>You are Sakuya Izayoi, chief maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
>In this mansion, you live with the people you consider family:
-Remilia Scarlet, also known as the Scarlet Devil. She is your Mistress, and the highest in command of the Scarlet Devil Mansion (After this, abbreviated to SDM)
-Flandre Scarlet, Remilia's younger sister. She is very volatile, and should be treated as such. She has been living in the cellar for 495 years, and has very little social skills.
-Patchouli Knowledge, the librarian of the SDM. She is very knowledgable, but also retreated and doesn't like being outside or talking to people she doesn't know.
-Hong Meiling, the guard. Notorious for being lazy, but trained in the Chinese martial art of Qi.
>You have a grudge against:
-The magician, Marisa Kirisame. She has broken into the SDM at various occasions, according to her to loan some books, yet she never returns them.
-The miko, Reimu Hakurei
>You wake up, as usual. You get dressed, collect tea ingredients from the storage and make Mistress' morning tea. When you are bringing tea to Remilia, she is not in her room.
Instead, you find a small note with 11 words: "Going out. Fate is going out of whack. Be back soon.
>Worried, you set out to find your Mistress and assist her in whatever she is doing
And so, the adventure begins.
Inventory: Your inventory is currently empty
Stamina: As Sakuya is human, she has to sleep every night. The shorter she sleeps, the less stamina she recovers.
Her stamina is currently at 95 %. Stamina can be recovered by either sleeping or eating. Moving from one place to another or engaging in a danmaku battle requires stamina
Attacking: Sakuya has a few different attacks up her sleeve.
-Random Knives: Sakuya throws a random variety of knives at the enemy. This uses 4 % stamina
-Time Stop: Sakuya has the ability to stop time. This attack is mostly uses to get away. This uses 8 % stamina
-Sakuya's World: This attack combines both throwing knives and Time Stop to attack the enemy for heavy damage. This uses 15 % stamina
Now, begin your adventure, Maid!
-
> Check pads are in place
-
>Ditch maid outfit.
>Put on yellow jacket and pants, and a green heart tiara.
-
>
Retrieve arms from safe.
> Grab some knives from the kitchen. We can never be too prepared.
-
>Consider personal possessions that may be useful.
>Also go ask Patchouli what's up.
-
>"Pads? What pads?" (Knifed)
(I am just straight on going to ignore this post)
>You grab a spare set of knives from the kitchen.
>Sakuya doesn't have many personal belongings. As a maid, all she really does is clean up and make tea. She's Remilia's bodyguard too, but that's what the knives are there for. There's also the storage room, wherein various poisonous herbs and other tea ingredients, cleaning stuff and all kinds of food.
>You go to the library, and speak to Patchouli. "Miss Patchouli?" She seems to be asleep. Do you want to risk waking her up?
-
>Might as well. Worst thing she can do is die on us, and that just gets rid of another freeloader.
-
> Glance around for Koakuma.
-
>What is the cause for our grudge against Reimu Hakurei precisely? getting beaten up?
-
> Glance around for Koakuma.
>You decide to look for Koakuma before needlessly waking Miss Patchouli. You find her in the back of the library, standing on a ladder.
>What is the cause for our grudge against Reimu Hakurei precisely? getting beaten up?
>Your grudge against Hakurei-san is for defeating your Mistress, all the way back when Remilia had spread a scarlet mist around all of Gensokyo. She also beat you up that time. You did get some revenge during the Moon incident, but you're still kind of angry at her
(Also! Hey, I'm back! I hope this won't count as bumping?)
-
No, but I lost hope for you to come :(
>"Hello, Koakuma"
-
>Have a short conversation with koakuma
>PADSPADSPADSPADS Ask her if she can find any books regarding maidlylikelyness
-
No, but I lost hope for you to come :(
>"Hello, Koakuma"
>"Oh! Hello, miss Sakuya! You startled me.." She giggles. "How can I help you?"
>Have a short conversation with koakuma
>PADSPADSPADSPADS Ask her if she can find any books regarding maidlylikelyness
>"Uh? What about, then? Remilia's gone missing? Oh no! That's bad... I didn't even see her leave. When did she leave?"
>"Oh? Books about maidlikeness? They're over there, on shelf G15 of layer 5. There's loads of information on how a maid should behave, all the things a maid can do, and there's even an encyclopedia about all the different cleaning utensils!"
-
>"I'll keep that shelf in mind. I have business to attend to." *italics is thinking to self* So there's more utensils then a spoon...?
>Well, You have nothing to lose, try waking patchy up via giant pat on the back. Or a knife. Either is fine.
-
>"I'll keep that shelf in mind. I have business to attend to." *italics is thinking to self* So there's more utensils then a spoon...?
>Well, You have nothing to lose, try waking patchy up via giant pat on the back. Or a knife. Either is fine.
>The word utensil is also a general term for any kind of tool, not just those used to eat. There's more to life than eating, after all!
>You decide it would be enough to give her some pats in the back. She's a friend after all!
>*Pat*
>She doesn't wake immediately, but murmurs in the way she always does
>"Don't wake me yet I need my sleep to recover energy go away Koakuma it's only 7 after all wake me again when it's 8 if you will"
>Seems like she's not going to wake up untill eight...
-
>
Make it 8 o'clock
-
> Make it 8 o'clock
>I second this Tell Patchy that it's urgent news.
>If all else fails, say the black-whites here.
>If that fails take a book and leave the library, Patchy will surely know its gone.
-
>I second this Tell Patchy that it's urgent news.
>If all else fails, say the black-whites here.
>If that fails take a book and leave the library, Patchy will surely know its gone.
That was actually my intention :D
>"Miss Patchouli! It's urgent! It's about Remilia!"
>She murmurs:"Can't remilia take care of herself I thought she was supposed to be the strongest around here or am I mistaken?"
>As a last resort, you yell:"But it's really important! It's the Black-White! She's looking for Remilia!"
>Suddenly, Patchouli wakes up, frantically looking around for Marisa.
-
>"Okay, The Black-white isnt really here. I just had to wake you up, its urgent." *reach into pocket for note*
>Realizing that you're a dumbfuck and didn't pick up the note, Stop time, go back, and grab the note. Put it in your inventory.
>THEN show Patchy the note.
-
>You reverse time to when you first grabbed the note, and then reroute time back to when Patchouli woke up.
>You show Patchouli the note
>"Uh? Yes, I knew Remilia had left. Didn't she tell you?"
-
(suppose I'm the only one here?)
>"No, It's moreso I want to know exactly what this note means. 'Fate going out of whack?' Explain."
>Offer Patchy tea if she wants to explain.
edit:
How much stamina does sakuya have again?
-
(suppose I'm the only one here?)
>"No, It's moreso I want to know exactly what this note means. 'Fate going out of whack?' Explain."
>Offer Patchy tea if she wants to explain.
edit:
How much stamina does sakuya have again?
>"Fate going out of whack? I don't think she said anything about that..."
>She's starting to sound a bit worried, so you offer her a cup of tea.
>When you come back with the tea, Koakuma is standing next to Patchouli
>Patchy says:"Koakuma says she might know something related"
>"Eh, yees, I was just stacking some books when Remilia came to me, asking me if I knew where the entrance to Makai was"
>Makai? Where's that?
(Oh right.. Sakuya's stamina is currently 92 %. Teleporting that short of a range only uses up 3 %)
-
(How much stamina does eating and sleeping heal?)
>"Please, tell me more Koakuma".
-> Also ask her where the entrance is, along with exactly what Remillia said, word for word. We dont want to miss any small details, after all.
>PADSPADSPADSPADSPADS ZA WARUDO Go around gathering information from all the staff members, then leave.
-> Ask meiling for some info on the way out, ask if remillia said anything.
-
> Ask Koakuma where (and what) Makai is supposed to be. Does Remilia have any business there?
-
> Ask Koakuma where (and what) Makai is supposed to be. Does Remilia have any business there?
>You ask Koakuma what and where Makai is supposed to be.
>"I don't know a lot about it myself... From what I've heard, it's a world where demons roam freely and humans can't live because of the constant poisonous miasma.
Magic powers are supposed to be able to learn and enhance there. Its residents are mostly youkai, but there's apparently also the selfproclaimed "Goddess of Makai" that is supposed to live there. As far as my book goes, she's one of the persons who can open a portal to there.. The other one.... Well, you should know who that is, but I don't know if you should trust her. From what you've told me, she seems kinda shifty"

>PADSPADSPADSPADSPADS ZA WARUDO Go around gathering information from all the staff members, then leave.
-> Ask meiling for some info on the way out, ask if remillia said anything.
>(Sleeping heals 40 % of your stamina. A small meal like some sandwiches or similar heals 10 %, a bigger meal like you're used to heals about 20 to 25 %)
>You ask her what Remilia said.
>"Well, she didn't actually say anything, she just asked about Makai, about a day or two ago... I don't think I told her anymore than I've told you, but when I spoke of the "Goddess of Makai", she seemed to smile.. It was really creepy!"
>You've already spoken to Patchouli and Koakuma.
>You go to the staff quarters, to ask the fairies whether they've seen anything, but the usual fairy chitter-chatter makes it so that you don't actually learn anything useful.
>You could go to Flandre, if you wanted....
-
>Dont bother with flandre. You dont want her getting upset about remillia going out.
-> You could attempt to lie if you really wanted to, but chances are flan wouldn't know anything more then we do.
>Teleport behind Meiling and wake her up.
-> Ask her if she saw Remi leave
--> If she didnt, proceed to stab knife into back of her head and leave.
(I personally love meiling, but hey, this is srs bzns that shes not paying attention to)
-

>You decide it would be best to not involve Flandre into this (yet).. If you need something to go "Kyuu!", you'll know where to find her.
>You use your time-governing powers to position yourself next to the great red gate of the SDM. Surprisingly, China Meilin is not asleep at the gate. Well, she sleeps in a small house near the gate, but it's close enough. Instead, she is practicing the martial art of Qi.
-
>Hmmm. You decide to leave her alone for now. It's not every day she's actually putting a good deal of effort into things.
>You have no idea on where to go. Maybe run some errands?
-
>Hmmm. You decide to leave her alone for now. It's not every day she's actually putting a good deal of effort into things.
>You have no idea on where to go. Maybe run some errands?
>You could always run some errands in the Human Village. You should ask around, too.
-
>
did ya finish those errandserrandserrandserrandserrandserrNO
tbh I'm kinda at a loss on what to do right now.
-
> Very reluctant to go, but consider consulting Reimu, since she's been everywhere.
-
> Very reluctant to go, but consider consulting Reimu, since she's been everywhere.
>That's true. Reimu has been everywhere, maybe she's even been in Makai?
>You don't want to go, though...
>Will you go to the village, then?
>Or... you could try to find 'that person'
-
(that person?)
>You could always go to Reimu and say that Remillias missing
-> say some crazy shit about the balance in nature going out of whack if she's gone
-
> Recall the name of that person.
-
> Recall the name of that person.
>You fought her, some years ago. Her name was... Yakumo?
>Are you sure you want to go to Reimu. Given, she's more reliable than Marisa-san, but still...
-
> The Scarlet Mist Incident is a thing of the past. Reimu can't be that bad.
> Still...recall the SDM's allies.
-
> The Scarlet Mist Incident is a thing of the past. Reimu can't be that bad.
> Still...recall the SDM's allies.
>That is true... Perhaps you should reconsider the possiblity..
>The SDM, apart from it's inhabitants, doesn't have many allies. You have sometimes talked with the ice fairy and her friends, but she isn't really reliable...
>You remember Yakumo-san visiting Remilia in the time that the oni popped up. You don't actually know if they're friends or not, but you could always look for her?
-
>You dont really know where Yukari could be, and you'd look like an idiot shouting all over gensokyo for her
>You could ask Reimu about where remi is
> or ask her about where Yukari may be
>DONT FORGET TO PUT ON PADS
-
>You dont really know where Yukari could be, and you'd look like an idiot shouting all over gensokyo for her
>You could ask Reimu about where remi is
> or ask her about where Yukari may be
>DONT FORGET TO PUT ON PADS
>You could just yell for her. She could probably hear it, but you don?t think she cares.. Big brother is always watching you!
>So, to Reimu it is?
-
> Reimu seems to be the most reliable person to go to.
Wait, if there's an incident, why would Reimu still be at the shrine?
-
>Proceed to the Hakurei Shrine
-
>Seems like its time to go to Reimu's.
>Try to arrive polietly, via CRASHING THROUGH THE FUCKING CEILING ARRRRRGH.
>In all seriousness, fly there.
Can we get an update on stamina?
-
>Seems like its time to go to Reimu's.
>Try to arrive polietly, via CRASHING THROUGH THE FUCKING CEILING ARRRRRGH.
>In all seriousness, fly there.
Can we get an update on stamina?
(Hey, people actually posted! Even new people! Welcome!)
>It seems so..
>You forget ever thinking about this possibility. You may not like Reimu, but that doesn't mean you have to destroy her house. Destroying her should be enough.
>You fly towards the Hakurei Shrine.
>When you arrive at the steps, you get the feeling someone is watching you...
>You hear some trees rustling
Your stamina is now at 87 %.
-
> Look towards the rustling; keep a hand near our kitchen knives in case we need to shank someone.
-
> Look towards the rustling; keep a hand near our kitchen knives in case we need to shank someone.
>You walk towards the rustling, holding your knives ready
>You see some black wings in the trees!
-
> "Who goes there?"
-
> "Who goes there?"
>"Ayayayayaaa~, you found me out"
>This can only mean one thing.. Aya Shameimaru, Gensokyo's sole paparazzo.
>Aya walks out of the bushes, slowly, seeing your knives
-
>"If you dont leave right this second, I'll make sure that you will Never. Fly. Again."
>We dont want her to hear a single word from us anyways. The longer she's around, the more trouble it is.
-
>"If you dont leave right this second, I'll make sure that you will Never. Fly. Again."
>We dont want her to hear a single word from us anyways. The longer she's around, the more trouble it is.
>"Buut~" she says, but you throw some knives at her.
>Quickly, she flies away, no doubt to her tengu buddies at the mountain..
>You walk up the shrine's stairs, under the gate.
>The shrine door's closed, but you see someone in the storage hut behind it.
(Also, boo you for scaring away my favourite character :<)
-
> What does that person in the storage hut look like?
-
(I fucking love aya myself. But Sakuya doesnt. So hah.)
>Stop time and get a quick glance at the person in the hut, then return to your spot.
-> if said person is friend, not foe, calmy approach them
-> if said person is foe... Let someone else fucking decide jeesus
-

>You stop time and take a look at the person. It's a girl, obviously. She's wearing very strange clothes... Maybe they're from the outside world?
>Then, you look up, and you see her horns...
>"Oh..." you utter. It was just Suika all along.
>But how did she get those clothes? Did Yakumo get them for her?
-
> Put knives away and calmly approach Suika.
-
^
> Is Suika sleeping?
-
> Put knives away and calmly approach Suika.
>You reroute time and slowly approach Suika.
>She hears something behind her and turns to you.
>"Oh! It's you, the maid from the devil's mansion! What brings you here?"
^
> Is Suika sleeping?
>No, she's rummaging through the storage hut
-
>"Good morning"
>Observe what is she doing.
>"Where might the shrine maiden be?"
-
>In the case she doesnt know, leave the shrine and go to the human village.
>Maybe you might want to ask that teacher lady. It seems she knows everything about everyone, and arent history and fate just two parts of an end?
(like i said i'm kinda dry right now)
-
fffff why am i even here
> "Good morning :V"
> "Is the shrine maiden home at the moment?"
if(isHome(Reimu)) { findReimu; } else if(!isHome(Reimu)) { if(suikaKnows(ReimuLocation)) { findReimu; } else { goto(HumanVillage); } }
-
>"Good morning"
>Observe what is she doing.
>"Where might the shrine maiden be?"
>You decide to go with a decent manner of speech
>She's rummaging through Reimu's stuff. She seems to be looking for something.
>"Good morning to you too! What's the problem? You don't come here very often, do ya?"
>You ask her where Reimu is.
>"Oh, you're looking for Reimu? Well that's a first!"
>"I think she's gone to the Human Village, to get some alcohol for the party"
>"Oh, also, can you ask Remilia if she wants to come, too? Don't ask the librarian though, she's a loud drunk!"
-
>Decide to lie to her and tell her that Remillia's having a day relaxing at home, so she cant exactly come.
>"What's this about Patchy being a 'loud drunk'?"
-
>Decide to lie to her and tell her that Remillia's having a day relaxing at home, so she cant exactly come.
>"What's this about Patchy being a 'loud drunk'?"
>You tell her Remilia is relaxing at home for a day, but she doesn't seem to buy it. Not that you care if an oni trusts you, anyways..
>"Patchy? That's her name? And you didn't notice her shouting at the last party? She really got very angry when someone called her library 'puny'! I had to stop her from declaring a spellcard!"
-
Players, keep in mind- this is Sakuya. Act like an elegant perfect maid then.
>"Oh, my. I hope no one was hurt... much"
>Look around for Reimu
-
Players, keep in mind- this is Sakuya. Act like an elegant perfect maid then.
>"Oh, my. I hope no one was hurt... much"
>Look around for Reimu
Players, also keep in mind Smok tends to write very elegantly for some reason. I guess that's just a side-effect of writing a Ran-RPG?)
>"Nothing too bad. I managed to stop her before she could set fire to the booze!"
>You look around the Shrine for Reimu, but Suika seems to be telling the truth.
>You wouldn't want to invade Reimu's private space, would you?
-
>That would be improper.
>"Then I bid you farewell, miss oni"
>Bow.
>Fly away unless she has anything more to say
-
>"Oh? You're leaving already? Can't you help me find the... thing?"
>Are you really leaving? Or are you interested in what Suika is looking for?
-
> Turn back.
> "And what is it this 'thing' that you are looking for?"
-
> Turn back.
> "And what is it this 'thing' that you are looking for?"
>"Well, my gourd, of course! I thought I'd stored it in here, but it's not here anymore... It seems to have disappeared."
>Oh my. This is really bad.. The last time Suika went sober, she went on a short destruction rampage, before being stopped by Yakumo.
>Then, Suika seems to have an epiphany.
>"Disappeared? Oh! Now I get it.. But why would she do that? She'd never take my gourd..."
-
> "Someone stole it?"
-
>"Well, I know of only one person who can make something disappear into thin air." she says. "Or even better: Into hammerspace..."
-
>
MC Hammer?
>"And who would said person be?"
-
>'Well, Yukari, of course! Don't tell me you hadn't guessed that. You've fought her before, haven't you? Back when the ghosts were stealing spring?"
-
Well excuuuuuuuuse me for only playing EoSD :V
-
>"Ah, yes, yes, that is correct."
>"Where might she be then?"
-
>"Ah, yes, yes, that is correct."
>"Where might she be then?"
>"Yukari? She could be anywhere!"
>Then, suddenly, you hear a voice from somewhere
>"Oh, is someone calling me~?"
-
>"Why yes indeed. Would it be rude of me to inquire your assistance in something? It's not something small like a missing napkin or something but - well, I'd prefer to tell you in private. All I know is that it could be big."
>After leading yukari (or her leading you), Show her the note and explain how no one knows what she's doing, and that everyones worried about her. Ask Yukari to help you as politely as possible.
-
>"Why yes indeed.
>"I wasn't talking to you, silly maid! I was talking to my friend~"
>"Oh, Yukari! Nice timing there, I was just looking for ya. Someone stole my gourd!"
>"Oh really, did they? Well, that's not too nice~ And you want me to find it? I guess I could do that"
>She just blatantly ignored you! You're not going to sit around and wait, are you?
>You manage to find her. She's hanging in a gap above the storage hut, looking impressive and big-breasted as always.
-
>squishy breasts makes sakuya a jealous girl
>"H-Hey, I have some important matters to discuss with you though Yukari!"
-
>squishy breasts makes sakuya a jealous girl
>"H-Hey, I have some important matters to discuss with you though Yukari!"
>"Oh? Important matters? Then why didn't you say that earlier? About Remilia, mayhap?"
>She laughs in her own creepy way
>"She went to look for trouble, and found the consequences. And soon you will too!"
>She attacks you with kunai spreading in a wavy pattern!
-
oh come the fuck on.
>Well it seems like Yukari wont be of any help, and you know that you cant best her. A least, not now, with that oni there. She may just help Yukari, and you'd prefer not to take that risk.
>Stop time and flee the scene. Hopefully Yukari wont care too much.
>When you are at the mansion, inform everyone about how Yukari attacked you, and you think she has a hand in Remi's disappearance.
-
>oh for the love of god
>You stop time and flee, but not before being surprised by some danmaku. You lose some stamina
>When you are at a fair distance, you hear the oni screaming:"Hey! What was that good for!?"
>You find your way to the lake, and once there, you see the ice fairy, skating around on the ice.
>She notices you're hurt, and speaks to you
>"Oh, it's miss maid! What happened? You don't look good!"
-
>"Yukari. Sigh"
>"Apparently she's getting involved in some trouble again..."
>ponder if the ice fairy could be of use.
-
>"Yukari. Sigh"
>"Apparently she's getting involved in some trouble again..."
>ponder if the ice fairy could be of use.
>"Yukari? Who's that? And why did she attack you? Again? She's gotten into trouble before? Why aren't you telling me anything?"
>Perhaps.. Freezing people could be useful, right?
-
>Well yeah, freezing people could be quite useful, though the only problem is she's so dumb she might accidently freeze an ally.
>"Think of her like the bad guy. And as we all know, the bad guys always think their the strongest. But I'm pretty sure theres someone out here whos stronger then her..."
-
>Well yeah, freezing people could be quite useful, though the only problem is she's so dumb she might accidently freeze an ally.
>"Think of her like the bad guy. And as we all know, the bad guys always think their the strongest. But I'm pretty sure theres someone out here whos stronger then her..."
>You seem to have hit a tough spot..
>"What!? She's the strongest? No way! EYE AM THE STRONGUEST I'm the strongest!"
-
>Well, It's better to take a risk.
>Loose sakuya ON THE EDGE. COMING TO A 3D THREATER NEAR YOOOOOOU.
>"We might have to show her that, Miss... I'm sorry, I didnt quite catch your name."
>"However, We shouldn't just attack her head on. Hell, I dont want to attack her at all. If we HAVE to fight in order to get the info I need, then thats were you come in. I'd also like to have more people helping out. Know any friends, Miss?"
-
>Well, It's better to take a risk.
>Loose sakuya ON THE EDGE. COMING TO A 3D THREATER NEAR YOOOOOOU.
>"We might have to show her that, Miss... I'm sorry, I didnt quite catch your name."

>That might be true..
>"That's because I didn't say it!" she says, widely grinning.
>"My name's Cirno, the ice fairy! Be sure to remember it!"
>"Oh.. Well.. I don't have many friends.. I was playing with those three fairies in the winter, but then...."
>She suddenly seems angry
>"Wait! That's right! They destroyed my house! We should go get them, now!"
-
>"Who? Those friends of yours?"
>We might as well follow and help her out. She could be a great asset to us after all.
I'm posting this under the assumption Sakuya does not know cirno that much.
-
>"Who? Those friends of yours?"
>We might as well follow and help her out. She could be a great asset to us after all.
I'm posting this under the assumption Sakuya does not know cirno that much.
>"Yeah, Star, Sunny and Luna, the Three Mischievous Fairies! Haven't you read about them in the newspaper?"
>You tell her you'll help her. She seems very pleased, and surprisingly, hugs you!
>Indeed, Sakuya usually doesn't enjoy the company of fairies.
(Also, why are you now the only one posting? I'd like to have a certain Purv, if possible? :P )
-
>You tell her you'll help her. She seems very pleased, and surprisingly, hugs you!
d'awwwwww
-
>"I do not read the paper often"
>"Also, please, if you may..."
>DO we know of other powerful entities that might be of help? Fairies don't sound like a good idea ...
-
Well, they DO respawn quite a lot. They could make a nice quick distraction.
-
Well, they DO respawn quite a lot. They could make a nice quick distraction.
And who are employees of the SDM and we can order them around freely?
-
More faeries = at least 1 more millisecond we can prepare for what to do.
The fact that Cirno has some powers, she can kinda stall Yukari's bullets for a little while.
-
(lol slowchat)
>"Oh, you don't like hugs? Nor reading the most amazing and truthful paper in all of Gensokyo? Oh well... Let's get going, then!"
>She gestures towards the forest.
>Fairies do reincarnate instantly, because of the frivolous lifestyle they have. It doesn't really make sense, but you guess Yuyuko is just biased.
>You are the mistress of the SDM when Remilia is away. If needed, you can command Patchouli and Koakuma, Hong Meirin, a small army of cleaning fairies and Flandre (Though she likes you, she's very stubborn and highly volatile)
>Are you really wanting to just flatout attack Yukari? She went easy on you last time, you should at least have some kind of strategy!
-
>Well no, We arent sure. Again, Patchy will help us devise a plan on the offchance that the next time we see Yukari, she might attack us. She cant overpower the whole SDM combined... right?
>Follow Cirno.
>"Say, Cirno? Mind telling me a bit more about this newspaper you're talking about? I'd like to read it, if you dont mind."
Srsly we need to figure out a plan for yukari. I can say almost for sure that she wants to attack us, no matter what we say or do, and we most likely wont find Reimu to help us. And the fact that you cant trust marisa doesnt help.
-
Gah, I leave for a day and I can't follow what's happened? Oh well.
> Follow Cirno. "What kind of newspaper is it? Is it the one I think it is?"
-
Gah, I leave for a day and I can't follow what's happened? Oh well.
> Follow Cirno. "What kind of newspaper is it? Is it the one I think it is?"
>"It's the new newspaper! The reporter is totally awesome. She's got this amazing thing called a 'cell phone', but she can use it as a camera! She's way cooler than Aya!"
>You follow Cirno into the woods
-
Cell phone's quality is crap, Cirno <cough, cough>
>"My, my, surely interesting indeed"
>Proceed into the woods. Might as well do so...
