Razer Sabertooth Gamepad dpad does not register only sticks.

Is this normal for touhou games? Also would my best bet be to use JoytoKey? My Os is windows 7 64bit.

The issue i am having is that the d pad on my controller does seem to work in any touhou games. For example if i wanted to move my character to the right, I would press the right d pad button. The gamepad sticks work and control movement but I would prefer the d pad.

My question is this normal and is the only way to use the d pad through third party software?

Yeah. As far as I'm aware, none of the games will recognize the d-pad on their own, so you have to use something like joytokey or xpadder.
