Question about transferring data between computers
« on: July 19, 2011, 04:32:05 PM »
I've got two computers, a desktop at home, and a laptop I sue for university. Is there a way to transfer data, such as completed stages/spells/extra unlock/etc. between computers for IN? With any other games I've tried (EoSD, PCB and PoFV) I just copied all the game files and overwrote them on the second machine, but for some reason I can't get it to work with IN. I've tried both copying al game files, and just the Score.dat file. Is there anything I'm missing?

That should be it, unless you're moving between architecture types (32-bit and 64-bit Windows), where the game will be expecting c:\Program Files\ and it's really inside c:\Program Files (x86)\, or vice-versa.

No, but it is between XP and Windows 7 (both 32-bit), so that might be the problem. Then again, I works fine for other games, just not IN. Any way to redirect where it's looking if that is the problem?

Check inside c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\<touhou folder>\<IN folder>\.  You should see the config and store.dat files in there, along with some other misc files/folders.  You can copy the config and score files there.  Replace <touhou folder> and <IN folder> with the correct folder names you have; if you installed the games the default way, they may show up as mojibake.