-
lolcellphone.
> "A cell phone? Oh, I've heard of those."
> Well, keep following Cirno.
-
lolcellphone.
> "A cell phone? Oh, I've heard of those."
> Well, keep following Cirno.
>"Oh, you have? I wouldn't have thought so, living in such a big mansion. You almost never come out!"
>You follow Cirno up untill you reach a clearing in the trees.
>"Here it is! Here it is!" she yells.
>You hear another fairie's voice:
>"Oh? It's you, Cirno? Good timing! Someone left us a declaration of war! Can you help us find her?"
>"Hey! It's Star! I was looking for you!"
>They continue babbling for a while, but then Cirno mentions she left the declaration of war because they destroyed her house!
>They start a danmaku battle!
-
>Look around for anyone else nearby, try to figure out where that newspaper is.
>Stop time, go home, grab a folding chair, and sit back and watch the show.
>When they're done, continue on with what you were doing.
-
>Look around for anyone else nearby, try to figure out where that newspaper is.
>Stop time, go home, grab a folding chair, and sit back and watch the show.
>When they're done, continue on with what you were doing.
>Well, you're pretty sure it isn't Aya's newspaper, because Cirno said so. Maybe there's a new reporter in Gensokyo?
>You stop time, and go all the way back to the SDM, grab a folding chair from the storage, and go back.
>After that, you sit on it and enjoy the show. You discover Cirno is actually quite strong! She can freeze bullets (but only sometimes) and fires ice shards.
>You catch some of the ice shards. They seem to be a pretty good substitute for knives!
>Star, on the other hand, uses a lot of comet-like spellcards. They look pretty nice
>Star didn't put up a lot of fight. After a few minutes, she is beaten and flees into the forest.
>"I got her! Now for the other two!"
>She leads you to the house that's a few hundred meters in front of you
-
>Follow and enjoy even more. Silly fairies
-
>Follow and enjoy even more. Silly fairies
>It seems that even you can enjoy the company of such a frivolous person as a fairy.
>You follow her into the house, but there's something off...
-
>What might that be?
>Look around
-
>What might that be?
>Look around
>You look around.. To your surprise, the house is very finely decorated.. And that furniture... Wait!
>You realize it looks exactly like the furniture in the SDM!
-
>Either stolen or...
>Ignore fairies, explore this more. Any people around here? Or at least other living beings except plants?
-
> Stop time, investigate, and make yourself a cup of tea in the kitchen, where, hopefully, the stuff inside is the same as the stuff in the SDM. (recover stamina)
-
> Stop time, investigate, and make yourself a cup of tea in the kitchen, where, hopefully, the stuff inside is the same as the stuff in the SDM. (recover stamina)
>There's no one else here.. This is really fishy...
>You go to the kitchen.. It looks exactly like the kitchen in the SDM.. But the things aren't actually here! It's an illusion!
-
>Resume time
>"Who's home is this?" loud
-
> Yell "Is there anyone home?"
> Maybe this is actually a fake SDM?
-
>You hear two fairies laughing..
>"Oh, so they finally noticed!"says the one fairy
>"Oh, so it was Sunny after all!" Cirno says
>The illusion disappears, and you see two fairies sitting in front of a small hut, significantly smaller than the house you were just in...
-
>Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all.
>kinda like i am with my ZA WARUDO
>"That was a neat little trick you did. How did you do it exactly?"
-
>Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all.
>kinda like i am with my ZA WARUDO
>"That was a neat little trick you did. How did you do it exactly?"
>One of the fairies, who has orange-ish hair and is wearing a red-white dress, says:"It's easy! I just deflect the sun's rays in some way or another to make an illusion. It doesn't work in rain, though!"
>The other fairy, who has dark blond hair, a long white dress with ribbons, and a pair of wings in the shape of a moon, says:"Shh, Sunny! You're not supposed to spoil your powers to random youkai!"
>"Oh.. I'm sorry, Luna.." Sunny says
>Cirno seems ready to fight now! She attacks Luna with some random danmaku!
-
>"Oh, for crying out loud..."
>I don't think the fairies might be any useful for us, to be honest
-
>"Oh, for crying out loud..."
>I don't think the fairies might be any useful for us, to be honest
>The fairies don't seem particularily helpful, but you do want to help Cirno, right?
-
>We might as well get them to help us.
>After all, That ones ability is pretty useful...
-
>That is true.. Do you want to try to get them to go with you?
-
>Nothing to be lost by trying, correct?
>Let's do it.
>LEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOY
-
Hang on, they're firing at each other right?
-
Sigh
>Stop time.
>Move the other fairy right in front on Cirno's bullet so that she won't avoid.
>Resume time, let Cirno win.
-
Better idea.
>Stop time, move each of them in front of their own bullets. Then resume time. Proceed to watch at least a dual selfpwn.
-
Cannot hurt oneself with one's own bullets.
> Sigh.
> Cast spell card [Strange Art "Illusional Misdirection"]
By the way, isn't there a third fairy?
-
Better idea.
>Stop time, move each of them in front of their own bullets. Then resume time. Proceed to watch at least a dual selfpwn.
(I'm not sure anymore what you guys wanted, so I just tried...)
>You stop time, move them in front of their bullets, and resume time.
>Both Luna and Sunny get hit by their bullets, but Cirno manages to pull off a spellcard before she gets hit.
>You quickly back off before it manages to get to you.
Cannot hurt oneself with one's own bullets.
> Sigh.
> Cast spell card [Strange Art "Illusional Misdirection"]
By the way, isn't there a third fairy?
>You sigh once again
>You ready your spellcard
>There was a third fairy, Star, but Cirno scared her away. She should still be in the vicinity, though.
-
> Soshite wa ugoki desu... HIT IT!
> Chop off Luna's leg, force Sunny to fry it, eat the severed leg. They'll respawn eventually, anyway. (recover stamina?)
-
> Soshite wa ugoki desu... HIT IT!

>... What? You'd never do that! You're a refined youkai maid, remember!
-
>... What? You'd never do that! You're a refined youkai maid, remember!
lolwat
>Since you're so pro, Go into matrix time, And block all of Cirno's bullets with your knives.
>Proceed to look cool.
>ZA WARUDO
-
> Leave to look around the house for the third fairy, Star Sapphire.
EDIT: Isn't Sakuya a "weird" human?
-
lolwat
>Since you're so pro, Go into matrix time, And block all of Cirno's bullets with your knives.
>Proceed to look cool.
>ZA WARUDO
>Your intent is not to look 'cool', but recruit these fairies for their possibly useful abilities to find Remilia. You have no clue what Za Warudo means, but it sounds quite silly...> Leave to look around the house for the third fairy, Star Sapphire.
EDIT: Isn't Sakuya a "weird" human?
>You leave the house, and look for Star. You find her tending her wounds near the lake.
(Also, the time shenanigans you used cost you quite some stamina. Your stamine is now 78 %)
>You became a youkai in some way by being brought to Gensokyo by Remilia. You're not sure how that happened, though, or whether if that has anything to with anything.
-
Now that's.... new. New and not precisely true, but new.
>approach Star elegantly. Her reaction?
-
Now that's.... new. New and not precisely true, but new.
>approach Star elegantly. Her reaction?
>She somehow managed to see you before you even came out of the woods, because her eyes were already fixed at you.
>You slowly walk towards her
>She says:"Oh, it's the maid again? What do you want from me?"
-
>"You know who my Mistress is, right, fairy?"
-
>"You know who my Mistress is, right, fairy?"
>"Actually, I don't.. I come to the lake pretty often, but I've never seen her. I've heard things about a vampire who eats fairies and lives in the mansion, though! That's pretty scary!"
-
>"W-What?! Mistress does NOT eat such lowly creatures as yourself! She only eats the highest quality of food!"
-
>"W-What?! Mistress does NOT eat such lowly creatures as yourself! She only eats the highest quality of food!"
>"Oh, so Cirno was lying after all!? I knew it wasn't true, I really did!"
>You're beginning to lose your patience because of all these fairies.. It's now early afternoon, and you haven't found a lot of clues yet... Normally these incidents just solve themselves by randomly attacking people....
-
Still going with recruiting the lot, Kip? Cause I don't like the idea. Do it if you wanna pull it off.
-
Still though, If they get on our nerves, They still give a little help. And everything that puts us even a little closer to Remi helps.
But then again, I dont exactly know now... Hmmm.
-
>The voices inside your head seem conflicted.. Well, you've helped Cirno, maybe it would be a good idea to leave her as she is and tend to other business?
-
>Yeah, leave her be for now. We've helped her, hopefully she'll remember to return the favour.
-
>You go back to Cirno, bring her Star and tell her you were leaving.
>"Oh? You're already leaving? I thought we were having fun? Oh well, I guess you have some 'business to attend' or something..." she says.
>Well, where are you going now?
-
>We are looking for Mistress Remilia... Hmm... Aya Shameimaru is a know-it-all but asking her is like asking for trouble... She'll publish the fact that Remilia-sama's missing....
>Let's go to the Human Village.
-
>The Human Village seems like a sensible decision. It's only a short walk from here, some way west from the Mansion.
>When you get there, the village is in terror! Spirits are flying around, terrorizing the humans!
>You see Youmu nor Yuyuko anywhere, though... They don't look like normal spirits, either! They look really angry!
-
>Knife the spirits! Just like PCB! and make our way progressively onwards to the heart of the problem.
-
>Knife the spirits! Just like PCB! and make our way progressively onwards to the heart of the problem.
>You throw knives at spirits that are attacking the humans. They don't seem very strong...
>While fighting them, you see the Phoenix girl also fighting them. Her power is still awe-inspiring..
>When you've cleared the town of the spirits, the humans come out of their houses again.
>Akyu, the Child of Miare, comes out of her house, and says:"Oh, Izayoi-san, thank you for saving us! And you, Fujiwara-san, too!"
>The Phoenix girl says:"Heh... No problem, Akyu, those were pushovers. They didn't stand a chance!"
-
>"At your service. What is going on here, if I may ask? Who did this?"
-
>"I'm not sure. According to my memory, Yuyuko Saigyouji is mistress of the spirit realm. Though... These don't seem like normal spirits. They seem more.. evil" Akyu says.
>This sounds really ominous.. You're not really on good terms with miss Saigyouji...
>The humans are getting out their hiding. You also see the were-hakutaku/libriarian Kamishirasawa.
>After that, Mokou says:"If that's all, I'll be leaving now. I have some yakitori on the spits.."
-
>Should we ask Mokou for help finding out about our mistress?
-
>Should we ask Mokou for help finding out about our mistress?
>Well, you could always try. Or you could try engaging (is that the right word?) the help of other, more civilised Gensokyans.
-
You saying mokou aint civil?
>Yeah, We might as well ask her.
-
>Well, they do say incidents are times when true friendships are forged...
>You walk up to Mokou, and say hello
>"Hey! I've seen you around here, but not that much. What was your name again? PAD? You're pretty skillful with those knives, y'know that?"
-
>"I'm Izayoi Sakuya and I'm pretty aware of my skills, thank you for the compliment"
>"What do you think might have caused this incident?"
-
>"I'm Izayoi Sakuya and I'm pretty aware of my skills, thank you for the compliment"
>"What do you think might have caused this incident?"
>"Ookay, okay, you don't have to act so cold.. It was just a compliment anyways. Nice to meet you, also..." Mokou says
>Oof... That was a low blow..
>"I'm not sure.. Though I have lived in the Bamboo Forest of the Lost for centuries, I have heard about a ghostly lady that could kill people with her thoughts and another one who's a half-ghost and owns 2 legendary swords. Not sure about their names, tho.."
-
>"I believe we have met. The one with the swords is Youmu Konpaku and the other one, Yuyuko Saigyouji..."
>"Indeed this looks like trouble in the netherworld... Would you wish to accompany me to check it out?"
-
>"I believe we have met. The one with the swords is Youmu Konpaku and the other one, Yuyuko Saigyouji..."
>"Indeed this looks like trouble in the netherworld... Would you wish to accompany me to check it out?"
>"Ah, yes, those were the names I was looking for..."
>"Huh? You wanna go beat 'em up? Sure!"
-
>On our way to the Netherworld... we did this before, we know how. lead Mokou.
-
> Say something really, really insulting about Kaguya so Mokou likes you better. Of course, do so elegantly.
-
>On our way to the Netherworld... we did this before, we know how. lead Mokou.
>You lead the way. It's quite a ways though, but you made a lot of wrong turns the first time around. This time, you can just fly straight to the Gate.
>Mokou follows you.
>Somewhere along the way, you subtly mention Kaguya and her foolish love of 'video games'.
>Mokou snickers!
-
>brushes teeth
>takes of ''bra''
>attacks intruders
>gets ready for-
SAKUYA!!!!
>Good god
-
>brushes teeth
>takes of ''bra''
>attacks intruders
>gets ready for-
SAKUYA!!!!
>Good god
>Again, I'm just going to disregard it. This is a game topic, not a random spamming topic. That would've been funny 6 pages ago.
-
> At the gate, scrounge around for edible items to recover stamina before flying over.
> Offer some to Mokou, since she rarely prepares much of anything for herself when she's not selling yakitori.
-
> At the gate, scrounge around for edible items to recover stamina before flying over.
> Offer some to Mokou, since she rarely prepares much of anything for herself when she's not selling yakitori.
>You make your way to the Phantom Gate. You see the Prismriver Mansion before it, with a large stage in the backyard.
>You don't immediately see any food, but there should be some in the Mansion. It does look creepy, but you're pretty experienced and so it doesn't really matter...
-
> Ask the Prisimrivers about Remilia. They travel all over Gensokyo giving concerts after all, so they might know something.
>Also ask them if they have any snacks to spare.
-
> Ask the Prisimrivers about Remilia. They travel all over Gensokyo giving concerts after all, so they might know something.
>Also ask them if they have any snacks to spare.
>It's getting to be evening now.. You're kinda hungry..
>You go towards the mansion, and Mokou asks you:"Are we going in there? That spooky mansion? You know I'm not a ghost, right? Oh well, we need a place to stay either way. I'd love to sleep in a bed for the first time in some centuries..."
>You walk towards the door, when you see a note pasted on it. It says:"We're out on tour! We'll be back in the morning! Feel free to use the house while we're away, but no dogs are allowed~ (That includes you, Sakuya-san!)"
>Do you want to enter anyways?
-
>"You didn't sleep in a bed for centuries?"
>Sigh at the sign
>Enter anyways
-
>"Nuh-uh.. I usually just find a comfortable bamboostalk (Is that the correct word) and sleep for a while.. Not that I have anything to do.. It's actually kinda refreshing, going out and fighting ghosts!"
>Mokou really seems quite exhilarated!
>You sigh, but enter anyways
>You take a moment to look at the house. It's actually quite nice! It has stairs at both sides that are leading up, and a hallway underneath them.
-
>My gods, Mokou's uncivilized!
And damn, she's a turn on
>"Well, I'm a head maid"
>Explore the hallway first. If nothing worth attention, try upstairs
-
>I really see Mokou as a sort of rough-tough biker lady, or something similiar.
>"I've heard of that... So, you know a lot about mansion, don't ya?"
>You walk into the hallway. It's quite a long hallway, with a lot of rooms left and right. You assume they're mostly bedrooms...
>You hear a light humming from the end of the corridor..
-
>I really see Mokou as a sort of rough-tough biker lady, or something similiar.
duuude. She's my dream girl <3 a bit different, but do as you wish, it's your game. We're havin' fun.
>"I know a lot about cleaning, serving food and knife throwing. Everything a real maid those."
>I HEAR a light? magic! go to that light
-
>"I s'pose.."
>You HEAR a light HUMMING.. It does sound kind of eerie, though!
>You walk to the end of the hallway
>There's a quite large kitchen here, and a lady with long green hair is washing some dishes. She doesn't seem to notice you and keeps on humming
-
> Elegantly approach the lady
> "Hello~"
> Proceed to raep.
-
> Elegantly approach the lady
> "Hello~"
> Proceed to raep.
>You elegantly approach the lady
>"Oh? A visitor? Why didn't you just ring the doorbell, then? Or did I forget to fix it once again? No matter, welcome! I'm Layla, the lady of the house."
-
> "I see. Thank you for your kind welcome. May we, perchance, have some snacks, in exchange for doing a little housework?"
-
> "I see. Thank you for your kind welcome. May we, perchance, have some snacks, in exchange for doing a little housework?"
>"Oh, what kind words to hear from a visitor. I had yet to have a visitor of your caliber in our mansion."
>"Oh, you're even willing to work for it? How kind of you. You seem quite maid-like. Do you or your lesser companion know how to clean?"
>Mokou grunts angrily. Layla obviously doesn't like her kind of people..
>"At any rate, I'll prepare some snacks. You can use the third bedroom on your left."
-
> "I thank you very much."
> Come to think of it, does Mokou know how to clean? You decide to ask her as tactfully as possible.
-
> "I thank you very much."
> Come to think of it, does Mokou know how to clean? You decide to ask her as tactfully as possible.
>"You're welcome."
>You go towards the bedroom
>On the way, you ask Mokou:"Have the centuries of loneliness perhaps also allowed you to learn cleaning?"
>She smirks.. "Not really.. I haven't been inside a house for a long time, either!"
>She adds:"And you don't have to ask it that pseudo-subtly either! I knew you were going to ask it anyways, so why bother?"
>You make your way to the bedroom, and find a small room with only one big bed in there, along with a large wardrobe and another door that presumably leads to a bathroom.
-
> Check inventory
> Test the bed. Bouncy ones are always best!
> Take a short nap before getting to work.
-
> Check inventory
> Test the bed. Bouncy ones are always best!
> Take a short nap before getting to work.
>Inventory:
>Knive set:
A set of about 20 knives. You took this from the SDM kitchen.
>Folding chair
You took this from the SDM storage.
>Icicle shards x 10
You gathered these during the fight between Cirno and Star Sapphire. You can use them instead of knives. They might also have extra properties
>You launch yourself onto the bed... only to find an aching pain in your back... Guess this mansion isn't so perfect after all...
>Mokou snickers once more
>You tell Mokou you want to sleep for a bit, and she says:"Eeh, sure! Buut, would you mind getting into your evening clothes in the bathroom? I'd like to have some privacy and I don't really like water..."
-
>"No way, lady. You will take a bath right now."
>"I beg your pardon, but hygiene is a very important part of a woman's life. You're going with me. it's for your own good"
>Drag her with me into the bathroom.
>"And there's nothing to be shy about. we both have the same assets, if you know what I mean"
Time for a very nice scene :3
-
>"No way, lady. You will take a bath right now."
>"I beg your pardon, but hygiene is a very important part of a woman's life. You're going with me. it's for your own good"
>Drag her with me into the bathroom.
>"And there's nothing to be shy about. we both have the same assets, if you know what I mean"
Time for a very nice scene :3c
>"Whuh?" Mokou says
>"I am not sure you heard me.. I don't take water well!"
>You drag her into the bathroom, but she's struggling! She's quite strong!
>"That's not the actual problem.. UGH!"
>You undress her after opening the bath valve. It takes you a while because she's still struggling.
>Wow.. Beyond the obvious layer of filth, she looks really nice...
>Inevitably, you blush. So does Mokou!
>You manage to push her into the bath, accidentily touching her once or twice in the process.
>When she falls into the tub, she screams:"UGH!"
>Suddenly, she starts burning up! You scream in pain!
>Mokou is burning, and all the water in the bath evaporates.
>Then, she screams:"I TOLD YOU, I DON'T TAKE WATER WELL!"
>You hear a voice from somewhere:"PLEASE, LADIES, CALM DOWN! I CAN'T EVEN HEAR MYSELF HUMMING ANYMORE!"
-
>Back off.
>"Silly excuses."
>"What are you, made of fire?"
What the fuck....
-
>...Would time stop help us wash her? So we wouldn't get burned or something...
>...Blush at the thought of washing her.
-
> Maybe a shower would've been a better idea...
-
>...Would time stop help us wash her? So we wouldn't get burned or something...
>...Blush at the thought of washing her.
That's brilliant!
>Stop time and wash the naughty girl.
-
>Well, they DO say 'If you play with fire, you'll get burned', don't they?
>Mokou seems to have calmed down..
>"Coincidentally, my body is partly phoenix. They turn into ashes when in water.. The same would happen to me, but it'd take longer"
>You blush at the thought of washing her, then you realise you were already going to do that, and then you blush even more. Mokou sees you're blushing and starts blushing too!
>You don't think a shower would make any difference, but if you're gonna stop time, that could make it easier.
>After this ... event, you think you'll want to ask Mokou for permission first. Or is this more a time for spontanity? You're not sure....
-
> It's best to ask first, but you have a feeling that the awkward moments will come anyway.
-
> You decide you'll ask first, and just let it happen :3c
>You ask Mokou if you can shower her while stopping time
>"Oh? You can do that? That might work.... Maybe you're right and I should shower?"
>She turns around, and you see her back... You look away quickly!
>"... Please stop doing that!" Mokou says.. "It makes us both be shy... It's not that weird, is it? There's only 1 guy in all of Gensokyo, right?"
-
>"Y-Your right..."
>...To avoid getting our cloths wet... You know what to do.
-
>"Y-Your right..."
>...To avoid getting our cloths wet... You know what to do.
>You don't mean... !?
>Hmm....
>Really...
>Eehh...
>Well...
>You decide to do it anyways.
-
> Stop time and wash Mokou up, blushing every time you get certain...assets.
> Consider asking her to return the favor.
> Blush at the idea
-
>Look around for Tengu.
>Or minions of Patchouli >=|
Neko: A bit of advice to make things more interesting for everyone involved: Instead of entering stuff like >Insult Kaguya, actually come up with some dialogue and input that instead. A bunch of bland generic commands are boring for others to read, and generally less fun to parse rather than actual speech.
-
Ah, thanks. I'll take it into consideration. I'm kinda new at this, y'know. :derp:
-
> Stop time and wash Mokou up, blushing every time you get certain...assets.
> Consider asking her to return the favor.
> Blush at the idea
>I agree with Purv, honestly, but his commands do not make sense.. At least, I don't suppose you want her to check Mokou's body for either of those.
>You stop time and wash Mokou, slowly yet steadily....
>It would be hard for her to return the favour while frozen in time...
>You blush anyways.
-
>Check the surroundings, that is. The last thing we need is this sort of scene getting out into public.
-
>Check the surroundings, that is. The last thing we need is this sort of scene getting out into public.
>Ah, that IS true...
>You blush again, then look around the bathroom.
>It has one open window, and the door is closed.
-
>How much of our power is this eating up?
>Ponder that we more or less just took advantage of Mokou...
-
>How much of our power is this eating up?
>Ponder that we more or less just took advantage of Mokou...
>It's slowly draining your power, but you think you'll be fine. You'll need to eat a meal in the near future, though.
>Advantage? We're just helping her become clean once more.. Everything else was unplanned!
-
>Clean her up in many places. now, now, we don't want her dirty
>:D
-
>Clean her up in many places. now, now, we don't want her dirty
>:D
>You wash her up completely.
>After a few more minutes, the lady calls:"Miss Sakuya, I've made dinner! Are you coming?"
-
>"Coming!"
>Look at Mokou. How is she?
-
>Mokou looks a lot cleaner now. You're pretty proud of yourself, since you don't actually clean people often..
>You dry her up, and carefully re-envoke the flow of time.
>"Make it quick!" Layla says.
-
>"You're all done now."
>Proceed to reequipping pads.
-
>Wait.
>If time was stopped, how is this Layla person still moving around?
-
>"Uh... Thanks, Sakuya!" Mokou says
>What pads? Mokou wasn't wearing pads, was she?
>Oh!? That is curious indeed!
-
> "You're welcome."
> Make a mental note to investigate a bit more about this lady.
> "We should get dressed now. Dinner's ready."
-
>Make sure to keep a couple of knives in easy reach, though also out of sight. If she can move around in frozen time, she is dangerous. No hostile moves, yet. But be elegantly and discreetly wary.
>_
-
> "You're welcome."
> Make a mental note to investigate a bit more about this lady.
> "We should get dressed now. Dinner's ready."
>Mental note noted.
>"Oh? I didn't hear her calling..."
>You're keeping your set of knives in your pocket.
>You get dressed, and so does Mokou.
-
>How does Mokou seem to be taking her whole post-cleaning realization?
>Once dressed, follow that voice!
-
>How does Mokou seem to be taking her whole post-cleaning realization?
>Once dressed, follow that voice!
>She hasn't really realized what happened yet.. Well, that often happens when time is stopped..
>Once you're both dressed, you proceed to the kitchen.
>Layla sees you, smiles and says:"Ah, you're done. What was all that screaming about? Did you guys get comfy or something?"
-
>"We had a small disagreement on the nature of etiquette, which was resolved satisfactorily. My apologies for the disturbance."
>Glance around. Let our years of experience evaluate this kitchen.
-
>"We had a small disagreement on the nature of etiquette, which was resolved satisfactorily. My apologies for the disturbance."
>Glance around. Let our years of experience evaluate this kitchen.
>"Oh, it's all right, madam... What was your name again?"
>You look around the kitchen. There's a large sink, on which there's a cleaning rack and some plates. There's all sorts of cupboards under the sink, too. To the right, the room broadens, and there's a long table for about 12 people. It's more or less square. To the left, there's a small hallway, that probably leads to the garden. There's also a broom closet that way.
-
>"I am Sakuya Izayoi."
>Let Layla lead as needs be.
-
>"Where do you think your sisters are now?"
3... 2... 1...
-
>"I am Sakuya Izayoi."
>Let Layla lead as needs be.
>"Ah. So you were the one that defeated Miss Yuyuko?"
>She walks over to the sink, and floats through the wall to the garden!
>"My sisters?" you hear from the other side of the wall. "They're still out partying, probably. They usually don't get back before morning."
