I won my slot in the lottery last night and started my fleet. Consider the bandwagon officially jumped on.
I'm stumbling along trying to learn where everything is. I cleared the first two maps of Stage 1 and have just destroyers and light cruisers at this point. By the grace of the random number generator, my best performers so far have been vanilla queen Fubuki and Sendai.
My resources seem to hover between the 300-400 mark with the fuel and ammo expenditures somewhat cancelled out by the natural resource regeneration. How to get the kinds of numbers to build aircraft carriers and battleships, I have no idea.
Despite not knowing what anything means, this is actually a lot of fun.
Well first off I want to say congratulations for making it into the lottery! \o/ You completed the first major hurdle to getting into the game. : )
As for the first world map. It's not difficult, the main purpose of it is to help get you familiar with some of the enemy units in the game. (Mainly Abyssal Destroyers, light cruisers and eventually Aircraft Carriers.) Just keep in mind 1-3 and 1-4 will be slightly tougher because of the Nu class and Wo-class Aircraft Carrier units that may over whelm you, but you'll be wanting to aim to get a heavy cruiser or two and then they will post little threat on the most part. If you get a light aircraft carrier, even better!
Don't worry too much about Standard Carriers and Battleships at the moment unless you really want to develop them, and in that case. this brings me up to the next point you asked.
Keep in mind, as your admiral rank goes up, so those your resource regeneration cap. You may start off with a low number, but it'll eventually grow about a few hundred points per level. So before too long you should be able to hold more resources allowing you to make bigger and better ships or engaging in more sorties in due time.
Also as another tip: Try to complete some of your composition quests and basic sortie quests as you can. These are important to gaining access to additional fleets and expedition if you haven't done so already. (To gain access to your second fleet you'll need to complete the "Create a full fleet" quest)
Expeditions will serve as a potential back bone for gaining resources especially in the long run. Again I recommend reading up on the Kancolle Wikia on this because these will become important in helping you out as you make progress in the game.
Also for the time being, you'll probably noticed already, but your resources regenerated about 1 fuel, ammo and steel per minute and 1 bauxite per 3 minutes.
Also I'm certain you'll get the hang of it eventually, it eventually become memorizes how to do things as you keep playing. But anyways best of luck to you as you get familiar with the waters new admiral! o7
While I'm at it, I'm going to toss this announcement out for everyone since this is important!
The Next Campaign Event has been announced!
It's clear now from the Devs that we will now given a
new event to get ready for. It'll take place in
Feburary!
According to Devs, the event will be a
Medium sized event. Which suggests it'll be about the size of difficulty level of somewhere between Operation Kon (
Autumn 2014) to about as hard as the East Indies Campaign (
Spring 2014)
They also recommend to
have shipgirls of many types as ready as possible for this event. So DDs, CLs, CAs, CVLs, CVs, BBs, SSs BBVs, and CAVs get as many of them as ready as you can.
Also if what Ooyodo hinted in her dialogue during pre-new years is correct: The next campaign might be
Operation Rei-go, keep in mind it's not official what the campaign is but that might be it assuming what Ooyodo said in the game (to players who owned her) is correct.
More info will probably be revealed over the course of this month so stay tuned.
So for the time being admirals, stockpile your resources and buckets and prepare your ships girls, you're going to need it!
To the newer admirals on board, please take you time and focus on getting a a grasp of the game and train your ship girls as you can. Don't worry too much about the event for the moment as you need to focus more on understand the ins an outs of the missions ATM. (you can still try the event if you want.

Just make sure you're ready for it)
Also don't forget that somewhere between the next maintainance update or the update by the event,
Nachi should get her Kai Ni upgrade as well.
