I wonder if Haguro is ready for her upgrade. I personally won't mind if it's not that long of a wait since I already have her (and Ashigara) near 60.

In the mean time another teaster while we wait for the notes...

Second analysis seems to think so- notice the shikigami planes.

She might become non-bottom of the barrel! Guess I might want another. Weird this happens so soon after the art upgrade.

And Maintenance is OVER! You may now reenter Kancolle and see what all has been added into the game now.

This maintainance included a whole bunch of good stuff the surprise was some of these weren't announce till last moment so no one knew who was expected to be upgraded till now but here's the notes for this maintaince!

Quote

1 ) New refits: Haguro and Ryujo can now be refitted to kai-ni. Both need high experience, but plans are not needed. Ryujo will not have new voices. Haguro kai-ni will have new HQ and combat voices.

2 ) New map: Extra operation 2-5 has been implemented. Sortie small and medium ships with high scouting and destroy the boss gauge for ranking points and a medal.

3 ) New kanmusu: The new map 2-5 will drop a new Kanmusu, Urakaze. This map will also drop kanmusu such as Hamakaze and Uzuki.

4 ) New Voices: Suzukaze and Samidare kai have new resupply, idle, and wedding (kari) HQ voices.

5 ) New Missions: Form the 30th Destroyer Squadron (2), 30th Destroyer Squadron ASW sortie, Form the 5th Fleet, Sortie the 5th Fleet.

6 ) New BGM: '5th Fleet Sortie' for 2-5. 'Afternoon at the Chinjufu' for HQ furniture change screen.

7 ) New equipment: 20.3cm (Mod2) Dual guns, 12.7cm Dual HA gun (late mod.)

8 ) New construction: Type 2 Carrier recon plane can now be constructed

9 ) UI changes: Fixed equipment list during refit, Fixed burner flame bug, Optimized effects during refit/modernization, Fixed sound effects during night battle.

10 ) Server upgrades: Increased server capacity/power to help during increased periods of load. Strengthened server side macro/bot/cheat detection.

11 ) New furniture: Budding flooring, budding wallpaper, wooden walls, green curtain, hydrangea window (requires furniture fairy), Expensive red brick wall (requires furniture fairy), Expensive wooden wall (requires furniture fairy)

11a ) New furniture part 2: Blackboard, Teacher's desk/podium, Classroom desk

As usual I'll try posting stuff up on the Kanmusus as soon as possible.

From what I hear yes they do, but there's also some funny branching rules to it too that are still being looked into. No one knows the map in full details yet.

Ah, good to know.

Anyway, after my fourth attempt (my previous three being stalled mainly due to Chitose getting mauled) I finally got to the boss with my event fleet. Somehow managed to take out her out almost right away and I got Urakaze for my troubles.

Not bad.

Busy working through dailys and weeklies while training Yukikaze (she's the Kanmusu of the week so I must)

Beat 2-5 with ease, but I need to go back there to still hunt for Urakaze.

As a good tip for 2-5 remember the following:

1. A carrier will always take you the south route (which is deemed safer), have a battleship in your fleet increases you chances of hitting a dead end by 5%, and increases the likely hood you'll hit the Wo-node in the south route and increase the odds of fighting a Wo-kai in said node.

2. Having no battleships in your fleet will make sure you don't hit the early dead ends. (exception of the final one) Have two DD and you Carrier is a CVL, this will decrease your chances of hitting to Wo node in the south route, and if you do hit it, it's likely to be a Flagship Wo.

3. You need to have around 40 or 50 or more (not sure the exact number but it's around that range) LoS gear equipped (radars, seaplanes, Saiuns, ect) and a seaplane on your flagship to guarantee a shot at the boss node.

This mainly applies to late level players, I'm not sure how this affects lower level players, but this summarize how come I did so well even though I played blind on the map.

Besides that though, Maintaince is planed for June the 6th!

No info yet regarding what will be put within this update, so speculations is in full speed right now.

Oh and also thanks to the recent magazines that came out in Japan we know that our quest girl is actually Light Cruiser Oyodo. Fun thing to now speculate: When will Oyodo become playable?

Bumping to give out Dev news report:

The Month of June we are going to expect to see some 3 ship girls get a remodel!

The ones that'll be remodel are.... a Destoyer, a Light Cruiser, and an Aircraft Carrier (!!!)

Haruna will be put on hold till July before she's remodelable.

The update coming this June 6th will contain at least one of these upgrades or up to all 3!

Also on the month of June, a new ship girl will be introduced, but this one will be a little different.

She's not a large ship class to begin with, but if you get her to the point of remodeling...

She will change in her ship class entirely

So this leaves the question, what ship out there had plans to become another ship class but became something else instead?

Many CVs had this, this included Akagi and Kaga since they were orginally planned to be battleships but became carriers instead.

The closest thing I can think of at the moment is Shinano since she was originally planned to be a Yamato-class battleship, but was ultimately converted to an Aircraft Carrier.

