Title: Some advice getting a fightstick working with Touhou [SOLVED]
Post by: Tony-Chops on March 28, 2011, 01:03:39 AM
*Note: My fight-stick is a SFIV TE 360 fight-stick.

Okay so I've been struggling to get my fight-stick working with XBCD+ or whatever it was. I've tried to follow a guide but the only problem is that it doesn't register as a XBCD pad, but as an arcade stick.  So when I got to check the controller, only the POV hats and buttons work. And when I try to play, only the buttons work.

If you are wondering if I had enabled test mode and signed the driver, I've tried. To no avail, it doesn't work. I  saw a previous topic before about this, however I was a bit lost with the directions mentioned. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Did you try to configure your controls in the options ?

Yes I have, and refuses to register the UDLR input, but the buttons work fine. I've tried uninstalling the Microsoft drivers, then try installing the XBCD+ ones, but no dice.  I'm probably not seeing the error as far as I can tell.

I saw this topic here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=6177.0) that talked about it. Eh, I lost myself at the seventh post. I'm just wondering how he got his LS and RS registered as well as the POV hats.

edit: What's even odder is that the certain emulators respond perfectly to the inputs

XBCD 0.2.7 is what you want.

Do you have a regular TE, or the SSFIV version?  The sticker on the bottom of the stick will say ' Tournament Edition "S" ' if it's the SSFIV one.  You also have to manually install the driver from the device manager after you've enabled test mode and signed the driver.

Heh, I tend to do that.

You don't want to use the LS/RS settings anyway, they're flaky.  That's why MadCatz tells people to use the DP setting.  I use the XBCD remap utility to make the DP setting move the invisible analog stick (what you would get by setting LS).

This is the stick I have. And yes, it says Tournament edition.

Well I'm going to uninstall the drivers, try what you recommended see how it goes. Also want to clarify something, after I had activated DSEO, I just reinstall the drivers from there right?

Edit: Looks like I had to edit the line where the USB id was it.  Turns out that this line

USB\VID_1BAD&PID_F038
Had to be edited in order for the driver to actually install. Talk about weird.

So pretty much now I have to map everything don't I?

Since I didn't see it mentioned, which OS are you using?

It's either a Round 1 or Round 2 stick, so you shouldn't need to futz around with the INF file.

After you enable Test Mode, you'll need to use DSEO and pick "Sign a System File".  It'll give you a text box for you to enter the path to a file, and you'll want to sign the XBCD driver, which is "C:\Program Files\XBCD\Driver\xbcd.sys" on my system.  If you've uninstalled/reinstalled XBCD (this (http://www.xtemu.com/forum/xbcd-027-file48.html) is the one you'll want) you'll need to sign it again.

Also, If you don't already have the MSVC++ 2010 runtimes you'll need those before installing.  This (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84&displaylang=en) you'll need whether or not you're using a 32-bit operating system, and this one (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=BD512D9E-43C8-4655-81BF-9350143D5867&displaylang=en) if you're using a 64-bit OS.

Well I forgot to say. My OS is Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.

I had to actually edit it because the driver didn't want to show up at first. And found that out by accident when I looked at the Hardware Ids tab.

But I managed to get the drivers working and they are responding. But one little thing left, If I leave the little switch under DP it won't move. However, if I put it on LS it works.

I set up D-Pad to move the left analog stick.  Open the XBCD Setup Utility, and change the D-Pad entries to match the Left Stick ones (Top = Y-, Bottom = Y+, Left = X-, Right = X+).  Click apply.

After that things should work properly (check the Windows control panel).  You might have to reconnect the stick the first time you do this.

Perfect. Everything works now including some of the other emulators. Thanks a lot