-
>"Sorry, but I, uh... can't fly by walls like you do"
-
>Pretend to prepare to walk through the wall, then as your foot touches it, stop time and run outside. This should result in an astonished Mokou.
>"Yes, it was I. Where did you get these flowers?"
-
>Pretend to prepare to walk through the wall, then as your foot touches it, stop time and run outside. This should result in an astonished Mokou.
>"Yes, it was I. Where did you get these flowers?"
>You decide to impress Mokou with your amazing powers.
>You stop time, and find that Layla is once again not affected. "Oh? You're trying to trick your friend, aren't you? Naughty maid ;) "
>You go outside, re-envoke time and see Mokou's jaw dropping. All you hear is:"Eh~?"
>"Oh. You must be quite the youkai then, for to be able to change her mind.." she says, as if the other words were never spoken.
>"These flowers are from Miss Yuyuko's garden. They're quite pretty, don't you say?"
-
> "They're lovely."
> Curiosity may have killed the cat, but the cat didn't have knives.
> "How is it that my power doesn't affect you?"
-
>Be ready to dodge if our inelegant directness should provoke issues.
-
> "They're lovely."
> Curiosity may have killed the cat, but the cat didn't have knives.
> "How is it that my power doesn't affect you?"
>"Thank you"
>That saying wasn't based on nekomata, though!
>"Oh, so you've finally noticed?" She laughs. "You've fought Yuyuko, right? You should know ghosts are timeless!"
-
>Did Yuyuko also ignore our time bastardry?
>Does Layla seem like any of the ghosts we saw during out trip to Hakugyokurou, or during the flower incident?
-
>Did Yuyuko also ignore our time bastardry?
>Does Layla seem like any of the ghosts we saw during out trip to Hakugyokurou, or during the flower incident?
>She might've played along.. It sounds like the kind of thing she'd do.
>No, you've never seen her before...
-
>It's obvious we've not seen Layla before. But does she seem to be at all similar to the ghosts we've met in the past, or does she seem to be a unique subclass of ghost?
>In fact, did the ghosts during the flower incident ignore our time stuffs?
-
>It's obvious we've not seen Layla before. But does she seem to be at all similar to the ghosts we've met in the past, or does she seem to be a unique subclass of ghost?
>In fact, did the ghosts during the flower incident ignore our time stuffs?
>She does seem special, in a way. She's more or less in control of everything that is happening, like Yuyuko and Youmu. Perhaps she's quite old?
>No, they didn't... You suppose it's a trait that only some ghosts have..
-
>"In my experience, most ghosts seem to be affected normally, as did Lady Saigyouji. Perhaps it is less that ghosts are timeless, and more that you are particularly interesting?"
-
>"In my experience, most ghosts seem to be affected normally, as did Lady Saigyouji. Perhaps it is less that ghosts are timeless, and more that you are particularly interesting?"
>"Ohoho? She did? Well, if you really want to find out, there's only one way, is there?"
-
>"I suppose so, but, let's have dinner first, shall we?"
>Drop the time freeze.
-
>"I suppose so, but, let's have dinner first, shall we?"
>Drop the time freeze.
>"Oh? Backing off, are we?"
>The time freeze has stopped some time ago. Mokou has just been busy being astonished, managed to get outside and is now just listening to this conversation.
-
>"After we dine."
-
>"After we dine."
>"That's okay. I can wait."
>She leads you further into the garden, where another large table is placed. On it are plates with all sorts of food. Even though they're dead, most ghosts still like eating!
>You smell something.. odd, coming from the wine.
-
>Try to identify the odor. If we cannot, have a seek, and sniff at the wine as though we were a connoiseur.
>Do we know of Mokou's eternality enough to know she shouldn't have to worry about poisons?
-
>Try to identify the odor. If we cannot, have a seek, and sniff at the wine as though we were a connoiseur.
>Do we know of Mokou's eternality enough to know she shouldn't have to worry about poisons?
>You take a quick whiff. Layla doesn't seem to notice. It's not a familiar one, but you're pretty sure it's poisoned. It's probably from Yuyuko's garden.
>All you know is she cannot die, but can feel pain. Being poisoned can be very painful, but you don't want to find out, do you?
-
>"Hmmm, what is this? I don't quite recognize the odor."
-
> Maybe you should ask where to get some to take back to Remilia. After all, the mistress is fond of poisonous drinks. It would be a pleasant welcome home gift once we find her.
-
>"Hmmm, what is this? I don't quite recognize the odor."
>"That's the wine. It was made from a specific plant from Hakugyokurou." Layla says. "It's too bad you already noticed it was poisoned.."
>Mokou quickly spits out her wine.
>You ask her if you could have some for your Mistress.
>"Oh? You have a mistress who drinks poisonous beverages? I'd love to meet her. Let's trade, shall we?"
-
>"So, would you kindly explain why you're trying to poison us?"
-
>"So, would you kindly explain why you're trying to poison us?"
>"I wanted to test you, and you've cleared it. I wouldn't want random youkai sleeping in my mansion, now would I?"
-
> "That does make sense."
> The food's starting to get cold after so much talk. We should dig in.
> Display all you know about table etiquette while you're at it.
-
> "That does make sense."
> The food's starting to get cold after so much talk. We should dig in.
> Display all you know about table etiquette while you're at it.
>That's true.. You're quite hungry, so you start eating. You start with some amuses (very small portions of food), then you have some bunny-ear soup.
>You display your etiquette to show your elitism.
>Mokou seems to have recovered from the shock, because she asks:"Sakuya-san? Are you a ghost too? I don't mind, of course, but I would've liked to know that beforehand!"
-
>"No, I am quite human. Let's just say I am special and leave it at that."
>How well known is our time bastardry?
>Complete the meal. How is Layla doing?
-
> Also, check how much stamina we currently have.
-
>"No, I am quite human. Let's just say I am special and leave it at that."
>How well known is our time bastardry?
>Complete the meal. How is Layla doing?
>"Oh...". Mokou seems disappointed..
>You try to keep the secret in bounds, but since Aya discovered it, it's common knowledge. But since Mokou has always been living in the Forest, she wouldn't know..
>You finish your meal. The main course is fried sparrow.. It couldn't be..?
>Layla seems to be taking it easy. It looks like she's used to these kinds of antics.
>Your stamina has risen to 85 %.
-
>"I presume it is not typically so peaceful around here?"
>Ponder what sort of after dinner entertainment she mind have planned, based on what we've seen around the house.
-
> Stop time and ask if the poison wears off eventually and reveals that the wine might taste good.
> Resume time and pop in breath mints if Layla has any on the table. You could use the extra sugar.
> During whatever show or tour Layla has planned, casually ask for hints as to where Remilia might have been, in case Layla has seen her.
-
Is there a need to stop time to ask that? It's not as though it's a big secret now.
Also, it's better to write actual dialogue when asking things. Makes things more interesting to read and to parse.
-
>"I presume it is not typically so peaceful around here?"
>Ponder what sort of after dinner entertainment she mind have planned, based on what we've seen around the house.
>"It depends on what you find peaceful. Ghosts aren't very peaceful by nature, but it's relatively busy in spring."
>You haven't really explored the house much. There's the stage over yonder in the garden, though.
>"It will wear off eventually, if you have ghostlike patience."
>You nip one of the breath mints. Your stamina is now 85.5 %
>"Remilia? Is that your mistress' name? What's she like?"
-
> "Well, to begin with, she is a vampire. She's very active during the night."
> Elaborate in detail about your beloved Ojou-sama's charismatic greatness.
-
> "Well, to begin with, she is a vampire. She's very active during the night."
> Elaborate in detail about your beloved Ojou-sama's charismatic greatness.
>"Oh, that sounds nice! Continue!"
>She seems genuinely interested... It's kinda creepy..
>You talk a lot about your beloved Ojou-sama and her charismatic greatness, whatever that means.
>Layla asks:"So, your mistress likes poisoned beverages too? Might you have anything to trade for it?"
-
>"Poisoned... beverages? Not quite, she enjoys red wine"
-
>"Though, I have brewed her some questionable teas in the past on her request..."
-
>"Poisoned... beverages? Not quite, she enjoys red wine"
>"Though, I have brewed her some questionable teas in the past on her request..."
>"Well, a poisoned wine should be a new experience, then.. Where is she, anyways? I'd love to meet her!"
-
>"You haven't see her? Oh, well..."
-
>"You haven't see her? Oh, well..."
>"Should I have? Were you looking for her?"
>Mokou suddenly joins in:"Were you? I thought we were going to beat up Yuyuko because of all the ghosts in the village.. Can you tell me what's going on?"
-
>"As long as both of you promise that what I tell shall remain a secret"
-
>"As long as both of you promise that what I tell shall remain a secret"
>"Well then, I think I can agree with that." Layla says
>Mokou nods.
-
>"I'm searching for Mistress.... She went off without telling me where and I'm worried sick... I wouldn't want this information to get to be known by too many people"
-
>"I'm searching for Mistress.... She went off without telling me where and I'm worried sick... I wouldn't want this information to get to be known by too many people"
>"Oh.. That's too bad. But.. you were planning to attack Yuyuko?" Layla says, very slowly. She looks irritated.
>Mokou says:"Yeah, that was kind of the whole reason we went here. I guess Sakuya-san was looking for Remilia too..."
-
>"I was. Spirits attacked the human village, it seemed probable that Yuyuko might be up to something yet again. I was hoping Remilia-ojou-sama went after her perhaps..."
-
>"I was. Spirits attacked the human village, it seemed probable that Yuyuko might be up to something yet again. I was hoping Remilia-ojou-sama went after her perhaps..."
>"Say that ONCE AGAIN and I will..!" Layla says. She's angry now!
-
>"Then may I ask your thoughts on this quandary?"
-
>"Then may I ask your thoughts on this quandary?"
>"It would certainly not be acceptable of you to just go barging in in Hakugyokurou and beating up poor Miss Yuyuko just because some spirits have attacked a village, now would it? Fortunately for you, I could arrange an audience." Layla says
-
>"I would say it would be very acceptable to do so, given she has clearly failed at her task of keeping the spirits under control and they have become a problem. But, an audience will do."
-
>"I would say it would be very acceptable to do so, given she has clearly failed at her task of keeping the spirits under control and they have become a problem. But, an audience will do."
>"She's not the only one who controls ghosts..." Layla says
(Is it just me or is this reminding me of something..?)
>"Anyways, it's getting late for you, I guess. Sleep as much as you need to, though be wary of my sisters... They tend to randomly show up in the guest rooms.. Don't say I didn't warn you..."
-
>"Inform them to be wary of us, as well."
>Back to the rooms.Give them a quick investigation for other "surprises" and "tests" akin to the poison in the wine.
-
>"Inform them to be wary of us, as well."
>Back to the rooms.Give them a quick investigation for other "surprises" and "tests" akin to the poison in the wine.
>"I'll be sure to do that."
>You go to the room, to find... nothing's changed... Well, even though ghosts are immune to timefreezing shenanigans, they aren't able to stop time themselves.. Are they?
>Mokou follows you, and says:"Well, I'm actually kinda tired now... Let's try to get some sleep and store our power for the morrow.".
>She yawns.
-
>"Alright. Do be ready to burn someone upon waking and hearing odd noises."
>Go through pre-sleep preparations, in private in necessary, then get some shut eye.
-
>"Alright. Do be ready to burn someone upon waking and hearing odd noises."
>Go through pre-sleep preparations, in private in necessary, then get some shut eye.
>"Sure thing!" Mokou says
>You get into your sleeping gown. Mokou doesn't seem to have one, so you lend her one
>You get into bed and quickly fall asleep.
>Suddenly, you hear a loud trumpet and people laughing!
>"Ah, we have some guests, don't we? The dog of the devil and her fiery friend?"
>You recognize the voice as Merlin's.
-
>Throw a knife in the voice's direction.
-
>
throw a voice in the knifes direction
>Calm yourself. We dont want more trouble then needed.
-
>Throw a knife in the voice's direction.
>throw a voice in the knifes direction
>Calm yourself. We dont want more trouble then needed.
>You shout in the knife's direction, which is your pocket.
>No one ever died from a single knife, did they? Well, unless they are human, of course...
>You throw a knife in the voice's direction. It's followed by a loud "WOAH!"
-
>
"Hey there, null-pointer."
> Rouse Mokou.
> "Hey, it's Kaguya! She's talking about how much of a hobo you are!"
-
>Don't rouse Mokou.
>Go back to sleep, they were warned.
-
>Don't rouse Mokou.
>Go back to sleep, they were warned.
>Rousing someone isn't very lady-like, now is it?
>You try to go back to sleep, but the band keeps on playing.
>Another voice, Lunasa's, says:"Oh? The hellhound doesn't want to play?"
-
>Mumble: "I'll play with you in the morning, go away..."
>Did they ever show an immunity to time stopping?
-
>Mumble: "I'll play with you in the morning, go away..."
>Did they ever show an immunity to time stopping?
>"That's a deal!" Lyrica says.
>No, they didn't.
-
>Does the noise seem to be ceasing?
>If so, go back to sleep.
-
>Does the noise seem to be ceasing?
>If so, go back to sleep.
>They seem to have left...
>You go back to sleep. Mokou seems to have slept through all of this..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>You wake up the next morning by another trumpet!
-
>Groan.
>How rested do we feel?
>How early in the morning is it? Is there more than a hint of sunrise?
-
>Groan.
>How rested do we feel?
>How early in the morning is it? Is there more than a hint of sunrise?
>Ugh... Not again!
>You had a good night's sleep. Your stamina is now 95 % once more
>You're kinda grouchy because of the trumpets, though...
>The sun hasn't quite come up yet, but you can see a glimmer of light rising up over the horizon.
-
> "Officer Sakuya, reporting for duty! How may I fleece you?"
> Salute. Mockingly.
-
> "Officer Sakuya, reporting for duty! How may I fleece you?"
> Salute. Mockingly.
>You salute in the most mocking way imaginable. They seem to notice it.
>"Fleece me? What's with the colloquialism?" Merlin says
-
>Are they actually in the room?
>How's Mokou doing?
Fleece?
-
>Are they actually in the room?
>How's Mokou doing?
Fleece?
>Yes, they are. They're floating around the bed.
>You look at Mokou to find.. she's still asleep? How did she..?
The meaning of the verb 'to fleece' escapes me too..
(Also, what's with the non-surprising surprising umbrellas popping up everywhere? It's kinda creepy..)
-
>Sit up, remove self from bed. Smooth out nightgown.
>"May I have a few moments to wash up and get dressed, please?"
>What sort of bedhead does Sakuya manifest, anyways?
-
(Fleece = scam, basically)
> If they keep insulting you, start randomly replacing your words with "WOOF!" and spray them with saliva until after you've fixed yourself up.
> After you "recover" your sentience, say that it's what happens when someone disturbs her sleep.
> Ask for a glass of water. See if they have any tricks up their sleeve.
-
>Let's act a bit more elegantly instead, and not spit insults.
-
Dude. You know I'm talking about you. Have Sakuya act like Sakuya. a freakin' perfect elegant maid. In the words "perfect" and "elegant" there's no place for being an ass of a maid or some such. the rude part stopped being funny a little while ago.
Thanks for cooperation.
-
Sakuya can be an ass and be rude. But there's a style to it. Just spitting naked insults and threats and such really aren't her thing. Sakuya is more the subtle play on words kind of insulting; until it's business time and boss fights are happening.
-
Indeed.
Carry on
-
>Sit up, remove self from bed. Smooth out nightgown.
>"May I have a few moments to wash up and get dressed, please?"
>What sort of bedhead does Sakuya manifest, anyways?
(I agree with purv honestly, so I'll just be skipping Kogasa's plans)
>You sit up, and smooth out your nightgown. Not that it was that unsmooth in the first place, but just because
>"Oh... Okay then!" Lunasa says.
>You usually spend some time (well, not actually time in the literal meaning) to get your hair done.
-
>Well, no need to drain ourselves with time-stopped styling. And it's not as though we're in a hurry to please people who wake us up in the middle of the night.
>As such, take all the time we need getting ready to face the day.
-
> Check on Mokou. Is she awake?
>> If so, get her prepped and go downstairs for breakfast.
>> If not, just sit around until she does; apparently, no amount of noise will wake her up.
-
>Well, no need to drain ourselves with time-stopped styling. And it's not as though we're in a hurry to please people who wake us up in the middle of the night.
>As such, take all the time we need getting ready to face the day.
>That is completely correct.
>You take your time in the bathroom to get your hair done. You take extra long care, because your hair was more messed up than usual.
> Check on Mokou. Is she awake?
>> If so, get her prepped and go downstairs for breakfast.
>> If not, just sit around until she does; apparently, no amount of noise will wake her up.
>When you get back, Mokou has woken up. She still looks kinda sleepy.
>"ohhitheresakuyahow'dyousleep?" Mokou mutters.
-
>"Intermittently."
>Are the poltergeisty Musicians about?
>If so: "So, shall we expect breakfast shortly?"
-
>"Intermittently."
>Are the poltergeisty Musicians about?
>If so: "So, shall we expect breakfast shortly?"
>"Whu? whaddoesdatmean?"
>No, they've left since you went to the bathroom.
>Mokou gets up while sighing.
>"Uh, yeah, probably! I'm quite hungry! I wonder what she'll have in store this time around..."
-
>"Well, get yourself ready, and we'll see what awaits us."
-
>"Well, get yourself ready, and we'll see what awaits us."
>"Erm.. sure!"
>Mokou gets dressed in her flameretardant pants and pale shirt. Her clothes look like what Remilia wore over a 1000 years ago..
>"So, let's go then!" Mokou says, after being finished. She hasn't done anything with her hair..
-
>"We aren't in that much of a hurry, you can take time to fix up your hair."
-
>"We aren't in that much of a hurry, you can take time to fix up your hair."
>"Fix up my hair? Wow, it's been a real long time since I did that... Well, anyways, I can't do it myself; back then I had a maid do that for me.."
>Fiery girls are remeniscing, please wait warmly~
> What are you doing inside your bed?
>Not what you're thinking >_<
>No, there's no neighbours next to your house. It wouldn't fit, anyways. Your house is almost half the size of the Emperor's Palace!
-
>Well, we're also the daughter of someone well to do. There's gotta be courtly training and proper educations and stuff.
>Get up, go through morning routine; dressing self or having servants do it as needs be. Consider if there's anything we need to do today.
>Contemplate key people we know.
-
>Well, we're also the daughter of someone well to do. There's gotta be courtly training and proper educations and stuff.
>Get up, go through morning routine; dressing self or having servants do it as needs be. Consider if there's anything we need to do today.
>Contemplate key people we know.
>Yeah, there is... if you really want to. You hate learning and all that needless stuff. You'd much rather roam through the city.
>You get up, and ring the bell. Four maids enter your room and start to get you dressed. One undresses and dresses you, another tries to make something out of the hair you have, while another is clipping your toe and handnails. The last one is cleaning up your room, which?ll probably take a while.
>You don't really have anything to do. You could go visit your mother, who had to leave the mansion to live in the commoner's quarters.
>Well..
-You know your father, who is a well-known merchant and a counsel to the Emperor.
-You've seen the Emperor himself once or twice when he visited your father.
-You've heard the rumors about Kaguya, too.
-
>Consider visiting the city, do we have any places we could go where we stand a chance learning more about this Kaguya character?
>Can we just leave and do that, or would we have to sneak out?
>Regardless, once we're presentable, go eat. ...And maybe flirt with one of the maids, if any are interesting, while being dressed up.
-
>Consider visiting the city, do we have any places we could go where we stand a chance learning more about this Kaguya character?
>Can we just leave and do that, or would we have to sneak out?
>Regardless, once we're presentable, go eat. ...And maybe flirt with one of the maids, if any are interesting, while being dressed up.
>Well, there's some places:
-Your mom's house in the commoner's quarters. Your dad doesn't really like that you still visit her, but you don't care; it's your mother, after all!
-You're also welcome in the Emperor's Palace. The Emperor himself has taken quite a liking to you
-You could also just roam around, jumping from rooftop to rooftop and running through shady corridors like you usually do.
>You would have to sneak out. Your room is on the first floor and maids guard your room at all times, but there's a large climbable bamboo stalk right next to one of the windows.
>Well, eating sounds good! You're quite hungry.
>Flirt with the maids? Why would you do that? There's goodlooking guys everywhere! This is the capital of Japan!
>You leave your room, smile at the maids and walk down to the dinner room. The food's already on the table, some fried fish...But where's your father?
-
>"Father's not going to show up, is he?"
-
>"Father's not going to show up, is he?"
>One of the maids that are preparing the food, says:"Your father? He went on a quest for Kaguya's hand. You should've remembered that, young lady!"
>Ooh, right.. Guess you got a case of nightmare-induced amnesia...
>Your sister, Otori, walks into the room. "Morning, big sister!" she says.
-
>If we ignore that we just made an ass of ourselves, no one will notice!
>"Morning, Orochi."
>Gotta have an embarrassing nickname for sis.
>What do we know about her, anyways?
>Begin breakfasts!
-
>If we ignore that we just made an ass of ourselves, no one will notice!
>"Morning, Orochi."
>Gotta have an embarrassing nickname for sis.
>What do we know about her, anyways?
>Begin breakfasts!
>Did we?
>"That's not my name!" Otori says.
>You snicker.
>Not much.. She's not actually your sister, she has another mother. She's a few years younger than you.
>You start eating your fish. It's delicious!
-
>Do we have any other siblings?
>"No, you just sound like it should be your name. So, what've you got planned for today?"
-
>Do we have any other siblings?
>"No, you just sound like it should be your name. So, what've you got planned for today?"
>Probably. Your dad wasn't very careful when he was young, as you've heard.
>"Huh? Oh, I'm heading to the beach with my mom. Would you like to join us?"
-
>Are we regarded as legitimate? Would this make us future head of the house? Presuming no male heirs, that is.
>"Maybe later. Thinking about trying to find out some stuff about that woman Father's been interested in. Since we're going to have to deal with her, might as well figure out what to expect."
-
> Head back to room, change into suitable clothes for outdoor exploration
> Climb down bamboo stalk outside your window.
-
>Are we regarded as legitimate? Would this make us future head of the house? Presuming no male heirs, that is.
>"Maybe later. Thinking about trying to find out some stuff about that woman Father's been interested in. Since we're going to have to deal with her, might as well figure out what to expect."
>You do have an older brother, but he left home when he turned 18. You'd think that makes you the future heir.
>"Okay! Tell me all about what you find out when you get back!"
> Head back to room, change into suitable clothes for outdoor exploration
> Climb down bamboo stalk outside your window.
>You couldn't go exploring in THESE clothes, now could you. You dress into something casual. If the maids knew you were doing this... But you don't care.
>You climb down the bamboo stalk without any trouble. You can now go:
-East to the main entrance (though you'd be spotted)
-North to the Commoner's Quarters
-West to the sea.
-
>North to the commoner's quarters.
>Consider the landmarks there.
-
>North to the commoner's quarters.
>Consider the landmarks there.
>You walk northward, toward the commoner's quarters, and reach the gate seperating the two quarters. It's guarded by two guards, but they'll let you through because of your dad.
>Well, the landmarks here:
-A lot of people seem to meet at the Seperating Gate. It's not really impressively decorated or anything, but it's fairly tall.
-In the middle of the commoner's quarters, there's a small shrine with a bell in it. You never bothered to check what that's all about, tho.
-Your mother's house is in the northeastern quadrant.
-The sea is towards the northwest.
-
>Let's have a look at that Separating Gate. People meeting suggests things to be overheard.
-
>Let's have a look at that Separating Gate. People meeting suggests things to be overheard.
>It sounds more like people gossiping..
>You overhear a woman talking about the Kaguya-lady. According to her story, she was raised by a bamboo-cutter and is immortal! How preposterous!
-
>A what...?
>Does Father have a habit of chasing after commoners? Is such a thing socially acceptable?
>Roam around a bit, see if there's anything else interesting.
-
>A what...?
>Does Father have a habit of chasing after commoners? Is such a thing socially acceptable?
>Roam around a bit, see if there's anything else interesting.
>You don't have a clue..
>Well, she's not exactly a commoner, since the Emperor has let her live in his palace for the time being. But yes, he sometimes did those kinds of things, but you thought he'd be too old for girls like Kaguya now.. Well, since she's 'immortal', it might not matter?
>You roam around a bit more, when you see one of your mansion's maids heading for the gate.. Ugh.. You really don't wanna get caught now!
-
>Dagnabbit.
>Try to fade into the crowd, and escape toward town.
>If we can break away, head into town. Let's go see what's up with that shrine. Maybe people there can be asked about this situation.
>Do we know if this shrine has any business with the Palace?
-
> Is there a miko inside? Perhaps she can shed light on the subject of Kaguya's immortality.
-
>Dagnabbit.
>Try to fade into the crowd, and escape toward town.
>If we can break away, head into town. Let's go see what's up with that shrine. Maybe people there can be asked about this situation.
>Do we know if this shrine has any business with the Palace?
>You jump between some people heading through the gate. You get some looks from the locals, but the maid doesn't notice you and you manage to get a fair distance.
>Perhaps. It's a common gathering places for a lot of people, thieves and thugs too.
>With the palace? You're not sure about that. The Palace is the spiritual epitome of the aristocrats; you assume the same counts for this shrine, except then for the commoners.
>You reach the main square. You can see the shrine from here. It's a hexagonal building, and is quite high. Now that you look at it, it's more of a tower than anything, but it's purpose is still being a spiritual sanctuary. It has doors on all sides of the building, which are all open.
> Is there a miko inside? Perhaps she can shed light on the subject of Kaguya's immortality.
>There's a miko on the ground floor of thetower. You're not sure whether that's knowledge known by shrine maidens, though.
-
>Have a look at the people around for anything notable, or interesting goings on.
>Assuming nothing strikes our fancy, have a look inside.
-
>Have a look at the people around for anything notable, or interesting goings on.
>Assuming nothing strikes our fancy, have a look inside.
