Character stuck bombing if game suddenly minimizes

First off, let me say hello. *waves* I'm new. Anyways, I'm having a horrible issue that possibly ruined my all time high score.

Those moments where your character suddenly starts going in one direction, but you can usually get them unstuck by hitting the numpad keys/arrows? It's like that, but the character is not only stuck going in one direction, she's going down and right, and blows up all her bombs. I can't pause the game, I can't alt F4... It's as if Yukari is saying: You're beating up Ran, I can't have that and gap hacks into my game or something to prevent me from leaving, wanting me to watch my demise. Only way is if I alt tab and right click on it and exit.

It does this in PCB, and in EoSD. None of the other games, just those two. I turned off the thing that was making the game minimize, but.. if this were to suddenly happen again, I'd wanna know how to get out of it. I was possibly going to finally beat my friend's score T_T

Has anyone had this happen, or been able to get out of it?

I did try to search, but all I found was the numpad thing, but as I said, it doesn't want to work when this happens. Believe me, I smashed every single darn key to try and get it to work.

Well, many games virtually keep the key pressed if they're unselected while the key's still being pressed, and I'm pretty sure that's unavoidable. I used that in my favor in some windowed games, making my character move infinitely in one direction, or if they had a fast forward key or run key, keep the game fast until I pressed that key again. But I just tested doing this manually in fullscreen PCB and it didn't work... which might be something else, maybe your keyboard or some driver thing.

The thing about you being unable to Alt + F4 the game is because the key stuck probably would conflict with either Alt or F4, causing one of these being ignored, which is a common issue with laptop keyboards and there's no way other than remapping the keys.

Alternatively, you can play in window mode (you can increase the size of the window with Vsync Patch). PCB and EoSD are the only Touhou games that instantly pause when the window is unselected, which makes it safer in some way.

Well the Alt F4 thing, it goes black for a minute as if to exit the game, but then it just comes right back to the screen and I'm just there flailing. I can't move my character at all and she'll blow up all her bombs T^T It's just the weirdest thing.

It's done this on other computers I've played on too. If the game is suddenly minimized, then all the above happens. I mean I don't think it would happen again since I turned off the Autocare on my ASC. I'll just run it manually every time I get on since I do that anyway, but if it DID ever happen again, I'd want a solution. Thanks for the response though! I'm gonna look into that vsync thing you mentioned.

Actually, I can recreate this event. I figured maybe doing a video rather than just telling what happened. *goes to do so*

The Vpatch also fixes the input delay, which can be already fixed in PCB and IN if you turn off the vsync thing in the config.exe, but it's needed to play EoSD and MoF pleasantly.

A possible (kinda unlikely, but useful to some extend) solution is increase the key buffer size. Look for all instances of KeyboardDataQueueSize in registry and change their value from 64 to 150, and then restart your PC. That's supposed to fix virtual problems with key hanging, but Idk if it'd help with your problem.

Otherwise, the only way I can think of is just closing anything that could pop out a window (browser, messenger, etc, and make sure you disabled Stick Keys), since even without that problem, sudden minimization could put yourself in a risk situation sometimes. :V

Okay well.. I don't know how to get my recording program to record just the window.. so for some reason, the video looks strange. I can assure you though that when I'm playing, my screen doesn't look like this. I tried to get the recording ratios to match, but I didn't know what size the game was either xD;

Either way, I AM fullscreen when playing, but the recording doesn't look that way. Either way, it shows what I needed to show, the character getting stuck bombing.

I did turn off everything that could possibly minimize my game though, so hopefully I won't have another issue with this ever again.. but still. IF it did.. halp?
