As a warning Mystia's blindness effects everyone except her.  This is still fair to the terms of the duel as you are equally handicapped, but it's annoying.
I was aware of this.  The plan is that we try to position ourselves a fair distance away from our enemy so that we won't accidentally get hurt if they try something stupid.  It's mostly just for the deterrent factor though as it's likely to scare 'em.

Apparently, Thomas the Tank Engine isn't one to take crap from anyone.

> How likely is Rumia to eat anyone if we use Mystia's blinding song?
You'd have to tell her not to.

Quote
> How difficult would it be for Rumia to perform "Gruesome Finish" on one of the human guards?
About as hard as it is to kill them.

Quote
> Also, how do we recover health again?
One hitpoint per day, or whatever Daiyousei heals.
Mana recovers at 5 per day  currently.

Given Rumia's crossbow bolt has entered the brain, you are pretty sure one is dead.

That's a mighty fine question.

Just as a note, I recommend against scaring them off. We can't loot them if they run away.

Can't loot them, yes, but we get infamy and you can't buy infamy.

In that case, let's loot one or two of them and let the rest flee.

Current Suggestions:

Cirno - Do Nothing
Daiyousei - Do Nothing
Mystia - Do Nothing
Rumia - Do Nothing
Wriggle - Poison Swarm the Knight (1 vote)

I think we can take knightly alive, and get the best of both worlds.

That caitiff shall dance for our amusement!

Have the rest charge the retainers as well the can. with Cirno focusing on Knightsworth while he's dealing with the swarm.

I second Purvis's suggestion about keeping the knight alive (for now).

I vote Rumia uses Darkness Falls on the scared lackie so she can instant-kill him with A Horrible Fate.

Wriggle - Poison Swarm remaining 3 lackies
Mystia - Dismaying shout (1 word) the 3 lackies and the knight
Daiyousei - Danmaku remaining 3 lackies
Cirno - Melee attack knight into submission.

(Current Suggestions at 1.5 votes)

Cirno - Disarm the Knight
Daiyousei - Danmaku a lacky
Mystia - Dismaying shout
Rumia - Attempt to kill the scared human in a Darkness bubble.
Wriggle - Poison Swarm the Knight

Daiyousei's danmaku is single target due to the alteration of magic.

Currently there are 3 votes to take the knight alive.  For some reason.

Let's avoid kills and such. We're Gensokyoans, not some petty hootmans.

Also living guys can be made into lackies or used to spread the word.

While I am not opposed to keeping kill counts low, you are traveling with Rumia.  A pacifist run is out.

I will state now this will not happen.  There will be enough characters as is.  You might be able to use diplomacy to change the overall loyalties of some, but do not expect a constant source of aid.

This on the other hand can be done.  With varying results.

> Just how lethal is this setting, anyway? Realism-level-wise?
It's incredibly lethal.  For humans.  You non humans can take at least two or three times more punishment before giving up the ghost.  In addition powerful forces such as yourselves (or say human knights) tend to be favored by fortune.  Arrows, if they hit, seem drawn to your least vital spots, and swords tend to strike shallow.

I'll be calling for the listed plan
Cirno - Disarm the Knight
Daiyousei - Danmaku a lacky
Mystia - Dismaying shout
Rumia - Attempt to kill the scared human in a Darkness bubble.
Wriggle - Poison Swarm the Knight
Everyone but Rumia tries not to kill people.

After I finish breakfast, assuming no changes

"Saints preserve us!" screams the frightened guard as he fires his crossbow.  By cruel chance he was aiming at Rumia when he fired, and tough fear shook his hand she still took a grazing wound.

Knowing your friends bloodthirst you call out "Try to take them alive!"  But your distraction costs you.  While your friends are trying to pick targets one of the other guards shoots you.  The arrow takes you in the shoulder though your mail removes much of the force.  Another human lowers a crossbow at you, but Daiyousei bowls him over with a well placed shot.  He lies dazed and out of the fight.

Rumia hisses in annoyance at your command, but she rushes forward with knife drawn to lay low the terrified human.  She leaps at the man but in his terror he throws his crossbow at her and retreats towards his fellows.  She is forced to slap the weapon out of the way before continuing pursuit.

Turning back to the knight you swing your blade with great force at his sword.  It flies from his grip with the ringing of steel.  "Victory is mine!"  You say, placing your blade to his chest.

To your surprise he bats it away then tries to lunge for you.  "I will not be beaten by a mongrel like you!"  he screams.  You strike him in the face with your shield and he falls down to the ground again stunned.  That should keep him quiet until you control the field.  You turn to the remaining three guards, but while they seem confused at the fall of their leader, they do not yet seem ready to quit the field.

