I need more consistency on some of these patterns. There's just too much of a PIV penalty for getting hit.

Also I experimented with some supergrazing on stage 1. I'm not sure how much of an effect graze has, though.

I wrote a few more notes about the gameplay mechanics here.

I decided to try the sequel, since it seemed to have a better camera angle and soundtrack, among other things. It's much more fun than the first game. At least from my impression so far.

It seems point items on Very Easy (why does this mode exist anyway?) are worth 100 points, plus 1 per 100 graze. It may seem like very little, but I think it adds up. If you can gain 1500 graze off Kogasa's and Shou's nonspells (simple enough if you don't overshoot Shou's second nonspell like I did here), times 8000 point items, it'll be worth 120,000 extra points, more than an average spell bonus.

Anyway, I had some silly spell failures here, and haven't learned a consistent method for collecting point items on stage 4 and 5 yet, so this is easily improvable by at least 300k. Iku's star spell seems like it's just surprisingly hard, though, unless there's a trick I'm missing.

Ooh, I found a glitch!

Actually, I've seen it before in... Uwabami Breakers, I think it was? But I discovered it accidentally here.

Anyway, the idea is that if you bomb a spell while it's activating, you'll still deal damage, but won't lose the spell bonus (in contrast with the official Touhou games where either you fail the spell anyway, or the bomb deals no damage after the spell begins). It's not fully utilized yet, since I wasn't always thinking about it. It's probably good to bomb as many spells as you can, though there are some places (e.g. both boss Yuyuko and Iku use 4 spells in a row) where it doesn't look possible to suicide for the bomb refill without losing a capture bonus.

Please excuse the extremely silly and costly mistake at the end. After getting hit on the final spell (cost ~130,000 from the spell bonus), I decided to stall for graze to increase the value of the final point items by a few ten-thousands, but forgot that this game's patterns time out the instant the displayed timer reaches 00 (as opposed to 1 second later). So 500 point items didn't spawn, costing an additional 142,500 points right there.

Anyway, aside from that, I think I have a decently polished scoring route for Very Easy now, that should be worth at least 3.8m without mistakes.

Edit: Fixed Very Easy PIV-- it should be 1 per 100 graze, not 1 per graze.

Looks like I underestimated, as usual. Failed Iku's first spell because this was like the first time she ever aimed at me in all my attempts, so I wasn't expecting to need to dodge. Everything else was captured, though I think there were a few spells where I planned to bomb but forgot.

3 failed spells. The first one was from unfamiliarity with the Easy version after playing the Very Easy version (the difficulties are for the most part not that different, probably because this game's range is spread over 7 difficulties instead of 4), but the other two were rather silly (the final one was from failing to press X when I was trying to bomb).

I sort of wish there was a clear bonus for remaining lives, around the level of DDC, that way there'd be not as much incentive to spend lots of bombs on easier collection during stage portions (even still finishing with 3 lives with my current route)... well, this route will have a use for a few more bombs on Normal, at least.

I decided to give the first game a try, and here's what I got so far:

Suwapyon 2010 - Easy - A
SomeGuy712x - 352,494,100 - C - 0.11% - Replay

Suwapyon 2010 - Easy - B
SomeGuy712x - 383,227,140 - C - 0.13% - Replay

Suwapyon 2010 - Normal - A
SomeGuy712x - 755,888,070 - C - 0.08% - Replay

Suwapyon 2010 - Normal - B
SomeGuy712x - 796,791,400 - C - 0.08% - Replay

Suwapyon 2010 - Extra - B
SomeGuy712x - 1,480,063,730 - C - 0.02% - Replay

I haven't 1cc-ed Extra with Shottype A yet, but I was surprised that the game let me use continues on Extra. Also, I haven't tried the other difficulties yet.
SomeGuy712x:
Alright, I've now 1cc-ed Extra with shottype A, as well as the Hard difficulty with both shottypes:

Suwapyon 2010 - Extra - A
SomeGuy712x - 1,438,731,780 - C - 0.01% - Replay

Suwapyon 2010 - Hard - A
SomeGuy712x - 1,226,175,930 - C - 0.05% - Replay

Suwapyon 2010 - Hard - B
SomeGuy712x - 1,208,519,620 - C - 0.04% - Replay

Now I believe I just have Lunatic and "Hidden" left to play.
SomeGuy712x:
Suwapyon 2010 - Lunatic - A

Wow, that True Last Boss... Took me a few tries to beat him!
