If you're so narrow minded as to only compare it to that, I'm kinda miffed. 'Holy Grail' is a metaphor for anything that's unachievable. Kanmaru was a human who sought 'perfection', which is unachievable. People automatically attributing the Holy Grail to one visual novel kinda make people who actually know anything about Arthurian legends sad, you know. And people automatically going 'oh fate stay night ripoff' when I mention one thing that's related to it kinda make people sad too.
Why does it matter anyway? The guy is dead and gone. He's not going to do anything.

and yes, obviously the ability to form ideals into reality is a fate stay night ripoff. Obviously the only application is making weapons like Shirou does, and obviously I totally copied the idea from there. His ability is influenced by that, sure. It's hard not to let things influence you. But I'm honestly offended if you think I'm just lifting it all from there.

Apologies for trying to help you out by getting a plot point that wouldn't mesh well with the rest of the story out of the way, by the way. Guess trying to help the GM with story flow is a bad thing. I'll just leave it for later so I can totally jack the plot with 'ohmygawd backstory guyz, I have to solve this' later on, alright?

Edit: Admittedly, it does seem like that. Yes, I like Fate/Stay Night. Yes, the examples I gave were very similar to Fate/Stay Night. Is it a problem that I gave you examples that would be easy to picture? Or do you want me to go into a complex description of how Tetsumaru's unawoken powers have begun and will subtly alter his body composition to something not-human yet not-youkai, ostensibly because his 'ideal' of 'himself' isn't restricted by such descriptions because he lives in Gensokyo? Or is that 'denied' because the character is now 'broken'? Or worse off, 'unoriginal'? I'm doing my damn best to make my character fit more easily into this RP, Sonae, but if you're just going to shoot me down when I go out of my way and kill off a character I wanted to use later just to help you out with story flow, then...I don't know what to say. I like Tetsumaru, as a character I put thought and time into creating, and I wanted to have fun with him. Right now, I'm not. Because you still haven't figured out what to do with him, and when I try to make it easier for you to do so by getting rid of the main obstacle, you shoot it down. It's a tad frustrating.

There was a hint in that dialogue, but it wasn't meant for Tetsumaru. The emphasis there was for us, rather than for the characters. Tetsumaru doesn't have anything

There's also a difference between the voice of the guy who writes the descriptions, who ostensibly knows everything, and the actual character. It's not as though he would in character describe it as a 'holy grail', it was just a metaphor I was using as a description. Like I said, 'holy grail' as in 'unachievable thing', not an actual tangible item.

There isn't going to be any memory recovery because there's no memories to recover. Kanmaru is a seperate person. Tetsu's life truly started at the 'age' of five. That's what I was trying to get at. Along with that, Tetsumaru wouldn't get any sort of hint that he has a power from that dialogue, would he? I understand I'm not allowed to let him use it until whenever.

Might I ask what you think I've ripped off? I honestly don't see it, beyond Tetsumaru's ability's vague resemblance to tracing and that one off mention of a Holy Grail which isn't the actual Holy Grail in any way.. You're looking into it more than I am.

The main purpose of the post was to just get his backstory, and all the possible, 'split personality', 'lost memories', and other possible stuff out of the way so that you, as a GM, would have an easier time working with the character. I understand that it's hard to plan stuff for a character if they have stuff waiting in the background like that. Apparently I didn't achieve that. ==

Edit: I don't know what you expect me to say when you point out one thing in total out of nowhere and then call it a ripoff. If there's a bunch of things, tell me about it at least.

I cannot be on MSN all the time and I only use Windows Messenger, which complicates things.

I'm not going to DL MSN Live Messenger just to be able to talk to one or two people when I already have good contact with everyone on either IRC or Skype. Furthermore not everyone has the time to sit down and write a lengthy PM to clarify things with you.

I'd suggest that as a GM you are more flexible with how people can contact you. It's unfair on us as the players to be so imposing and yet not even open to more than two forms of contact.

To be honest, it looks like you are the one who is grumpy and frustrated. :V I honestly have no problems at the moment except for Kat constantly harassing me to post, but misinterpreting what some other players are proposing and then proceeding to yell at them for it is something that's pretty worrying. I'm just concerned that the GM/player relationship is pretty shaky.

I'm patiently waiting for updates but since all I've been seeing are updates to other character's parts, it's no surprise I got impatient and posted what I did with Kat.

I do, all the time, though I also use it for voice chat.

In fact, Skype is the only IM client I use on a regular basis.

It's pretty much a voice/text chat client that can call to other skype users or call to phones, and receive from the same. Quite useful. Popular IM as well.
