The ol' dine-n-dash. See it mentioned all the time in the Disgaea series.
(Which, amusingly, isn't that different from Touhou in terms of really-old-but-young-looking demons/monsters throwing reality-breaking power at each other for shits and giggles..)

Yknow what, Hanzo, that crossover could make a pretty sweet fanfic there, in the right hands. Assuming it hasn't been done before, of course.

I've actually toyed with the idea of Gensokyo being another Netherworld, with Reimu and Yukari trading posts as the resident Overlords.
The events involving the Watatsukis was a case of them stealing the title of Overlord, but eventually getting bored of it and heading back to their netherworld(the moon), and putting the title back with the rightful owners.

On an unrelated note. FREAKIN' VISTA GETTING IN THE WAY OF ME DOING THINGS.

In the event that one of Kohaku's ex's show up at the shrine, during the party or after, I suppose it would help to have her profile. So, here:

Name: Haine
Age: 117
Gender: Female
Ability: Practicioner of Earth magic. Capable of petrifying a body, or body parts, upon physical contact, but this never lasts for longer than an hour, unless the subject is willing. Objects subjected to Haine's petrification cannot be shattered, and may or may not retain tactile sensation and/or awareness while stoned.
Occupation: Tourist from Makai.

Appearance: Long brown hair, braided. White robe cut off at the knees, with a brown shawl worn over, with a black sash. Wears glasses when reading. Wears bracelets and anklets made of shaped rock, usually granite. Brown eyes.

Personality: Consumate traveler, never stays in one place for more than a few weeks, couple months at most. Always looking for what's on the other side of the next mountain. Boistrous and friendly, loves a good joke and a good drink almost as much as she loves a good flirt. And she very much loves a good flirt. Enjoys music, preferably ballads.

Background: A denizen of Makai, and child of Shinki thereby, she was one of the demons that visited Gensokyo the first time the gates to Makai were open, and was rather quickly, and thoughly, trounced by Reimu, and slunk back to Makai. She liked what she saw of Gensokyo, though, and returned some years ago, rather relieved to not find a belligerant miko ready to pummel again. Has been gadding about gensokyo for some years as she pleases, but found something a little different when she met Kohaku and Koryu Daidouji.
The two of them were cut from a different bolt than anyone the demon had ever met, Koryu so young and full of promise, yet angry, frustrated by what he was and what he wanted to become. Haine would have liked seeing him grow, helping him grow. And Kohaku was... Someone she could have lived with. Forever. But Haine knew that their mother didn't like her. Didn't like youkai in general, and would have reacted even more badly had she found out that Haine was a shade 'worse' than your average youkai. Haine chose not to put the Daidouji heirs though that, and left instead. It was the only time in her life that leaving a place was painful for her, and she's never been able to forget about those two. It's been two years since she left, and she's actually tried not to stray ALL that far from the village, knowing that, as they grew, they'd have better and better odds of leaving the village at times, so she could see them again.

Other: Never wears shoes, prefers the feel of earth under her feet.

Spellcards: TBA

So, Sanaya is currently walking into the village center. If anyone feels like noticing her then go right ahead.

I would think that Makai would qualify as the neterworld of Gensokyo. The human village, youkai mountain, all that jazz, that would be the human world equivalent, and Celestia would be... Well, Celestia. Iku would serve as archangel, Shinki would be the Overlord of the netherworld, and Reimu and Marissa would share the duties of DEFENDER OF EARTH.

And having thought about it, not only would that make a good crossover fic, that would actually make a potentially interesting Z-adventure. The only downside would be having to include the cast from Disgaea 1, and Flonne's the only good one out of the lot.

Since when was this Disgaea? ^^'

Also GYMO. If you want bunnying that bad, you know it'd end up being even worse than back an forth.
You'd need my permission to proceed with bunnying, you'd be told what to write in cases...
Oh not to mention none of you know which characters know what happened from 127-159 and which don't.
Obviously Cirno doesn't know or give two shits.

Not gonna write much today, I wanna sleep before this freezing goes away and it gets painful.
I'll try to finish the current section though.
Too bad it's my own.

I understand what you're saying about bunnying, but with none at all, conversations are odd to write; I can't even have a 'yes' or 'no' response.

I'm not really sure what 'how not' is referring to. My best guess would be the part about not being able to have Keine or whoever say even 'yes' or 'no', and to that, well, you said absolutely no bunnying, which would mean that not even that is allowed. And it also means that I can't do anything with her body language, either.

But how do you know what is and isn't true?
Also while I do mostly obey canon, there will be some things I am going to change.
Not to mention I don't want people assuming things to be right without even giving a thought about it.
And finally, The NPOC cast is relatively large. And only I know how I want them portrayed.
GYMO. This is not a story that you're writing alone. This is a cooperative story which requires both GM and players. I don't want people blazing through the days like it was nothing. That will mess up too many things. Mainly my sense of rp time, the time of the players, and how long people will need to wait for their next posts.

