Just throwing this out there, but I have no problem killing off Richard if you guys choose that route.

Also, I say we let the other two go.  They don't really seem like the types to hold a grudge, though I guess you never know.

Apparently, Thomas the Tank Engine isn't one to take crap from anyone.

My apologies.  Mystia's looting also got you assorted coins equaling a little over 4 gold.  You total cash is now at 103gp, 1 silver, 4 copper.  You also have one fresh human corpse.  Though it won't stay fresh for long.

I'm somewhat with Kasu. I'm not opposed to Richard's death.

 Of Richard...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWutufIWx_4

I'm not quite sure what the technical term for that is, but tie Riachard up to a horse like that and ride like the wind.

Of the other men, I'm fine with letting them go, but only after we ask them about the local rumors and news.

Kill him? But then how could he hear people laughing at him?

Shave him. Shave it all off. Then if we have something to do it with, write "Caitiff" on his head.

Then, if we are in good enough standing with human town to actually visit there, escort him there and encourage people to laugh at him. Or let his minions do it while singing our praises. Maybe even let them have some of their stuff back in exchange.

Sadly you personally doing it is certain to cause a fight.  The guards will take the word of a human over yours, even if they secretly think you're telling the truth and laugh about the bastard for the rest of his life.

As a note, it is nightfall and thus most of the humans out and about will be guards and people finishing up their chores.

Alright, this is the plan. We win over the lackies with our mercies and awesome nature, let them know that if Knightgar here tries something, we'll kick his ass doubletime, and let them take him back to town and spread word of our glorious asskicking.

If we have time, we can tie up Richard and leave him juuuuuust outside the forest. Then we retreat to a hidden location and watch. That should put the fear of God back in him, and should anything untoward happen we can swoop in.

For added effect, cover him with Wriggle's honey and shave the words "EAT ME" on his scalp.

Dunno, seems a bit heavy-handed.

Honestly, I'm ready to feed him to Rumia. Start by having her eat the dead human much less discretely, then have her chew off the knight's limbs one by one until he understands the nature of the situation and agrees to work with us instead of against us. I just want him to tell us if he's seen the Wandering Jew and where (and maybe ransom him for quick cash, if possible), and with him promising to be a liability mere humiliation and fear seems to lenient, if anything, since the only reason I voted to take him alive at all was for information. Besides, we can scare the crap out of him just fine with Wriggle and Mystia.

It doesn't matter to me if we humiliate him or not as long as we get some info out of him or his lackeys, so I propose we grill the lackeys (sorry Rumia, not literally, one human is enough) like Purvis said and threaten the knight with Rumia. I also like Purvis's idea of giving back some of the stuff we just looted to have the lackeys sing our praise in town.

Calling it for interrogate, threaten and non lethal humiliate, unless there's a rush for limb eating in the next 10 minutes.

After a few seconds of deliberation you come to a decision.  "Wriggle, give this man a shave more befitting his stature."

"A Fleet Street shave?" asks Rumia happily.

"I have no knowledge of what that is, so I shall assume no.  Just the hair for now Wriggle."  Rumia sighs at your refusal.

Wriggle nods happily.  "Aye.  It can be done."

"You wouldn't dare!" yells the knight in disbelief.

"I tire of your words."  You pull off one of his socks and stuff it in his mouth.  As Wriggle gets to work you turn towards the other men.  "Now I shall speak to you.  I trust you remain more reasonable then that person there?"  They both nod frantically.  "Well then, perhaps we can discuss like honorable folk what you know of the area?"

The man Daiyousei knocked out swallows hard.  "Forgive us good sir knight, but we know nothing of this area.  This was our first day patrolling here.  We've heard the rumors of the one who must live 'til our lord returns, but your band was the first we met.  Before now we were guarding the pagan shrine to the east?"

"Pagan shrine?  Do you speak of the Hakurei Shrine?" Daiyousei asks.

'I know not its name good lady.  In fact we only patrol the base of the hill it sits on.  We were ordered not to go closer, and we had no desire to do so either.  The place is bad enough.  There's a cave nearby that spits up monsters from the bowls of the earth.  To deal with what brought those beasts up is not for men such as we."

Mystia speaks up.  "So the Hakurei lands stand free?  That is a fine thing my friends.  But perhaps there is plans for battle there?"

The wounded man shakes his head.  "Nay ma'am.  We were told only to guard, and nothing else.  We saw no signs of a campaign, and little reason for it either."

"Hm...  Fine information though, if not what we expected."  You nod.  "Well my honorable friends.  It is getting dark and the less friendly youkai are afoot.  I think it would be good if you returned home to your families, lest they worry."  You pick up two of the captured swords and toss them before the men.  "You should take these as well.  We wouldn't want you to suffer any misfortune on the way back."

The two men brighten up considerably at your words.  "Thank you fine knight and lady.  We will remember your generosity and mercy."  They quickly move to retake their weapons, though they keep their hands well away from the hilts.

"Then be off with you.  The sun is almost gone."  The two men do ragged bows, then bolt for the safety of the village.  You have a feeling they'll be drinking off that story for a while.

You turn back to the knight who is much more ragged.  Wriggle's razor work is questionable, which makes the whole affair even more amusing.  You consider questioning the knight more, but his expression tells you that would be a waste of time.  So instead you carefully conjure up shackles of ice around his arms and legs.  "Well caitiff, it's time for a bit of a game.  You know how we fairies love games."  You tap the ice binds.  "These will melt to the point you can break them in an hour, perhaps two.  We shall leave you here, next to the deadly forest and horrid creatures within.  If you are strong, and lucky, you shall break free and escape to the village before the creatures of the night consume your bones."

