Beat Super Robot Wars UX for the ninth time today. There was a Japanese player who was on New Game+38 for K and was destroying everything in one hit. Maybe I can get that far. It's weird how I haven't gotten bored of UX after all this time. Maybe there's just something innate about that I just really, really dig. Even though it's another one of those games where you have someone who autodeploys through a fifth of the game. Including the final stage. Yeah, thanks for ruining my perfect strategy, Banpresto. Odyssea and Linebarrel are an awesome pair with damn-near pefect partner bonus synergy. Well, guess I'll just start doing Linebarrel with Lu Bu next time, after the Linebarrel finale (stage 46). UX isn't actually as bad for MC event deploys as Z3.1 was. That's at least 13, depending on routes taken, with a maximum of I think 16. And the game is 61 stages long, although 61 is an epilogue. You fight a guy who is essentially an evil Chinese Travis Touchdown in an evil monstrous crab-like mecha-organic thingy, and then when you defeat him, he's like "Hrmph", and leaves. Well, that's how it goes when the game is "Part 1 of 2".

I've got Etrian Odyssey 3 plugged into my domestic 3DS (I bought the blue FE:A bundle one), so maybe I should play that. Maybe just to see how far I can go before the weight of the whatever it is causes my spirit to make a *squish* noise and die like what happened to 1, 2, and 4. I think 4's fault was partially that I really didn't like the character design for the classes so I couldn't really get "into" my characters. I think it's better in 3.

You know what dungeon-crawler has great character design? 7th Dragon 2020.
I need an option, a reason, and some hope.

Playing Project Diva F 2ND and seem have delveoped this habit of getting a minimal of "Excellent" before I can move on to the next song... >.<
It's a good habit to have, really, on Normal. That said, Two Breaths Walking keeps kicking my ass on that account, and I've basically given up on doing so for Intense Voice. Dat last stream...

Probably doesn't help that my hands are frozen solid when I try to do this after work, so the scratches don't seem to function correctly.

Anyway. KH2.5 is out, and I'm pleasantly surprised by Re:coded. Very few text areas, but they're narrated by Mickey, and proceed automatically. BBS is next on the list for me, having never played it before (damn the fact that it's UMD only on the PSP).

I don't even know why, don't bother asking me.

I'm also (very slowly) playing through FFXIII right now.
I believe that the map variety will include things that aren't corridors in the next 10 hours or so of gameplay.
Maybe.

Maybe.
Eventually.

I didn't HATE the game, but the first parts are in fact really railroady and there's little to nothing you can do about it.  Once you get to a certain point, though, a whole slew of options open up to you. (Also the part in question has absolutely -gorgeous- scenery, IMO, though most of the game does anyway)

  • Can you feel the LOVE tonight?
Was playing Disgaea 4 APR and i discovered that by doing postgame missions that get you characters from the previous games actually increase levels of the enemies in DLC scenarios. Namely Fuka & Desco Show and Time Leap. So i made it to last chapter of Time Leap and thought that getting
Spoiler:
   Etna
would be nice and will help me, since she's level 500 when you recruit her. I come back and the map that had enemies in the range of 500 leveled up to 1000+. I thought what the hell, but since i overwritten my save file i was kinda stuck. I tried it and from the looks of it it seemed really hard, but doable. And somehow i managed to beat that level 1000 map with average party level of 500 + level 600
Spoiler:
   Valzy
you automatically get. Man was it a challenge. I kinda stacked the odds in my favor by having Plenair and her +10% to ally stats and the other character you get in the scenario that has +10% to ally stats and -10% to enemy stats when she is on the field. Plus having lots of fire users since enemies have crippling -75% fire resist, plus one of said fire users deals 20% more damage if enemy level is higher than her. But it was still closer to level 600 versus level 900 and i had really stategize with unit positions, combo attacks and all that. And when the boss of the map attacks you it's like having 75k damage in a cross shape. And highest hp i had in my party was like 50k. So i had to sacrifice someone to bait the boss into range and then gang-up on him. Plus the map has enemy reinforcements and you can't just turtle. All in all it was really satisfying to actually pull it off. And that's what i like about Disgaea games. Yes it's grindy as hell, but with proper strategy and tactics you can do anything.

