Expenses lined up, it seems like it is FEASIBLE that I will be attending this thing! I just need my bestest buddy in the whole world to come through and arrange me a place to stay because I can't afford to spend much more than $200 just getting set up there. Because lord knows I'll probably end up buying a loot-bag full of stuff I don't need.
Note to self: Remember to bring loot-bag.

I went to small one in my hometown when I was like 17, but it was tiny and I spent most of it handcuffed to the girl I was crushing on and unable to perceive much else because of it. I also haven't been out of my state since I was two years old. Suffice to say, I am going to die. How painful should I expect my death to be? I need to know who to curse in my will.

TAKE ALL OF MY FREE TIME! There was a similar panel at AB last year and it was fantastic. It was a surreal experience to watch a panelist go through a collection of death scenes in which all the emotion and drama had been siphoned off and replaced with pure silliness, reducing it to a comedic spectacle. As morbid as that sounds, imagine Bad Anime, Bad! but focusing on a collection of death scenes. It's quite a show.

There's a handful of other ones in there that should be worth a look.

Also what's with the Nintendo panel and '1889'? Was that intentional? I would have figured it was a typo on 1989 but Nintendo's been around longer than that (1980, I think? Maybe '79?).

EDIT: I see multiple panels with Dr. Strangelove references in the title. I have to wonder if any of those panelists have actually watched the movie.

I also see a lack of Homestuck and Pony panels, which pleases me greatly. Unless I'm blind and missed them, which is very possible.

They started as a toymaking company (making playing cards or something) in 1889.

Yes! I remember reading in a Nintendo Power mag way back when that Nintendo started off almost a full century earlier making playing cards. If the panelists are well-versed in the company's history and go through much of what the audience is unlikely to know, it could be quite interesting.

Otakon is like AB in that they keep it to Asian culture based only so no worries there. They also instantly shoot down idiots who request like The Room director and Nostalgia Critic and other general nerd-dom things.
I wish I could say the same of my local con.

I'm definitely feeling all the food based panels because I like eating even if Aramark lays the smackdown on samples
