This show puts so much effort into its gags but almost none of them are funny :(

So it's season 2 of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan?

I'm sorry, that anime does not exist.  Please try your reference again later.

Edit: I finished the second half of kitakubu ep 2 and it's not that the jokes aren't funny, but... I dunno, there's no energy or something.  Or they drive home the punchline too hard.  Hmm.

Meanwhile, servant x service 2.

It occurs to me that both SxS and Working have female protagonists who are both short and well-endowed :V

It also has better characters and better everything else than a lot of other shows this season.

So!

Kitakubu -

Neptunia doesn't have terrible animation quality. This is a good sign.

Speaking as someone who never really expected from the neptunia anime cause it would've been all too easy to just make it a cheesecake festival, pleasant pleasant surprise.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it being exceptionally good, but considering the budget and that it's also anime original, it's actually a decent watch if you already enjoy the characters.
e: Of course there could be a case of First Episode Syndrome.
Also the ED is great.

Can you call it anime original if it was based on a well-established series of video games?

EDIT: If you're talking about what semblance of a "premise" it had, you call that an "anime adaptation" >_>

Watched Prisma Illya.  It was about what I expected.

Neptunia was better than expected.  I was expecting a trainwreck of bad animation, but they did okay.  Still a lot of pans/stills though.

OK, I really enjoyed the Rozen Maiden re-boot. It just feels more polished, both in terms of art and direction, than the original. And I say this as a huge fan of the series (long-time Desuchan denizen here).

Watamote, on the other hand ... you know I couldn't even finish the first episode? I'm not sure if it's because I already read the manga, but every step of the way just felt so forced. It was just painful to watch.

Service x Servant is so formulaic I could tell what this was going to be about and what the traits of the different characters were going to be from the OP alone. And the first episode bore this out. Yawn.

Still have to try Love Lab and Monogatari, but yikes - this season is not shaping up too well so far.

"Human history and growth are both linked closely to strife. Without conflict, humanity would have no impetus for growth. When humans are satisfied with their present condition, they may as well give up on life."

Oh I was talking about the story. It's not completely following any of the 3 games.

Fantasia Doll - Decent plot about Magical Dolls and Magical Cards. Like Cardcaptor and Angelic Layer+Rozen Maiden mixed together. Directed by the same person who did Haganai. I praise the animation, good quality and it's pretty exceptional.
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMAILLYA - Everything I expected it would be. Pretty good.
Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou - Weird in every way, but if you're looking for decent comedy, this'll be fine.
Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou - Again with the Magical Cards. Interesting plot, and good quality animation. Will be expecting more from this.
New Rozen Maiden - Has better animation quality than I expected. Clear improvement from the old series. Still hate the main character(Jun) though...spineless.

I think the meme Well, That Escalated Quickly applied in this. I was expecting the business of ep 1 to continue, but this was... whoah! Nice

Neptunia however... remind me again why I should watch this? I mean I love boobs but this is kinda silly.
Fate Kaleidliner  - anyone who read the manga will know where this is going, and it won't be until season 2 when shit gets serious, and even then, there is no real ending to it.... (consider both installments of part 1 and part 2 are literally ended with 'do you wanna continue? well, I ain't givin you shit' by the author. )

You don't watch neptunia unless you liked the source material, really, or you're else wise interested in said source material.

The only thing from this season I'm following seriously right now is Kiniro Mosaic, because hot damn, its cute, its funny and it managed to retroactively invent moe somehow. Had to punch ten holes in the wall to regain my manliness after the first episode alone, and as of the second, I will do so with glee for the next ten weeks. If you're not watching anything else from this season, you're watching this. Its pretty much mandatory. Best SoL/Feel good show in much too long, at least for now.

Chronicles of the Going Home Club is rather abysmal. Painfully generic artstyle, cruddy voice acting, next to nothing in the way of funny gags (not to mention this complete lack of passion in said gags), its a mess. The girls are cute, though it'd be better if they weren't so heavily ripped off inspired by K-on (the first three) and Kodomo no Jikan (Sakura). The references are either too obscure, possibly even for native Japanese, or much too painfully forced. The scouter joke in ep two was especially bad. THEN it drags it out long after its worn out its welcome. Actually, I can say that about every gag, honestly. Especially the whole Tsukkomi bit. It is unbelievable how much they're abusing that bit. I feel like this show is trying to be Setokai no Ichizon or some other, similar show and its really not working. Since I've sat through two episodes, I'm obligated to give it one more chance via the third, but three strikes you're out.

Fantasista Doll I'm only watching for the cute, cute girls. :|  The battle scene in the first episode was interesting, but the rest felt a little disjointed. Contrary to those who felt it was too slow, I felt it was a bit too fast, especially the latter half when the protagonist just seems to make peace with the extraordinary circumstances a bit to quickly and easily for my tastes. Giving it two more eps.

Been halfway interested in Rozen Maiden, so may or may not check out the reboot along with Prism Ilya for the lulz.

Please tell me Rozen Maiden Z slows down on EP2. The visuals look that much better for me to consider it ;  ;
Also Prismal Illya ep 1 was about what I expected. The drawing style making Shirou look younger threw me off.

Consider episode 1 just a prologue. Episode 2 is a complete changeup of the story, taking place in basically an alternate world where Jun said he wouldn't wind the key. In this story, he's much older. (Not actually spoilers, I had read a synopsis of the story before it even aired and knew that much. Episode 1 did have me confused, though....)

What is spoilers though, however, is that
Spoiler:
older!Jun finds a series of magazines that come with doll parts, and he assembles the doll, which is mentioned to be Shinku. He is later contacted by his past self requesting help by the younger Jun from the alternate world/timeline, and needs help from him, since Kirakishou has defeated almost all of the other dolls-- only Kanaria remains with him. And that's pretty much where it leaves off
(Read only if you want to see if you're interested in watching still, of course.)

I think it's pretty intriguing so far, honestly.

I felt the same way. I really had to force myself to finish the first episode... then again, I felt the same way about Neptunia, so maybe I'm just getting jaded. Maybe I'm becoming inured to the high-pitched cadences of anime and becoming a boring middle-aged person, and then 10 years from now Purple Heart will come and bring me back to the 2D world to fight bad guys and regain my youthful sense of wonderment, like in Hook

oh man did I just come up with a plot for anime of the year 2014

New Rozen Maiden - High PRODUCTION QUALITY but other than that it was weird because of the recap.
Spoiler:
Also killing off Hinaichigo and DESU in the first episode is bound to be very jarring for viewers
It's too early to call it terrible or bad or anything though, will have to give it more episode.

By the sounds of it it's dealing with the fact season 2 was filler and catching up to where it should have ended.
Spoiler:
With Shinku's battle with Kirakishou.

P.S. Wrong one, that was desu's twin sister

This will be covering the second manga (the one with the title in just katakana), which is alt universe but needs you to know the ending of the original one.

Genshiken Second Season oh god yes, perfect just like the other two seasons were. Dealing with transgender and sexuality issues in episode one, and handling it brilliantly.

-monogatari needs more Araragi, though Senjougahara and Black Hanakawa can still hold their own for dialogue, the others need a foil.

Kinmoza may the diabetes be with you.

Fate/ Kaleid Liner ~ Prisma Illya slapstick stickslap? TypeMoon  x Merrie Melodies fanservice in which Illya makes up for not having a route in F/SN by emasculating Rin's character and becoming a magical girl.
