No deaths, but a pretty bad stage 4, and panic-bombing on Kanako cost 3 sets of full-power point items there (including the large set before the final spell). I'm sure the MoF specialists here could surpass this easily with a no-death run of their own-- let's see some competition.

I may or may not improve this-- the UFO Extra challenge seems interesting, and learning a route for that stage could take a while.

I seem to have retained more of my muscle memory and route memory than I expected, so this wasn't too difficult to pull out. I accidentally ended Kanako's first spell when I didn't mean to, though, so it ended way too early (I'm not sure how you even make such a big mistake on something so lenient, that never happens), and I messed up my (wreath's) Red Frog route (but my slight improvisation turned out pretty alright). Didn't bother optimizing most of the nonspells, didn't bother doing Suwako's first spell vertically.

Because I got this run relatively quickly, I almost want to improve my old record now...

I had a 5 death run of normal that I didn't even let save the high score due to the way the deaths happened.
1: Marionette: I will begrudgingly accept this one, I should have been more careful but a bullet turning around from below is pretty cheap.
2: Star of David
3: Star of David (joke tier spell, kind of stopped caring after the second death)
4: Scarlet Shoot
5: Scarlet Shoot (due to forgetting how the normal mode version behaves and trying to do it like Scarlet Meister)

0 or 1 deaths should be pretty easy to do if I re-learn those 2 patterns, since I wasn't really threatened by anything else that wasn't the very end of Stage 4 when I messed it up.

Try for a no-death run. Dying has a huge penalty on score in MoF-- I think not dying should be enough for 1 billion at least, if you collect the star items, go to the PoC when safe, and know how not to lose major faith at the start of stage 3.

It shouldn't be too hard, but I'm afraid I just don't care enough about scoring to actually play properly or learn any basic strategies, especially on lower difficulties.
At least I gave it a shot...

Unrouted in the second half of the stage, aside from having a blue UFO near the end. It's actually surprisingly hard to have an all-blue route (after the post-Kogasa free rainbow) there. I didn't bomb Kogasa's final for graze either since I kept getting game overs when trying to develop a second-half route (also I'm not sure how much graze is needed to compensate for the ~15m spell bonus). Nue went well enough anyway aside from failing Green UFO.

Is anyone else planning on trying this?

So I tried to graph the point from the 3rd midboss spell, Karisa. Assuming no UFOs, it requires 11900 graze to make up for the lost spellcard bonus if all items are collected at full value..  In SOC's replay, he gains 11k graze, but loses 2 lives, costing him 6m. If you multiply and tally up the UFO bonuses, he gets 7496 point items from UFOs. As such it only requires about 2000 graze to make up for the lost spellcard bonus, as well as 800 graze for those 2 lives, though this assumes the route doesn't get screwed up. These numbers will be dependent on how you can handle things, so they might need to be tweaked a bit.
