Argh... I'm tired of the never-ending "AppLocale vs Unicode/Fonts" dilemma. If I use Applocale, danmakufu can't handle most of the fonts (changing them to some other; I wish there was a way to make specific font to be accepted by danmakufu). If I try to get rid of Japanese text, I can't use Japanese characters (but I need some of them, like ♪ or wide whitespaces because multiple normal whitespaces are automatically trimmed) and the only option to get them is to use unicode which isn't supported by danmakufu. I really wish danmakufu to feature unicode support.

That's a good idea... if not just able to run in English Locale

PH3 runs in English Locale, just as long as you don't use a Japanese script.

I'm stuck for(ever) now in 0.12m, learning ph3 is a lot harder than learning 0.12m for me... but anyway that's off topic.

I wish to see a Phantasmagoria engine  :V

Phantasmagoria without netplay support loses a lot of its charm.
Who knows, maybe there will be an attempt of implementing Phantasmagoria in danmakufu when network support is implemented.

The moment network support is added for danmakufu, I'm dropping everything in favor of a phantasmagoria project.

While I would love to see network support, I'm doubtful that it will be added :(

that would require a not-half-assed piece of netcode, which in and of itself is a tiresome endeavor, having worked with networking a little bit, I sure as hell don't want to touch that shit with a ten-foot pole. Not to be pessimistic about it, while it would be an awesome and welcome addition, yah, it seems like it would be a bit too much to expect.

Has someone tried making a StB-engine in ph3?

I remember seeing something similair at the release of ph3, but since then, nothing.

I've tried making a DS engine, but I haven't touched it in a while and it's not completed; it's missing scoring, proper lasers, the menu, and some graphics.

How much it's difficult to port from 0.12 to ph3? I heard it's difficult but is it that much difficult that sometimes it's easier to implement the script from scratch than port it? Technically there is StB for 0.12 so I thought if it's doable to port it to ph3.

It's easy (but tedious) to port things over, but a project as large as the StB one might take some time to transfer everything, to the point where I'd simply just suggest starting from scratch, but I'm honestly not sure; I haven't looked at the guts of the code.

Define the word 'hard'.

Nothing is hard in my opinion (well, banging your head against concrete is), it just requires effort to do so.

Hard is misused word :V

Phantasmagoria could be awesome without netplay. In fact, it should be, since netplay alone doesn't make a bad game into a good one.

But proper netplay makes a good game into a great game :) And great game is worth to spend time to create.

Rewriting the whole thing would be the same amount (if not more) work than the original engine.

Actually, I always wondered why the resolution by default was only something like 800x600. I tried changing it using the config but as expected it was only a scaling. Plus the fullscreen mode (yep, I'm a noob who doesn't play in screen modo =V) has these two horrible grey stripes on both sides of the screen (I use a laptop sooo...). It's kind of frustrating to see this when the stripes on touhou games and danmakufu 0.12m are black. The pixelisation of the images also is a real nightmare to me. I already posted about this in the question thread, even if this isn't really a technical question, but I wonder if this will eventually be fixed in the final release (which is perhaps about to come since I see a loooot of updates these days).

Oh, and please excuse my bad english, i'm not a native speaker ^^;

That's another thing with me is all my sprites come out jpg-like quality (which ruins them  :ohdear: ) -- I wish the engine wouldn't do that

This may seem redundant, but I wish that there was a function that could let you choose what colour would come out as transparent when used in Danmakufu instead of it always being Black (0,0,0). This would be helpful if you wanted to get rid of the background of an image, for example, that had a background that was completely red. You could use this function to set the Transparent color to red. By the way, before any of you say that you could just change the background color using Photoshop or GIMP, I've tried it already but it would mess up the actual image as well as the background.
It's just an idea, but I think it would be helpful.

SetTransparancyColor(R,G,B) Is an example of how I would imagine it would look like.

Trying to understand what you meant for some time but not sure if I get it.
There is some image with one specific color X which you would like to make to be a transparent one, right? I just can't get why setting specific color to be transparent in the actual image beforehand doesn't work. Can you show some examples of what you want and what you actually get if you try to use image editors to set transparency?

An example.
[attach=1] has a white background.

[attach=2] is the result after using the Magic Eraser in Photoshop.

 The result isn't huge, but its visibly wrong. It would be easier to set the specific colour for transparent as the specific white of the background (The white of the fan, and white of the background, are slightly different, so Danmakufu, being the precise thing it is, should be able to distinguish between them, like it does with pure black (0,0,0) and almost black (1,1,1) ), than meet up with something like this.

That would only work if the "BG" has no JPG/JPEG artifact going on, though possible idea, to decide the alpha colour for transparency. I am not quite sure though how that gives you effectively benefit over the regular transparency with PNG files. In Photoshop you can set tolerance and precise colour selection before "deleting" it. Using the magic stick randomly is just being blunt. Some careful editing is always required.

Hm, not sure if I did it right (I'm not so knowledgeable about graphics) but I did transparency two ways:
1) quite strange, not sure if it's worth to describe (convert + GIMP). I'll just show the result of it for now.

[attach=1]

2) Just used KolourPaint to fill those colors I wanted with with transparent one.

If you wanted to swap matching the single color (0, 0, 0) to match (255, 0, 0) instead, you would just use a fill tool and replace every (255, 0, 0) pixel in the image with (0, 0, 0).

Really the solution is to use ph3 and not have to deal with any of that crap at all.

Starting slow and steady with PH3, learning the basics and goofing around with variables BV !
By the way, is there an equivalent to CreateShotA in ph3? The wiki says that there isn't, I know, but is it possible to make an equivalent function; everyone says that you can do anything in PH3, so hopefully that's possible. I know that you could use let obj = CreateShot... And the ObjMove(obj,...) series, but it's getting a bit confusing with my horrible knowledge.

The AddPattern series is the direct successor to CreateShotA, but it's really more intuitive and easy to work with, plus it works for all Move objects, not just shots.
Firing bullets from other shots after a certain amount of time is done with ObjShot_AddShot.

...Well, at first I thought that if it was still listed like that then it should be updated or something, but

- CreateShotA
        There is currently no ph3 equivalent.
        However, you can use a bullet object's ID in conjunction with the ObjMove series of functions.
- SetShotDataA
        ObjMove_AddPatternA3 (Angular Velocity and Acceleration arguments are switched. A1, A2, and A4 variants also work similarly)
- SetShotDataA_XY
        ObjMove_AddPatternB3 (Angular Velocity and Acceleration arguments are switched. B1 and B2 variants also work similarly)
Functions used to control object movement. The AddPattern functions also serve as replacements for the CreateShotA system used in 0.12m.