Well, back to grinding I go.

I started Fate/Hollow Ataraxia when I learned that the patch was completed a while ago. And now I'm hooked.
Heck, I play more of this than I play Pok?mon.

  • I said, with a posed look.
I have returned to one of my favorite RPGs of all time, Fallout 3.

One of the things I love most about this game (without claiming that this is something unique to FO3) is that there are so many ways to play it. I've done the main quest. I've done Sidequest Quest. I've done Map Quest (i.e., trying to find all the locations in the Capital Wasteland). I've even considered doing what JT once talked about: making a character who tries to survive solely through Unarmed Combat, punching all the more stronger from continuous and heavy drinking. While I haven't gone that far, I have decided to try and play a kind of "stealth combat" version - relying a lot on Sneak, trying to see without being seen and, when killing, following the rule of making sure they never see it coming, and never feel a thing. Merciful, I'd say.

Also, I lost Dogmeat at the GNR building - he was caught in the blast of a Mini Nuke while I was trying to take down the Behemoth. Why didn't I tell him to stay put? WHY? This will haunt me forever...

A dozen or so dungeons later, I'm tired of playing again and have a good enough idea about how spellcasting is best used in Daggerfall, so time to stop. My weak mage got competent enough to handle most usual situations, and for what can't be handled easily I got the ideas how to deal with stuff. High level spellcasters remained a problem since I neglected all magic schools except Destruction (all attacking spells are there, duh) and, to a much lesser extent, Restoration (healing, duh). Little wonder, since outside of anti-magic spells they have literally only one or two unarguably useful spells each, and even those were needed only on rare occasions. Well, extensive use of trainers can help with that at least partway, but it's best done early, so whelp.

That said, I'm DEFINITELY doing a LP someday. There's quite an amount of interesting random stuff that can be shown and I have a nice idea how to present it. Almost came to regret I didn't do one in some good moments, but since I was only testing how to play properly, it's better not to rush. Of course, it's postponed until I want to play this again, so it'll be quite a long while.

I'm having a surprisingly good time out on the streets in Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I'm less enthused on the fact that it's a Criterion game, so collectibles galore. Less so, all of the multiplayer trophies.

Oh, hey, a NX transfer event on Maplestory.
Now the rest of my characters don't look as ugly and my main doesn't have a million NX items lying around doing nothing.

Also, somebody stop me from playing this game.

And, since MS by itself isn't terrible enough, I also started playing Tera again.
Rolled a sorcerer this time around. The game seems to have gotten a lot easier than what I remembered.

I just knew Lancer vs Archer would be something to behold.

Started up TERA Online again.  Can't seem to fit in so far, the community seems very...immature thus far.

As for consoles I started up Ar Nosurge and got my tailfeathers kicked by a certain Boss.  And here I thought it was going to be easy!

Got kinda bored with SAO HF and am hooked on PDF2.

Been playing Code of Princess.  The party is Rise, Yukari, Teddie, and ...Lilith.  Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if Allegro started dropping bear puns.  Zozo is probably my favorite character so far, she gets the best lines and there's just so much *enthusiasm* when she's in battle.  All the characters are pretty fun to play as.  My only real complaint is guard is the shoulder buttons.  And to change planes you need to guard plus up or down.  I can't find where to remap the buttons.  I'd rather have Burst on the shoulder buttons and guard be X.  Actually I'd rather guard be A and remap the controls closer to Senran Kagura, but yeah.

Anyway, collectible hunts. Ugh. Almost as bad as megagrinding.

Also, Zant bottom tier.

