FPS lag for TH08
« on: August 29, 2011, 04:54:38 AM »
Like the title says, I get FPS lags on bosses for TH08 (Imperishable Night).

Before the bosses, my FPS is 59~60 constantly however, when it comes to bosses where they shoot millions, my FPS drops to 40~50.
I haven't experienced  this lag for any other games such as TH10, TH12 etc, however, only TH08 I get this kind of lag.

I've tried all the solutions that are posted here (E.g enabling V-synch) but it didn't solve it. My computer specs are fairly high with GTX 460, 8GB of RAM, Window 7 64bit, HD monitor (1920x1080@60Hz) etc...  So I don't know whats causing the problem really...

Though, the lag doesn't hinder my gameplay a lot however, its normal to play it it 60FPS right?? so with other games running in 60FPS, I don't seem to get how only imperishable night experiences FPS lag.

If there is any solution, please reply. Thanks.

EDIT: Completely off-topic but, how do you set profile pics/avatars?? I don't see any options in the settings so yeah...

Strange that it drops frames with these specs, I must assume that your CPU isn't that bad if you're using a GTX460 and 8GB of ram I guess.

Im using a Phenom II x6, HD5750 and I dont have any drop in my fps, I play with Vsync on at 75fps (Remember that Touhou games are played at native 640 x 480 so your desktop resolution will not affect the fps) just because Its more fun to me and TH8 dont drops at all.

Its even more strange that a newer engine like those of TH10+ work perfectly...well, not really because these were designed with newer technologies in mind, but it may just be a driver bug or compatibility thing, who knows. Remember that TH8 is an old game compared to TH10+ though.

Try this, change your monitor hz to more than 60 (You'll need to use a lower res I guess) and try the vsync patch, it may run faster but that way we will really see if the game is stuttering and how much.

You don't have Slow Mode on in the options menu do you?
I figured out how to play midi in games with a different device on Win7 ^^

Yeah, its strange isn't it?? anyway, I have set my refresh rate more than 60 though it doesn't solve this problem. For the V-synch, can you link the page that provides the patch?? I'm not familiar with the the patch so yeah...

Anyway tnx :D

I'm kind of lost here as I don't understand "you don't have Slow Mode on"... does it change the FPS rate if I choose to use slow mode or not??

Slow mode is an option in the options menu. It's goal is to make the game easier when there's many bullets in the game by slowing it down. So yes, it does drop fps as I recall. Though with this you don't save replays or scores. Just make sure it's set to off to keep the fps up and save stuff.
