Yeah... none of these are indie games, are they?

I'm torn. On one hand, charities are good and I've bought almost every bundle so far. On the other, military-type games bore the hell out of me and they'd just take up a ton of space...

Am I the only one who finds it A Really Good Thing that a major publisher is wanting in on this?
Sure, they're obviously not going to jump in the DRM-free yay wagon straightaway, they are a traditional publisher still, but this is to me a very heavy sign of improvement in perspective.

While Ubisoft is trying to force me to install uPlay through Steam to play an old title which I bought through Steam, THQ seems to be opening up. And the Humble Bundle is a nice way to go about it really, fuck the haters. It's not like this crushes any possibility of indie games thriving, much on the contrary, this is a victory for the indie insdustry lol

That said, not sure am gonna get, will think

Regardless of whether or not this is a "real" humble bundle, it remains a fantastic bargain.

If you don't want the games, then don't buy the bundle! I'm sure plenty of people will. :P

I kind of notice that this isn't actually called an "indie" bundle, it's a "THQ" bundle.

Anyways, nothing from THQ really looks all that appealing to me regardless (also my computer wouldn't be able to run it ever anyway) so I'm really not all that bothered by it.

It's AAA titles sold for pretty much free if you want it (the 1 dollar minimum was already a thing for the last bunch of bundles to get Steam codes, and since this requires Steam codes, the reasoning behind the price is a given), and with a large chunk of cash going to charity. Looks more like THQ trying to milk what they can out of their games to move on to better things, but I doubt they're going to pull much money out of it.

As Edible said, it's 200 dollars worth of games for essentially whatever price you want. Fantastic bargain.
Kilga is this right; like is this person seriously the player, and it's not some alias or something that's designed to be deliberately obfuscating? NekoNekoRex. Who the hell is that :C   ~Poya Aaaa (Serela), Bunny Must Die Mafia

I'm most likely going to get the bundle myself. It's a fantastic offer regardless, despite the giant grey area of business and indie ethics this presents.

A lot better than EA's Indie Bundles on Steam from a while back. :V
EDIT: And bought.

EDIT2: John Graham, a Humble Indie Bundle co-founder, responds to Ars Technica in defence of this bundle:
Quote
In a response to Ars, Humble Bundle co-founder John Graham assured users the company will "never stop creating Humble Indie Bundles... and the other bundle types we've successfully launched this year. But we’re also eager to see if our pay-what-you-want plus charity model meshes with critically acclaimed AAA content as well."

Graham said the new THQ bundle did not represent a permanent departure from the company's indie roots, and that the company may even release a third indie bundle this year. "This year has also been a year of many experiments for us that fall outside the traditional Humble Indie Bundle framework," Graham told us. "We’re very excited to be able to offer the gaming community a massive sale with blockbuster content and raise money for charity at the same time. We will of course continue to support indies content as a core of our business."

Regarding the lack of Mac and Linux ports this time around, Graham said plainly that, "in the case of this promotion, it would not have been possible for us to deliver this blockbuster content via other means." But Graham also promised the Humble Bundle "will not cease in our quest to bring awesome content to Mac and Linux and Android," and pointed out that the Humble eBook Bundle contained the first digital publication of Neil Gaiman's graphic novel Signal to Noise.

So how about your wallets?

Here's Total War 2 - Fall of the Samurai, non-Steam, but it's a pretty big discount.

There's also 2K games megapack, featuring Civ5 GOTY, Borderlands, Bioshock and Mafia 2 for a steal, too.

Also Civ5 + Gods and Kings.

There's a lot of other deals too but I personally think these are pretty nice. Not that un-American pigdogs like me can take advantage of them lol.

Another THQ pack so soon? :teaspit:

Well, if this is what it takes for them to stay afloat, I suppose....

STALKER and maybe Space Marine look pretty tantalizing.

Space Marine is okay, Shadows of Cherynobyl is very good (and turns GREAT when you use the SOC Complete Mod), SoC + Metro 2033 = delicious post-apocalyptic creepy goodness.

Having gotten and played Metro during the Humble THQ Bundle, I've gotten a renewed interest in the STALKER games. Plus the original novel STALKER is based off was a very enjoyable read.

...yep, I think I'm sold on this now. :V

Hey, Metro wasn't THAT bad. :(

It had atmosphere at least. Coding could have used a month more of debugging, though...

Indeed, Metro has a few rough edges. But for what it's worth it's still fairly good - especially with ultra/max graphics settings, the Ranger difficulties, and Russian audio. :V

That aside, bought this bundle and the Serious Sam one too; would be playing SOC now, but I guess I'll get to it after this current trip.

Also, dear Gaben: Please get servers that do not immediately clog with traffic the moment a sale starts. Thank you.

It'd be a waste of money, given that they'd only be useful... what, four times a year?

Anyway, I was thiiiiis close to buying PoP Complete, and then I remembered that I had to download a crack for my entirely-legitimate copy of Assassin's Creed 3.

Also, it's rather impossible to get servers that handle user peaks like this smoothly, mot of the time they'd go to wa- fuck you lumbers.
