Genericon 2012
« on: March 03, 2012, 05:18:22 PM »
Reporting live from RPI im Troy, NY. Eating lunch presently. Only one Touhou fan so far, and he ran into Reddyne, Gandalph and Murein while I was busy watching Revolutionary Girl Utena. I can only imagine she brings about a revolution of people with arms that are thicker then a half-inch.

Bought a piece of UMINEKO MERCH OMG (anyone that knows me knows who it is) as well as all three volumes of J. Michael Straczynski's 'Rising Stars'. Looks pretty neat and I'm a fan of JMS writing.

No sign of E-Mouse yet.

EDIT: E-Mouse sighting three hours ago. Multiple people with staff forum acess had requested favors carried out, at least one of which is a picture that I expect will find its way onto some part of the internets.

I think I've actually taken a grand total of one. :C There haven't been many cosplays I wanted pictures of, and most of those I only ran into where requesting a picture was not feasible because I absolutely refuse to be the douchebag that takes a photo across a crowded and busy hallway.

For the record, Utena was decent, though only Utena herself and the student council prez really appealed to me as characters. I also watched Eden of the East, which I must admit I liked a good deal more. I wouldn't mind watching Utena to completion, but I probably won't actively seek it out.

Weelp, Gand and I have returned in one piece; we'll have to see how the others fare in the wee hours of the New England morning.  Genericon was a lot of fun!  I hope to have videos uploaded soon, although with the current upload speed ratings here not exactly being lightning quick, this might take a while.

Eden of the East was definitely an interesting concept, I've gotta say.  No idea where they're going to go with it, and unfortunately we only got to watch five or six videos.

Let's see, what else... well, I know we got our pictures taken, so there might be a few pictures of us floating around the internet somewhere (including a few particularly amusing photos of Gand and I).

Oh!  Perhaps the most intriguing part of all happened right at the end as we were about to leave.  Circumstances happened to have me get pulled into a nico nico livestream.  The only problem is... well, there's a reason I run the camera for things con and touhou related; I'm pretty freaking tongue tied when I get into a public setting like that.  Thankfully I was able to drag Red into this thing as well and he took the heat off me (and got to display his LoGH outfit, which I'm sure earned him some brownie points in japan).  But yeah, that was absolutely bananas.

Anyway, gonna upload videos, we'll see how long these take.

Will you be coming down to Springfest NY by any chance?

I have to agree that there weren't too many worthy photo opportunities. Between the limited time frame we had available, our choice in activities, and limited amount of cosplay, there just weren't enough photos to take.
I also watched Eden of the East, which I must admit I liked a good deal more.
It's really enjoyable, but a recent inspection shows that the series has only ELEVEN episodes. I saw it through to completion but forgot the ending and now I know why: It tries to shore up all the craziness we saw in the first 6 episodes and it can only do so well. I never watched the movie though.
Thankfully I was able to drag Red into this thing as well and he took the heat off me (and got to display his LoGH outfit, which I'm sure earned him some brownie points in japan).  But yeah, that was absolutely bananas.
When I first glanced over, I thought you were being social and talking tech stuff with that guy. It slowly dawned on me that it wasn't any of the things I thought it might be and it was only until the end that everything fully connected. It didn't help that it was in the main hallway, meaning that it was far too loud for me to take in all the stuff he was saying.

I know. I'm going mainly because it's hosted by our Anime Club and it's in my university. If anyone else is coming, feel free to say hi!
