Title: [Art] The Admiral's notebook
Post by: Mounting Jaggis on March 14, 2011, 11:23:47 PM
Lately I've been trying to draw on my sketch book and also using a tablet, but I keep erasing the drawings because I think it looks terrible. Sometimes I might draw something that I think is decent on my notebook while in class and I want to make it better in my sketchbook but it never ends up being as good as my first time. Then I thought, why not share what  I have on my notebook, my drawings there always ends up better than anything else I try to draw. But I have a real problem, everytime I want to attempt to draw something on my sketchbook I always say to myself "Why bother? It's just going to look terrible anyways." This isn't a good attitude for me especially since I'm studying for a degree in Game Art. Most of the time I think the characters I draw feel lifeless, the style I'm going for doesn't look good, or something just doesn't seem right. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice to help me improve.

But enough of me talking, here is some of the stuff I liked from my notebook:

This is the first thing I though looked decent. (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0001.jpg) At first I tried to draw Nitori in some sort of Steampunkish clothing, but then I decided to add like a mad scientist's head on a flying saucer.

I tried drawing Courage, (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0002.jpg) but he ended up looking like something that would scare him.

It's a hobo dwarf and a monster from Amnesia: The Dark Descent, (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0003.jpg) or at least what I think it looks like before the screen goes blurry from insanity.

This page is filled with things that just want to hug you. (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0004.jpg) And possibly eat your face too.

It's supposed to be Utsuho in Metal-themed clothing. (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0006.jpg) I liked how the control rod turned out, but I thing the thing on her right foot looks silly.

IKU (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0007.jpg)

It's Cirno and a jester (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0008.jpg)

Random stuff (http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee430/AdmiralSkye/Sketches/scan0009.jpg)

So I drew more stuff:

Here's a few muscle guys (http://i52.tinypic.com/2qu7wk5.jpg)

Some female characters. (http://i51.tinypic.com/2dtro0o.jpg) I'm still not satisfied with the style I draw female characters, I'm gonna keep trying until I get a style I like.

An unfinished drawing of someone (http://i56.tinypic.com/34t7omb.jpg)

Ichirin in the Sky. (http://i55.tinypic.com/2n9dox1.jpg) This is the first time I draw something with an angled perspective. I had to erase a lot because half the time Ichirin looked like a dwarf. I also tried doing shadows which I'm absolutely terrible at.