Anyways. I don't know if it's a control issue, short reply issue, or just impatience. If it's the last. You need to understand. I'm at the end of the semester in school. Gr.12, and I need good marks this year. So I have to work my ass off for them.
So please, if everyone could be patient, that would be most helpful.

Okay woah woah wooah.
I want EVERYONE to stop posting for now.
From a slight skim it appears there is player bunnying going on here.
That is DEFINITELY against the rules.
If another one of ANY of you posts, I'll immediately remove it.

For note I don't believe I made a decision on relationships.

Oh btw, sex will get your character killed off. ^^

Backstory things since they will not be read and described in detail are fine. But ingame? You'd be deathflagging yourself.

Also btw, I MUST BE NOTIFIED if permission is given to post for another player.
This isn't a control issue now if players are being bunnied. This is just outright invasion and hijacking. The player is the one that decides things. This is why I was weary and still am of how much I bunny players.

Now I may have misread since I only skimmed, but I've got some free time now. So you better hope you all have been good girls and boys.

EDIT;;
Quote
Actually, I didn't know this town existed.

Please explain. The human village is the only human settlement in Gensokyo. No Nanaya is not a true hermit. No she is not immortal, no she is not from the outside world.

Oh and.
Explain this while your at it

They did that in a fight scene. You try writing a fight scene without any bunnying at all. It doesn't really work.

I'm more concerned with the not mentioning anything to me part.

Also one side deciding a battle is shunned.
I'll also shun immediate defeats.
Since that should only occur when ppl need to be taught a lesson by a higher power.
Such as Yukari kicking my ass with ease.

Btw. Trance, this passed through my mind while reading and I wanted to ask it.
Is Senri's preference male female or both?

Just to chime in for I moment I feel that it is up to the player to first react if he/she doesn't like the way something was bunnied. I appreciate that you're so on the ball with these things Sonae but wouldn't it be preferable to leave things up to the players at first, possibly even privately and if there's an unresolvable problem then you step in.

I'm not trying to devalue your work here but it is a game first, where the player's desires should govern events and the players should be the ones to be the first line of conflict resolution.

I think you're approaching this with the wrong attitude, Sonae. I understand the desire to keep things going in the direction you want, but as I found out quickly back when I ran a few RPs, a strict, controlling approach just doesn't work. Limiting the options of players is a major turn-off, and I'll be blunt: if you keep trying to control this RP as completely as you are, it's almnot really all that likely to last very long. The plot's up to you, of course, but let us have more control over how things actually play out (although the no-explicit-sex thing is perfectly fine). I think you'll find that your plans will survive (at most, they may need very minor adjustments, although in my experience, even that's fairly rare. And if someone does do something that just doesn't work at all, well, they can edit it).

Now, I understand what you're saying about us not knowing plot-related things, such as which canon characters would know what, or who would have been able to meet who, but, well, in my case, I've been asking you whenever such a thing comes up. Some people will make assumptions (myself included, sometimes), but if those assumptions are wrong, well, the posts in question can be edited. As for player bunnying, well, leave that up to the players. As Marokuu said, it's only your business if there's an issue that can't be resolved otherwise.

I always thought it came down to the players if they minded minor actions being done for them. I don't see a problem with it, as long as the character is kept consistant. I don't see a problem with letting people control each other if consent is given. I'm not sure why the GM needs to give permission for that.

So like. I wrote that with permission of Trance and even asked him how Senri would react and shit. Also I told him to read it right after I posted and there were no objections. Also I know about the no-sex thing because this is MotK.

You say you shun one-sided battles. But when a girl with little prior experience to swordplay and does not want to fight because of her mind being so chaotic and conflicted, she would most certainly lose a fight.

Also Nanaya had no interaction with the people outside her clan. Didn't I tell you this before on msn at like 2am

Why would you say Nanaya is immortal? Sure she wouldn't die from an arrow to the knee, but inmost cases a sword to the chest would kill her. Nanaya is not a true hermit. Uhh. Duh. The obvious is all over her. Why would she be from the outside. What is this I don't even.

You say outright invasion and hijacking. The only thing I used Senri for was to fight! Draw his blade and retaliate to the girl in front of him. It's natural to every living being. Kill or be killed. Also is backstory shit is like giving players deathflags, why the hell was there a history section in the sign-ups?

I agree with Trance. Tyranny.

If Katelin was rping instead of me she would be raging all over you. :/.
-

1.   I control the world, you control your character.

You control the world, you govern it's laws, you rule over with an iron fist. That is to be expected of a GM. But even with an immobile world, there is still freedom of speach. In this case, minor bunnying. Nothing would move without it.