The final one aims at Wriggle and shoots a bolt, forcing her to duck during her summoning spell.  You see Wriggle grimace in pain as her magic burns her a little within.  However she finishes her spell and tosses it at the man.  "Best you start running, lest the bees make honey in your skull."  A buzzing swarm engulfs him and his spirit breaks.  He screams and flees towards a pond to hide from the biting mass.

As the last two guards hesitate Mystia turns towards them and sings out "Faas" in a ringing voice.  The wave of sound does not affect you, but the men blanch, drop their crossbows, and flee into the night.

Cirno has take 2 hp damage
Rumia has taken 2 hp damage
Wriggle has taken 2 hp damage

Cirno has bested a knight in single combat and feels like she understands more of her path.  From the chaos of this fight Cirno has gained Knights Strategy.  You will be informed of the initiative order when making battle choices.

You have three prisoners, one corpse and two foe currently running.  You expect the stunned humans to be out for another five minutes, while the poor fool hiding from Wriggle's swarm will be stuck there until Wriggle decides to let him go.  You can also guess from her expression that leaving Rumia alone with a prisoner will not end well for that captive.

You put away tour shield and nod to your companions.  "Good work my friends.  Let us take our rightful trophies and tend to our wounds."

Mystia quickly flies over to the unconscious guardsman.  "With pleasure friends.  A fine battle despite their cowardice."

"Guessing you want me to fish up that one that ran from me," Wriggle says calmly.  "I'll be getting to that then."

"Wriggle, you should not be so careless with your wounds," Daiyousei scolds.  "Wait but a moment, and I shall heal you."

A wave of green wind flows from Daiyousei's hands over Wriggle.  She smiles and bows to the other fairy.  "Thank you kindly, lady.  Glad I am that you keep track of our health."  She begins to head towards the pond where her swarm is flying.

Daiyousei then turns to you.  "And the same goes for you my knight.  If you must throw yourself to the for, have care for your body."  Once again she breathes over her hands, and a pleasant wind enfolds you.  You smile as the pain of your wounds fade away.

"Thank you my Lady.  But you should not worry overmuch."  You carefully untie the hair ribbon she gave you and return it to her.  "I kept the most important parts safe."  She flushes and shakes her head at that, but she does not comment as she ties her hair up once again.

"A fine raid this was!" Mystia says happily as she brings over the knights horse.  The war charger is unhappy, but it's obviously not as fractious as some of his breed.  "A steed, four swords, a lance, two lanterns, and all five crossbows, with sixty bolts.  And the knights armor of course should you wish to take it."

"I think I shall," you reply.  "He should be forced to re-earn his status for his misdeeds."  You create a knife and begin cutting off his plate armor.  You think the padding beneath is more trouble then it's worth though.

There's a harsh crunch from behind you and you turn to see Rumia squatting over the one she killed.  She gives you a look.  "What.  He was dead already.  And some of us need to feed, unlike fairies."

"Mayhaps you should be more discreet friend," you reply.

Rumia licks her lips, then nods.  "A fair request.  I shall have but a little until you are done with these scum."

"Entrails might be nice, should you not want all of your rightful kill," Mystia calls off, as Rumia drags the body a little further away.

Wriggle soon arrives with the one who fled, around the same time that his friend began to wake.  The fight seems to be gone from them.  "Honest Sir Knight, we don't have anything against you.  We was just following orders, sir.  Please spare us."

You look down upon them with scorn.  Simple men, simply moved it seems.  "I shall consider it, but your weapons are now mine by right."  They shiver and look towards the ground.

The knight stirs and you once again place your sword to his chest.  Without his armor in the way you can dig in a little.  "So Sir Richard, do you yield?"

The knight looks around in shock, then anger as he sees two of his companions sitting meekly under guard.  "You filthy swine.  I'll have vengeance for this."

"How can a man be so brave in foolishness and such a coward in a fight," mutters Mystia.  "We have your life now as well."

"You wouldn't dare," the knight sneers.  "I know your type 'Sir' Cirno.  You would never kill a man in custody.  Which means you're going to let me go eventually.  At which point I can head back to the village and tell them all of the cheating fairy knight who ambushed me and my men."

You are stunned by the mans arrogance.  "You seek to threaten me?  Here and now?"

"I do!  Give me back what is mine and I shall forget your name."

You laugh at the mans sorry bargaining, and the rest of your group joins in.  "You are a jest in poor taste.  I think we need to make you more entertaining."

Now how to punish this fool?  And what to do with the cowering men behind you?