Hints suggest this Kanmusu was featured in a magazine recently. If this is the case... then the candidate would be Oyodo (IE. Our Quest Kanmusu). She was a light cruiser that was later refitted to be an seaplane carrier.

As for who'll be remodeled?

My speculation as least for the CL and CV are: Sendai and Hiryuu.

Being this is the month of Midway, Hiryuu seems to have this potential mainly due to the fact she was the longest survivor within that battle against the the US navy among her division group.

As for CL, Sendai mainly due to the talk regarding her in a previous magazine, since she's due for an upgrade.

DD.... I'm clueless... becuase there's just too many of them to figure out unless we're going to get. Akatsuki might get this because of her sacrifice she did diverting USS Atlanata's fire during Guadacanal (IE. used her searchlight as a diversion)

Alternative case for DD: Yukikaze, because of her transfer to the Chinese navy following WWII.... she'll be then called

As a reminder, tomorrow is maintenance so get as much as you can done before tomorrow's update. We are expecting to have a ship girl with a Kai 2 upgrade, some tweakes to the UI, some new BGM, and some new quests!

Also an important tweet has been announced....

Operation AL and Opertaion MI are coming! Prepare your Aviation Power and stock up on that Bauxite!

So while it's not coming this update we know it's coming...

The Summer Event: Battle of Midway will be coming soon... prepare your ship girls for one of the biggest wars yet!

Extra note: While there is no hint on which Kanmusu is getting Kai-Ni yet. There has been lots of hint from the devs when they talked about the Battle of Midway latety.... they have been talking alot about Hiryuu lately...

Who want's to bet Hiryuu's getting her Kai 2 upgrade tomorrow?

And the Servers are up!

This maintenance has brought us a whole new batch of things for us all to enjoy this time around so here are the notes from this week's update:

1. UI change: Remove all equipment button has been added! Will remove all gear from your Kanmusu

2. UI change: Terminate Expidition button has been added! This will call back your fleet from an expidition at any given time. Do note, that you will still have to pay for supply costs from the expidition.

3. Hiryuu Kai-Ni has been implemented! She will require a very high level to upgrade! She will come with new rare planes to boot! She will not have any new voice daialouge ATM (they will come later.) Do not worry though, her fleet mates will get upgrades over the summer time!

4. No blueprint will be required for Hiryuu, however.... The new ship that'll require a class change WILL need one for upgrade!

5. A new load of quests have been added! Form the 2nd Carrier Strike Force!, 2nd Carrier Strike Force Sortie, Changing Ship Types, Form the 6th Submarine division, Implement long range submarine operations, Increase the outcome of long range submarine operations.

6. New kanmusu! Submarine Trender Taigei has been added! You'll be able to find her in several mid level maps and later, including extra operations! She can be refitted at a low level and with a blueprint. Be careful, as this will change her ship class all together and missiong requirements might not be met if done so.

7. New equipment: Equipment such as the Vickers 40mm Dual cannons, also equipment for submarines, carrier planes, a total of 6 will be implemented. The one that will come with Hiryu kai2, a carrier plane squadron can be changed once with the 'changing plane type' mission.

8. New BGM: Hiryuu's counter attack. Will play in 2-4, 3-4, 4-4 and 5-2

9. Shouhou will get new lines! New marriage lines + resupply and ideling lines

10. Display and Sound tweaks: Mostly small things like fixing Naka's sound when resupplied, fixing rank error,and Hagurou's kai Ni's display during her marriage.

11. New expedition: 'Distant oceans submarine operation' implemented. This expedition will need submarines and a sub tender to successfully accomplish.

12. Server upgrades: All current servers will be updated on the system side. Tawi, Palao, Brunei, Sukumo, Hitokappu, and Parmushir will have physical server

13. 12.7 HA Gun (late model) is bugged and double attakcs subs, will be fixed in a while...

14. Looking to increase room for ships up to 200 but it's held back by server constraints, will be resolved in the summer.

15. Max HQ level is now up to 120

16. Urakaze's drop rate has been increased! She will now also appear in certain normal water stages for a certain period of time.

And that should do it! I shall post up stuff on our new Kanmusus in a bit....

The new art looks great. I want twelve teigais, and New hiryuu's art looks amazing.

I say this pre-damaged art being updated and my eventual disappointment over hiryuu gaining clothes explosion mechanic, and whatever might happen to teigai, but still. Dang.

A lot of quality of life and improving this as a game panders great to my interests too. Overall, hell yes. Good update.

Hoo boy - word is that Hiryuu's max firepower after remodel is 64 - that's 5 more than Taihou. Armor is 76, between the cranes and Akaga. HP is just 67, though - glass cannon, anyone?

The image that gave this atm has planes, so firepower isn't accurate.

Her firepower is more likely below taihou/possible above current kaga/akagi levels. I'd honestly estimate more at akagi/kaga levels.

Overall I really feel her new niche is being better than Zuikaku/Shoukaku as a dodgy option, having less HP for more armor and evasion and better firepower (Possibly AA?).
