Title: New Hori-ZUN 3 coming to Reitaisai
Post by: N-Forza on March 10, 2011, 03:40:39 AM
Check the website for a preview. http://ddiction.org Right now it's only on the Japanese side, but I'll post the other details here.

This is the last in a series of parodies of Japanese-style middle school textbooks. (Even the name is a reference to "New Horizon.") The first one was written by me and KirbyM of Walfas was the sole artist. Now on the third book, we've gotten 8 artists, American and Japanese to contribute art for the book, including MotK's very own Slaves. It's a full-color, 56-pager which will sell for 900 yen at Reitaisai. There might also be a demo of the listening CD we have cooking.

If you are not fortunate enough to be in Japan, I will be more than happy to ship overseas. Haven't got a final total yet, but it will probably be around $25 USD shipped.

56 pages! Really are going all-in on this, aren't you. Can't wait.

You have your circle card up yet?

are you asking about the 'he's part of this book' part or the 'older futuristic nautical leader loving clone' part? BV

The 'he's part of the book' part.

Needs photos of the book being sold at Reitaisai N-Forza, hard. Make it happen.

Are the descriptions in the 'Now you try' here (http://ddiction.org/pimg/2011q1/nh3_ch1.jpg) and here (http://ddiction.org/pimg/2011q1/nh3_chEx.jpg) supposed to be mismatched?

What happened to New Hori-ZUN 2?

Yes, the activity is to match the sentences to the correct pictures.

And 2 was sold at Comiket 78, last August. It sold out and we keep planning on having reprints, but it's hard to do that when printing our new releases take up most of the budget.

Looks good. Best of luck at Reitaisai.

Is your circle still accepting new contributors, or are you going to keep it relatively small?

Well, the next "new" book probably won't be until next year, but we'll see. There might be less people involved though, since this time was cutting it a little too close deadline-wise (for some reason)

Noticed that myself. I thought the cover look rather Create.swf-y (note to self, copyright the term "swiffy") as well, and sure enough, KirbyM's in there as well.

Oh, to have artistic talent.

Hey, I didn't know about any of this, I figured it was all Walfas. I'll buy one as soon as you guys can get things rolling again.

We have all the books printed, but the other guy lives kind of far away, so getting all those books to me might be problematic. At the moment, I'm just going to wait for when they announce the new date for Reitaisai, and if it isn't too far away, I'll get the books then.

Any plans to take this project in the other direction?  You know, to teach Japanese to Westerners?

Not unless the US suddenly generates a huge doujinshi culture overnight.

We could do that, but it would probably be nothing beyond a volunteer-based website that probably wouldn't generate any revenue for anything.

Wait, wait, wait... I never heard of this. Are these English course books for Japanese with a touhou theme?

THAT'S SO AWESOME!

If you'd do that, I'd be one happy chump

No, what he said was right.

Technically, I could go ahead and sell overseas right now, but getting the books to me at the moment wouldn't be worth it. However, instead of getting them the weekend of May 8th (Reitaisai's new date), I would be able to get them a week earlier since we will be selling them at M3, which is actually a music & audio-focused event that we will be at selling copies of our first listening CD. So I might be able to ship stuff out the week after May 1st.

Oh, sorry. Now that I read it, I see it might be interpreted in two ways, lol.
I mean- Books for learning English for Japanese people.

A very interesting idea, I might add. Especially tempting to buy because it includes Touhou and it's very colorful. My eye is caught at least. If you'd had a reverse version, for English speakers to learn Japanese, I'd buy in a blink of an eye. But someone suggested a website. Very nice indeed.

So yeah, Reitaisai is tomorrow. I'll be getting 20-25 copies for the sole purpose of selling via mail but if you want anything else (the first book, file folders) let me know ASAP.

I am way, way behind on my shipments due to things like the weather and car seats, and I kind of forgot who else ordered a copy here. I'm getting bix's out today, but if anyone else wanted one, a little reminder would be nice.
