[art] Hey look, I made a thing (now with music!?)
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:56:11 AM »
Just a little something I've been slowly hobbling together over the past couple of weeks. My coloring skills are still dodgy at best, but I'm pretty happy with how the overall design came out. :3

I'll post more new stuff eventually. God willing, it'll be sometime before the sun goes supernova.

That looks really professional. I don't know what you mean about your coloring skills, though, because everything looks fine to me.

Very nice design.

Still beats mine. Though I'd like more contrast....

The textures on her shirt and skirt don't always follow the shape and contour of the body, so it looks visually distracting in places.

Figure seems pretty static and motionless. There are several ways to fix this, but I'm not exactly sure what will work best here.

I like the design too! Good work as always, JT :) Only problem I see there is that the eyes lack shine, which makes her look less lively.

Thanks for the praise/criticism, gentlemen. Your comments are always appreciated.

This is a remix/arrangement/whatever of Ultimate Truth (Youmu's stage in PCB), done completely from scratch in FL Studio. I've never done anything like this before and have basically zero knowledge of music theory, so go easy on me.

The first few seconds are way to quiet even for a build up. But hey, nice work. My only other complaint would be the repetitive nature, but that holds no ground.

Fake E:
The transition at 3:06 also seems a bit unnatural.

Not bad considering that you are just starting with music in general, overall. Now for the rest:

Copying Bio here with the quiet build-up.

Instrumentation is too simple, making repetition an issue. Change around instruments at times in the melody and completely for the counter-harmony.
Also, more importantly the mix is too simple - it seems like a part of something, rather than something that can act stand-alone.

I find that the instruments have too much delay/sustain, and the release too short. Also I'd add a tiny bit of reverb to melody and drumkit.

I don't really have much like for the analog kit.

Abrupt transition at 3:06....

Ahh, I see! Thank you very much.

Also, "analog kit?" You mean the drums or...?

Yeah, the drumkit. It is based off the sounds of analog drum synthesizers such as the Roland TR-808.
