>Does it? If so: "True enough. All right, then. We'll do it your way." then return Malus to normal.
>If not: "Actually, no."

> Yes, since Malus has a limit to how far it can extend, to about twice it's normal length, or striking would risk breaking the thinner handle.

> You slash to counter-attack, but she raises her arm and blocks the scythe with it, without any damage being done outside a small scratch. You guess this is since she fights without a weapon, so she's pretty tough. The same rainbow aura appears when her arm blocks the scythe too.

> Meiling looks at her arm for a second, before she vanishes.

No time for thinking then. Although I'm pretty sure you can't adjust your trajectory when you're falling without any help...

>Hop backwards until we're out of range.
>If we get out of range: slash at her when she comes down.
>If not: drive Malus' handle upwards into her gut.

Almost everyone in Gensokyo can fly, and you can adjust it easily by shifting your weight and position so air resistance makes you change direction somewhat. It's how skydivers do it.

> You keep going backwards, and manage to scramble out of range of Meiling's foot that hits the ground. There is a rather large dent made in the ground where she lands.

> You counter-attack with a slash of your scythe, but Meiling grabs the sides of it with her palms, and then makes a motion as if she's gonna... headbutt you.

>Extend Malus' handle into her face.

> You will Malus to extend, and it does, although the position is more a bash in the face with the non-sharp edge, still, the speed Malus reacts causes her tyo let go and stumble a step back, more out of surprise.

A bash with the non-sharp edge was actually intended. Regardless:

>Thrust the scythe toward her chest.

> A scythe isn't really a thrusting weapon, but you shove Meiling's chest as a follow up anyway. This doesn't achieve anything, except giving you a better impression of her bust size.

> Meiling knocks the scythe to the side, and performs a quick-step towards you, ready to punch your gut.

>Can we put as much force behind a slash as behind a thrust?

I'm under the impression not.

>Are we slashing to make contact with the tip or the chine?

> Actually you can put more force, since the swing arc is generally larger, so the scythe picks up a lot more speed.

> Generally more contact area is more effective, and the more of the scythe you aim to hit with the more the target has to dodge. You may not have fought for a while but you've not forgotten Komachi's Scythe-Fu 101!

I'm learning things about scythes here.

>Knock her arm away with an upwards sweep.
>Assuming this is effective, charge the tip back down into her shoulder.

[Yeah, Force is linked to Velocity and Mass. The mass of Malus is set, so to increase the power of a blow, you swing faster.

A slash exerts the force over a larger area than a downward swing aimed to use the tip, like what you are doing this post. This basically means while a slash using the whole blade can cut more because... you're cutting more area, the smaller area tip would exert all the force in one place, which means more damage to a small area can be caused than a slash.

If Meiling was wearing metal plate armor for some reason, a Slash would do nothing, but what you are doing this post would puncture the armor, since all the force is concentrated into a small area.

Tl;Dr: Slashes cause less damage to a larger area, impaling in the manner you are now causes more damage to a far smaller area.]

> You sweep the scythe in a defensive motion to deflect Meiing's arm, before you bring the scythe back down to it's point stabs her shoulder. Meiling reacts quickly to this, and pushes it out before it goes too deep, and jumps back. You did hurt her, however, with her left arm hanging a little limp, and the green dress going a little red around the shoulder.

> You're not surprised to see the blood flow stop quickly. Meiling did claim she heals quickly. Her arm's still limp, so you just guess her blood clotted very quickly.

I know all that, but I was thinking more along the lines of how easy it is to actually cause damage to flesh. When you're slashing, a large portion of kinetic energy doesn't affect the foe at all and serves merely to direct your scythe in a different direction. With a thrust, all of the kinetic energy is aimed straight at your opponent.
blahblahblah, it's all settled anyway, let's get on with it

>How are we and Meiling currently positioned?
