For some reason, in Perfect Cherry Blossom, the option to set the background music from MIDI to WAV won't work.
Whenever I try to change the setting to WAV the game goes silent for about 10 seconds and locks up, and I have
no idea what to do. All I really want to know is if there is any files I'm Missing, or if it's anything I have to download.
As an additional detail, I have Windows 7.

Try downloading and installing this (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en) first.

I downloaded and installed DirectX, nothing changed and it turns out I already have that version.
Is there anything else like DirectX that could help? Or is there anything else I should try?
-
Are your soundcard drivers updated? Have you tried running PCB in compatibility mode?
-
Sorry to say it but, running the game in compatibility mode didn't work.
And it was a little confusing, but as far as i can tell, the sound card drivers are up to date.
Also, I'm sorry this is so much trouble.

Maybe your harddrive is acting up, or maybe the install got corrupted somehow. Check the harddrive and maybe try reinstalling the game.
-
I'll try reinstalling it but, I have a dumb question first, how do I uninstall the game? everything's in Japanese, and well, I can't read it.
-
Check to see if the .wav files are in their bgm directory, to do this right click on the PCB icon and click Properties. After you do that click find target. When the Folder opens, go to the folder named BGM, if there is nothing in there, then try to reinstall the game in a compatibility mode and as Administrator and see what happens.
And in the same directory you find the uninstaller.
-
IIRC there isn't a BGM folder, every song is stored on thbgm.dat

IIRC there isn't a BGM folder, every song is stored on thbgm.dat
That is only in newer games, older ones (Like PCB) used a BGM Folder
-
I think you mean EoSD...
Have you tried downloading a new copy of the thbgm.dat that came with it....?
-
...downloading a new copy of the thbgm.dat...

THBgms are also under the anti-piracy policy.
*sighs

Yes. =/
Anyway, just delete the game folder to uninstall, and then reinstall the game. Make sure you run in the installation in compatibility mode and as administrator.
-
I did like you said and deleted the game folder and reinstalled the game, and when I was going to set compatibility mode, I noticed that the program was already set to run in compatibility mode, and couldn't be changed to not run in that mode. I also ran as the administrator and when the game was installing, a message popped up that said: "The program cannot find the file specified" and then a file directory made up of a jumble of characters. I checked and the game had installed, but, nothing changed and the game still won't play the .wav files. Also, I ran the newly installed game in compatibility mode, and the game still plays,
but nothings changed.

Uhmm.... can you possibly get a screenshot of the error? Also, are you installing with the locale set to Japanese?
-
Here's a screenshot of the message: (http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/7339/errormessageq.th.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/errormessageq.png/)
Thanks for helping so much.
And I haven't been installing with the locale on Japanese, but I'll try it.
-
Actually that worked, which is kind of surprising considering that I did run in Japanese locale before and nothing good happened, so I don't know what was different this time.
But anyway, THANKS! I probably never would have figured that out on my own, so I wanted to thank you.

Glad you got it working! And no problem. =]