"Do the creatures of the night include me?" Rumia asks sweetly.

"You seem right eager to eat the craven bairn.  The taste of filth would linger on your tongue for sure with this one," Wriggle replies.

"Not for today Wriggle.  We must be off."  You turn and gather your goods and the corpse before hopping on your mounts.  "We shall meet again 'Sir' Richard I'm sure.  In one form or another."

You lead the group over a low hill. then quickly dismount and move to peer over at the man as he struggles to break free.  "Friend, why are we waiting on this coward?" Mystia asks.  "Our sages move forward do they not?"

"This shall be worth the time," you reply with a chuckle.  "Remember we are not the only fae in these lands.  Besides you have a meal to tend to do you not?"

"A fine meal indeed!"  Rumia digs in to the corpse while Mystia and Wriggle pick out small bites for themselves.  Daiyousei and you refrain from the repast, not favoring that kind of meal.

Despite the mans size your friends are finished before the fun truly begins.  They take up positions next to you, but you can tell they are unimpressed with the plan so far.  You yourself are starting to wonder if you chose correctly, when a low growl rings out over the clearing.  The man freezes and Wriggle, Rumia, and Mystia all tense, but Daiyousei covers her mouth to hide her laugh.  You nod in reply.  "I think the goblins are going to have some fun."

You're actually impressed at how skilled the goblins are at tormenting the man.  The growls and howls creep up on the man perfectly, matching his successes one for one.  Richards struggles become more and more frantic as the noises close.  Every crack of the ice is matched by the goblins getting closer.

Finally the man breaks free of the ice with a cry of strained triumph.  He quickly rises to his feet, then stumbles as his chilled limbs betray him.  He begins a stumbling crawling run towards the village just as the goblins shake the bushes at the edge of the Bamboo Forest and let out a mighty howl.  His composure breaks completely and he flees screaming.  You and your companions get a hearty laugh from that.

"I still think we should have eaten him, but that was fun," Rumia states.  "So where to now?"

It is one hour after sunset.  There are four hours until midnight.

Yes at some point.  Also Rumia, Mystia and Wriggle prefer the night.  You and Daiyousei prefer the day.  You usually camp at 3AM.

No.  You'll need to get up and go places.

In addition you will encounter different things at night.

So, I'm thinking there's some worth in visiting the Shrine, at least to ascertain what it is.

After thinking it over for a moment you reach a decision.  "It seems strange that the shrine would exit unchanged.  Let us investigate this mystery, friends."

"We shall follow with glad heart," replies Mystia.

You skirt the village as you make your way to the Eastern side of Gensoukyo, then begin the trip up the winding road.  About halfway there Wriggle summons up a light and points to a side trail.  "Be betting this route will get us there faster.  The main route's sure to be guarded."

"A good plan Wriggle.  Lead the way."

You continue down the side trail towards the shrine for a few more minutes before reaching one of the neighboring hills.  You quickly confirm Wriggle's plan was sound, as there are many camps at the foot of the shrine's hill.  Sneaking by them would have been quite difficult.

As you sit there on your steeds you begin to notice another strange phenomenon.  The calls of the crickets seem to be muted at one point.  One moving point.  A memory stirs in your mind as you track the anomaly.  Finally you remember what must be happening and smile.  You draw your sword and point it at them, for you're sure they can't hear you.  "Come out you three."

There's a blurring, and then three very familiar figures appear.  "Drat!  How'd you know we were there Cirno?" asks Sunny Milk.

"And why are you wearing funny outfits," asked Star Sapphire.

"And how did you all get so tall?" added Luna Child.

"By Suwako's tongue," Mystia exclaimed, "you're still the same!"

The three look Mystia over and blink.  "You guys talk funny now too."

"You three haven't noticed any changes?" Rumia asks incredulously.  "It's been three years."

"Hey, we can't get out much!" Sunny protests.  "If we go to far from the shrine our heads start getting fuzzy."

"The power of Oberon reaches far to grasp our kind," Daiyousei says with a nod.  "Though I don't know how this area protects you."

"Anyways it's boring trying to trick Reimu all the time so we play pranks on the soldiers," Star says brightly.

Wriggle sits up taller.  "What?  Reimu's still set up kip here as well?"

"It's her shrine," Luna says.  "Why shouldn't she be here?  Though I bet she's either sleeping or doing some boring ritual."

You smile at the simple words and answers of your kin.  You miss the innocence, even if your new mind is far better at strategy then your old thoughts.  Well you have found some friends, even if they can do little for a war.  What might they know to aid you?  And how can you ask it so they will understand?

"How fares the shrine maiden then?"

The three look back and forth.  Finally Sunny speaks up.  "Well she's kinda mopey and not fun a lot of the time.  And she doen't kill us nearly as hard when she catches us.  But I think she's alright physically."

"She's got much better food then normal," Star says thoughtfully.

You frown.  "Eating better?  How?  There is no farmland here."

"I dunno.  She just has better food.  A lot more meat, and that bread stuff," Luna replies.  "What we steal tastes good."

"Be there visitors out here?" Wriggle asks.

"There's the fox and the cat," Star replies.  Though only occasionally.

Sunny hops up.  "Oh and the zombie lady is around sometimes too.  But not often.  She's fun!"

Quote
Ask about the nearby cave.
"What of this passage deep into the earth?" Mystia asks.  "Is there trouble from it?"

The three all shake their heads.  "The passage to the underground?  Why would anyone want to go there?  Sometimes weird things come out, but they always go somewhere else."