>There's nothing much going on here. There's just some guys fighting in a back alley, nothing interesting.
>You head inside. You see a girl in clear white robes, your age or perhaps even younger. Well, she is the miko here, so she should've heard something, at least.
>She notices you, and says:"Oh. A troubled young lady approaches.. Do you want me to exercise those spirits in your entourage?"
-
>"Spirits in my entourage?"
-
> Wipe butt with ofuda?
> If she says they're unfriendly, say yes. If she says they may be of use yet, ask about taming them.
-
>"Are you SURE I'm "troubled with spirits"?
-
>"Spirits in my entourage?"
>"Yeess, yes, you have gathered quite the following. Perhaps they've sensed you were up to no good?"
>You ask them whether they're unfriendly.
>"Disembodied spirits are never evil. I am not able to tame them, but I could exorcise them if they bother you or are made into poltergeists."
>"I did not say you were. You are being followed, though."
-
> "I wouldn't say that I was up to no good, actually..."
> Contemplate visiting Mom.
I'll be leaving the exorcism decision to someone else. :getdown:
-
> "I wouldn't say that I was up to no good, actually..."
> Contemplate visiting Mom.
I'll be leaving the exorcism decision to someone else. :getdown:
>"Nor did I insinuate such things, lady.... May I know your name?"
>You contemplate visiting your mom. She might know more..
-
>"No, you just brought it up. But we'll forget about it."
>Do we have a good made up identity for our wanderings we aren't supposed to be doing?
I'm thinking she's not convinced she needs an exorcism.
-
>"No, you just brought it up. But we'll forget about it."
>Do we have a good made up identity for our wanderings we aren't supposed to be doing?
I'm thinking she's not convinced she needs an exorcism.
>"The ghosts think so, but if you want to leave it be, we'll leave it be."
>You try to, but you've never met the miko before so she wouldn't know.
-
>"The name's Ishi, by the way. And you?"
-
>"The name's Ishi, by the way. And you?"
>"You may call me... Yakumo."
-
>Nod. Notice the pause in the naming
>Have a look around.
>"So, how many spirits I got following me? Any fun-looking ones?"
-
>"Can ya tell me what kind of spirits are following me?"
-
>Nod. Notice the pause in the naming
>Have a look around.
>"So, how many spirits I got following me? Any fun-looking ones?"
>Note noted...
>You look around the tower. On this floor, there's some cabinets with miscellanious amulets and other exorcismic stuff. There's also a ladder leading upwards.
>"Hmm.. 13, if I count correctly."
>"Can ya tell me what kind of spirits are following me?"
>"No.. Common spirits all look the same"
-
>"Neat. Hey, what's up there?"
>Point toward the ladder.
>What does our miko friend look like, anyways?
-
>"Neat. Hey, what's up there?"
>Point toward the ladder.
>What does our miko friend look like, anyways?
>You point at the ladder
>"Those are my personal quarters. I trust you to not go up there.
>The girl has long blonde hair, fairly large growths for her age and is wearing a purely white robe. She's also carrying a gohei.
-
>"Oh, right. Sorry, I thought there'd be more of up there, what with how tall the place is."
>Have a look around the shrine. Can we tell if it's dedicated to any particular deity?
-
>"Oh, right. Sorry, I thought there'd be more of up there, what with how tall the place is."
>Have a look around the shrine. Can we tell if it's dedicated to any particular deity?
>"The only other things up there are the bell... and nothing else"
>You look around the shrine once more... There's lots of common exorcism stuff, but nothing that reminds you of an actual deity.. That's odd...
-
>"Who's enshrined here, by the by? And what's special about the bell?"
>Do we have any pocket change to donate?
-
>"Who's enshrined here, by the by? And what's special about the bell?"
>Do we have any pocket change to donate?
>"The seven gods of luck are represented in this tower. The bell is luck-bringing when rang"
>"You seem quite inquisitive..." she mentions.
>You don't. You left home in a bit of a rush. You could go back and grab some, it's not too far.
-
>"Well, it's my first time here. So, how'd you end up running a place like this? You seem really young for it."
-
>"Well, it's my first time here. So, how'd you end up running a place like this? You seem really young for it."
>"I was chosen by the last miko here to be the next. I didn't have any choice."
>Surprisingly, she grins? Does she enjoy this?
-
> "Doesn't it get lonely for you? How do you get money to keep this place running and yourself well-fed?"
-
> "Doesn't it get lonely for you? How do you get money to keep this place running and yourself well-fed?"
>"I have my ways of doing that, and I'd like to keep them to myself" she says, grinning creepily.
-
So we've met what is either Yukari in disguise, or possibly Yukari before she became Yukari. Either way, I'd say we have a god-given duty to do all in our power to hit that.
>"So, who's enshrined here?"
-
So we've met what is either Yukari in disguise, or possibly Yukari before she became Yukari. Either way, I'd say we have a god-given duty to do all in our power to hit that.
>"So, who's enshrined here?"
>"I already told you that." She looks at you angrily.
-
>"Yeah, but I meant more specifically. There's a lot of gods of luck, you know. Hey, how many people come around here on average, anyways?"
-
>"Yeah, but I meant more specifically. There's a lot of gods of luck, you know. Hey, how many people come around here on average, anyways?"
>"Well, apparently you're really inquisitive. This shrine is held by Vaisravana"
>When you mention people, she looks down.
>"Not many. You're the first visitor in weeks, even.."
-
>"Awww, really? Now you're making me feel all guilty I didn't bring anything to donate. I kind of came on a whim... I'll definitely have to fix that in the future. So, you don't even have any friends that drop in?"
-
>"Awww, really? Now you're making me feel all guilty I didn't bring anything to donate. I kind of came on a whim... I'll definitely have to fix that in the future. So, you don't even have any friends that drop in?"
>"I do have some friends, but they're ... out of town right now."
-
I''m seeing no objections to our god-given duty here.
>"Where'd they run off to?"
>Pause for a moment. "In fact, you know what? Let's go get something to eat. I'll make a quick run home and get some money to treat you with."
-
>Welp, We've nothing better to do but get to make a new friend.
>"You sure you dont wanna tell me yer full name?"
-
>Pause for a moment. "In fact, you know what? Let's go get something to eat. I'll make a quick run home and get some money to treat you with."
>"They're in another country right now. I'm leaving for there again, soon."
>"Oh, you would do that? How friendly of you! May we meet soon again!"
>Welp, We've nothing better to do but get to make a new friend.
>"You sure you dont wanna tell me yer full name?"
>"I suppose it doesn't matter. My name is Yukari Yakumo. I didn't intend to hide it from you". She has a wide grin.
-
HELL YES.
> Go outside, waving goodbye as you head out.
> Hide in the shade, check for any maids.
-
HELL YES.
> Go outside, waving goodbye as you head out.
> Hide in the shade, check for any maids.
>You head outside the shrine and wave goodbye to your new friend, Yukari.
>You stay in the shades of the building for one more second to see if there are any maids there. There aren't any around right now
>"Oh, is someone looking for you?" Yukari says.
(I can't seem to get this outside of the quote.. sorry guys <_<)
[purvis]Needed to add a [/quote] at the end.
-
>"Ehhh, somewhat. I kinda just fled away from home, Wanted to see someone important to me. Status is such a bitch sometimes, if one person you care about does a little thing wrong, they get removed of their status and you get scolded just for talkin' to em."
also fuck yeah yukari
>"A bitch? Does that mean what I think it means? If it does, that's true.. But you were leaving, right?"
-
Dunno if we're supposed to talk to her more or not. I guess Mokou's mother can wait a bit.
>"Mind if I stay for a bit? I could use someone to talk to."
-
>"Mind if I stay for a bit? I could use someone to talk to."
>"I'd like that cup of tea, first. We'll talk later."
-
>"Kay."
>Where to now?
Also, tbh, I'm still kinda outta the loop with this. I gotta read back a bit.
-
Kips, if you don't know is going on, maybe you shouldn't be posting until you do? It really helps with the not screwing things up axis.
>"Yeah, I'll be back in a few minutes, and I'll explain."
>Presuming Yukari doesn't hold us back, hurry back home, evading people who would notice us as well as we can.
>If we can get there without issue, grab a decent amount of money and make out way back.
>"All right"
>You scurry back home, looking for any maids. Fortunately, you don't notice any.
-
>Head back out the same way, but make sure the coast is clear first.
>Presuming it is, back to the Shrine.
-
>Head back out the same way, but make sure the coast is clear first.
>There's nothing particular that you can see.
>You head back to the Shrine without any events.
-
>Head inside, and presuming Yukari hasn't been kidnapped by ninja, say, "Hey, sorry about the wait!"
>Should Yukari not be visible, just call that out.
>Do we know of any decent places to go?
>"No matter!" she says
>There's this famous tea house that even some aristocrats go to. It's pretty good. You think it's called 'Koucha'
-
>"So, got in places in mind? I'm thinking maybe Koucha? But I'm always open to those places that turn out to be little secrets."
-
>"I don't really know the city very well.. But I've heard good things about Koucha. Let's go there."
-
>"Ah, so you're new here."
>Let's hit up this teaplace!
>How much is a thousand yens in this era's economy, anyways? What could one buy with it?
-
>"Ah, so you're new here."
>Let's hit up this teaplace!
>"Something like that, yes"
>You head towards the teahouse. It's in the upper right corner of the commoner's quarters, near the sea.
>A cup of tea and something with it would cost you about 300 yens.
-
>So about what the modern currencies are. Helpful!
>"So, I guess I ought to come clean, first thing. I...kinda gave you a fake name. You've probably guessed why at this point, but it'd be nice if you didn't go spreading my real one around too much. I'm Mokou, of the Fujiwara Clan."
-
inb4 Yukari already knew :o
> Check menu.
> "Fancy anything on this menu, Yukari?"
-
>I sure hope that wasn't sarcasm.
>"I knew so. It was pretty obvious, but I don't mind. I've done so before myself."
inb4 Yukari already knew :o
> Check menu.
> "Fancy anything on this menu, Yukari?"
Obviously
>There's all kinds of tea on there. Strawberry is usually your favourite taste.
>"I usually prefer some alcohol, but grape tea is fine too"
-
>"Bit early to be drinking, though."
>Order the strawberry!
>"So, what's this about all your friends being elsewhere?"
-
>"Bit early to be drinking, though."
>Order the strawberry!
>"So, what's this about all your friends being elsewhere?"
>"Anytime's a drinking time for me!" she answers
>You head inside the teahouse and order a strawberry tea for yourself and a grape tea for Yukari.
>You now have 400 yens left.
>"I don't usually live 'here'. I usually live on the other side, together with Ran and Chen, my friends. They are still there.
-
> "The other side? Like what, the other side of the ocean?"
> Mentally explore possibility of her living in another dimension.
> "Ran and Chen? You guys are all named after colors?"
-
>Do we even have the mental concept of another dimension?
>Holy shit, she's from the Tang Empire!
>"I thought you weren't from around here, when you mentioned you never had any visitors. There's no way a shrine maiden as lovely as you wouldn't attract people from far and wide. So, how did you end up with the place?"
-
> "The other side? Like what, the other side of the ocean?"
> Mentally explore possibility of her living in another dimension.
> "Ran and Chen? You guys are all named after colors?"
>"Not... exactly.."
>Wow.. Alternate dimensions.. You've heard about such things, but you never thought that was actually true... That sounds quite fun!
>"Yes, we are. Quite a coincidence.."
>Do we even have the mental concept of another dimension?
>Holy shit, she's from the Tang Empire!
>"I thought you weren't from around here, when you mentioned you never had any visitors. There's no way a shrine maiden as lovely as you wouldn't attract people from far and wide. So, how did you end up with the place?"
>You've heard of the concept before, yes.
>The Tang Empire! That would explain her name...
>Yukari laughs at your words. "The shrine here has a counterpart over there. It's a gathering place for a lot of people."
-
>"Huh, interesting. Not really surprising, I guess. There's a fair deal of contact these days. We've learned a lot from the other side."
>Bloody China, kanjing up the writing system and making it difficult...
>"So, you got called over, then? Or were you just here on other business and got stuck?"
-
>"Huh, interesting. Not really surprising, I guess. There's a fair deal of contact these days. We've learned a lot from the other side."
>Bloody China, kanjing up the writing system and making it difficult...
>"So, you got called over, then? Or were you just here on other business and got stuck?"
>"That's not really the other side I meant, but whatever. Forget it."
>Darnit Chinese!
>"I can return anytime I want to, I was here to keep a watch on what's going on with the Moon Princess.
-
>"Moon princess?"
-
>"Moon princess?"
>"Oh, haven't you heard about her? I meant Kaguya."
-
>Raise an eyebrow.
>"You're going to tell me that's not just a fancy title, aren't you?"
-
>Raise an eyebrow.
>"You're going to tell me that's not just a fancy title, aren't you?"
>"I thought you would've known already. You seem like a cunning person yourself. Yes, she did come from the Moon. I believe she is having some issues with the Capital there, though. I've heard she made a forbidden potion with one of her friends and got herself banished from the Moon. She's secretly staying here now."
-
>"I've sure not heard anything about it, so she's doing a good job keeping it secret... To be honest, it's rather hard to swallow."
-
>"Heh. You should get used to that sort of thing. I've got a feeling you'll have to swallow a lot more soon.."
-
>"Damn, I rock at this dating thing."
>"Well, I expect so if that's the case. I do wonder, though, if you have anything onhand to tangibly demonstrate this? You've probably gathered it's a rather personal issue for me."
-
>Double entendres are not fun >_<
>"You'll see what I mean later. Things will take their turn once we head for the palace."
>The shop assistant brings your tea. It smells good!
-
>Give the tea all proper appreciative obsequiousences. We're a nob, we have to know how to proper appreciate it.
>"We're going to the palace, are we?'
-
>Give the tea all proper appreciative obsequiousences. We're a nob, we have to know how to proper appreciate it.
>"We're going to the palace, are we?'
>Are you serious? Well, if you want to impress Yukari..
>You sip some of your tea while trying to look smug.
>"Yes, we are. Glad you got that...."
-
>Chuckle.
>"Well, it's traditional to ask first, you know. It's not as though I declared we're going to have tea, for instance. What will we be doing at the palace, then?"
-
>Chuckle.
>"Well, it's traditional to ask first, you know. It's not as though I declared we're going to have tea, for instance. What will we be doing at the palace, then?"
>"It doesn't usually work that way over there... Things just happen, usually."
>"We'll be visiting Kaguya. I have some things I'd like to ask her."
-
>The Tang are jerks...
>Do we feel we can get Yukari into the palace with us without too much trouble?
>"Same here. I was kinda hoping to find out some things myself. More mundane then what you're talking about, though..."
-
> If we can't merely walk into the palace with Yukari in tow, consider smuggling her in through our room, possibly dressing her up and disguising her.
-
>The Tang are jerks...
>Do we feel we can get Yukari into the palace with us without too much trouble?
>"Same here. I was kinda hoping to find out some things myself. More mundane then what you're talking about, though..."
>Apparently! You're learning new things about those dang Tangs every second!
>That should be easy, her being a miko should get her in easily. If not, you can just tell the guards she's your friend and they'll probably let her through..
>Yukari grins widely.
> If we can't merely walk into the palace with Yukari in tow, consider smuggling her in through our room, possibly dressing her up and disguising her.
>You laugh at the thought of disguising Yukari and almost consider doing it just for the fun of it, but you decide not to.
-
>"Well, I suppose I can get you inside without too many issues. When are you looking to do this? And, while we finish our tea, tell me a bit about your friends?"
-
>"Well, I suppose I can get you inside without too many issues. When are you looking to do this? And, while we finish our tea, tell me a bit about your friends?"
>"After we finish our tea, I presume."
>"Ah, okay. Ran is very smart, good at maths and is very caring. Chen is light-feeted, brutal and tomboyish. I guess I'm the fabric holding them together."
-
>"It sounds like it. How'd you get mixed up with those two?"
-
>"It sounds like it. How'd you get mixed up with those two?"
>"I don't really remember anymore. It just kind of happened."
-
>Chuckle. "Wish I had someone like that."
>"I'll just have to be content with my scads of money and enormous social and political clout."
>"So what's it like on the other shore?"
-
>Chuckle. "Wish I had someone like that."
>"I'll just have to be content with my scads of money and enormous social and political clout."
>"So what's it like on the other shore?"
>Yukari grins
>"It's pretty brutal. There's some folks that might attack you if they get angry. But, I can handle it."
-
> Frown. "Sounds like a pretty savage place. Why would you even want to stay there?"
> The Tang really are jerks...
-
> Frown. "Sounds like a pretty savage place. Why would you even want to stay there?"
> The Tang really are jerks...
>"I wouldn't call it savage; that's just the way it has always been. I actually quite like it there, and a lot of my friends live there, too."
-
>"Well, yeah, I didn't mean to speak ill of your home. But that does sound like a little much for most people. So, what relation does your home and this princess have?"
-
>"Well, yeah, I didn't mean to speak ill of your home. But that does sound like a little much for most people. So, what relation does your home and this princess have?"
>"Perhaps.."
>"I was thinking about asking her to travel with me to the other side."
-
>Frown.
>"Why's that?"
-
>Frown.
>"Why's that?"
>"She seems like an interesting person. I haven't ever met anyone from the Moon myself, but I've heard they are very civilized."
-
>"Well, I suppose I could understand that as a motivation for wanting to get to know someone. Kinda a shame you don't intend to stay, though. I bet you could turn that shrine right around!"
-
>"Well, I suppose I could understand that as a motivation for wanting to get to know someone. Kinda a shame you don't intend to stay, though. I bet you could turn that shrine right around!"
>"You could join me, if you wanted to. I'd like some company!"
-
> Freeze. "... Join you... to meet the princess? Or to 'the other side'?"
-
>"Huh."
>Raise eyebrows.
>"I'll have to think about that. Not like I can just up and run away from my family and things. But...perhaps an extended leave to attend to a particular place of learning could be arranged for..."
-
> Freeze. "... Join you... to meet the princess? Or to 'the other side'?"
>"Well, we were already going to meet the princess together, weren't we? In that case, both."
>"Huh."
>Raise eyebrows.
>"I'll have to think about that. Not like I can just up and run away from my family and things. But...perhaps an extended leave to attend to a particular place of learning could be arranged for..."
>"Sounds like you agree!" she says.
-
>"You've definitely got me intrigued. But you seem to be quite good at that."
-
>"You've definitely got me intrigued. But you seem to be quite good at that."
>"I'm quite.. notorious for that, over there.. Not all people like me as much.."
-
>"Mmm. I could see downsides. Why don't you tell me a bit about over there, while we finish up?"
-
>"Mmm. I could see downsides. Why don't you tell me a bit about over there, while we finish up?"
>"Well, there's a huge mountain there, and there's all kinds of Youkai living there, so we call it Youkai Mountain. On top of it is a shrine, called the Moriya Shrine. Some gods live there. There's also the Misty Lake, and the Scarlet Devil Mansion lies at the lake's edge. She lives there with her staff. Near the mountain, there's a big forest we call The Forest of Magic. The black magician and the puppeteer live there. I'll tell you more while we walk towards the Palace, okay?"
-
>Finish tea.
>"Alright. Before we do that, though, I'd like to stop at my home and change into something more suitable to the palace."
>Regardless of her answer, depart. And, offer her a hand.
-
>Finish tea.
>"Alright. Before we do that, though, I'd like to stop at my home and change into something more suitable to the palace."
>Regardless of her answer, depart. And, offer her a hand.
>You finish your cup of tea. It was delicious.
>"That would be a sensible thing to do."
>She takes your hand, and you start walking back towards your mansion.
-
>Save the moment, all the feelings of butterflies and puppies, and all that.
>"So, you really want me to go back with you, huh?"
>Try not to draw too much attention, or do anything that would alert people to us, whilst heading back home.
-
>Save the moment, all the feelings of butterflies and puppies, and all that.
>"So, you really want me to go back with you, huh?"
>Try not to draw too much attention, or do anything that would alert people to us, whilst heading back home.
>You save the moment.. wait, what is this about?
>"I don't like getting bored, and bad things tend to happen when I do, so the people there don't like it either."
>You walk home while trying to seem inconspicuous. It seems to work, because you don't see anyone looking.
>You arrive near your house. There aren't any maids standing at the front door. They've probably realised you left your room!
-
>What seems to be the standard procedure for the house staff when they realize we're gone? What do we think would be the best way to proceed, given past experience.
>"Well, this is home. Nice, huh? Now, just give me a moment to figure out the best way to get inside without being caught..."
-
>What seems to be the standard procedure for the house staff when they realize we're gone? What do we think would be the best way to proceed, given past experience.
>"Well, this is home. Nice, huh? Now, just give me a moment to figure out the best way to get inside without being caught..."
>Well, they usually tell your dad and he preaches you.. but he isn't here at the moment. You usually try to climb up to your room and pretend nothing happened. You're pretty good at that.
>"Well, it's nothing compared to what I've seen, but I suppose it's better than the houses in the commoner's quarters."
-
>"Heh. You're just trying to lure me over there now, aren't you? I'll be right back."
>Up that bamboo stalk! Get changed into something proper for a trip to the palace. Then, if we can without ruining it, head back down. Otherwise, time to stealth out the front door!
-
>"Heh. You're just trying to lure me over there now, aren't you? I'll be right back."
>Up that bamboo stalk! Get changed into something proper for a trip to the palace. Then, if we can without ruining it, head back down. Otherwise, time to stealth out the front door!
>"I am doing no such things..."
>You get up the bean bamboostalk, and get dressed into your red dress. You'll have to sneak, though!
>You mentally prepare yourself to sneak out.
-
>Plan out the route we can feel we can rely on, given time of day and current house scenarion, and sneak on outta there.
-
>Plan out the route we can feel we can rely on, given time of day and current house scenarion, and sneak on outta there.
>You slowly make your way down the hallway, along the less-used set of stairs that lead to the kitchen. You don't think you've been spotted. You haven't actually seen anyone else, either.. It's kind of unnerving.
>You're about to leave, when...
>"Where are you going, sis?"
>Oh, it's Orochi again...
-
>Try not too look too irritated.
>How trustworthy is she, in regards to not blabbing about our various secret endeavors?
>If she is trustworthy, just say, "I have a thing to do. Top secret. But if it pans out, I'll have a hell of a story for you."
-
>Try not too look too irritated.
>How trustworthy is she, in regards to not blabbing about our various secret endeavors?
>If she is trustworthy, just say, "I have a thing to do. Top secret. But if it pans out, I'll have a hell of a story for you."
>You try to act casual. You succeeded!
>You assume she'd want to know something top secret..
>"Really? That sounds exciting! Can I join you? I'm very good at sneaking around, because I'm so small!"
-
>Wave a hand.
>"Not this time, sis. More to it than just sneaking around. But, tell you what, tomorrow we'll go hit up the town, maybe I'll introduce you to someone interesting."
-
>Wave a hand.
>"Not this time, sis. More to it than just sneaking around. But, tell you what, tomorrow we'll go hit up the town, maybe I'll introduce you to someone interesting."
>"Ooh.. Okay! Well, see you later, then!"
>She seems disappointed, though. You really want to remember doing that. You actually kinda like her.
-
>Oh yeah. As long as we're not on the lamb.
>"Don't worry, I'll even take you to see your aunt if you like."
>Exit, relink up with Yukari.
-
>Oh yeah. As long as we're not on the lamb.
>"Don't worry, I'll even take you to see your aunt if you like."
>Exit, relink up with Yukari.
Parser's note: I actually had to look up what that meant.. Hehe...
>"Really? Okay then!"
>You leave through the back door, and walk to where you left Yukari.. Heh? She's not here..
-
>Look around. Scout around a bit if needs be.
-
>Look around. Scout around a bit if needs be.
>You look around for a few seconds.. Where could she have gone..?
>Suddenly, you hear her voice behind you. "What took you so long?"
-
>Turn around, and figure out where she's hiding.
>"Sorry, ran into my little sister, and had to put her off."
-
>Turn around, and figure out where she's hiding.
>"Sorry, ran into my little sister, and had to put her off."
>You look around.. and see someone behind you! She's inside some sort of hole, floating in mid-air! The lady is wearing a tan dress with purple ribbons, blond hair and she's carrying an umbrella..? Is that really Yukari?
>"Well then! Let's get going."
-
>Gape.
>"...W...w...w..."
-
>Gape.
>"...W...w...w..."
>Wha-aa!?
>"Oh, do you like my new clothes? I usually don't wear them while I'm on this side, but I thought it would be fitting for this."
-
>"How did you...hole..."
>Gape more, but a little less slackjawed-like.
-
>"How did you...hole..."
>Gape more, but a little less slackjawed-like.
Parser's note: Why do you keep on making me look stuff up? Egh..
>Wait.. Where did that hole come from?
>"I prefer the term gap. It fits the bill better."
-
>Nod dumbly.
>"Why is it here...why are you in it?"
-
>Nod dumbly.
>"Why is it here...why are you in it?"
>Yukari laughs menacingly.
>"It's the only way of transportation between here and Gensokyo. It's not as scary as it looks."
-
>"How did it get here?!"
-
>"How did it get here?!"
>"How do you suppose it got here? I created it, of course!"
-
>Bring a hand to the side of our head, just look at her in a daze of bewilderment.
-
>Bring a hand to the side of our head, just look at her in a daze of bewilderment.
>You stare at Yukari in bewilderment.
>"So, what's the problem? Let's get going now!"
-
>"That's not normal! Of course it's a problem!"
>Not shouting, just surprise.
-
>"That's not normal! Of course it's a problem!"
>Not shouting, just surprise.
>"How else did you think we were going to Gensokyo? It's not like you can just walk there!"
-
>In amazement: "How are you so calm about this!?"
-
>In amazement: "How are you so calm about this!?"
>"Well, I should be, I've been living like this for 200 years"
>She continues to laugh.. It's very creepy.
