I just want to know what god damn urban legend its referencing.

It's not an urban legend; it's OJ Simpson in a low-speed chase with police.

If I were to name the best thing to come out of ULiL, it's gotta be Byakuren on a motorcycles. Everyone's new dumb expressions are a close second though, those are great.

At least, until this gets old or overused...

Wait when did Byakuren get a motorcycle anyway I'm slow on the draw here.... :X

She uses it in her occult attack in ULiL. As to where it comes from, I'm not sure. I heard someone say that the occult balls can teleport objects so maybe hers teleports a bike to her?
Saying I rarely post is an understatement... but I'm always here...!

I highly doubt ZUN would make a refence to O.J.
But seriously, what the hell urban legend is it referencing? It seems to be the only one that no body knows what it is.

Oh, you meant the motorcycle rather than the pic, sorry.

Yeah, no idea either.

It's just representative of Byakuren's urban legend. This seems to be Jet Babaa / Turbo Baa-chan, given the in-game baba ("granny") jokes and the Spell Card naming sense of "going really fast", along with one being named "*Turbo Granny Rides for Her Life*".

Slight diversion: the motorcycle has also established a delinquent/gangster theme for Hijiri, and by extension her crew, as the spell card name *ターボババァ走死走愛* (*Turbo Granny Rides for Her Life*) incorporates 走死走愛 sōshisōai, a bōsōzoku (motorcycle gangster) lingo.

Previously we only saw Ichirin referring to Hijiri as "Big Sis" (姐さん onee-san and 姉御 anego), which in this context sounds more like stereotypical delinquent speech, rather than anything people in real life would say. Now the motif has finally come to fruition.

Not really a serious question, but how much traction is Mokou/Sumireko gaining on the shipping front? :V

Any well known celebrities that are known fans of Touhou? I read somewhere that Justin Bieber was one, but it probably isn't true.

- What happen to those 'occult balls' at the end of t14.5 and more particularly the 'Gensokyo occult ball' that Mamizou was in possession of?

- Was there any indication where exactly they appear at, once they leave the barrier? (in the forest far from the city like in that particular touhou manga...)

For one, it's unclear if Mamizou was lying about Gensokyo's occult ball. In fact "how much of what she says is true?" was the title of one of her stages. If she really does have the Gensokyo Power Stone though, I see no reason for her not to keep it. It's not like the Power Stones were created by the incident, they've always existed and only became a problem because of how Sumireko was trying to use them. All the other balls were sent back through the barrier, except maybe the Lunar Capital orb? I dunno, the ending didn't really focus on it since it was more about how they'd deal with Sumireko herself.

After they leave the barrier, they end up in the middle of the sky above a modern city. Sumireko's stage, basically. Plenty of characters are shocked by the transition, and they have no time or reason to travel that far, so there's no reason to believe they didn't just suddenly appear there.

She was definitely lying about the one she gave to Sumireko; in her story mode ending,
Spoiler:
she outright says that it's a fake and actually one of her tanuki minions. The minion signals them when Sumireko prepares to enter, and Kasen's the one who actually pulls her in.

edit: vvv Right, right.

Yeah, I knew that, but it's unclear if she was lying about the existence of the ball in the first place.

Is there a place where one can find more background info about those "urban legend" (like Futo - okiku banchou sarayashiki) in t14.5 or where they mostly without any specific back story?

I don't really understand why, in Forbidden Scrollery, Reimu tried to not point out who Mamizou is. I mean, it states that it would ruin her reputation with the human village but wouldn't it be more logical to come to the conclusion with that Reimu fought/exterminated her before. Instead of thinking that Reimu became friends with Mamizou or something.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that, I'm confused over why the villagers would lower Reimu's reputation over knowing Mamizou.

The villagers don't really know Reimu, they just know rumors about her, since Reimu does not visit the village that often.
Reimu's reputation with the village isn't exactly good either. While she is a youkai hunter, she is not strict enough on youkai. Her shrine is sometimes known as a youkai shrine, because youkai visit her, again causing a reputation drop.
Real youkai hunter, like way back when, hunt down and exterminate youkai without exception. Byakuren was sealed because she was friendly with youkai back in the day.

The logical conclusion to draw from someone you don't really know and they are hanging out with youkai is that the person is on friendly terms with that youkai.

What is Hell (the actual Hell where the souls of the damned go to and not the youkai-occupied Former Hell we can investigate in Subterranean Animism) like in the Touhou universe? Also, is it possible for a human being to get trapped in there by some horrible mistake?

I'm working on a fangame fanfiction and I need more information on the topic of Touhou's netherworld.

They use Buddhist cosmology for the afterlife (more or less), so you can just look up one of the Buddhist hells on wikipedia or something. There are a bunch of specific hells in Buddhism, like the mountain of needles and stuff, and they're referred to several times in Touhou.
No, more like false information being spread about the Hakurei Shrine Maiden.

It's true though? She gets along pretty well with youkai.

What do you mean? The shrine has a bad reputation because youkai visit it. They mention this in the 3 fairies manga.

The dialogue can be seen here:

http://bato.to/read/_/51354/touhou-sangetsusei-oriental-sacred-place_v1_ch5_by_umad-scans/8

I wouldn't call the rumor false, since she rarely attacks youkai outside of incidents and is on friendly terms with a fair amount of them.

My post was a 50/50 joke / truth.

The joke part referred to the interview of Aya with Reimu in BAiJR. What you're stating about status with Youkai is true. But it is false that you claim she doesn't visit the Human Village often and thus Humans rely on rumours.

Reimu in fact visits the Human Village quite often but that doesn't take away the gossips and rumours. Reimu's relationship is complicated in Gensoukyo I guess. Due to many things. Being the Hakurei Shrine Maiden doesn't makes it easier, especially her lazy nature in general.

Edit:
Either way there is a lot of behaviour / nature of Reimu explained in official works. PMiSS and the Touhou ingame profiles usually give a good description in general.

The situation was never discussed about in canon, so we don't know.

So I can make up my own details about this sort of situation for the fan story?

It's a fan story, so you can write whatever you like, really. Anything not covered by canon is fair game, and some writers don't even let that stop them. Won't affect the quality of a story either way, in my experience.

Considering that living humans visit the Netherworld and Heaven without any problems, I'd assume that Hell is also just a physical location that living beings can reach if they try hard enough. It's probably unpleasant, depending on which Hell it is (again, look up the Buddhist Hells), but I can't imagine there'd be anything special about it.

Pretty good chance the human is going to be dead. Hell is a dangerous place for powerless people after all.
