Don't have much to do these days, so I've started rehabilitating my ability to play Touhou :3 Unfortunately, I was quickly reminded why I stopped; I -have- to play fullscreen or I can't focus on the bullets properly, and fullscreen 640x480 looks awful (aka, pretty blurry) on an LCD (at least on my widescreen one?). Even DDC doesn't help because my monitor maxes at 900 vertical pixels, so I get the popular display error if I try to fullscreen 1280x960.
Buuut soldiering through anyway. 1cc'd DDC Normal with the last three shots I hadn't done before, IN Hard with Scarlet Team, and DDC Hard with both Reimu shots. (Over the past several days, that is.) Man, needle Reimu is so meh in DDC; the homing unfocus and small hitbox make it alright though, at least. Anyway, then a victory fanfare of MarisaB DDC Extra which was just as shamefully cheesy as expected. B) Who cares if you just died 3 times in a row and bombspammed the entire stage when you can farm multiple lives off each noncard attack?
IN hard really reminded me though, just how much harder ZUN's later games are. :T IN isn't even short on resources, but the bullets are vastly sparser than in DDC and MoF, and I always considered only SA/UFO to be the evil ones. Well, comparatively. Apart from TD, the later games all give you a boatload of resources... (It's kinda hard to abuse bombs in SA though since they're weaker and being low power can be a death sentence.)
I still don't think I can focus on the bullets as well as I used to though, and I blame my monitor. :T I die to things I really shouldn't, with a higher frequency than should happen. It's been going down a lot though. Maybe I can return to Lunatic soon, but, uh, these later games are scary... ;_; Maybe I'll play PC-98 and EoSD/PCB next...
(I've considered picking up a CRT but switching out for games would be a massive pain and I'm super broke right now anyway. Someday.)
