> Lyrica: Skedaddle.

It occurs to you that you could just run and end the battle to unglitch it, but you'd rather not, since that would count as a win for Fairy B. You don't usually get too salty about losing fights - it happens - but there's no way you're going to throw a tutorial battle against two fairies.

You're almost positive you had a move for this exact situation. You spend a couple minutes looking through your command menus.

Ah, there it is.

> Lyrica: SMACK DOWN.

You grab a top-quality rock out of your inventory! Yes, rocks vary in quality. ITEMTECH taught you how to tell the difference.

FAIRY B is defeated. You win the battle! You get 2 FAIRY DOLLARS.

Well that was obnoxious. Just as you're about to enter the living room, however, the doorbell rings.

> Lyrica: Answer door.

You let Chen into the foyer. She looks like she's been sweating up a storm.

You haven't been outside yet today, so you didn't realize it. It's always nice and cool in the mansion, being outrageously haunted and all.

> Examine Chen.

Chen is kind of a friend of a friend of a friend. She's a shikigami who works for YUKARI YAKUMO, who is the best friend of YUYUKO SAIGYOUJI, who hires you for gigs pretty frequently. Since both of you are often present at Gensokyo's biggest parties, you've talked a few times. You don't know her THAT well, but she seems pretty cool.

You ask Chen what brings her all the way out here. Chen tells you that Yuyuko wanted to know if you were free to play at her birthday party in a few weeks. You tell her it won't be a problem; you and your sisters get asked to do it every year, so you always keep your schedules open.

You're curious why Chen was sent to ask, though.

> Be Youmu.

She's busy, you guess.

> Be Lyrica again.

You lead Chen into the first floor living room. A bunch of the roadies are in here, huddled around the television, playing video games. The door to Cherry's office is open, too. Maybe you should let her know you confirmed the birthday gig.

Tell Cherry Blossom about the gig.  That way someone might remember after Chen leaves.

Offer Chen some chowder if she hasn't eaten yet.

Consider being a lazy bum and eating while playing games.

You remove your sunglasses, because your vision isn't augmented. And also because you need to be able to put them on again if you score a sick burn on one of your sisters at lunch.

> Examine skeleton.

This is MEL. He rents a room in the basement. He telecommutes to do his job as some kind of legal paperwork guy; he works for the Yama's office, which sounds interesting, but he's not allowed to talk about his cases, which is lame.

He's an alright guy, and a pretty good Dhalsim player.

Sounds fun. You might need to try that later.

After spending a moment pondering the subtle complexities of fairy CvS2 competitive play, you go to the corner of the room to dig into the mini-fridge, looking to get Chen something to drink.

Unfortunately, it seems the fridge has been packed entirely with junk food and soft drinks advertising themselves as "gamer fuel".

You guess you can't really argue if it works for them. Placebos are amazingly effective on fairies.

> Lyrica: Tell Cherry about the gig before you forget.

You point Chen towards the kitchen and tell her to help herself to whatever she wants, and that you'll be along in a minute.

You find Cherry Blossom in her office, fumbling with the maths. The maths will forever be her nemesis, and you thank god every day that she's willing to let you pay her to do them. Running the logistics for the Prismriver Ensemble is no fun at all.

You inform her about the non-change in schedule.

Speaking of schedules, at this point I'm running short on time so I'm going to half-ass the art for the rest of this update.

Anyway, with that matter settled, Cherry's expression changes to that of someone that is about to discuss something they'd rather not discuss.

That's a real kick in the pants. The Prismriver Ensemble has been so successful for so long, you kind of forgot that Gensokyo's population is so small that not appealing to the major demographics would limit your income. You cringe at the thought of scaling back your stage budget. It's no fun that way!

You leave Cherry to her maths and proceed to the kitchen. On the way, you hear the roadies yelling JUSTIN WONG again. They don't even know who Justin Wong is, they just think it's something you yell when somebody does something crazy in a fighting game.

> Lyrica: Enter kitchen.

Your sisters are here, as is Chen, who has been served some iced tea and leftover sushi. She appears most grateful.

It's probably time to talk turkey. And chowder.

> Lyrica: Examine Merlin.

This is your sister, MERLIN PRISMRIVER, THE POLTERGEIST TRUMPETER. Most of the stuff I said in your own intro can be repeated here.

The human Merlin was the middle sister. How much she had in common with this one is a mystery, but your Merlin is characterized by her whimsy and general flakiness. Despite the absence of any kind of work ethic, she is incredibly talented in pretty much everything she does. She's the best cook in the house, the best at sports, the prettiest, the strongest in terms of danmaku, and she always wins at board games. There's no explanation for it other than her having incredibly good luck. Honestly, you're kind of glad she doesn't try because otherwise she'd be impossible to keep up with.

She seems to be in a good mood, as usual.

> Lyrica: Begin band meeting.

First things first. You ask Chen if she told Lunasa and Merlin about the gig at Hakugyokurou, and she shakes her head (her mouth is full), so you lead the discussion on the matter.

Yuyuko holds her birthday party on a certain Sunday each year, rather than a specific date, because she doesn't actually know what her real birthday is. She just celebrates it in summer, because the perpetually cool air of the Netherworld is more appealing when it's hot out.

You excuse yourself, saying you're going to inform Cherry of the change in plans.

> Lyrica: Step out.

Time to call in an expert.

> Lyrica: Resume band meeting.

With that matter settled, you return to the kitchen and sit down to talk to Lunasa, discussing how to best combine your talents in Merlin's absence. You suggest putting on some sort of rap-rock performance, but Lunasa sagely points out that Yuyuko is old-fashioned and might not like it. She says if you want to do the fast talking thing while she plays guitar and fiddle, then maybe bluegrass would work? That's not really the pinnacle of cool, but you could make it fun at least. You agree to start getting some practice in this week.

What the hell was that? It sounded like it came from outside!
