PC-98 On Mac/Wine -- No Sound Whatsoever
« on: February 13, 2013, 05:14:34 AM »
I've been looking all over the interwebz for an answer to this question and have, so far, come up fruitless. I'm a newbie to the world of Touhou and I'm kind of a stickler for playing games in order no matter how big or little the significance. I have Next running on Wine on my Mac just fine--This games all play nice and smooth but I can't for the life of me get sound. At all. I see a lot of topics of people having trouble with the sound syncing up etc. etc. but I can't even get *any.* After googling for hours and getting nowhere some help would be appreciated!

Nevermind guys--I figured out it was a problem with my Wine and not my emu. Thanks anyway though!

Post the solution anyways, for future PC-98 fans who use Linux. All seven of them in the known universe would probably benefit from the advice.

"Human history and growth are both linked closely to strife. Without conflict, humanity would have no impetus for growth. When humans are satisfied with their present condition, they may as well give up on life."

Ahaha very funny.  -_-

I'm actually using Neko Project II now, but it didn't have anything to do with that. I wasn't getting sound out of anything I ran with Wine. Turns out Wine was searching for a nonexistent sound source. I went into the terminal and opened up "regedit" (just type that into the terminal) and then went into the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Drivers and then deleted the "Audio" entry. It forces Wine to search for the correct audio source.

Anyway, it has nothing to do with PC-98 emulation but it may help a wandering googler down the road.