-
>Just continue to gape. This is a pretty potent violation of our sense of what is natural and what is not, and a bit of time is going to be needed to cope.
-
>Just continue to gape. This is a pretty potent violation of our sense of what is natural and what is not, and a bit of time is going to be needed to cope.
>You continue to gape.
>Yukari says: "We really should get going now.. Hop in!"
-
>Follow her directions, if a dazed sort of way. Take her hand again if she'll let us.
-
>Follow her directions, if a dazed sort of way. Take her hand again if she'll let us.
>She disappears into the gap?
>Do you really want to follow her?
-
>Stumble after her.
-
>Stumble after her.
>You follow after her, into the creepy hole.
>On the other side, there's a huge purple abyss! You can't even see the bottom! Wait a second..?
>There's all these eyes all over the place, looking into all kinds of places. One of them looks into a weird-looking room with some weird kind of doohickey. The word 'NASU' is written on it.
-
>Just try not to break down now...we've clearly made a terrible mistake.
-
>Just try not to break down now...we've clearly made a terrible mistake.
>You try to calm down...
>Wait, down? You accidentily look down and see.. there's no floor? Wha~?
-
>It's time to curl up into a ball now. Just try not to think.
-
>It's time to curl up into a ball now. Just try not to think.
>You f~f-float up into a ball and start thinking happy thoughts. Family, friends, tea, good food, family, friends, tea good food....
>Using a mantra you become able to use your mind once more. Yukari is silently awaiting you.
-
>Steadying breaths. Good thing we have no clue about photosynthesis, or we'd have to worry about how we breath.
>"You...could have warned me a bit more..."
-
>Steadying breaths. Good thing we have no clue about photosynthesis, or we'd have to worry about how we breath.
>"You...could have warned me a bit more..."
>"But it's hilarious! Why would I have wanted to miss this?
>Aah.. She's turning out to be a lot scarier than she seemed..
-
>"...So I see. You were the sort of person who liked to pull legs off of crickets as a child, weren't you?"
-
>"...So I see. You were the sort of person who liked to pull legs off of crickets as a child, weren't you?"
>"I don't wish to talk about my childhood. That is none of the matter in any case."
-
>"Heh, alright. Fine. Just a silly little observation, you know? I'm kind of a thousand miles from my bearings right now. So, what now?"
-
>"Heh, alright. Fine. Just a silly little observation, you know? I'm kind of a thousand miles from my bearings right now. So, what now?"
>"All right. Follow me down, then. I've prepared a gap a ways down"
-
>"How?"
-
>"How?"
>"I'd supposed you'd have noticed by now, but human beings are capable of flight in this dimension too. Result of the liquid we're floating in.
-
>"...Liquid?"
>Wave an arm about.
>"Wouldn't it be swimming, then?"
>Either way, follow Yukari.
-
>"...Liquid?"
>Wave an arm about.
>"Wouldn't it be swimming, then?"
>Either way, follow Yukari.
>You wave your arm around. You suddenly move a lot slower. It's a lot harder to swing it.
>"Perhaps you could say so. Perhaps not"
>Yukari floats, or swims, downwards, into the purple depths.
>After a while, it gets so dark you can't even see anything but purple.
>But then, suddenly, you get blinded by a golden light from even further down!
-
>Wonder at it, and keep going.
-
>Wonder at it, and keep going.
>Whoaa.. It's so shiny!
>When you get closer, you see it's actually a girl.. Or is it? She's floating inbetweenst five golden orbs, from which 5 light rays are fired. It looks like's she's composed out of the light.. The orbs make a faint humming sound.
-
>We're going to have to spend quite a bit more time coping soon.
>"...I give up. What now?"
-
>We're going to have to spend quite a bit more time coping soon.
>"...I give up. What now?"
>Eeh.. This is just so confusing...
>"This is a friend of mine, Yuugen. She's lived here for as long as I can remember. She'll guide us to our destination"
>The light-bodied lady nods and starts to float downwards.
-
>Continue to follow.
-
>Continue to follow.
>You follow Yuugen downwards.
>After an hour or so, you reach the gap. Through it, you can see the hallway of the Palace.
>"Thank you, Yuugen. I am indebted once again." Yukari says
>Yuugen starts to speak with an odd, soft voice:"I will visit you once it is time once again."
>Yukari nods, and floats through the gap once no one is watching.
-
>Follow. If we've been in this place for an hour...there's probably been several moments of trauma from exposure to the unnatural...
-
>Follow. If we've been in this place for an hour...there's probably been several moments of trauma from exposure to the unnatural...
>You follow her through the gap, and come out the other side. No one notices you because they're all too busy running around.
>Even though you've been flying for some time, you're not tired at all.. What was with that place?
-
>Take a deep, steadying breath.
>Sink to the ground.
-
>Take a deep, steadying breath.
>Sink to the ground.
>You take another deep breath..
>Aren't you kind of overreacting now? Were's that no-good rooftop-jumping scamp you used to be? You won't let yourself be intimidated, will you?
-
>It's one thing to be a rooftop jumping scamp, and another to have numerous aspects of reality that one thought were pretty sound be ripped apart by someone we were just flirting with.
>Mumble: "...I think I need a hug...and a drink..."
-
>It's one thing to be a rooftop jumping scamp, and another to have numerous aspects of reality that one thought were pretty sound be ripped apart by someone we were just flirting with.
>Mumble: "...I think I need a hug...and a drink..."
>"Both will be arranged in the audience room." Yukari says, and starts walking towards the main hallway.
-
>"Hey...wait?"
>Stumble after her.
-
>"Hey...wait?"
>Stumble after her.
>"Well then, come on! We have a princess to meet!"
>You stumble after her.
>You reach the main hall. You see a man walking around, his head held low. What's his problem?
-
>Do we recognize the person?
>Keep following Yukari.
-
>Do we recognize the person?
>Keep following Yukari.
>Wait a second.. Is that.. dad?
>You stand still for a second.
-
>Would he yell at us for being here?
-
>Would he yell at us for being here?
>He usually would, but.. he doesn't seem like his usual self. His clothes are all ragged, and he seems quite depressed.. Poor dad...
-
>"Dad? ...What happened?"
-
>"Dad? ...What happened?"
>"Mokou? Is that you? Where have you been all this time? It's been horrible!"
>He starts to cry...
-
>...Has he ever done this before?
>Give the poor guy a hug.
-
>...Has he ever done this before?
>Give the poor guy a hug.
>No.. he has never.. what happened to him?
>You give your father a hug. He firmly hugs you back...
>"Mokou, where did you go? We couldn't find you.. You just left one day.."
-
>"I...just stepped outside for a bit. I was gone for longer?"
-
>"I...just stepped outside for a bit. I was gone for longer?"
>He suddenly starts laughing frantically...
>"For a bit? My girl, you've been gone for a year!"
-
>"...What the hell."
>"Yukari! You have some explaining to do!"
-
>"...What the hell."
>"Yukari! You have some explaining to do!"
>"Oohoho, do I? I don't think that was me, though. I don't govern time.."
-
>"...What."
>Hug Pa again. "But what happened to you? I mean...you're not just this broken up because of me, are you?"
-
> Sugar things up a bit so he knows you're perfectly fine. Like so:
> "And what happened when you met this princess person? You do have good news for me, right, daddy?"
-
>"...What."
>Hug Pa again. "But what happened to you? I mean...you're not just this broken up because of me, are you?"
> Sugar things up a bit so he knows you're perfectly fine. Like so:
> "And what happened when you met this princess person? You do have good news for me, right, daddy?"
>Yukari just laughs... She laughs a lot, doesn't she? That makes it even creepier...
>You hug your dad once more..
>When you ask about Kaguya, he starts to cry even louder. People are starting to notice it...
>"Oh Kaguya, that old wench! Sent me on a quest to retrieve some impossible-to-retrieve articifacts and just laughing at my failures. Then she married the emperor, and took our house! They're planning some kind of weird ritual to become immortal at this moment!"
>Every single word is louder than the last one...
-
>"...What?"
-
>"...What?"
>"Will you try to stop them for me? As a parting gift?"
-
>Who is asking? This?
>If it's Dad, say, "Parting?"
-
>Who is asking? This?
>If it's Dad, say, "Parting?"
>"Yes.. I am afraid being a poor man doesn't give you a very long lifespan. The emperor let me stay here for a while, but he is planning on having me brought to the streets. This will most likely be the last time we speak.." he says.
-
>"The hell it is! C'mon, let's go set this Kaguya straight!"
-
>"The hell it is! C'mon, let's go set this Kaguya straight!"
>Yeah! Who does she think she is, ruining lives and being straight-up rude! You have to stop that wench!
>But how..?
-
>We'll think about it when we get there.
>Haul Dad along, he's got grievances too.
-
>We'll think about it when we get there.
>Haul Dad along, he's got grievances too.
>No time to waste!
>You grab your dad, who willingly walks with you
>Yukari sees you're on the move, and starts walking with you.
>"So, do you now see why I need to speak to Kaguya?"
-
>"Yeah. Yeah I do. So...who did that year trick to us?"
-
>"I daresay that was li'l Kaguya.. I believe she has mastered the power of eternity..." Yukari says.
>Your father stares at you in an odd way..
-
>"It's a long story, Dad. This is Yukari, she's magic."
>Onwards!
-
>"It's a long story, Dad. This is Yukari, she's magic."
>Onwards!
>Your father is just being silent...
>You make your way to the audience room. A huge crowd of people are gathered here. Kaguya and the Emperor are standing on some sort of stage, and a third, nurse-clothed lady, is standing in the back. She looks kind of impatient...
>Inbetween them, a beautiful cup is placed. It's decorated with a moon made of a very shiny metal. You can't quite see if there's anything in there..
-
>"So how do we mess this up, Yukari?"
-
>"So how do we mess this up, Yukari?"
>"It's really quite simple: you drink the Hourai Elixir, become immortal, and kill Kaguya"
-
>"Huh? Drink what? Why? I'm not up to speed on all this stuff, you know! How about you magic up some kind of distraction and we'll knock her on her ass!"
-
>"Huh? Drink what? Why? I'm not up to speed on all this stuff, you know! How about you magic up some kind of distraction and we'll knock her on her ass!"
>"The Hourai Elixir was made by Eirin Yakogoro, the lady with the hat over there."
>"I think you will have to become immortal, if not just because the Youkai in Gensokyo might accidentily murder you."
>Yukari nods, and whispers:"Border of Stage and Audience"
>There's something .. changed with the stage.. Was that Yukari's work?
-
> What does the stage look like now, then?
-
> What does the stage look like now, then?
>There's ... some kind of barrier between the stage and the audience. When you look more closely, you see the people on the stage seem to be doing the same thing over and over again..
-
>Head toward the stage, keep Dad with us. We're gonna make 'em proud >=[
-
>Head toward the stage, keep Dad with us. We're gonna make 'em proud >=[
>You make your way through the crowd, and end up at the stage. Most people look at you angrily, but that doesn't really matter.
-
>Oh they're gonna have a reason to be angry alright. We've had far too many unnatural experiences at this point in time...
>Hop up on stage and make a beeline for the Princess.
-
>Oh they're gonna have a reason to be angry alright. We've had far too many unnatural experiences at this point in time...
>Hop up on stage and make a beeline for the Princess.
Parser's note: Darn you, Purv, and your ability to force my vocabulary to grow in such a way!
>You jump up the stage and pass the glass-looking border. On the other side, you see Kaguya, the Emperor, and 'Eirin', discussing.
>The Emperor notices you, and says:"Fujiwara's daughter? How did you get here?"
>Kaguya nods towards Eirin and says:"Dispose of her. We don't need any more trouble, with the Youkai of Borders already here..."
>Eirin grabs a bow that she'd been hiding at her back, and deposits a silver-coloured arrow onto it.
-
>Can we move so that the the Princess, or the emperor, is between the archer and us?
-
>Can we move so that the the Princess, or the emperor, is between the archer and us?
>You can always try. The odds aren't that bad, you have Yukari backing you and you're pretty quick. You don't know how fast they are, but you suppose the Emperor is a little less nimble than the Princess.
-
>Go for it; try to put Kaguya between us. We can't risk the Emperor being hurt, and these moon peoples clearly don't care.
>Close in on Kaguya too, if we can.
-
>Go for it; try to put Kaguya between us. We can't risk the Emperor being hurt, and these moon peoples clearly don't care.
>Close in on Kaguya too, if we can.
>You jump behind Kaguya, just before Eirin shoots her bow at where you were standing.
>Kaguya grunts, and says:"I said DISPOSE OF HER! Not LET HER GET BEHIND ME!"
>Eirin says:"I'm deeply sorry, Mistress.. It won't happen again."
>Eirin readies her bow again, but this time, she loads a golden arrow.
-
>Might as well press the advantage, grab Kaguya from behind. Hook an arm around her neck! Let's get a hostage!
-
>Might as well press the advantage, grab Kaguya from behind. Hook an arm around her neck! Let's get a hostage!
>You try to grab Kaguya by the neck, but before you know it, she's wacked you onto the ground.
>Then, to make things worse, Eirin fires the golden arrow into your head.. Ouch.
>Wait, you're not dead yet?
>Other than not being dead, you find you cannot move any muscles excpet for your mouth..
>Kaguya smiles, and says:"Now then! To our immortal love and lives!
>She grabs the cup and drinks from it. One sip, two sips, three sips..
>Kaguya is suddenly enveloped by a white light.. and cackles loudly!
>Suddenly, a wild Yukari appeared Yukari appears in a gap behind the cup, and quickly grabs it. The Emperor is stupified and tries to grab the cup, but instead falls to the ground
>Yukari appears next to you, and says:"Here, drink it! Quickly!"
-
>Struggle!
>"Why?"
-
>Struggle!
>"Why?"
>You struggle, but you can't move!
>"Let's put it this way: drink it or die. Is that easy enough?"
-
>Keep struggling, damnit.
>"Fine."
>Do so!
-
>Keep struggling, damnit.
>"Fine."
>Do so!
>Yukari puts the cup at your mouth, and you drink. It tastes like undistilled rainwater. With one sip, you don't feel like growing up anymore. With two sips, you suddenly feel a lot healthier. And with a third sip, you are suddenly enveloped by a reddish hue, and you can move once again!
>You are suddenly no longer in control of yourself, and in your uncontrol, you fire an array of fireballs! They hit the Princess and the Emperor, but not the Archer.
>The Emperor is scorched by the fire, and falls down to the ground. He seems quite dead... The Princess however quickly disappears in a cloud of smoke, only to reappear seconds later.. What IS this immortality thing about?
-
>Prisoner in our own body? Yeah this is going to cause some blown sanity checks ;_;
-
>Prisoner in our own body? Yeah this is going to cause some blown sanity checks ;_;
>This is insaneee... Well, you'll have all of eternity to get used to it..
>Kaguya has recovered, and says:"What? How did she.. Eirin! We are leaving!"
>Eirin walks over to Kaguya, and they both .. disappear out of existence..
>Yukari walks over to you, and says:"Hrm.. You had a lot to swallow for a human in such a short time. You must want some time to think. Hmm.. somewhere in Gensokyo where there are no people.. Hmm... How does an abandoned bamboo forest sound?"
-
>Are we in control of our own body now?
>If so, it's probably time to collapse into a weeping heap. We just lost control and killed a guy; and committed regicide on the descendant of Amaterasu.
-
>Are we in control of our own body now?
>If so, it's probably time to collapse into a weeping heap. We just lost control and killed a guy; and committed regicide on the descendant of Amaterasu.
>Kind of.. More than when you FREAKING FIRED FIREBALLS AT THE EMPEROR
>Oh god.. What did you just do? You collapse onto the floor and WEEP!
>You hear Yukari murmuring:"Jeez, this was to be expected, but I didn't expect humans to be THIS weakspirited..."
-
>Probably too far gone to rise to this bait...
-
>Probably too far gone to rise to this bait...
Hey, you're the player. I honestly think I went way overboard with the whole Mokou sidestory... Well, this arc is kinda almost over anyways. And now back to our not actually regularily scheduled post.
>You don't think you'll be able to react in any sort of angry way now. You're just too emotionally tired..
-
I think you went exactly overboard enough. Just that Mokou ended up taking a lot of sanity hits in the process~
>Just weep it out for now. Either we'll get over it enough to function for a few tens of minutes, Yukari will lose patience, or we get arrested for killing the Emperor.
-
I think you went exactly overboard enough. Just that Mokou ended up taking a lot of sanity hits in the process~
>Just weep it out for now. Either we'll get over it enough to function for a few tens of minutes, Yukari will lose patience, or we get arrested for killing the Emperor.
>You weep, and weep and weep until suddenly, a voice pops into your head
>"Eventually, Mokou's tears stopped"
>And by miracle, they did!~
>Yukari asks you:"So, are we leaving for Gensokyo, then? I presume you'd love to meet some actual nice people by now"
-
>Look around unsteadily.
>"Where's Dad? What happened? Why did I even do that?"
-
>Look around unsteadily.
>"Where's Dad? What happened? Why did I even do that?"
>You turn your head around a few times, but all you see is Yukari inside her gap and the Emperor's scorched corpse...
>"I saved your dad by sending him to your mother. He'd have been killed otherwise. You were overtaken by your newfound powers because you don't have the selfcontrol the lunarians have. It was just .. an exhaust of excess power that you got after you drunk the Elixir."
-
>"That doesn't make me feel much better."
>Sigh.
>"Let's go, I guess..."
>Stumble toward the gap whilst we're still emotionally numb enough to do things before the horror overtakes us again.
-
>"That doesn't make me feel much better."
>Sigh.
>"Let's go, I guess..."
>Stumble toward the gap whilst we're still emotionally numb enough to do things before the horror overtakes us again.
>"You could've been overtaken by the inate evil of the Elixir, but fortunately, you didn't..
>You sigh, and walk over to the gap. You arrive at the same purple abyss you were last time, but the air seems a bit different. There's a bridge under you now, too!"
-
>"Evil?"
>Just follow Yukari. Don't think about what happened. Don't think about what happened. Just stare down at the bridge. The nice, normal bridge...
-
>"Evil?"
>Just follow Yukari. Don't think about what happened. Don't think about what happened. Just stare down at the bridge. The nice, normal bridge...
>Yukari laughs maniacally, and when she's calmed down, she says:"I was only joking.. Lightening the mood is our main priority right now, right?"
>You don't think about what just happened. You just left your past behind you, and you've repressed all those thoughts...
>You look at the bridge. Fortunately, it's wide enough that you don't look down, which has actually become important since you've just noticed you can't float anymore...
-
>"...I killed a person, Yukari. I don't think the mood can really be lightened right now..."
>"...I killed a person, Yukari. I don't think the mood can really be lightened right now..."
>"Isn't that actually more of a reason to try it? Don't give up, now! It's over! Forget it!"
>Yukari grins.
>"I could also seperate those memories from you.. It would be a lot easier on you.."
>"The way to Gensokyo is really quite easy. Travelling from one plane of existence to another is very elemental, for some reason. Perhaps the Ancient Gods lived here before I did.."
-
>Just let her talk. It seems to make her happy.
-
>Just let her talk. It seems to make her happy.
>"I've met some of them, in my travels. Yuugen is one of them, but I don't know a lot about her. There's this girl Kikuri, who doesn't have a human body but instead is some kind of soul embodying a moon. And lastly there's an angelic girl called Sariel. She's the Yama of Gensokyo, or at least, she was. Some lady called Eiki was installed in her place. I don't think she's quite as strong as Sariel, though!"
>"Well, the gap is on the other side of the bridge. Ready to step into a new world?"
-
>Look up ahead.
-
>Look up ahead.
>You look up ahead. The bridge looks to be no longer than a mile, and at the end, you can see some kind of red building, with the usual gap distortion around it. Could that be Gensokyo's Hakurei Shrine?
-
>"Huh..."
>We know what the Hakurei Shrine is?
-
>"Huh..."
>We know what the Hakurei Shrine is?
>I don't have anything to parse for this
>Do you? DOOO YOOU? No, you shouldn't, that was a failure on my part..
-
>Carry on down the bridge.
-
>Carry on down the bridge.
>You walk with Yukari to the end of the bridge. Yukari starts running halfway through!
>"Well then, let's call it a race, shall we?"
-
>"I'm not really feeling it right now. But...thanks for trying to cheer me up."
-
>"I'm not really feeling it right now. But...thanks for trying to cheer me up."
>"Oh well.."
>You walk for a few more minutes, and you reach the gap. On the other side is a plain, wooden building with a shimenawa hanging over the entryway. The gap is floating just over the shrine stairs. A sign on the roof says 'Hakurei Shrine. Don't steal my donation box again! Reimu Hakurei'
-
>Look around.
>"So...what now?"
-
>Look around.
>"So...what now?"
>"Well, that's pretty obvious, right? We go through!"
>Yukari hops through and lands elegantly using her umbrella.
-
>Follow!
-
>Follow!
>You hop on through the gap, and....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Girls are done reminiscing, thanks for waiting!
>You are once again Sakuya Izayoi.
>You're still in the room with Mokou, but she seems to have fallen asleep again. You decided it wouldn't be nice to wake her up, so you let het lie for another hour.
>When she wakes up, she shivers and says: "Wow.. My memories just came surging back.. That was pretty scary.."
-
>Did she tell much of a story at all before drifting off?
-
>Did she tell much of a story at all before drifting off?
>No, she didn't.. She just fell in some sort of trance... What did she dream about?
-
>"Are you alright?"
-
>"Are you alright?"
>"Yeah.. I just remembered a lot of things.. About my father, Kaguya, Eirin and.. Yukari."
-
>"Well, our hosts are likely expecting us sooner or later."
>Did we get Mokou presentable?
-
>"Well, our hosts are likely expecting us sooner or later."
>Did we get Mokou presentable?
>"Oh, right! Let's go then."
>You'd just finished her before she collapsed.
-
>Exeunt, and go have that long-delayed breakfast.
-
>Exeunt, and go have that long-delayed breakfast.
>You walk out of your room and to the kitchen. Layla is making some eggs with rice. It smells pretty nice!
>She sees you, and turns around: "Ah, the longsleepers have finally come for breakfast... What took you so long?"
-
>"My companion was feeling a little under the weather, and I did not wish to leave her alone. All is fine now."
-
>"My companion was feeling a little under the weather, and I did not wish to leave her alone. All is fine now."
>"Ah, okay then.. Will you be joining us for breakfast before you leave for Hakugyokurou?"
-
>Glance at it. Can note any poisons or such?
>If not: "We would be delighted!"
-
>Glance at it. Can note any poisons or such?
>If not: "We would be delighted!"
>None at all. She wouldn't want to poison her sisters.. Can ghosts be poisoned anyways?
>"Well then!"
>She puts the eggs and rice on a plate and takes them outside.
-
>Follow along.
-
>Follow along.
>You follow Layla into the garden, and so does Mokou. Layla's sisters are practicing on the stage a little further into the garden.
>Layla takes a seat at the head of the table, and Mokou takes the direct opposite seat.
-
>Have a seat near Mokou.
-
>Have a seat near Mokou.
>You take a seat to the left of Mokou. The band seems to have finished, as they fly towards the right of the table and take their seats there.
>"So, Sakuya! What are you planning on doing at Hakugyokurou?" Merlin asks. "I heard the witch was visiting Yuyuko, too! Did you come to find her?"
-
>"I plan to find out why spirits are running amok in Gensokyo, and causing a general disturbance. And the witch, you say?"
>What do we know about The Witch?
-
>"I plan to find out why spirits are running amok in Gensokyo, and causing a general disturbance. And the witch, you say?"
>What do we know about The Witch?
>"Spirits running amok? Ah, so THAT was what was going on in Muenzaka... We just thought we got a couple of new fans or something.." Lunasa says
>"Yeah, Marisa, the thief, the black magician, whatever you want to call her. She flew through here yesterday morning. The spirits must've annoyed her too.."
>"I can understand that!" Mokou says. "They were attacking the humans in the human village, too!"
>Her name is Marisa Kirisame, she usually lives in her house in the Forest of Magic and she's very well known around Gensokyo for flying around and beating up youkai in search of treasure or just to try out new kinds of magic. She's participated in all the incidents, too, while you haven't.. She might have a better idea what's going on.
-
>"Mmm. Has she flown back out?"
>Have some brekkies!
>What do we know of Muenzaka?
-
>"Mmm. Has she flown back out?"
>Have some brekkies!
>What do we know of Muenzaka?
>"No, she stayed over with Yuyuko. They had a lot to catch up, after all!" Lyrica says
>You eat some breakfast. It's delicious even though it was made by a ghost!
>Mokou scrunches it all in in a few bites, and when you look at her, she just grins and says: "What is it, Sakuya?"
>It's the end of the road of the dead. The most horrifying ghosts gather there to sit out their eternal punishment. You could say it's some kind of hell, but a very stylish one, with all the beautiful trees and flowers that grow there. The Saigyouji Ayakashi also stands there. It's quite near Hakugyokurou. Why the Prismrivers would give their concerts there baffles you.
-
>"Hmm. Well if she's staying, I expect she's fixed up the whole problem to her satisfaction. Still, having come all this way, it would be a waste not to have a visit and make sure. Perhaps you tell us how things have been there, recently?"
-
>"Hmm. Well if she's staying, I expect she's fixed up the whole problem to her satisfaction. Still, having come all this way, it would be a waste not to have a visit and make sure. Perhaps you tell us how things have been there, recently?"
>"That's true! The more souls, the merrier, Yuyuko always says. She says it's some saying from the real world, but it might as well be from here!" Lunasa says
>Mokou laughs heartily...
>"In Hakugyokurou, you mean? Well, things have been pretty quiet really.. Until recently, that is. The Yama came to visit Yuyuko, because she couldn't keep hold of the spirits well enough anymore... That was a week ago. I haven't heard what happened after that.. I hope nothing bad happened..." Merlin says..
-
>What do we recall about the Yama?
>"Is that so? What did they agree to do about it?"
-
>What do we recall about the Yama?
