Well that's unfortunate. Yukari has got to be one of the least moe characters in Touhou, and she triumphs over a ditzy maid who is also a nuclear robot, and a little jealous girl with golden curly hair. I am now officially irked. While I'll admit that canon Yukari is more moe than the feindish fanon Yukari, I also know without a doubt that most of the people who voted Yukari voted for fanon Yukari.
Hopefully Suika wins this round.

Well to be fair, fanon DOES play a major role in a moe contest, whether or not we like it. I for one would be sad if Remilia didn't have an "Uu~!" side to garner her so many votes.

But my point was that fanon Yukari is anti-moe. Fans make her into a self-absorbed mastermind who messes up everyone else and totally abuses her limitless power. On top of that they make her boobs way too big.

It's funny because canon Yukari is usually funny, and fanon Yukari is usually serious and epic.

There's just that one segment of fanon where moe Yukari is usually Child Yukari that is depicted in a few webcomics. Other than that, for the most part, she isn't generally depicted as moe which now confuses me more on what the western community even thinks anymore.

Well some people were like "i don't want Marisa to win and Momizi's really close so i'll just vote for Momizi instead". This is why most polls results are usually hidden until the person has made his/her vote.

I've been tracking the voting behaviour of people during this seimoe contest. All I can say is: people primarily vote for "moe" factors, which is for everybody subjective. When they are in doubt, they revert to popularity/fanboy or girl voting.

Example given: Patchouli won over Kyoko. Here even if both can be considered "Moe" in various ways, Patchouli will always hold the upper hand because "favouritism" and other factors (her being around longer etc).

Same could be said about match 11 where Daiyousei lost over Keine. Even Reisen failed it. Makes me wonder how a history teacher can be "moe" when even PMiSS states her lectures can be boring. It must be that "teacher-moe" thing or her chibi fanart.

Match 17, Yuyuko vs Yuuka classic. Ironic to see Yuuka winning in match 13 but not vs Yuyuko. Yuyuko, a silly also serious girl but don't see the moe part in her as a person who invokes death at her will.

TL DR, my conclusions:
- A lot of girls have the upper hand for being around longer. Favouritism is quickly used.
- Common fanon seems to rule more than personal opinions.
- Peer pressure seems to be in effect as well.

As I said to Suzuran, it is not his fault for the Seimoe contest going like this. He is just the host. But personally I would judge this contest as a fail, however still nice.

moe has different meaning for each person... ^^

anyways, why does anyone dont give votes for the dolls...
they're moe enough to even make almost all of the touhou chars that i know go cutesy and stuff...

Anyway, I agree there's bound to be an inherent problem (discounting people voting for other reasons because you can't change that) because after all, I still haven't seen a definition of moe that people can agree on. But it's all in good fun.
