Chaos Drive - A guild-based card battle game for iOS/Android
« on: October 31, 2013, 03:46:21 AM »
Hey, sorry for tooting my own horn for a bit, but the company I've been translating for just released a new iPhone game called Chaos Drive. It kind of follows the standard Japanese-style social card battle game format but the actual battles are much more dynamic and cooperative, with both boss and guild battles. It's barely out of beta and there are still a few formatting issues floating around, but I'm proud of the work we've put into the game, as well as the translation (I did all of the story sequences so far). The actual card artwork is also a step above your usual "Rage of Bahamut" type stuff. And it's not even all that "pay-to-win" like other card games, since the drop rate is fairly generous. I've been playing the Japanese version for a month and I already have a pretty solid deck. It's not available worldwide just yet but it should be in the App Stores of the major English-speaking countries.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chaos-drive/id703261181

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.applibot.chaos.global.android

When you register, use one of the current players' referral IDs below to get a bonus rare card, and if we get enough people from here to join, I'll see about forming a MotK guild or something.  Also, I'd really appreciate your feedback regarding things like download speeds, crashes, etc. I can't guarantee I'll be able to help with any problems, but I can pass them along to those who can. And there might be an Android version in the works? Not 100% sure on that, but our other game has an Android version so it seems likely.

I'd like to see an Android version, actually. I could use another handheld distraction!

And after a considerable length of time, an Android version has just been released! Let me know how it works out for you, although I guess the customer service team might do a better job of addressing any actual technical issues.

This typical Million Arthur clone or just 'typical card game'?

Also- There is an android version, right? You didn't link to it or mention it besides the title.

Run a search for it in Google Play and it should turn up.

I've never played Million Arthur so I can't say for sure, but it's not the latter, I don't think.

Giving it a try even though another android game is the last thing I need in my life right now.

Might as well give it a shot then.

Oh boy! Another time sink! And I'm saying this without sarcasm. My afternoons have been feeling rather empty lately.

I'm gonna regret this later, aren't I?

EDIT: Same connection error message. You might want to get that checked out...

Too bad I don't go to work on Saturday :V

You might have better luck contacting support since this is a little out of my area of expertise but I'll let the concerned parties know later.

Well now that I'm invested in this game, I hope I still can get my 5 consecutive days login rewards or whatever  :derp:

Oh, right, should probably mention details:
Nexus 5, wifi and data, Android 4.4.2 (?), also phone is rooted if that matters

Laser: Don't worry, they don't have to be consecutive and there's no time limit as far as I know, hehe

Yeah, device and version would be useful to know.

Hey, it's working now! Yay!

And two SSR pulls later, I'm too invested in this game to quit. Look at all the sparkly colors and effects and actually this is really cool, yo. Marathoned it for an hour because I'm obsessive like that.

EDIT: Chapter 03 seems to have a slight graphics problem of absolutely nothing showing up besides the HUD. Galaxy s4 mini, Latest Android version.

Trying this game now. Good gods, information overload! The menu has a hundred different pages, with ten popups alerting me about things I don't know what they mean! It's like driving through Times Square with the holographic shark billboards from Back to the Future.
You randomly join a guild ... huh. OK, but really? Why?
I have 2 rares, 3 super rares, and one super special rare?
Really hoping the tutorial explains some of this stuff.

So, it seems on Missions and Raids, there is no gameplay.
The guild battles don't occur very often apparently.

LaserTurtle: Yes, the issue with the very latest version of Android not showing graphics at times is something they're working on.

Oarfish: Missions and Raids are very simple, but the Guild Battles are where the action is (and there is a tutorial for that as well). Try to find a guild with times that match your normal schedule best. They usually have two battles a day for certain events, but they'll switch back to three a day later. PvP might not have been added to Android yet since that was only just added to the iOS version, but that's a bit more engaging than missions/raids as well. And I admit the popups can be a little overwhelming at first. Even I was surprised when I first tried it out lol

Ah, good to see there's an Android version. I'll give it a shot soon, although I'm already busy maintaining 3 Million Arthur accounts. XD

Higher rarity cards give you better stats and better abilities for guild battles. All SSRs have at least one unique, really good ability.

I think having a semi-active MoTK guild would be really useful... I hardly have any idea of what I'm doing and none of the guild battles I've tried participating in have actually done anything.

I think I'm doing pretty well, even though the random guild I joined isn't very strong. I'm not too strong in PvP either because my good cards all ended up being Wisdom and Style without any real Power, but I'm working on that.

From Dorapo experience- In these kinds of games -usually- knowing and planning together helps, though I've no idea how comprehensive an MOTK guild would be.

Relatedly, I've had no luck actually getting this to work. Whoops.

One of their announcements today was that they fixed something or another. When was the last time you tried?

I just remembered that the iOS and Android versions share the same player base, so I don't mind inviting you all to my Guild. :V I just need to kick some inactives to make room, so look up the "Enforcers" in a day or so. Alternatively, you could post your user names so I can recruit you.
