Oh shit, I didn't even realize Mystic Water Dragon was coming up. I can skillup Gabriel after all. Nice. Very good.
So how does the math on rows work? My team will have four blue rows once Gabriel is evolved, so when is it worth it to try to make rows instead of doing combos normally?
It works in a bit weird way.
For each row enhance, the multiplier is added by 10%. So 4 enhances would give you a x1.4 multiplier, 8 enhances would give you a x1.8 multiplier per row.
If you do more than one row, the multiplier is additive not multiplicative. E.g. doing 2 rows with 4 enhances give you x1.8, doing 3 rows with 6 enhances give you x2.8
Doing rows mean you only get a x1.75 for linking 6 orbs together compared to x2 (along with an additional 25% on the combo multiplier) if you split the 6 orbs into 2 combos of 3.
So roughly, at 4 enhances, assuming you make no other combos other than the attacking colour:
Doing 1 row (1 combo): 1.75*1.4 = x2.45
Doing 2 combos of 3: 2*1.25 = x2.5
Doing 2 rows (2 combo): 1.75*1.8*2*1.25 = x7.875
Doing 4 combos of 3: 4*1.75 = x7
As you can see, you only start benefitting if you make more than 2 rows with 4 enhances, and it's probably not worth making 1 row.
This is only a rough figure because you'd be making more combos other than the main attacking colour.
I've read before that you start breaking even for making 1 row at 5 enhances.
Seeing everyone I know on JAP servers getting amazing rolls, I rolled a 2nd time and got my 2nd Liu Bei. Damnit. :V I want a Sarasvati :<