>"Is that so? What did they agree to do about it?"
>She's the Yama to whom Gensokyo was assigned. Her name is Shiki Eiki, because Yamaxanadu is just her title. She flies around Gensokyo preaching people and can be quite pressing. She 'helped' you become less cold after you met her a few years back at Muenzaka, when the Sixty-Year Cycle came around again. Even though it doesn't really show, she's one of the strongest people in Gensokyo you've met. You've heard rumours she's stronger than Reimu Hakurei, Yukari Yakumo and the Flower Youkai together.. Although that might've been a fabrication of Aya's.
>"I don't know! I was kinda spying on them, so I flew away as fast as I could! Youmu would kill me (again!) if she'd realise I was spying on her!" Merlin says
-
>"I suppose I shall have to ask, then."
>Finish breakfast.
-
>"I suppose I shall have to ask, then."
>Finish breakfast.
>"I guess.." Merlin says, shyly.
>You finish your breakfast. It was once again delicious.
-
>"At the risk of prying, what would you have planned today?"
-
>"At the risk of prying, what would you have planned today?"
>"We were planning on performing somewhere today, but I don't know where.. Layla is our tour manager!" Lunasa says
>Layla nods, and runs into the house. When she comes back, she's carrying a pile of flyers. She hands you, Mokou and the sisters one.
~Obtained Prismriver Tour Flyer 1x~
~This pamphlet has the plan for all of the Prismriver's performances this summer~
>"According to this, they're going to the Garden of the Sun today. Do you know where that is? I've never heard of it..." Mokou says
-
>"It's not quite the most inviting place, let us say."
>Once Mokou seems like she is done, clean up and say, "I believe we've impinged upon your hospitality for too long, now. It is time we get back on the road."
-
>"It's not quite the most inviting place, let us say."
>Once Mokou seems like she is done, clean up and say, "I believe we've impinged upon your hospitality for too long, now. It is time we get back on the road."
>"Huh. Okay then.." She seems curious, but manages to contain it.
>Mokou finished her meal in half the time you took.. The pig..
>"All right then. Please tell Mistress Saigyouji I said hi!" Layla says.
-
>"But of course."
>Make our way out; unless we left some stuff by our room upon which we'll stop there first to retrieve said stuff.
-
>"But of course."
>Make our way out; unless we left some stuff by our room upon which we'll stop there first to retrieve said stuff.
>You didn't leave anything behind, did you? Well, if you forgot, it probably wasn't that important.
>You walk through the long hallway and leave through the front door.
>"So, how do we get to.. Hagyokurogyourou?" Mokou asks.
-
>"Hakugyokurou. It's this way."
>Indicate this way, and recall the details of it.
-
>"Hakugyokurou. It's this way."
>Indicate this way, and recall the details of it.
>"Whatever" Mokou says.
>It's up in the sky near the Mansion. You basically go up and up till you hit your head.
>You point upwards. Mokou looks at you, confused.
-
>"You just keep going up, and try not to hit your head eventually."
>Let's do that, in fact.
-
>"You just keep going up, and try not to hit your head eventually."
>Let's do that, in fact.
>"Huh.. That sounds painful.. But I trust you.." she says
>You start flying upwards with Mokou. Higher and higher, higher and higher, higher and hi~.. oh? You hit your head.
>"So, ehmm, what now?" she says.
-
>Try not to rub the sore bit, and look around.
-
>Try not to rub the sore bit, and look around.
>You look around for a bit... and you find yourself on the stairs.. That's still as freaky as ever.
>Mokou doesn't appear next to you, though.. Wasn't there a problem between her and Yuyuko?
-
>Was there a problem? Think on that.
>Have a look around, can we see any signs of Mokou?
-
>Was there a problem? Think on that.
>Have a look around, can we see any signs of Mokou?
>Hmm.. Oh, right! Mokou being immortal and all, she can't really visit the land of the dead...
>When you look downward, you can see Mokou through some sort of glass window.. Seems like the border still hasn't really recuperated from Yukari's assault.
-
>Does it seem she can see us? If so, give a small shrug, then bow.
>After that, start up the stairs.
-
>Does it seem she can see us? If so, give a small shrug, then bow.
>After that, start up the stairs.
>She can, apparently. You shrug and bow to her, and she flies downwards. You see some fireballs flying around after she flies down... What a temper...
>You start heading up the stairs.. It's still as purple as ever, but the ghosts are a lot rowdier than usual. They're bustling all over the stairs!
-
>Ascend. Do be wary of any danmaku or rushes. The last thing we need is frostbite.
-
>Ascend. Do be wary of any danmaku or rushes. The last thing we need is frostbite.
>You ascend the stairs. You're attacked by some stray ghosts, but nothing serious.
>Halfway through, you see the Grim Reaper flying down the stairs.
>You hear her moan: "Why'd I have to be the messenger? Everybody always shoots the messenger..."
-
>"Pardon me."
-
>"Pardon me."
>"Oh, it's you.. What're you doing here? Don't you have a mistress to attend to?" she says
-
>"I've a number of things to attend, recently. For instance, the spirits causing a problem at the human village."
-
>"I've a number of things to attend, recently. For instance, the spirits causing a problem at the human village."
>She stays quiet for a while, and then...
>"There too? Darnit, what the hell is going on? Spirits are freely floating anywhere they want.. It's like the border has completely collapsed or something.." she says.
>"Well, I gotta get going again, Shiki isn't going to cut me any slack and I've been preached enough for the coming few years, so if you'll excuse me.."
>She does not await your answer, but flies away in a hurry.
-
>Well. Lovely.
>Proceed.
-
>Well. Lovely.
>Proceed.
>She's not really nice, now is she?
>You proceed up the stairs, and find yourself at Hakugyokurou. A path extends endlessly to the left and to the right, with criscrossing paths and sakura trees all over the place. There?s also a large variety of gravestones in the garden. In front of you, there?s the mansion. It's always surprising to see how small it is compared to the infinite garden behind it. You see Youmu on your left as a green flash, slicing the grass to keep it tidy.
-
>Proceed toward the main hall. We need to find the ghostest with the mostest.
-
>Proceed toward the main hall. We need to find the ghostest with the mostest.
>You open the doors and go into the main hall. Ghosts are flying around with all kinds of food, but they mostly carry what look to be sparrow wings....
>There are doors left, right and in front of you. You remember Yuyuko's room being straight ahead and Youmu's being to the right.
-
>Observe the ghosts for a moment and try to figure out what they are doing with the sparrows' wings. Also have a glimpse to the left.
>Then head forward.
-
>Observe the ghosts for a moment and try to figure out what they are doing with the sparrows' wings. Also have a glimpse to the left.
>Then head forward.
>They're coming from the left; perhaps the kitchen is there? They seem to be headed forward too...
>You head forward, and end up at a building-spanning balcony. You see Yuyuko and Marisa sitting at a table in the garden.
>Marisa sees you and says: "Ah, Sak'ya! You decided to join us too, ze?"
-
>"Miss Kirisame, Lady Saigyouji. You both seem to be having a good time. And things seem to be active around here."
>What do the ghosts seem to be doing with those wings?
-
>"Miss Kirisame, Lady Saigyouji. You both seem to be having a good time. And things seem to be active around here."
>What do the ghosts seem to be doing with those wings?
>"Ah, Izayoi-chan. How have you been? We were just catching up on the recent events that have been going on around Gensokyo." Yuyuko says
>"It seems more active around here? Hmm, I hadn't noticed yet... I wonder what you mean by that..." she muses, while reaching behind her.
>What you'd previously held for a very wide dress turns out to be a massive plate of sparrow wings! Where'd she get all those?
>"So, Sak, have the ghosts come and bother the mansion too? I thought to be quick and reach for the source, but it turns out old Yuyuko isn't in charge of it either.
I had to beat her up before she'd give me any information, though! You might wanna get ready!"
-
>"Not yet, but it's likely a matter of time by this point. I did notice the ferrywoman on her way out, and word has it the Enma was around?"
-
>"Not yet, but it's likely a matter of time by this point. I did notice the ferrywoman on her way out, and word has it the Enma was around?"
>"Ah, okay. Yeah, the slackmeister was here before, ze, and gave a quick message to Youmu and left again. I heard Shiki came and went too, ze, but she was gone before I got here."
>Yuyuko attempts to say something while eating, but it only comes out as gurgling: "Ya~ yama~ not ~ ghosts~ divine ~ spirits.."
-
>"Come again, Lady Saigyouji?"
-
>"Come again, Lady Saigyouji?"
>She scrunches down her meal, and then says: "I told the Yama they weren't ghosts, but divine spirits, and then she suddenly left~ I guess she had an epiphany!~"
-
>"Let us pretend I am not aware of the difference, please explain it?"
-
>"Let us pretend I am not aware of the difference, please explain it?"
>"Oh, you want to know?~"
>She suddenly jumps from her chair into the garden, and starts firing cherry blossom danmaku in a tight pattern!
>"You'll have to beat me first! Fufufufuu!~"
-
>"But of course!"
>Fly back, analyze the pattern. Stop time if we're in a tight spot, but only if we're in a tight spot. Give her the knives should any openings present itself while analyzing.
-
>"But of course!"
>Fly back, analyze the pattern. Stop time if we're in a tight spot, but only if we're in a tight spot. Give her the knives should any openings present itself while analyzing.
>"Fufufufuuu~"
>You take some time to jump back and analyze the pattern. The sakura leaves are falling towards you in series of four, but there's also leaves flying down from the right at left at an angle. You don't have a lot of trouble giving her knives and after a while, she declares a spellcard!
>Yuyuko yells "~Symbol "Dance of the Dead Butterflies"~"
>A lot of blue and red butterflies swarm around her. The blue ones fly towards you in big, spinning circles while the red ones aim towards you.
-
>Try to slip between the blue ones to escape the red ones. Keep up with the knifes!
-
>Try to slip between the blue ones to escape the red ones. Keep up with the knifes!
>You quickly float inbetween the blue ones, and quickly go out of the way when the red butterflies aim at you. They don't even follow you or anything, they just aim at your prior position... Is she cutting you slack? She doesn't seem nearly as strong as you remember...
>You keep on throwing your knives, and Yuyuko keeps on taking hits. Her spellcard is slowly drained, untill she declares another spellcard!
>Yuyuko yells once more: "Cherry Blossom Sign "Saigyou Cherry Blossom Blizzard"
>From somewhere, her purple fan appears behind her, shooting pink bullets that curve randomly and move at a very quick speed!
-
>Try to move so that the bullets curve behind us, keep up the knives. Time stop if she pulls something tricky.
-
>Try to move so that the bullets curve behind us, keep up the knives. Time stop if she pulls something tricky.
>You try moving up while still throwing knives, but the bullets coming from the left suddenly become a lot faster than those on the right!
>You instinctively stop time for a second to think up a better tactic. Stamina is now 92 %.
-
>Keep the knives going, no need to let the opportunity go to waste.
>Glance around, how bad things look to the right, left, above and below?
-
>Keep the knives going, no need to let the opportunity go to waste.
>Glance around, how bad things look to the right, left, above and below?
>You keep on throwing the knives, but suddenly you notice Yuyuko can still move! She's not firing any danmaku, though!
>"Ah, the Devil's Maid shows her true power! This is a lot more interesting than those knives~" Yuyuko says, and flies towards you.
>Some danmaku are still hanging, suspended in time. There's a huge emptiness right under where Yuyuko was before, though!
-
>"Consider it a nod to the might of the Ghost Princess!"
>Let's take that empty spot, preferably in a way that our knives coming at us won't be an issue.
>_
-
>"Consider it a nod to the might of the Ghost Princess!"
>Let's take that empty spot, preferably in a way that our knives coming at us won't be an issue.
>_
>Sakuya's note: Hey, you're not allowed to lead this game! Take some knives in the face!
>*Knifed*
>She smiles... : "How kind of you!"
>You float a bit downwards and move under Yuyuko. You manage to not flail yourself blindly into your own knives, fortunately.
-
>End that time-stopping once we're clear of the knives, and go back to knifing up Yuyuko.
-
>End that time-stopping once we're clear of the knives, and go back to knifing up Yuyuko.
>You end your time-stopping when you get behind Yuyuko, and start throwing some more knives. After a small while, Yuyuko's knocked down.
>The leftover cherry blossoms miss you completely, but aim at Marisa instead! Her tea's knocked out of her hands, but she flies upward before getting hit.
>"What're you doing, ze!? I've had to beat you before, but I'm tired now! Leave me out of this one!"
>In the midst of all this, you see a green flash behind you...
-
>Move to the side while looking back toward the flash.
-
>Move to the side while looking back toward the flash.
>You quickly hop to the side, and see Youmu cutting through the grass you were just standing!
>She rushes towards Yuyuko, and helps her get up.
>"Yuyuko-sama! What happened? Did she attack you, too?" she says
>"Hey, I didn't attack her, ze! She attacked me because I wanted information! The same happened to Sak'ya, ze!" Marisa says
>"What?" Youmu says... "Not again!?.. Why do you always insist on fighting people, Yuyuko-sama?"
>"But it's fun~" Yuyuko complains
>Youmu sighs...
-
>"No harm was done, save to Marisa's tea."
-
>"No harm was done, save to Marisa's tea."
>"Uuh.. I guess so.."Youmu says. "I'll be making you a new cup of tea, then"
>She speeds into the building in a green flash.
>"Soo, you wanted to know about the divine spirits, right?~" Yuyuko says.
-
>"If you would, Lady Saigyouji."
-
>"If you would, Lady Saigyouji."
>"Okay, so!" She jumps up and floats towards her chair. "Divine spirits are beings born from desires. In that way, they're in no way comparable to ghosts! Just so you know! They usually don't do anything except flying around, but apparently they've been wreaking havoc all over Gensokyo.. I really don't know any more than that! They're certainly not gathering at a certain shrine or anything!"
>Marisa suddenly jumps in: "Hey, that's more than you told me!"
>Yuyuko responds: "What, are you saying I'm biased? How dare you!"
>Yuyuko summons her fan again!
>"Ze, I didn't mean that at all! Calm down!" Marisa yells.
-
>"Please, please. There's no need to argue. I'm certain I just interrupted Lady Saigyouji before she could tell you more, Marisa."
>"So they are not gathering at a certain shrine. Why would they not want to do such a thing?"
-
>"Please, please. There's no need to argue. I'm certain I just interrupted Lady Saigyouji before she could tell you more, Marisa."
>"So they are not gathering at a certain shrine. Why would they not want to do such a thing?"
>"Yeeaah, I'm sure that's exactly what happened!" Marisa grunts.
>"What are you babbling about~ That is quite exactly what happened~.... Maybe..."
>"I'm sure they aren't all going there because someone is very desireful, or vengeful in any way or anything~"
>A milisecond after Yuyuko finished that sentence, the green flash, also known as Youmu, speeds into the garden while holding Marisa's cup of tea... How she can hold it while travelling so fast is a miracle...
>"Youmu~! You almost cut me off there! Be more wary of people's activities while you barge into their conversations!" Yuyuko says
>"S-sorry, Yuyuko-sama! I will, Yuyuko-sama!" she answers.
>"That's an odd way of reprimanding one's pupil.." Marisa whispers to you.
-
>Nod to Marisa.
>"And where wouldn't they be coming from, Lady Saigyouji?"
-
>Nod to Marisa.
>"And where wouldn't they be coming from, Lady Saigyouji?"
>You nod in agreement to Marisa.
>"Well, I told you that before, didn't I?~ No sense in repeating the past, is there?~ Nor is there fun in telling you who's the bad.. person right off the bat~"
>"Ze, stop talking in riddles, Yuyuko! You're making my mind spin!" Marisa says
>Youmu and Yuyuko laugh.
>"Ah, if that still bothers you, stay here for a few hundred more years. You'll learn to cope with it." Youmu says, blushing.
-
>"I think it would be quite fun if you told me, but very well. In the meantime, may I ask you a more private question?"
>Give meaningful glances toward Youmu and Marisa.
-
>"I think it would be quite fun if you told me, but very well. In the meantime, may I ask you a more private question?"
>Give meaningful glances toward Youmu and Marisa.
>"Then we do not agree... Oh well~" Yuyuko says
>"A private question? Oh, I see~ Sure~!" she answers
>"Yooumuu! Will you excuse us and make yourself useful in the garden~!"
>Youmu nods, and disappears in a green flash.
>You glance at Marisa in a meaningful way.... She doesn't notice, but once you start staring at her, she notices.
>"Ze, I'm not invited? All right then! I'll be off to the Shrine!"
>She grabs her broom for under the table and flies away towards the stairs.
-
>Once we are certain that everyone else is gone.
>"In asking this, I hope you would understand I would like it to be keep secret."
>Presuming she agrees: "Have you seen my Mistress, lately?"
-
>Once we are certain that everyone else is gone.
>"In asking this, I hope you would understand I would like it to be keep secret."
>Presuming she agrees: "Have you seen my Mistress, lately?"
>You wait untill the last of the ghost butlers return to the house, and then ask for Yuyuko's secrecy.
>"Ooh, a secret~! I won't tell anyone, I promise! Except Youmu~"
>"Your mistress, the Scarlet Devil? Yes, she was here, a few days ago. She was looking for some wine as a gift for a goddess. I lent her my finest bottle, but she hasn't returned it yet~"
-
>Does Remilia ever have anything to do with deities, as far as we know? Or even any respect for them?
>"Mmm. Did she say whom it was for?"
-
>Does Remilia ever have anything to do with deities, as far as we know? Or even any respect for them?
>"Mmm. Did she say whom it was for?"
>Not that you know of... She doesn't leave the mansion much, but a lot more now than before... You don't think she's ever gone beyond the Forest of Magic.
>The most accurate term for her interaction with anyone would be... disrespectful. She has a lack of respect for basically anyone that lives outside the SDM who is weaker than she is.
>"I think she said it was the Goddess of Makai.. I've never met her before, but Miss Scarlet would definitely fit inside that hellhole... Fufufufuuu~"
-
>"I do hope that was meant as a complement. How does one reach Makai? And, what could you tell me of this goddess?"
-
>"I do hope that was meant as a complement. How does one reach Makai? And, what could you tell me of this goddess?"
>"Well, she is among the elite of the devils, isn't she? Makai is the world of the devils, after all~" Yuyuko muses.
>"Hmm.. How to reach Makai.. I wonder if I know how to get there~ I'm sure Yukari would know~" she says
>"Ah, the goddess. I've heard her name is Shinki. She lived in this world a long time ago, but sealed herself by creating Makai back when the gods left this world. I've heard her daughter, Alice, stayed here in Gensokyo. Marisa might know where she lives~"
>Yuyuko stands up, and says "Uhm, so if that's all, can I get back to eating? I'm kind of hungryyyy~"
-
>Nod, and bow.
>"But of course, Lady Saigyouji, you've been exceedingly helpful. I only hope I was entertaining enough in turn."
-
>Nod, and bow.
>"But of course, Lady Saigyouji, you've been exceedingly helpful. I only hope I was entertaining enough in turn."
>You nod and bow. Yuyuko bows back to you.
>"Well, you've been more fun than that witch~ May you find what it is you seek~!"
-
>"And may you have a dinner to satisfy your desires."
>Depart!
-
>"And may you have a dinner to satisfy your desires."
>Depart!
>"Fufufufuuu~" Yuyuko laughs.
>You stand up, and float back into the mansion. You see the butler ghosts flooding back into the garden, and reach the stairs. When you reach them, Youmu appears besides you.
>"Ah, Izayoi, you're leaving already? May your voyage be fruitful, then!" she says.
>Parser's note: Where is basically everyone except Purv? I mean, he's good at writing and all, but I'd love a little different input..
-
>"Thank you, Konpaku. Perhaps you would accompany to the exit?"
-
>"Thank you, Konpaku. Perhaps you would accompany to the exit?"
>"Ah, I'd love to postpone my gardening duty for a while! If you'll excuse me for a second?"
>She walks up to a ghost, and whispers something to it, then walks back to you.
>"All right! Let us depart."
-
>Do so!
>"While loftier matters are suited for Lady Saigyouji, I think we can both agree that you are the one to ask about daily affairs. Has this whole affair with the spirits affected things here?"
-
>Do so!
>"While loftier matters are suited for Lady Saigyouji, I think we can both agree that you are the one to ask about daily affairs. Has this whole affair with the spirits affected things here?"
>You start heading down the stairs again. Spirits are still bustling, but when you look closer, they're the same types as the ones in the Human Village.. Might these be the divine spirits?
>Youmu grins, and says: "Oh, yes. They have always been living here, of course, but they started to become agressive about two weeks ago. They started stalking all the ghosts as well as me and Yuyuko-sama.
Then, a week ago, they started some kind of exodus downward, to Gensokyo. Yuyuko told me they were heading to a graveyard. Kind of ironic, I guess.."
-
>"And they've never been a problem before that?"
>Examine a divine spirit if we see one, so we can tell it from a proper ghost.
-
>"And they've never been a problem before that?"
>Examine a divine spirit if we see one, so we can tell it from a proper ghost.
>"Not on my shift.. And believe me, that's been some while!" Youmu jokes.
>You take a closer look at one of the divine spirits. This specimen is pink, and when you take a closer look at it, you see a small svastika imprinted on its forehead. Now that you know it's there, you can easily tell them from the actual ghosts. When you turn back to Youmu, however, the spirit still sticks to you.. They really do stalk you..
~Obtained a Divine Spirit 1x~
~This is one of the spirits that are bustling all over Gensokyo. This one seems rather docile...
-
>"...Can you tell me something about this one following me, perhaps?"
-
>"...Can you tell me something about this one following me, perhaps?"
>"Hmm.. I'm not sure.. From what Yuyuko told me, these creatures are born from everyone's desires, so perhaps this one was created from yours? That's all I could think of.." Youmu says, and shrugs.
-
>"I suppose that is possible."
>Glance at it again.
>"So, if it were harmed, what would happen to me?"
-
>"I suppose that is possible."
>Glance at it again.
>"So, if it were harmed, what would happen to me?"
>Youmu doesn't respond.
>You take another look at the creature. It floats in circles around you.
>"I wouldn't really know.. I don't think it would do a whole lot to you. Since there's this many of them, I guess they all represent a small part of your desires. I don't know how these creatures could be harmed, though... They seem fairly resilient."
-
>"I presume, then, that you've tried danmaku on them. I expect that's the worst thing they'll have to deal with. Is it harmful to have one following? Or many?"
-
>"I presume, then, that you've tried danmaku on them. I expect that's the worst thing they'll have to deal with. Is it harmful to have one following? Or many?"
>"I have tried to shoo them away using my sword, but it was to no avail. If danmaku doesn't even harm them, I don't see what would." Youmu answers
>"I haven't noticed any negative side-effects as of yet... On the contrary, I have felt better when gathering a lot of them around me. When I collected a bunch of them, they started to glow and turned into a glowing ball entering me and relieving me of my tiredness. They still seem suspicious to me, leaving the Netherworld in such groups, but they don't seem harmful either.." she says
-
>"What happened to the ball afterward? Did it just fade away?"
-
>"What happened to the ball afterward? Did it just fade away?"
>"No, it just went into me in some way and stayed there, as if it had always been a part of me..." she says.
>Youmu shivers.. "That's still creepy.."
-
>"So it's there, right now? Where, precisely?"
>Look her over, can we notice any changes?
-
>"So it's there, right now? Where, precisely?"
>Look her over, can we notice any changes?
>"I think it went back into my heart, as all desires come from the heart, no?" Youmu says.
>You take another look at her. There is a faint pink glow, coming from about the height of her heart...
>"What is it? Did you see something?" she asks.
-
>"A glow, right here."
>Hover finger over her heart.
>"What do you suppose it means?"
-
>"A glow, right here."
>Hover finger over her heart.
>"What do you suppose it means?"
>Youpoint your finger over the left side of her non-existent bust.
>"It's glowing? Oooah! It is glowing indeed! Soo scary~!" Youmu says
>"I don't know. These creatures are a different species from ghosts entirely, so I'm as lost as you are.. All I know is that that glow is pretty creepy.." she answers
-
>"I have the suspicion that if these things are born from desires, it is likely not a good idea to let them get too strong a hold on you. In your case, I imagine it's fine, but I wouldn't go around doing that sort of thing carelessly until we understand them better. Perhaps I will bother Patchouli about it later."
-
>"I have the suspicion that if these things are born from desires, it is likely not a good idea to let them get too strong a hold on you. In your case, I imagine it's fine, but I wouldn't go around doing that sort of thing carelessly until we understand them better. Perhaps I will bother Patchouli about it later."
>"That does sound sensible... Patchouli might know more about it indeed" Youmu complies.
-
>"Do be careful around them."
>If Youmu has nothing more to say, travel onward toward the gate and depart, and consider where other major sites of interest are in relation to our current location.
-
>"Do be careful around them."
>If Youmu has nothing more to say, travel onward toward the gate and depart, and consider where other major sites of interest are in relation to our current location.
>"I will. Have a good trip!" she says, and starts flying back up the stairs.
>You descend the last part of the stairs, and appear in the sky once more. You can see the Prismriver Mansion, somewhere beneath you. You can see the Forest of Magic from here too, and you can see smoke coming from the trees somewhere to the left. Behind you, you notice the majestic Youkai Mountain. Somewhere along the horizon, the Misty Lake is also visible. To the right, you see the Sanzu river.
-
>Do we have any idea where a portal to Makai might be located?
>If not, start back toward the mansion. If we're lucky, maybe Mistress is already back.
-
>Do we have any idea where a portal to Makai might be located?
>If not, start back toward the mansion. If we're lucky, maybe Mistress is already back.
>All Yuyuko said was that Yukari might know.. Not that that?s actually an option... You have no other leads on Makai.
>You start flying back towards the Misty Lake over the Forest. You can see Kirisame-san's house from here, along with another smokestack, presumably from the pupetteer's house. Kourindou is slighty west from here.
-
>What do we know about Alice and Kourindou's inhabitants?
