>Outside of Ichirin, has anyone ever said that of us?

>In those specific terms? You can't say it comes up much, though you mostly seem to get along well enough with the people around you. Well... you suppose Orange has expressed a similar sentiment from time to time; you'd suspect she were doing it to rib you, if you thought she had the wit for it.

>You quickly bite into the rest of your onigiri before you leave yourself a chance to stumble over the rest of that sentence, then try not to blush in its stead.
>Perhaps when you selflessly tried to extend caring towards people who had done grievous harm to you? Or perhaps you've been that way for longer than you'd like to admit....
>"Sounds like a good policy to me," Miyuki says.

>You grin widely and make a face-saving remark about the selfish end of making things work out for people.
>Miyuki nods. "Of course." There is just a hint of a smile on her face that makes you wonder if you're being entirely transparent, or if she's just readily cheerful. ...probably both.

>Damage control achieved (hopefully), finish breakfast.

>Figuring you've said enough (or perhaps too much), you apply yourself to the rest of your breakfast in earnest. All in all, while the soup may be a bit of a different start to your day than the usual fare, you're definitely going to go away feeling full. And right now, simply being able to sit and eat a meal in peace is something in itself.
>After a little while, Miyuki excuses herself to go take her shift on deck watch, leaving you alone in the galley. Though she hasn't gotten very far down the hallway before you hear her greet someone with a cheerful "Good morning!" She is answered by an incoherent mumble of syllables, only tangentially resembling a sentence.

>Did we recognize the voice?
>Don't be grinning when she comes in.

>You would think that could go for most of the ship after last night, though Miyuki seemed in fine shape.
>It would be hard to recognize much from that grumbling, to be honest. They're probably female, at least. Hopefully humanoid....
>You can have a very good poker face when you apply yourself, so it is with a deliberately neutral expression that you observe a diminutive blue-haired figure stumble into the galley. It appears, with only slight exaggeration, than an explosion has detonated in her hair. Or that someone attempted to style it in the likeness of a pineapple and then hit it several times with a mallet. The goggles she is wearing on her head are askew, doing nothing to amend the walking portrait of dishevelment. She mutters something unintelligible, then shambles off in the direction of the cookware.

>You... think it's the same kappa you saw at the Melon Bowl a few days back, which would make her Ishi. For better or worse, it appears she at least remembered to put clothes on. ...or perhaps she just slept in them.

>Allow ourselves a quiet chuckle.
>Have we finished our own breakfast? If so, police our dishes.

>You chuckle quietly and finish up the last of your breakfast while Ishi putters about in the pantry and then shambles back into the kitchen with half a pineapple and some ham in hand.
>As you stand up to gather your empty dishes, you hear a sharp yelp issue from near the stove, followed by a sizzling sound.

>Leave the dishes and dash to the kitchen.

>You leave the dishes where they are and dash to the kitchen instead. Ishi's stature makes it hard to see more than the top of her head until you round the corner, but as you do, you find her cradling her arm and looking considerably more awake, if not any less disheveled. She glares at the stove and launches a swift kick at its base. The wince immediately following this maneuver suggests she is now enduring two injuries. Her block of ham, still unsliced, is resting partially on the corner of one of the burners and sizzling merrily where it touches.

Gonna be out of town tomorrow, got a wedding to attend. But, while you folks have Ishi here, after she pulls herself together, ask her about that odd part we got from the warehouse fairys way back when. She might be able to tell us what it is.

>"You alright?"

>You turn off the dial you think corresponds to the sizzling burner, though this produces no immediate change in the ham's condition.
>Ishi continues her staring match with the stove, muttering through gritted teeth. "Razzin'... frazzin'... gah!" She elbows the appliance weekly, still cradling her arm. "Stupid thing's trying to kill me...."

Still out of commission here, and I don't remember this part anyway, so I'm fair useless, sorry.

Happened waaaay back in thread one. I'd been re-reading the archives, just to see how many things had slipped my mind, since the beginning, and that was one of the bigger things.

> Recall known information about a 'part' acquired some time ago from warehouse fairies.

>It was a small cylindrical mechanical component of some sort which you found in a pile in the fairies' warehouse. It is quite rusted and otherwise nondescript, but something about it was pinging your treasure sense, so you decided to pocket it and see if you could find out what it is. It has sat in your pack ever since.

>Smirk and nod. "Yeah, can't trust these stoves nowadays..."

>"Second time this week..." she grumbles.

Speaking of things I'd found in the archives, I also found something else we need to check out in Val R. Our pendant. It was described as, as near as we can tell, once having some sort of enchantment on it, that's either worn off or run out of power. Should find a mage to tell us about that.

>She flashes you a grin. "Gonna have to try harder than that to keep me from breakfast." Then she glares at the stove again and mutters "Better not try harder than that.... Remember who's the one with the wrench here."

>As she continues to stare down the appliance, an almost sinister grin spreads across her face. "Ooo... I think I can do better than that...."
>"But before that," she declares, the unsettling smirk vanishing from her face as quickly as it arrived, "breakfast!"
>She rolls out a drawer and withdraws a serrated carving knife, then starts sawing vigorously at the ham. The look of intense concentration on her face contrasted with her formidable bed-head paints a rather bizarre scene. You almost expect her to start absently sticking out her tongue at any moment.

>Matter of fact, she seems to be okay. Mostly.
>Go take care of our dishes now.

>You take a cautionary step back from the suddenly-energetic kappa, then decide that this means she's probably a sort of okay, anyway.
>You go back to the table and gather up your dishes, then bring them over to the wash-basin. While you start to clean them, Ishi finishing butchering the ham into submission and tosses the resulting slices into a frying pan. Fortunately, the stove does not make another attempt on her health; perhaps it is dissuaded by the presence of witnesses? Once the ham is merrily sizzling, she slices off a hunk of pineapple and tosses it into her mouth.
>"So, how're you findin' the place, anyway?" she asks between bites.
