Kisume Quest IV - A Z-Machine Adventure

>"She was only here a couple minutes, doing some prayer ritual thing," says Nazrin. "No idea what it was about, but she seemed pretty annoyed, so I let her do it."
>You open up the note. You notice that it is scrawled on one of the loose pages, this one adorned with ideograms that look like birds, eyes, silhouettes of people, and other weird things.  The note is quickly scrawled and a little hard to read: "Kanako-sama needs me at shrine ASAP. Something big. Probably not related. Sorry. Maybe something southeast of Scarlet Mansion? -S"

I strongly suspect they're related to that renegade farmer guy. They're hatching some plot to wake up a prince, or something. Whatever it is, it's important enough to them that the guy threw a shuriken at the blue-white to get away from her. If she was steaming, that was why."

>You leave the shop and it's contingent of recently-enlightened faeries behind, and begin to fly Northeast.
>There is a fair amount of northeast to be had, and as you leave the forest behind, you find yourself adjusting your path more and more to avoid heading toward youkai mountain again. Flying over the plains, you don't notice anything particularly awry, just waves of grass that look a bit less brown than they did this morning. The air is clear and quite comfortably warm now, and as much as you may hate to admit it, you've gotten reasonably used to the open sky. Not so much that you wouldn't be happy to find a nice corridor to lurk in. but being outdoors is no longer really bothersome anymore.
>Soon you pass by the village, some distance to your left, and can see a road leading into another forest, close to the foot of the eastern mountains. Looking around, you can see a little clearing with a building in it, near a small pond at the eastern reaches of the woods.

>You make your way toward that building.
>It is quite distinctive, as you get closer to it. A small shrine, its roof battered by time and weather, but decently intact. Old timbers, seeing more ancient than the forest around them. It's not a large place; you are pretty sure the puppeteer youkai's home is more spacious. Wild grasses fill the yard, while a small but clean-looking pond sits in back. Near the front, almost obscured by the trees from the air, is a red torii that is in need of some new paint.
>You land on the stone path leading toward the front doors, and see a woman with pink hair drawn into buns sitting on the stairs. She wears an green skirt, and brown tabbard over it with vine motifs and a rose on her chest. Her left arm seems to be injured badly, judging by the bandages wrapped around it. She doesn't seem to be doing anything in particular, and watches you as she lands. You notice a small ghost dancing in the air around her.

>"I am afraid not," says the woman. "I was hoping to meet her myself, to be honest. But it seems she just let shortly. Well, at least according the faerie she keeps around."

>"Unfortunately not," says the woman, shaking her head. "But apparently it was very serious. The faerie said she really wanted to go, but Reimu convinced her to stay here and guard the shrine."

> "I wonder if she heard about the renegade farmer guy as well, then."

>"Well, the faerie didn't say anything about that, " says the woman, frowning, "But that sounds like a problem..."

>"That is sounds rather...troublesome," says the woman.
>She seems like she is going to say more, before you hear a suddenly surprised cry inside the shrine, followed by, "Hey! Get out of here you crumb bum!" A panicked cry quickly follows.

>"Well," says the pink-haired woman, "there's the faerie, but that other one..."
>You hear a panicked cry coming around the shrine. Looking northward toward it, you can see a blonde child-sized faerie dressed in white with a puffy white hat. She is running as fast as her legs will carry her, while holding a snake in one hand.  Close behind her is another fairy, this one dressed in green and not much larger than your hand, brandishing a wooden spoon over her head like an axe and crying out in rage.