-
>What do we know about Alice and Kourindou's inhabitants?
>Alice.. She is, as far as you know, a human turned youkai by magic. She uses magic to infuse dolls to do her bidding, and her dream is to create a sentient doll.
>Thinking about Alice, didn't Yuyuko mention her?
>Rinnosuke Morichika is Kourindou's owner. He also has an assistant, a bird youkai whose name you don't remember.
-
>Take a detour toward Alice's place.
-
>Take a detour toward Alice's place.
>You start flying downwards and reach Alice's house. You see one of her dolls guarding the front door, hanging from the roof. It's wearing a deep purple dress.
-
>Do we know of any procedures for approaching Alice's house without setting off the dolls?
>If not, simply land and approach normally. Should it try anything, dodge.
-
>Do we know of any procedures for approaching Alice's house without setting off the dolls?
>If not, simply land and approach normally. Should it try anything, dodge.
>You wouldn't know; you haven't ever been inside.
>You land in front of the doll. It suddenly speaks to you with a very low, manly-sounding voice..
>"Halt! Who goes there? Alice doesn't like having strangers barge in!"
-
>"I am Sakuya Izayoi, and I would like to speak with Alice, please."
-
>"I am Sakuya Izayoi, and I would like to speak with Alice, please."
>"Subject identified as.. Izayoi Sakuya. 1 'Izayoi Sakuya' found in database. Head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she controls time and space to clean up the mansion and visits the Human Village and Kourindou regularily. Known for beating up Alice in the Eternal Winter incident. Difficulty level: Medium, but Extreme if in combination with Remilia Scarlet. Audience with Alice: possible" it blabbers.
>What is this thing saying? It sounds like some sort of automaton..
>The door opens, and Alice herself comes out.
>"Ah, Sakuya! What do you think of Hourai? Nitori helped me program a whole database of information about Gensokyo's denizens so I get warned if someone agressive comes to visit! Marvelous, isn't it?" Alice says, beaming with pride.
-
>"It is a marvel of of craftwork."
>For a certain definition of marvel, anyways.
>"May I have a bit of your time? I would like to ask you some things."
-
>"It is a marvel of of craftwork."
>For a certain definition of marvel, anyways.
>"May I have a bit of your time? I would like to ask you some things."
>"Thank you! It took me a while, but I think the result is really quite something, if I say so myself!" Alice says.
>Ugh, is she really expecting you to be so impressed?
>"Oh, that's what you were here for? Sure! I didn't really have any plans untill tonight.." she says.
-
>"Forgive me for being forward, but as I understand, you have some connections to Makai?"
>Do we still have that spirit following is?
-
>"Forgive me for being forward, but as I understand, you have some connections to Makai?"
>Do we still have that spirit following is?
>"Wow.. Eh, yes! I was born in Makai. Shinki is my mother, you see. But I haven't seen her in years... But what could you want in Makai?"
>It's still floating around you, but it flies through you now and then.
-
>Should we show her the note? It might help us get our point across.
-
>Should we show her the note? It might help us get our point across.
>You think about showing her the note, but then you remember it didn't actually say anything about Makai.
-
>"It is private business, I am afraid. It would be a difficulty if I went into too much detail. But, let us say that I wish to go there."
-
>"It is private business, I am afraid. It would be a difficulty if I went into too much detail. But, let us say that I wish to go there."
>"You want to go.. there? I think I can do that for you... but I'd like something in return.."
>Alice sighs, and says: "I'll help you, and even go with you, if you help me explain the situation to my mom... See, I kinda left Makai without any notice a long time ago, back when I was still a child. I took my mother's Grimoire without permission after I'd been beaten by some ghostly lady.. I didn't beat her, though, and then I found this portal to Gensokyo. I still know where the portal is, though. Does that sound like a fair deal to you?"
-
>"I should be able to assist with this. In turn, I would like to know about the Goddess of Makai."
-
>"I should be able to assist with this. In turn, I would like to know about the Goddess of Makai."
>"Thanks... but you would like to know some more about mom? Well, before we start on that, let me get you some tea. You seem a bit worn out.. What are all those flower petals on your clothes?"
-
>"I've been travelling a bit. Some tea would be lovely."
>Mom? Hmmm. Has Alice ever struck us as the demigod type?
-
>"I've been travelling a bit. Some tea would be lovely."
>Mom? Hmmm. Has Alice ever struck us as the demigod type?
>"That's settled, then!" Alice says, and she walks back into the house, leaving the door open.
>The hanged doll follows her into the house.
>Not really.. She has her dolls fight for her, so she probably wouldn't be so strong on her own.
-
>Follow her in.
>"You've never struck me as one of divine blood, to be a little frank. I assume you favor you other parent?"
-
>Follow her in.
>"You've never struck me as one of divine blood, to be a little frank. I assume you favor you other parent?"
>You follow her inside. She has a cosy living room, with some comfortable-looking seats and a long table. The living room leads right through to the kitchen, and there's also a door to the left. There's a tea pot on the table with some tea cups and a sugar bowl.
>"Oh, ehehehe.." She grins, and says: "She's not actually my mom. She created me, that's true, but I am not actually related to her. She always did treat me as her daughter, and I treated her as my mom, but...."
>She walks to the table, and pours in tea for you two.
>"If you want some sugar, go ahead" she says.
-
>Do we typically take sugar? If so, then go ahead.
>"Ah, I did not know. I expect she did not approve of your coming here?"
-
>Do we typically take sugar? If so, then go ahead.
>"Ah, I did not know. I expect she did not approve of your coming here?"
>You prefer having sugar while drinking tea at the mansion, so you go ahead and pour a little into your cup.
>"Well, as I said, it was kind of an accidental happening. One thing led to another, I'd already grabbed the book and then I just found that portal and thought it would be the perfect getaway... but lately, I've been missing my mom, Yumeko, and even those ever-quibbling sisters a lot. I didn't dare to just go back, because... well, I stole her Grimoire, which is where she writes down all her spells and a map of Makai, and she isn't exactly a forgiving mother. She's like, the epitome of the kind of mom that punishes her daughter for sneaking out of the house without permission... You wouldn't mind backing me up, would you?"
-
>"I shall do my best, though I am not certain how effective I can be against a goddess."
>Oh false modesty... If Marisa can deal with one, then most certainly we can do better~
-
>"I shall do my best, though I am not certain how effective I can be against a goddess."
>Oh false modesty... If Marisa can deal with one, then most certainly we can do better~
>"I didn't mean fighting, I meant verbally" she says, looking shocked. "I don't think you'd stand a chance against her when she's angry.."
>Ahaha, does she really think an ordinary black witch is more powerful than a perfect and elegant maid?
>You get the sudden urge to laugh franctically.
-
>Let's keep the laugh to an appreciative chuckle toward Alice.
>"As did I, of course."
>Enjoy the tea.
>"What preparations will you need to make?"
-
>Let's keep the laugh to an appreciative chuckle toward Alice.
>"As did I, of course."
>Enjoy the tea.
>"What preparations will you need to make?"
>You chuckle, and Alice chimes in. Is her mother really that strong?
>When you tell her that's what you meant all along, she starts laughing even louder.
>You chucklingly try to enjoy the tea, but you accidentily spill some on the floor..
>"Eheee-hee.. Okay, I'm good again..." Alice says. "I won't need a whole lot.. I'll need to get the Grimoire and prepare a set of dolls, and of course, clean that" she answers, looking downward..
-
>Set the cup aside.
>"Allow me."
>Surely we keep a cloth, employ it at once! If not, freeze time and get one.
-
>Set the cup aside.
>"Allow me."
>Surely we keep a cloth, employ it at once! If not, freeze time and get one.
>You set your cup aside, and Alice nods as you tell her you'll take care of it yourself.
>Of course you do. Your uniform has lots of pockets. Where else would you keep the knives?
>You grab the cloth, and clean up the splash. untill it shines as new.
>"Wow, you really are as good as I've heard! I can see my face in there, and another time in the reflection of the window on there!" Alice notices in awe.
-
>Put cloth away, and resume our tea if there is any left.
>"My mistress warrants no less. Speaking of such, please prepare. I need to return to the mansion and relay a few messages, then I shall meet you here."
>Did we tell Meiling about Remilia missing, or just Patchouli?
-
>Put cloth away, and resume our tea if there is any left.
>"My mistress warrants no less. Speaking of such, please prepare. I need to return to the mansion and relay a few messages, then I shall meet you here."
>Did we tell Meiling about Remilia missing, or just Patchouli?
>You put the cloth back in your uniform and finish your tea. It's not as good as the tea at the Mansion, but it's not bad, either.
>"I guess so. All right, I'll go find everything I need, you do what you need to do, and we'll meet at Mayohiga, okay? That's where the portal is." Alice responds.
>Just Patchouli, you left Meiling to her morning training.
-
>We know the way to Mayohiga, yes?
>"Very well."
-
>We know the way to Mayohiga, yes?
>"Very well."
>Yes, it's a small village near the shrine.
>"All right then, see ya!"
>Alice opens the door to the left and walks up the stairs.
-
>Finish tea, and let ourselves out.
>Return back to the mansion, assuming nothing happens of note.
-
>Finish tea, and let ourselves out.
>Return back to the mansion, assuming nothing happens of note.
>You finish your tea, and leave Alice's house.
>Afterwards, you return to the mansion, flying over the forest and the lake. You see Cirno playing with the Three Mischievous Fairies; they seem to be friends again. You also notice a girl with a straw hat wandering around on the ice. Nothing special happens otherwise, as you arrive at the gate, where you find Meiling.. well, asleep.
-
>Frown.
>"Oh dear heaven they've kidnapped the young mistress!"
-
>Frown.
>"Oh dear heaven they've kidnapped the young mistress!"
>You frown harshly at Meiling.. Doesn't she know anything about guarding...?
>"Wha-whaaa-whaat!? They captured Remilia? When did this happen? Why didn't I notice they came throug- no wait they didn't come through here, I'm sure of it. I saw her leave a few days ago! Where have you been all this time? What is going on?"
>Meiling looks completely puzzled.
-
>What's Flandre's proper title?
>"Ah good, you are awake. Who has pass through here since I left?"
-
>What's Flandre's proper title?
>"Ah good, you are awake. Who has pass through here since I left?"
>You usually entitle her as 'Little Mistress', or just 'Flan' at less honorific occasions.
>"Ehm.. Let me think.. Oh, right! Some pink-haired lady came here yesterday, complaining because our Mistress alledgedly beat her up. She didn't seem like a bad person, so we gave her a room. She arrived shortly after you left, and she's been staying here ever since. I think her name was Sara?" Meiling answers.
-
>Sara...Do we recall anyone with that name having fought Lady Remilia?
-
>You've never heard of her before. Her name doesn't sound very Gensokian, either.
-
>"Interesting. I shall have to go see her. Things have been peaceful otherwise?"
-
>"Interesting. I shall have to go see her. Things have been peaceful otherwise?"
>"All right! Well, yes, nothing else has really happened." Meiling answers
>"Do you need anything else? You should take an afternoon off, you look kind of beat up.. I'll go look for Remilia while you talk to Sara. Have you uncovered any leads onto that?" she asks.
-
>"I'm fine, and we need you to keep an eye on the mansion and make sure the Little Mistress remains safe. I do have some leads to follow, so you may rest assured I have not been reduced to wandering blindly. Mistress will be found soon. Thank you for the offer, however."
>"Additionally, have you seen many of these things around?"
>Nod toward our stalker spirit.
-
>"I'm fine, and we need you to keep an eye on the mansion and make sure the Little Mistress remains safe. I do have some leads to follow, so you may rest assured I have not been reduced to wandering blindly. Mistress will be found soon. Thank you for the offer, however."
>"Additionally, have you seen many of these things around?"
>Nod toward our stalker spirit.
>"Aww, I really wanted to get out for a change.. Well, I guess you got it all covered...
>You nod towards the spirit stalking you, and notice it slipping out of you.
>"Huh? Another one? They're all floating around the clock tower! I'll get it for you!" Meiling says, while moving into a fighting stance.
-
>Do we know what would happen if she did get it?
>"Has Patchouli had anything to say about the things?"
-
>Do we know what would happen if she did get it?
>"Has Patchouli had anything to say about the things?"
>You aren't sure yet, but it would probably be better to ask Patchy first.
>"Not yet, but last time I checked, she was working on it. She didn't seem too corncerned about them, though. I think they're pretty suspicious, though.." Meiling says.
-
>"As do I. I suspect I'll look into it after talking to this Sara person. Where is she right now?"
>Once directions are gotten, head inside.
-
>"As do I. I suspect I'll look into it after talking to this Sara person. Where is she right now?"
>Once directions are gotten, head inside.
>"Oh, we gave her one of the guest rooms on the second floor. You should be able to find her there." Meiling says.
>You head through the gate, and into the mansion. Fairy maids are fluttering around as usual. There's doors to the right and the left, leading to bedrooms, and a short hallway into the living room. There's also stairs down, to the Library, and stairs up, to the Clock Tower.
-
>Head upstairs, toward the guest rooms.
>Inspect the job that the faeries have done in our absence along the way.
-
>Head upstairs, toward the guest rooms.
>Inspect the job that the faeries have done in our absence along the way.
>You head upstairs, and notice a young-looking girl with pink hair and a red dress, walking around angrily.
>"What is this madness? I get beat up by a vampire, go to her castle only to be taken captive by another gatekeeper... I should be much stronger than this..."
>The fairies have done a... adequate job. Nothing's absolutely sparkling-clean, but at least it looks better than Alice's place.
-
>Oh good, no punishments. Punishing faeries is typically like making a puppy cry.
>"We have much worse places to put you, if that is what you'd prefer. Would you like to be locked in the attic?"
-
>Oh good, no punishments. Punishing faeries is typically like making a puppy cry.
>"We have much worse places to put you, if that is what you'd prefer. Would you like to be locked in the attic?"
>Fairies usually don't take well to punishments...
>"Ah? Who's that?" the girl says, confusedly.
>She looks around, sees you and says: "Y-you can't be serious! I was just kidding!"
-
>"Are you certain? I'd hate to leave you unsatisfied. Speaking of such, what brings you here?"
-
>"Are you certain? I'd hate to leave you unsatisfied. Speaking of such, what brings you here?"
>"N-nooo! I don't mind at all!" she says. She looks pretty scared..
>"Well, that mistress of yours beat me up when I was just floating around guarding the gate, and THEN she's suddenly sorry and tells me to go here. It's not like those fairies have treated me bad, but that's not normal, is it?" she answers
-
>"I imagine you were in her way. I would be pleased she took the time to offer you her hospitality afterward."
-
>"I imagine you were in her way. I would be pleased she took the time to offer you her hospitality afterward."
>"Bu-huu-hut.. That's so unfair! I'm supposed to guard the place! What kind of guard am I, then?" she says.
-
>"And there are some people who are possessed of a particular kind of importance whose entry you simply do not block. You certainly wouldn't keep your goddess from passing, would you? It is much the same thing."
>"You have found your accommodations satisfactory, I hope? The meals have been to your liking?"
-
>"And there are some people who are possessed of a particular kind of importance whose entry you simply do not block. You certainly wouldn't keep your goddess from passing, would you? It is much the same thing."
>"You have found your accommodations satisfactory, I hope? The meals have been to your liking?"
>"Hmm.. I guess not.. There's so much Shinki didn't teach me.... How do you know about her, anyways? She is quite reclusive..." Sara says
>"Ooh, yes! Much better than what I'm used to in Makai. I especially liked the special tea! It made some sort of feeling remain in my mouth for the rest of te morning!"
-
>Special tea? Does this sound familiar?
>"It's my duty to know these kinds of things. What else can you tell me about your Makai?"
-
>Special tea? Does this sound familiar?
>"It's my duty to know these kinds of things. What else can you tell me about your Makai?"
>She couldn't be talking about Remilia's poisonous tea, could she?
>"It's your duty?" Sara asks, confused.
>"Well, Makai is a world where demons live. It's air is venomous to most humans, but it's helpful for learning magic. It's terrain is very varied, from the Icy Fields to the Neon Desert, and the ruins to the Pandemonium Fortress and the Succubus mansion. Are you planning on visiting, too?"
-
>It would be a problem if she were served that. Someone shall have to be spoken to.
>Nod. "I am expected to have proper knowledge of such things, yes. As for visiting, it may be necessary. Now, could you tell me a little of this goddess, Shinki I believe?"
-
>It would be a problem if she were served that. Someone shall have to be spoken to.
>Nod. "I am expected to have proper knowledge of such things, yes. As for visiting, it may be necessary. Now, could you tell me a little of this goddess, Shinki I believe?"
>You'll have to find the person serving poisonous tea...
>You nod, answer her and ask about Shinki.
>"Eeh, I wonder if I should tell you all this, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt, right? Shinki is the creator of Makai and most things inside it. She lives in the Pandemonium fortress with her maid, Yumeko and her demon staff. She's quite severe, and some people would call her a tyrant, but she's really nice! She also had a daughter, but she disappeared one day. She mourned her for a whole year..."
-
>Nod.
>"Let us say I were to visit, what should I keep in mind?"
-
>Nod.
>"Let us say I were to visit, what should I keep in mind?"
>You nod, and ask for specific directions.
>"Well, if you're able to find my friend Louise, who lives in a house at the other side of the portal. If you tell her I sent you, she'll probably help you get to Pandemonium"
-
>"Mentioning you to her would be enough?"
-
>"Mentioning you to her would be enough?"
>"Of course! Just because we're demons doesn't mean we're mean to visitors! Besides, she's my girlfriend!" Sara mentions
-
>"Very well. Is there anything we can do for you while you stay with us?"
-
>"Very well. Is there anything we can do for you while you stay with us?"
>"Not really, the beds here are really comfy sooo~"
>Sara yawns, and drops herself onto one of the beds standing in the room.
>"Have fun in Makai!" she murmurs.
-
>Well if mistress invited her...
>Go to the kitchen, and see if we can find out why she's getting poisoned tea.
-
>Well if mistress invited her...
>Go to the kitchen, and see if we can find out why she's getting poisoned tea.
>..she wouldn't do any harm, right?
>You head downstairs to the main kitchen. Fairiy maids are fluttering around everywhere, clumsily cooking.
>One of them flies up to you: "Ah! Sakuya-sama! We're delighted to have you visiting! How may we help you?"
-
>"Our guest, Sara. What tea has she been given since she started staying here?"
-
>"Our guest, Sara. What tea has she been given since she started staying here?"
>"Uh-oh!" the fairy says, and suddenly, the fairies start flying around as flies, yelling at eachother.
>You hear all sorts of whispers, such as: "We should've never let her work here!" and "Where did she go? Where is she? Find her before lady Sakuya discovers what happened!" From all sides, behind and in front, fairies start swarming, and it's not just the fairy cooks, but also the maids. You also notice a small girl hiding in a corner, wearing a red ribbon.
-
>"You there,"
>Gesture toward the Red Ribbon'd faerie.
>Come here."
-
>"You there,"
>Gesture toward the Red Ribbon'd faerie.
>Come here."
>The fairies suddenly freeze, and form a barrier between you and Red Ribbon. Some of them start yelling: "Oh no! She found her!" and "Nooo! Medi-chan!" You notice she looks different for a fairy. She has weird gothic-esque black and red clothes. It would be nice for an outfit for the Scarlet Devil Mansion, but you didn't actually tell them any of that... Other than that, there's a miniature version of her flying around her! You think you've seen her before...
>You gesture towards Red Ribbon, and ask her to come to you.
>She responds in a really childish voice:"The maid? Is this your house? Oh no, I think I got into trouble again..."
-
>"I think you may have. You used to hide around the lily fields, did you not?"
-
>"I think you may have. You used to hide around the lily fields, did you not?"
>The little girl sighs, and says:"I just to live there, but the ghosts were just too noisy out there! So I started wandering around, when I got to the gate of this huge mansion. One of the maids saw me flying around and she let me in, but then she tricked me into being mischievous by poisoning the tea... I'm so sorry, miss maid-san!"
>From the audience of fairies, you hear a lot of "oooh!"'s and "aaah!"'s
-
>"And which maid would that be, who let you in and tricked you?"
-
>"And which maid would that be, who let you in and tricked you?"
>Medicine and her little doll look around the kitchen, but they don't seem to find anything.
>"Wha? Where'd she go? She was a pretty weird fairy, with those huge ears and no wings..." Medicine says.
>The little doll comes closer to Medicine, and seems to say something, but you can't make out any words.
>"What? That's a rabbit? She tricked me again!?" Medicine yells.
>The fairy crowd goes wild! They sure enjoy drama!
-
>"Ahem."
>If we've done our job right, this will get their attention.
>"Who saw the rabbit. Show of hands, please?"
-
>"Ahem."
>If we've done our job right, this will get their attention.
>"Who saw the rabbit. Show of hands, please?"
>A choir of fairies yell 'What is it, Sakuya-san?" in all sorts of pitched voices. They actually sound really good together! Who knew fairies could sing so well?
>None of the fairies raise their hands at first, backing away slowly untill you notice Tewi trying and failing to hide under her hands. She notices the fairies have left her and makes a beeline for the nearest door, yelling "Kyaaa!"
Parser's note: Even though I haven't been adding Quests to this RPG, I think it would be a good idea to do so. The things left to do are getting a bit cluttered. I'd like your (Oh, I mean Purv's) opinion on this, too.
-
>Timestop, and then move right in front of her.
>If this works out right, she'll have no way to go but forward, and right into us, wherein we'll snag us that there rabbit.
As for quests, that would generally be a good idea, most Text Adventures have them, even mine.
And the Z-Machine series is the benchmark that all Text Adventures here try to measure up to.

>You freeze time to stop her from reaching the door before you do, and resume time afterwards. She slams into you, but you remain steady and grab her by her rabbit ears. She struggles wildly, but you are a lot stronger.
>Quests:
>Gate to the Demon World:
-Remilia has disappeared, and left a note saying 'fate is out of whack'
-You've inquired with Patchouli and Koakuma, and she seems to have left for Makai.
-You've met with Yukari Yakumo at Hakurei Shrine, and she seems to know something about it. She also has the power to conjure a portal to Makai.
-You've visited Yuyuko in Hakugyokurou, and she told you Remilia visited lately, to lend a bottle of wine as a gift for the Goddess of Makai, Shinki. She also told you Alice Margatroid is her daughter
-You've visited Alice, and made a deal with her. The poor girl left Makai years ago, stealing her Mother's Grimoire and leaving accidentily. You promised to defend Alice's case, and Alice will lead you to Makai. She asked you to meet at Mayohiga, the apparitional village.
>Not ghosts, divine spirits!
-You have visited the Human Village, only to find it under attack by ghosts, but they seemed a little different. You agreed with Fujiwara no Mokou to head over to Hakugyokurou and visit Yuyuko
-You weren't able to take Mokou into Hakugyokurou, but you have gained information about the ghosts from Yuyuko. She is not responsible for this accident; these are actually divine spirits, beings born from desire. Things got pretty bad there, though; even the Yama herself came to reprimand the Ghostly Lady. Some of them seem more helpful than hurtful, though they're still mischievous. One has become your personal stalker
-You still need to ask Patchouli about them.
>Oh my gourd!
-When you arrived at Hakurei Shrine, Suika told you her magic gourd has disappeared!
>Poisonous tricks?
-A guest at the SDM was served poisonous tea! Luckily, she was a youkai, but this is still not a trifle!
-Medicine Melancholy, the poisonous doll tsukumogami, was tricked by someone to poison the SDM's tea.
-That someone turned out to be no other than Tewi Inaba, the trickster rabbit. You've managed to catch her before she got away.
-
>"Hello, you."
>Be ready to give her a good jerk and tug her off her feet if she tries something silly like kicking us or danmaku.
-
>"Hello, you."
>Be ready to give her a good jerk and tug her off her feet if she tries something silly like kicking us or danmaku.
>You speak to her, but she only answers by murmuring angrily.
>She tries to slam you with her tail, but you pull her away before it hits you.
>Medicine walks towards you and asks: "You're not going to hurt me, right? I was tricked into poisoning the tea by that no-good rabbit!"
-
>"I think I can let you off this time, Medicine."
>Turn the glare toward Tewi
>"But as for you...I am afraid I couldn't hear you."
-
>"I think I can let you off this time, Medicine."
>Turn the glare toward Tewi
>"But as for you...I am afraid I couldn't hear you."
>"Th-thank you! I'm going to play some more with the fairies now! So sorry for bothering you, Sakuya-san!" Medicine says, and floats through the door leading to the main hall.
>You glare at the trickster rabbit, and she gulps.
>"I just said I had a perfectly reasonable explanation for the going ons here. As all the fairies here know, Medicine-chan is the one truly responsible for this. I was just wandering around here, when she asked me to help set up a prank. She didn't actually tell me she was going to use me as a scapegoat" Tewi says, speaking eloquently, but with gritted teeth.
>The fairy crowd suddenly goes silent.
-
>Look to the crowd.
>"Perhaps one of you would like to tell me which story is the correct one?"
-
>Look to the crowd.
>"Perhaps one of you would like to tell me which story is the correct one?"
>The crowd screams "Medi-chan!" as if it really were a choir. Who trained them in this way?
-
>Glance to Tewi.
>"Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. Now, what are we going to do about this situation?"
-
>Glance to Tewi.
>"Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. Now, what are we going to do about this situation?"
>You glance at Tewi again, and she stutters:"N-no, you've got it all wrong! It was all Miss Eirin?s plan. She needed the Mansion?s inhabitants out of the way so they could, ehmm, ehm.. No wait, that wasn?t it.. Oh no!"
>She starts stressing, hitting herself on the head with her tail.
-
>How is a rabbit hitting herself on the head with those nubby superfluous tails they have?
>"Perhaps we could let the Little Mistress play with you for awhile?"
-
>How is a rabbit hitting herself on the head with those nubby superfluous tails they have?
>"Perhaps we could let the Little Mistress play with you for awhile?"
