Got my copy :toot:
I probably won't be playing an awful lot in the next week or so but you can still all add me 1676-5051-9468

My sister is most likely going to grab it as well, would people be willing to friend her if/when she does?  No one else she knows other than me would get this game :ohdear:

I got my copy, but I need to finish Pokemon Y first. It's been sitting around long enough. :V

I really like the collector's edition, but can it kill the devs to include more than eight songs on the accompanying CD?

I think it is possible, because you can add as friends in the demo and it'll carry over to the full game.

Oh snap, this game has *endings*?!  :o That's new (well, not quite, FF13-2 did it first)

Strictly speaking, 10-2 had multiple endings as well. Just the two, but still.

I'll add people when I'm at home and thus my 3DS can actually get online

EDIT: Can I just mention that this game is really stupid on Hard because it kinda is.  If my healer doesn't act in the same position in the turn order against many bosses my entire party can be KO'd before I can even treat them sometimes.  Or crits.  Crits are stupid.  Enemies being able to crit with I swear to god anything they do is extra stupid.

Yeah, from what I heard Hard is just flat out unfair at parts rather than a reasonable challenge.  I'm on normal and had a hell of a time in the first real dungeon after you get jobs, but after that minus trying to do sidequests/nemesis battles too early (ps the recommended levels for those are COMPLETE LIES ALL LIES) everything seems fair, though I did get two of the fancypants Norende items that reaaaaaally helped (Angel Bow/Blessed Shield)  Also customizing the special attacks to target nuke weaknesses ohh yeah.  I'm staying away from the handful of Super OP Friendsummons I got, that's a little much for these bosses as of now.

I just started Chapter 2, and I'm starting to take a stab at what's going on given what happened and the complaints of the internet (Ch1 spoiler/random speculation)
Spoiler:
So I'm thinking Ringabel is involved in some time travel shenanigans after Round 1 in stopping the rest of our motley crew failed because ?? and he tried a different approach entirely (though if that whole =Dark Knight thing is a misdirection somehow I would be quite happy as well, but I don't know how they'll write themselves out of that one)  This would explain the similar but not exact plot details/progression from the Book of D as it happened already in a slightly different fashion.  Also the sage shows up in the mini artbook with the Council of Six dudes and he's basically what Ringabel will be when he grows up but what if that's literal somehow because of said shenanigans  :o

Now, the main complaint I heard was halfway through the game it does something interesting but is executed poorly and drags on and people wanted to just rush to the end and finish up.... what if at that point things went belly up again because ?? and you have to do a Round 3 of the storyline? I'd probably find that tedious. This also being written by the Steins;Gate crew strengthens my belief in crazy time/dimension shenanigans being afoot.

Anyone who's beaten the game or gotten far enough to Know Better please please don't confirm/deny anything, but I wouldn't mind other speculation and people to bounce back theories off.

Also my sister will be ordering the game and getting it sometime over the weekend since it's mad sold out, so if anyone wants to add her for more slave labor 4613-7988-3902, she'll show up as Lonny, just let me know if you do so I can pass it along.

Also also the Merchant class makes everyone so dapper I really need to make my whole party them at once but then battling is MO' MONEY MO' PROBLEMS (probably)

Triangles: You may or may not be onto something and I won't say a goddamn thing to confirm nor deny your superstitions other than that your logic is interesting.
(I've sadly had a couple details spoiled for me including the name of one of the last bosses :/ so I won't do that to anyone else)

Also the ranger costumes are the most ridiculous thing.  Like I thought Time Mage looked horrendous and then Nope, Rangers.

I like how non-magey the Time Mage outfits were, nice change of pace a a giant COSPLAYERS TRY THIS sign attached, even if it makes taking Tiz seriously in the cutscenes a little tricky.

I also like the dissonance when in Florem and they're fussing over how plain Agnes looks while she's a Merchant and rocking mad bling and pearls the size of my fist :V

I'm getting sick of how everything bosses do in this game can critical hit.  The final boss in Chapter 2 just literally wiped a team that otherwise survives his biggest attack because everyone got crit by it at once.

My strategy for this fight is literally sound until the moment a crit lands on the wrong person and that feels just disgusting.

(Also: If you think the Time Mage outfits are absurd, just wait until you see the Ranger ones.  They're just so ridiculous it's hard to take anything in the game seriously anymore)

Time Mages are fashionaaablah.  I like the part where Ang?s' hair goes through the cape when she's talking.  But that's where I'm at in the game.  I just started Chapter 2 and am entering Ang?s in a Beauty Contest.  So far, Chapter 2 is shaping up to be the best chapter of the game.

Also, does anyone else not like Airy?  Is it just me?  And it's not her voice.  Her personality bugs.  She seems waaaaay to gung-ho about restoring the crystals.

Also this game reminds me of Final Fantasy V in another way than the Job System.  The party has a few parallels too.  I mean you got the male lead with a funny name ending in Z.  You next party member is a Princess with an affinity to the Wind Crystal.  Ang?s isn't royalty, but she is basically a princess.  Your next party member is a cool comic relief guy.  And your fourth party member is the awesome girl.
Spoiler:
Who is also a princess.

So by FF5 logic we probably shouldn't be turning the crystals back on otherwise they're going to overload and pop so maybe we're the bad guys   :o
(I am not convinced this is an impossible theory)

And today in the "banana wacky triangletheory department" after the Summoner battle in Chapter 2 because that's how far along I am (holy crap now I feel really guilty if I wear that outfit, at least for the ladies...) it appears
Spoiler:
Tiz is also all aboard the metaphysical mixup train along with Ringabel!  Her comments about another soul jumps out at me to either being a Lord Blazer thing so he too is (inadvertently?) not entirely on Agnes' side, or perhaps pulling an Ever17 Blick Winkle.  I mean I guess there's other possibilities too, I didn't think much past those though.  I wonder if Tiz has a parallel with the Eternia forces as well.

I am also starting to think we are not on Round 2, but rather Round X + 1 since the Book of D seems to start and end as a closed loop.  Another piece of "evidence" to the time shenanigans I had forgotten about is the opening AR intro with Agnes.  She's asking for help (from the player???) to save her friends, which at the start of the "story" proper she doesn't really have any from being basically stuck in a convent forever.... so she's referring to Tiz/Edea?/Ringabel? as though it's the end of the saga. We start the game at the tail end of that iteration needing a reset because whoops looks like reality is getting sucked into some sort of vortex that sucks let's try this again.

It'll be great to come back to this post and see how completely wrong I was!

Mrgrgr...JP requirements for maxing jobs are so high. T__T Is there a low-EXP, high JP spot one can farm at some point in the game? I'm in Chapter 1 still (

EXP and JP gains increase substantially in each chapter.  You're not meant to come anywhere close to maxing jobs early (The JP costs get absolutely massive at job level 10 and up - it spikes from like 800 JP per level to like 2400 or something)

:fail: Looks like I'm gonna switch Edea out of Thief very soon...It's not that strong of a job, damage wise. Abate Wind is nice at least, and I assume you'll know Mug Stab and Grab at some point, but that might be a while still.

Time to stick Twohanded on Edea with the Thief's Knife, then! Wait no she can't do that. Bluh. :V

I'm thinking of getting this game, as I like RPGs, but I've not played many Final Fantasy games. I've played III on the DS, but I've never got really far into it (The restricted saving is the main reason why). So would this really be a good purchase for me?

It has an autosave feature, but I don't use it. It does have save points in dungeons right before bosses though, so it's not as bad as FF3 was. I think you'd like it.