Blasted through Dragon Age II.
Honestly, I liked the story and setup a lot more than DAO's, even if the last part was verging on straight dumb. Also hawke

Pokemans Y keeps goin' on and I'm in a much better spot than I used to be. I'm bringing in a sliggoo and a vaporeon for chuckles and raising two newbies at the same time has given me the most trouble since the second gym. It's both so wonderfully new and nostalgic at the same time in a comfortable manner that's always a joy to play.

Also giving Valiant Hearts: The Great War a try since it was on sale and seems so different. Who knew there would ever be a game about the first world war, and that it would be closer to a puzzle game?

Dork Souls 2 is on hold after my fifth (!) playthrough, this time as HEAVY WEAPONS GUY. A content patch and major revamp is coming to owners in a couple of months.

Playing Dragon Age: Inquisition
Really (/really/) disliked combat and the controls at first, but that got better after giving up on tactical view and trying to play it like DAO. I'm at Skyhold tight now, and so far it's p good. Also, Cassandra.

Bad Things:
-sera
-no click to move
-no autoattack
-tactical camera is a giant mistake
-no storage
-no hotbar tooltips
-inventory and equip screens are a pain
-some animations are iffy
-eyelashes and hair look horrible, also very few hairstyles
-female voice #2 isn't great
-most side quests are collection
-cutscenes stuck at 30fps
-big performance drops in populated areas
-holy shit they're actually trying to sell you game currency freemium style for multiplayer....... when you bought the thing for at least $40 at the absolute cheapest............

A pet peeve: the first Streets of Rage game is NOT how you do character balancing. In it, you don't choose your strengths, you choose your weakness. What's the difference? The game feels like it's supposed to be played with a character that is good in all fields. Unlike later games, where all characters play differently and have strengths and weaknesses because of their styles, here they are all played in the same style, except each lacks something that style is supposed to have. Axel has almost no range on jumping attack, and that's actually the least harmful weakness - jumping attacks are never more useful that usual attacks, thankfully. Blaze does less damage, which means some enemies get an extra chance to ruin your day, never a good thing. Adam has the worst weakness - lower movement speed and attack speed. The former means it's impossible to avoid some attacks. The latter means that enemies can break out of your combos. This can't even be described as making the game harder. It's making it stupidly unfair.

Anyway, I'm done ranting about a game nobody else plays nowadays anyway. However, I'm really enjoying Streets of Rage 2 these days. Certainly my favourite one from the series.

uggggh Boston on a Friday ain't happening tooooo faaaaaar, but I've got this coming up next month.  My sister and I couldn't decide on which performance we wanted to see more so we decided to get nosebleed seats and go to both TREAT YO SELF.

As for games TOO MANY GAMES since I decided to actually crack open that Steam account and also husband got me a Wii U so whoops.  DKC Tropical Freeze is so fun but I see why they give out extra lives like candy also co-op is hard and we died literally 40 times because the stupid bridge catches fire when we're on the stupid rhino and aaaaaaa.

Today I found out there was a new version of goddamn CRIMSONLAND so I was all over that shit all day. It was, and still is, absolutely glorious. Highly recommended to anyone who likes top-down shooters or just arcade-style action games in general and doesn't mind, ahem, small quantities of blood on the rare occasion.

daioujou, probably going to stop soon though, the difficulty is pretty much making it impossible for me to like this game. Mushi futari, this game is amazing.

Mushihimesama, good and finally f/ha which is pretty good

oh and dodonpachi resurrection, also dislike it's mechanics and the game feels even more difficult.

I love how I manage to Perfect Melt on Hard and then immediately flop Glory 3usi9.

Anyway, just trying to find three more gates on NFSMW, then onto the MP trophies.

Also another limited selection event will be happening soon on ACI, in honor of Heartbreak One. I'd love to break out the old Frogfoot, but I think I'll stay with the higher leveled Phantom II. Still trying to save up for the Spirit, after all.
