On my first default-lives run of PCB normal, during the random spam in the sixth stage before midboss Youmu, I decided to suicide to auto-collect point items for the next life.... Either way during the spam I unfocused, moved in a triangle shape to get myself hit, and.... survived by pure luck. I then focused and dodged the rest and still got an extra life out of all that :V

In case you didn't know, many enemies/bosses in the series (from LLS to MoF) drop more point items if you're at full power... so I'm not sure an intentional suicide would help much.

It should be noted that you can suicide for a border and still get all 136 items if your suicide is timed correctly. You will see this strategy in some high-scoring runs.

1) Here I went through two Mokou's walls on ?Fujiyama Volcano?.
2) Here I went through white wall emitted by ethreal sphere at the end of the stage, and went through a spinning flow of bullets created by third (left) upper fairy.
