Otakon 2012 - get your guns on, July 27th-29th

(Disclaimer: Do not get your guns on in Baltimore, you will be murdered)

It's that time of year again.  Normally I wait until a major performing artist has been announced, but they're slacking on the announcements this year (even moreso than usual).

It's $70 this year if you register before June 16th; $80 otherwise.  Keep that in mind if you're planning on attending, though a $10 difference is becoming less and less meaningful as the prices go up every year. :/

Thus far we have one announced Japanese guest, Mr. Hidetaka Tenjin, famous for his Macross mechanical designs.  More are hopefully on the way.

Update 6/6/12: Aya Motherfucking Hirano will be performing live at Otakon.  Get hype.

Well getting the time off won't be an issue, and I'm sure my parents will let me stay at their place, so the only real issue is airfare. Which shouldn't be too expensive anyway so-

Hey, a topic relevant to me, yay!  Looking forward to this since it'll only be my second full-scale con.  Also my first time cosplaying(Well, it'll be crossplaying, but still) so it should be cool.

You've got summer classes?  That sounds kinda bleh.  Believe me, I'm sure there'll be a freakish imagedump by the time everything's said and done.  Probably several videos as well.

I could actually go this year, I've been saving up money...

But that's for visiting my sister in California in August/September, and since it's closer than Baltimore I'm not going to be there this year either. Maybe next time. if I could do both, I'd do it but yeah.

Seems cool then, sounds like downtown Toronto to an extent. Though I'd love to know great places to eat dinner there if there are any.

Your easiest bet would be to head down to the Inner Harbor, which is like two or three blocks away from the con, and has plenty of food choices. Phillip's is a good seafood restaurant, but there's plenty more on offer there.

I could get behind that kind of idea.  If I can bring my minifridge in case the room doesn't have one, I'd also probably bring yogurt since it's also ubercheap but effective.  Also cold to help counter the heat while in room hanging out with others, etc.  Beats getting really expensive restaurant food!  =D

Or if I want something with some more substance but no nutritional value I'm sure there'll be fast food around someplace.

Okay, let's either set up a server meet during the con or have a MotK TF2 LAN party :getdown:

At least going here should be cheaper than AB + PAX East. Not only due to better knowledge of the area (I go to DC regularly for various things) and less money spent on con tickets, but also I have a few more valid options to get there from Raleigh (flights, trains, even driving but that won't happen :P).
