>"Um, I guess not. But I don't really get what's going on. I think you need to get a pro!"

>"No, that won't be necessary." Rinnosuke stashes the object away. "I can handle it myself, since it shouldn't harbor any harmful curses within."
>"Why do you think it doesn't have any? There has to be more curses in it than just that harmless one, why would somebody curse something this half-heartedly and then leave it at that?", says Star.
>Rinnosuke grabs on to the edge of the countertop with both hands and exhales deeply. He hangs his head down for a brief moment before looking back to you and Star.
>"Alright. I must tell you the truth. That object isn't cursed.", he says.

>"But you just said it was. It can't be both things!"

>"It is not a curse. The unidentifiability of the object is not the result of someone cursing it or it ending up in circumstances that lead an object to becoming cursed of its own accord.", says Rinnosuke.
>"Why did you say it's a curse of unidentifiability if it's not a curse at all then?", asks Star.
>"Well, er... Attempting to examine unidentifiable objects also tends to send my thoughts in disarray. At that time, I thought drawing a comparison to curses was the correct way to explain it, you see."
>"Hmmmm...?"
>Star glares with squinty eyes of suspicion at the shopkeeper.
>"If it's not a curse that's making it unidentifiable, then what is it?", she asks.
>"All I know is that I've recovered numerous unidentifiable objects in the past and returned them back to their original, identifiable states. It seems that under some unknown conditions, objects from the outside world may become unidentifiable once they end up in Gensokyo.", says Rinnosuke.
>"Soooo... You're saying that it just happens, and that's all? There's no curse?", Star says.
>The shopkeeper nods to her.
>"But how can you be sure somebody hasn't cursed this one for reals?"
>"I've run into quite a few unidentifiable objects and had Reimu and Marisa take a look at some of them without finding any sort of curses in them. I'd like to think that I have good enough reason to believe this one isn't cursed either. Just leave it to me, and I should be able to overcome the unidentifiability."
>Rinnosuke leans with folded arms against the countertop, taking a more relaxed posture.
>"Now, is there anything else I could help you with?", he asks.

>"What do we tell Reimu?"

>"Reimu? What do you need to tell to her? Did you not claim she gifted this object to you?", says Rinnosuke.
>"Well... Reimu did say that she wanted to know what it's called and what it does, even though she won't be keeping it. I think we could spare her a little mercy.", says Star.
>"Errr... Then, just tell her it's unidentifiable? She should know what I'm talking about. In any case, I'll have it identified by tomorrow.", says the shopkeeper.

>"She'll have to put up with it, unless if she is about to enter my shop with an incentive for me to dispell the object on a short schedule. It would be par for the course for my luck if the proper customers tried showing up the one day I decide to close my business early to start working on sating the curiosity of Reimu.", he says.

>"And I had no means of predicting that I would be receiving an unidentifiable object from her today. We're even, aren't we?"
>Rinnosuke drums his fingers on the countertop and looks at you with a weary expression.
>"So then, could you come back in the evening when I've identified it? I'd prefer to live up to my work ethic by not closing up already for today because of the shrine maiden's whims.", he says.

>You have zero money.

>"I guess...?"

>"Very well. It has been decided."
>Rinnosuke's glasses give a menacing flash as he pushes them up.
>"How evening is this?", asks Star, "There's a drum contest in the evening and we're going there."
>"If you can't make it before dark, then night's fine too.", says the shopkeeper.

>"That reminds me! Do you know where to find a drum youkai? We need one for the contest!"

>"The only youkai I ever encounter tend to be the ones that visit my shop, and so far, I haven't seen anyone who could be a 'drum youkai'. I'm afraid I can't help you with this."
>Rinnosuke continues to drum his fingers on the countertop before abruptly pausing.
>"...However, I do remember Marisa telling me a couple days ago that she had heard drumming near the eastern outskirts of the village while she was on her way from there to here. She couldn't tell where exactly the drumming was coming from, so perhaps it could've been the work of a youkai?"

>Luna is sitting on the floor and reading a book bound in purple covers. The front cover of the book has three gaping holes punctured through it.
>"Did Star hit you too?", Luna asks without lifting her gaze from the damaged book.

>"Whoa, that book looks bitten! Did Star do that? Star, how did you bite this book so hard?"

>Star butts in by your side to check on Luna as well.
>"Oh, here you are. Why would I bite a book though? That's gross...", she says.
>"Dunno, the same reason why you would karate chop me?", Luna says as she turns a page.
>"You're still going on about that? That's no good, Luna, you could've used the time you've spent fuming behind this drawer on something much more worthwhile! You really do lack ambition.", says Star.
>Luna glances up from the book and gives Star a dirty look.
>"You're the one who's spent all this time telling lies even you don't believe in! Reimu's not afraid of us, and she could blow us up any day without a good reason!", she says.
>"Oh, of course I knew that Kourin was just playing along. But I had to play along too, otherwise I would've embarrassed us all.", Star says.
>"So you just wanted some excuse to hit me after all, didn't you! Geez, what's gotten into you..."
>Star kneels in front of Luna and attempts to put her hand on Luna's shoulder, but Luna intercepts Star's hand by grabbing her wrist.
>"Luna, I had to do it. For the sake of our credibility, I had to hit you. It's nothing personal, okay?", says Star, "By the way, what book are you reading?"
>"Urgh... I'm gonna let Sunny tell you instead!"
>Luna closes the book with her other hand that's not busy with keeping Star at bay from grasping her shoulder and offers it to you.

>Examine book. Then turn it over to make sure we're examining it the right way.

>You get: Damaged purple book
>The front cover of this book clad in purple has three holes punching through it. Or is it the back cover? You can't find the title of the book on either side. Opening the book, you discover that a large amount of the pages that rest behind the damaged cover have also been pierced by the same three holes, while the other half of the book remains unscathed. All of the pages in the book are blank.
