Ah okay. Was thinking about 2.5-3GB here, with 256-512MB set aside for server's background processes.

--- Quote ---I'll be happy to provide all the world files and plugins with configurations and whatnot. However, you'll likely need to come up with a new setup if you want to start on the most recent version, because many plugins are out of date, notably Multiverse. Bukkit's new policy of not running any "unsafe" code has hamstringed a lot of plugin development, but important stuff like lwc, dynmap, essentials is generally reliable in updating quickly.

I've gotten most plugins - at least those I believe that we use - working on a test 1.4.7 server I have running on my desktop, but haven't tested Multiverse (where I'm using the latest stable dev build) and Terrain Control yet.

I'm willing to help financially once I get a new Minecraft account :D

DX7.EP:

Seems we have a divide between those with money and those with admin/mod/maintenance experience! Makes me think that I'm among the few in the middle. :V

That aside, I'll probably run some more 1.4.7 Multiverse tests and then purchase a server later today.

EDIT: Multiverse confirmed to work fine on my test setup.
Additionally, a new server with 2.5GB RAM has been bought. It's now a matter of setting up and testing everything....

Stuffman:

Are you planning to just make a copy of the existing server, or will you be changing the plugin loadout, the world setup, etc?

DX7.EP:

I intend to keep the plugin layout and configs largely intact. There may be a few more additions, but they are minor and won't be geared towards changing the gameplay.

For world setup, I'm thinking of adding a second main world to what we currently have, probably a large biomes one pre-generated on my system and uploaded.

So basically it'll be much like the current server, with a few tangential additions to the standard experience. No crazy mod downloading like on the TF2 server, no no.