>She is a youkai rabbit, of course. They have very long tails. It is a symbol of their worth to youkai rabbit society.
>"Little Mistress? That sounds fun! Where is she?" Tewi answers, oddly excited.
-
>"The basement."
-
>"The basement."
>"Oh, so that's where your playroom is? I figured it had to be somewhere, but I hadn't gone downwards yet. I hope you don't mind if I go there immediately as my punishment?" the rabbit answers.
-
>How often does Flandre break her toys these days?
>"Right this way."
>Lead her!
-
>How often does Flandre break her toys these days?
>"Right this way."
>Lead her!
>She used to break most of them within one day, but she hasn't had any in quite a while. She probably won't even last more than 12 hours.
>"All right!" Tewi says, faking her enthousiasm.
>You lead her down the stairs, through the Library and to the Basement door. It was reinforced with a magic barrier placed by Patchouli last time Flandre got out, but you can still see the stairs behind them. They go on for quite a while, so you can?t actually see the bottom from up here.
>"Whoa! That's the basement? It's so dark..." she notices.
>Patchouli appears from behind one of the bookcases, and she seems intrigued by what's going on. "I thought I taught you to be a cat, and not a leader of a wolf-pack, Sakuya?"
-
>"And I recall a time when you it wasn't an annual event when you left library. As such, I feel I must honor the special occasion. What may I do for you?"
-
>"And I recall a time when you it wasn't an annual event when you left library. As such, I feel I must honor the special occasion. What may I do for you?"
Parser's note: Oh Purv, why hast thine eloquency left you? I am sorry for your loss...
>"That was a long time ago, and even then, I wasn't the only cold one. I merely heard some noise in my library, and decided to listen in. T'seems that miss Inaba here wants to play with the Little Mistress? That seems quite exciting. Would you mind if I joined this.. rather unusually enthousiastic crowd of minions?"
-
Purvis' note: I'm you fuck dylexic ;_;
>"I would be all too happy to let you deal with the rest of this."
-
Purvis' note: I'm you fuck dylexic ;_;
>"I would be all too happy to let you deal with the rest of this."
Parser's note: Really? I wouldn't have thought so..
>"I would be more than glad to show her the way down. But if you are here, you must've discovered something about Remilia's whereabouts, methinks?"
-
>Nod.
>"Yes. I would like to talk with you about it, after we deal with our intruder."
>Let Patchy have the rabbit. No need to gossip in front of her.
-
>Nod.
>"Yes. I would like to talk with you about it, after we deal with our intruder."
>Let Patchy have the rabbit. No need to gossip in front of her.
"We wouldn't want any rabbits finding out our plans, would we? Those lunatics..."
>Patchouli grabs Tewi by the tail, and leads her to the gate.
>She murmurs some words, and the barrier disappears. They walk through, and you hear Patchouli yell: "Flan~! I've found a new playmate for you!"
>You hear the Little Mistress yell like she always does when she's excited, and Tewi screaming loudly.. The fairies fly away in agony.
>Patchouli walks up the stairs again, and says:"Now, that that is taken care of... Koakuma!"
>Koakuma comes rushing towards you. "Koakuma, if you will make us some tea.. Unpoisoned, preferably..."
>Koakuma nods, and runs back to the kitchen.
-
>"As for Mistress, it seems she has found reason to visit the Goddess of Makai, after visiting the Princess of the Netherworld."
-
>"As for Mistress, it seems she has found reason to visit the Goddess of Makai, after visiting the Princess of the Netherworld."
>"Saigyouji-sama? You went all the way there? That is an interesting development..."
>Patchouli walks over to a nearby bookcase, and grabs a book from the bookcase that seems to be made out of glass.
>"I have been doing some research of my own, and I've come to the conclusion I'm going to have to join you on your journey to Makai. The miasma clouding the world of the Demons is poisonous for humans of non-magician descent. It is ever more poisonous than Tewi's little prank.."
>You still hear the occasional high-pitched scream from miss Inaba.
-
>"Do have your assist let the rabbit out after a proper time, then."
>Frown.
>"As well, what can you tell me about this thing?" Motion toward the divine spirit.
-
>"Do have your assist let the rabbit out after a proper time, then."
>Frown.
>"As well, what can you tell me about this thing?" Motion toward the divine spirit.
>You frown noticably.
>"I assure you she will remain at least somewhat alive."
>Koakuma arrives with the tea. You don't smell any poison, luckily. She places the cups and sugar on one of Patchouli's many empty studying tables, and pulls the chairs aside for you.
>Patchouli takes a seat, and sips from her tea.
>"Ah, it seems you have also picked up one of the Spirits of the Ten Desires. This one seems to be a creature of wrath. How fitting.." Patchouli mentions.
-
>Have a seat.
>"Please elaborate. It seems they have become quite common. In particular, what effects do they have on people?"
-
>Have a seat.
>"Please elaborate. It seems they have become quite common. In particular, what effects do they have on people?"
>You sit down on the seat. It's not really a comfortable chair, because Patchouli doesn't care much for comfort.
>"Their effects are mostly enhanced desires. Have you experienced any enhanced anger yet?"
-
>"Not that I've noticed."
-
>"Not that I've noticed."
>"I suppose that should be considered a good thing, right? Where did you find this one?" Patchouli asks.
-
>"It followed me out of Hakugyokurou. There's quite a lot of them there. Should I be worried about it's tendency to try and swoop through me?"
-
>"It followed me out of Hakugyokurou. There's quite a lot of them there. Should I be worried about it's tendency to try and swoop through me?"
>"As far as I've learned, they will only be harmful in big numbers. Like this, they're only cute." Patchouli says, smiling.
-
>Nod.
>"Let us say I do attract a large number. How should I deal with them?"
-
>Nod.
>"Let us say I do attract a large number. How should I deal with them?"
>You nod at Patchouli, and she smiles even wider...
>"Unfortunately, I haven't found any way to easily get rid of them. The only possible way of ridding yourself of them would be to let out your wrath in a place or on a person that wouldn't harm you."
-
>"I suspect that will happen by the time the day is out."
-
>"I suspect that will happen by the time the day is out."
>"Just be sure to not let it out on Miss Shinki. She does not seem to be the kind type." Patchouli says.
>"Have you found any hints to the whereabouts of Makai, too?"
-
>"I have arranged for a guide. In the meantime, can you tell me what to expect there?"
-
>"I have arranged for a guide. In the meantime, can you tell me what to expect there?"
>"Ah, you have managed to find someone who knows her way? Did you manage to persuade that gateguard?"
>"Except for the miasma, there are the Ruins of Vina, the Temple of the Fallen, some frozen fields and Shinki's frozen fortress, aptly named Pandemonium. Demons live everywhere in there, and some of my books tell me there are multiple gods living there. They do contradict a lot, so I might as well be wrong and it could just be a world of grassy fields" Patchouli jokes.
-
>"So in short, it's about as dangerous as I expected it was going to be."
-
>"So in short, it's about as dangerous as I expected it was going to be."
>"I guess you could say so. So, when will we leave?" Patchouli asks.
>Patchouli takes another sip of her tea.
-
>"It's we now? When did you ever want to leave your library?"
-
>"It's we now? When did you ever want to leave your library?"
>"Well, I still think you'll need my help in Makai.. I don't want to stay at the mansion anymore, either.." Patchouli adds in a very soft voice.
>You hear the fluttering of some fairies behind you... They are so easily distracted..
-
>"Are you really proposing to leave the mansion, and the little mistress, entirely in the care of Meiling and your familiar?"
-
>"Are you really proposing to leave the mansion, and the little mistress, entirely in the care of Meiling and your familiar?"
>"I hadn't actually thought of it like that, but.. I really need to get out for a while. Whether this is caused by the Desires, I do not know, but I just have to..." Patchouli answers
>She scrapes her throat, and says:"We will have to get someone to take care of the mansion for a while.. I don't trust the gateguard enough to leave her alone with Meiling and Koakuma.. I have some magic barriers placed around the mansion, but like the ones I have placed around the basement, they only keep those away who wish to go through them, so it wouldn't really work well against accidental wanderers. It would work against Marisa, though.."
-
>"And who would you trust, exactly?"
-
>"And who would you trust, exactly?"
>"That is a good question.. I really don't know a lot of people, but I suppose Reimu could do it..." Patchouli answers
-
>Do we have faith that Reimu could look over the mansion without messing everything up? Or setting Flandre on a tirade?
-
>Do we have faith that Reimu could look over the mansion without messing everything up? Or setting Flandre on a tirade?
>Reimu would at least be less destructive than Flandre would. As for Flandre tirading... Well, let's just say she's more of the physical type of fighter as opposed to the verbal kind.
>Parser's note: I sure hope I interpreted the word 'tirade' in the right way here. All translations I could find gave me a meaning of something along the lines of an endless preaching, which is more Shikieiki's style..
-
Purvis note: You speak english too well. I keep forgetting. Tirade as throwing a tantrum.
>"Hm. I suppose she would do. I guess it wouldn't be hard to lure her here. How do you propose to suggest it without arousing her suspicions that something is awry."
>_

>"Hm. I suppose she would do. I guess it wouldn't be hard to lure her here. How do you propose to suggest it without arousing her suspicions that something is awry."
>_
>Parser's note: No, that was actually the Dutch translation of the word. The word tirade in English also exists in Dutch in the very same way, as it is actually French."
>"Well.. It wouldn't be very subtle, but I could release some of the scarlet mist around here and leave a message with Koakuma for when she arrives.."
-
>"Mmm, I think the potential for misunderstanding is much too high. Once the rabbit is dealt with, send your familiar to invite her to stay to watch over our household while we help tend to personal affairs."
>"Speaking of such, there is a doll running around that I need to deal with. Please make your preparations in the meantime."
-

>"Speaking of such, there is a doll running around that I need to deal with. Please make your preparations in the meantime."
>"That would also work. I will send for her once I've heard a hundredth scream. That should be a good benchmark."
>"I will start gathering some seals and spellcards. I've created some new spellcards I'd like to test out."
-
>Leave Patchouli, and find medicine again.
-
>Leave Patchouli, and find medicine again.
>You leave Patchouli to her preparations, and then wonder why you would be looking for some medicine and walk back into the kitchen and through the door through which you saw Medicine leave. It leads outside to a small balcony. When you look down, you see Medicine flying around, along with Cirno and the Three Fairies. They seem to be playing happily. Cirno is freezing the grass while Medicine is spreading poison, and the both seem to cancel eachtother out.
-
>Are they properly outside of the grounds?
-
>Are they properly outside of the grounds?
>They are playing a short distance behind the wall, next to a small river.
-
>Keep her in sight, and go see the gatekeeper.
-
>Keep her in sight, and go see the gatekeeper.
>You keep your eye on the children, but they don't seem to be doing anything special. You walk towards the room where Sara is staying.
>She sees you as you approach, and greets you.
-
>The other gatekeeper, I meant.
-
>The other gatekeeper, I meant.
Parser's note: DURR~
>You reverse time in order to revert your mistake, and instead visit Meiling, who is walking around in the yard, trying to seem like she's guarding but not really doing anything.
-
>"Meiling. Were you aware that a rabbit youkai and a living doll managed to get into the mansion recently?"
-
>"Meiling. Were you aware that a rabbit youkai and a living doll managed to get into the mansion recently?"
>"Yees?"
>Meiling stops in her tracks and sprints towards you.
>"Yes, they both passed the gate... The rabbit told me she had come to visit Remilia, so I gave her a room. The doll was following the rabbit, but she seemed a little bit tired or something.. That's a pretty odd couple, isn't it?"
-
>"The rabbit tricked the doll into mildly poisoning our other guest. Please be more discreet in the future."
-
>"The rabbit tricked the doll into mildly poisoning our other guest. Please be more discreet in the future."
>"Y-you're kidding, right? Ehehehehe..."
>Meiling falls to her knees, and beggingly says: "Sorry, Sakuya! It won't happen again! Never! I won't let anyone in anymore without your permission.."
-
>Nod.
>"I would suggest, if the come claiming to visit someone, that you check with that person first. Assuming we've not already said to expect them. Should they not be here, it is fine to tell the visitor to return later if we've not specifically invited them."
-
>Nod.
>"I would suggest, if the come claiming to visit someone, that you check with that person first. Assuming we've not already said to expect them. Should they not be here, it is fine to tell the visitor to return later if we've not specifically invited them."
>You nod, and calmly give her another suggestion.
>Meiling stands up, salutes by putting her hand at her head, and says:"Yes, madam!"
-
>"Good. We'll overlook this for now, since we're a little understaffed at the moment. But please be more mindful. Oh, as for the rabbit, she was given to the Little Mistress for awhile. I imagine she'll be very eager to leave afterward. Be sure to facilitate that."
-
>"Good. We'll overlook this for now, since we're a little understaffed at the moment. But please be more mindful. Oh, as for the rabbit, she was given to the Little Mistress for awhile. I imagine she'll be very eager to leave afterward. Be sure to facilitate that."
>"U-understood! Also..."
>Meiling looks you in the eyes, in a somewhat nervous way.
>"It might be a weird idea, but perhaps we could recruit some more guards or fairies? It would help prevent these sort of things, right?"
-
>How much do the current operating expenses run the mansion, in terms of wages, food, and so on? Do we actually bring in any money?
-
>How much do the current operating expenses run the mansion, in terms of wages, food, and so on? Do we actually bring in any money?
>You do not actually have a lot money. You live on a large supply of food and by the time that is not eatable anymore, the fairies usually have produced a similar amount. You keep them fed and give them a home, and in turn they cultivate all sorts of edible plants, rice and vegetables, and of course, tea leaves. The garden at the back of the mansion doesn't seem very big, but it is partially underground and therefor often overlooked.
Any meat or furniture in the house was provided by the humans of the Human Village or bought at Kourindou. You've done the odd job cleaning someone's house like you clean the Scarlet Devil Mansion, which usually brings in about 1000 yen per hour.
Parser's note: Gensokyo's currency is in no way comparable with the actual Yen.
-
>"It would be difficult to accommodate them. I'll speak with the Young Mistress about it."
-
>"It would be difficult to accommodate them. I'll speak with the Young Mistress about it."
>"Heh, I guess it would be... We have plenty of space, but food would pose a problem.."
>Meiling smiles angstily when you mention Flandre, but nods.
-
>Flan was the Little Mistress, and Remilia the Young Mistress. Meiling even reacted to it as such before. ;_;
-
>Flan was the Little Mistress, and Remilia the Young Mistress. Meiling even reacted to it as such before. ;_;
Parser's note: Durr, too confusing. Disregard that last one.
-
>"We'll see how she feels about the issue. I'm sure accommodations can be made if she feels it is a necessity. Until then, please try to be wary."
>If Meiling has nothing more to add, go find Patchouli.
-
>"We'll see how she feels about the issue. I'm sure accommodations can be made if she feels it is a necessity. Until then, please try to be wary."
>If Meiling has nothing more to add, go find Patchouli.
>"Of course, Miss Sakuya!" Meiling says, and takes her leave, to parade around the premises once more.
>You fly back inside through the main doors, being sure to close it, and take the stairs down to the Library. Koakuma is running around in a frenzy, running around with a small bookcart loaded with all sorts of books. The only similarity is their width. Meanwhile, Patchouli is nowhere in sight.
-
>Wait patiently.
-
>Wait patiently.
>You wait a few moments for Koakuma to come to herself.
>After she comes around from the back of the Library through the main hallway, she notices you.
>"A-ah! Lady Sakuya! For how long have you been waiting there?" she asks, surprised.
-
>"Is Patchouli ready?"
-
>"Is Patchouli ready?"
>"W-well.. She went down to the basement a few minutes ago, but she hasn't returned yet... I've finished gathering everything, too." Koakuma answers
-
>Nod, and depart toward the basement.
-
>Nod, and depart toward the basement.
>You nod at Koakuma, who takes the signal and starts sorting the books on the table you left your tea on.
>You head down to the basement. Other than a few lanterns on the sides and a bright light at the end, the stairs are really dark, so dark that you can't actually see anything. Remilia and Flandre are probably used to this, being vampires and all, but you never understood why Remilia couldn't just concede and add some chandeliers...
>After a while of walking in the dark, you reach Flandre's Playroom. All kinds of toys are placed around the room; Toy horses, slides, all kinds of balls made of different materials and of different sizes, you name it and you probably had it. All of it's oldfashioned now, of course, but....
>When you look around the room again, you don't see neither Flandre nor Tewi nor Patchouli, not to mention a gaping hole in the right wall!
-
>Sigh.
>Dash through the hole.
-
>Sigh.
>Dash through the hole.
>What could've happened this time..?
>You dash on through the hole. Behind the gaping hole in the wall, the tunnels becomes much thinner, like Tewi dug the hole herself.. Because you're fairly long yourself and she is a teensy rabbit, you have quite some trouble getting through the tunnel. It seems to be leading downwards rather than upwards....
>After a while, the tunnel broadens... There seems to be a small hut in some kind of dug-out room.. It's mostly improvised and made out of dirt, but it has a small wooden cat door (or in this case, a rabbit door).
-
>Listen at it.
-
>Listen at it.
>You put your ear at the door.. You hear.. snoozing?
-
>Can we stop time and open the door? Or would time being stopped prevent the door from opening?"
>If the former is possible, stop time and slip inside.
-
>Can we stop time and open the door? Or would time being stopped prevent the door from opening?"
>If the former is possible, stop time and slip inside.
>That's within your reach, of course; time only stops for everyone else except you, inanimate objects such as doors are completely unaffected.
>You stop time, and slip inside. In there, you see Patchouli, lying.. and snoring on a small bed. It looks very improvised and very awkward to lie on, but Patchouli doesn't seem to mind.
-
>Look around the area in general. Keep time frozen.
-
>Look around the area in general. Keep time frozen.
>Keeping time frozen, you look around the room you're in once again..
>There's some drawers at the other end of the room, along with a small natural water spring and a wooden stove. Looks like someone's been living here for a while now..
>Looking around, you can't help but wonder where exactly the light is coming from...
>When you look up, you notice a small, pearshaped glass ball radiating light.. How does that work?
-
>If only Patchouli is here, let time flow once again and wake her.
-
>If only Patchouli is here, let time flow once again and wake her.
>You let time flow as it always did, and rustle Patchouli to wake her.
>She stretches her arms and whispers:"Mudyuu! Cantyouletmesleepforfivemoreminutessakuyaaa?"
-
>"Where is the Little Mistress, Patchouli?"
-
>"Where is the Little Mistress, Patchouli?"
>"Sh-she went further down, to the City along with that r-rabbit.. I tr-tried to stop them, but I was attacked by a cave spider! Please, Sakuya, you need to stop the Little Mistress before she destroys part of the Ancient City and the Satori twins get wind of it!"
-
>Sigh and look for a way to move further in.
-
>Sigh and look for a way to move further in.
>You sigh again.. How exactly is it that you keep getting held up by these kinds of stuff?
>You leave the bedroom, and find yourself in the hallway once again. There's the tunnel you came from, and another tunnel leading downwards with a yellowish light at the end.
-
>Head toward the light!
-
>Head toward the light!
>You start heading downwards through the tunnel, which is lit throughout by the pearshaped glass balls. Eventually, the tunnel widens even further, and you reach the end of the tunnel, to find...
>To find yourself on some sort of clifftop, looking out on a humongous city, hidden underground! Patchouli seems to have been right about an Ancient City being down here. The city itself is really large, and has a lot of improvised wooden shacks as well as some better-built stone houses built tightly near eachother. You notice a small marketplace at the foot of the clifftop you're standing on top of, as well as some sort of big mansion to the right. All kinds of people are rushing through the streets. The main similarity between all of them is that they all have horns.. So this must be where all the oni had gone to....
-
>Examine the crowd motions. Do they suggest people fleeing from something?
>Are there any apparent signs of Flandre flipping out?
-
>Examine the crowd motions. Do they suggest people fleeing from something?
>Are there any apparent signs of Flandre flipping out?
>They all seem to be running from the marketplace underneath the cliff. You can't see Flandre herself, but her sword flashing red seems as good a hint as any.
-
>Sigh, stop time, and head for that direction.
>Can Flandre be reasoned with at all when she gets into a mood like this?
-
>Sigh, stop time, and head for that direction.
>Can Flandre be reasoned with at all when she gets into a mood like this?
>.... sigh. You fly downwards to the marketplace and see Flandre with a most diabolical smile swordfighting against an oni. Even stranger, the oni is carrying a sak? dish in her left hand, which is filled!
>She's not THAT bad, you'll just need to convince her that she'll get something else to play with sooner or later. There must be something seriously wrong if she's this competitive after she just used up a toy...
-
>Prepare our best chiding mother voice.
>"Flandre Scarlet! What in the world do you think you're doing!"
-
>Prepare our best chiding mother voice.
>"Flandre Scarlet! What in the world do you think you're doing!"
>You scrape your throat and prepare your most motherly and reprimanding voice...!
>Flandre looks around quickly as she hears her name, allowing the oni to knock her down onto the ground.
>"Sa-sakuya-san? Are you here, too?" Flandre asks, giggling, her voice very soft because her breath was taken away.
>The oni makes a sound similar to 'hmph', and puts her sword back into her sheath. She murmurs to herself:"and I didn'even needta use any danmaku?"
>Almost as some kind of response to that statement, Flandre suddenly yells out "STARBOW BREAK!" A rainbow-coloured calvacade of bullets appears over the marketplace while Flandre flies upwards, and the people that had stayed on the marketplace quickly flee away. All of them, except for the sak?-carrying oni, who flies upwards to Flandre.
-
>Can we hold Flandre's sword without hurting ourself?
-
>Can we hold Flandre's sword without hurting ourself?
>You think about catching Flandre's sword with your hands... but then you remember you forgot your fire-retardant gloves at the mansion.
>The oni girl is slowly approaching Flandre, evading the rainbow-coloured orbs in the sky.. Weren't they supposed to be moving in this spellcard?
>Before you can finish that train of thought, Flandre heaves Lava?tein above her head.
-
>Do we know what this signifies?
-
>Do we know what this signifies?
>With the sword over her head and danmaku floating in midair, this can only mean bad things.
>Oh, and it does! Before you realise what happened, Flandre has swept her sword downward, enlarging and engulfing it with even more flames in the process. She starts speeding towards the oni girl, and slashes La?vatein against the oni girl's sword, and sparks appear where they met. The rainbow-coloured balls are swept away by Flandre's sword, and start falling towards the ground. The oni girl takes a few hits, but stands her ground. (Well, more like, she isn't sent flying downwards just yet..)
-
>"Flandre! You cut this nonsense out right now, or you will not be getting dessert!
>Watch for collateral damage. Who cares if she's beating the shit out of an oni, despite our words.
>If needs be, can we manipulate people while time is frozen, such as turning Flan ninety degrees from where she was facing before time was stopped?
-
>"Just one more second! I've almost gotten her down!" Flandre answers
>You dodge the falling danmaku orbs, which doesn't take a whole lot of effort. The oni should easily be able to take her on.
>You've come to the conclusion from experience that Flandre isn't very much affected by your timestopping. You could reverse time so you would've stopped her before anything happened, but that would take 10 % of your stamina.
>And with that, she slashes straight at the oni girl, their swords slashing at eachother in flames, and they're sent flying away, towards the walls. Flandre manages to recuperate soon enough not to crash into the wall. The oni girl, however ?s smashed into a wall. However, she doesn't seem to be affected very much at all, as she just uses her feet to smash a big hole into the wall without actually getting hurt.
-
>"That was one second, Flandre."
-
>"Well, we're pretty much finished for now, right, Yuugi?" Flandre asks the oni girl.
>The oni girl retrieves herself from the oni-shaped hole and jump down right next to you, shaking the ground in the process.
>"Sorry for taking so long, sis! Flandre really is strong, isn't she? I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself, did I? I'm Yuugi. Hoshiguma Yuugi. Nice to meetcha!" the oni girl says, now introduced as Yuugi.
-
> Curtsy to Yuugi. "I am Sakuya Izayoi."
>Look toward Flandre, "And you left the house without permission, young lady. I am very disappointed."
-
> Curtsy to Yuugi. "I am Sakuya Izayoi."
>Look toward Flandre, "And you left the house without permission, young lady. I am very disappointed."
>"Ah" Yuugi answers, grabbing you by the hand and shaking it. "Truly an honour to meet the (pad) head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Miss Izayoi. Flandre has told me all about you. Jeez, she sure talks a lot, doesn't she?" Yuugi says, widely grinning.
>"That's not true! I just.. wanted to extend the basement, and Tewi was there to help me and then we somehow ended up here and then she disappeared and then suddenly Yuugi disappeared, all chocked up because a new person came down here. I just got caught up in all this stuff.." Flandre tries to explain, talking at the speed of Aya with her eyes on a scoop.
-
>"And did you ask for permission before doing this?"
-
>"And did you ask for permission before doing this?"
>"No!" Flandre answers, "Of course not! How could I have, when I'm always locked up in the basement!" Flandre yells at you.
>Whoops.. Looks like you hit a tender chord.
-
>"This may be so; but given that we gave you a playmate, and this is what you choose to do in response, it is not very encouraging."
-
>"This may be so; but given that we gave you a playmate, and this is what you choose to do in response, it is not very encouraging."
>"B-but I want to go out, too! I've never even seen beyond the garden, and there's so much out there! There's this huge underground city here, and Tewi told me about a huge bamboo forest and another mansion! There's probably even places you haven't been before! Please, just let me out for one day! I promise I won't actually kill anyone!"
-
>"And you will fix the unfortunate yards long tunnel you've put into the wall?"
-
>"Well, it's useful, ain't it? If we just clean it up and hide the entrance, you'll be able to visit anytime!" Yuugi says before Flandre can say anything.
-
>"Please do not take it personally, Miss Yuugi, but I do not think Mistress would prefer to have more than one entrance into her manor. Especially not one where there's quite a few people who could come in whenever they pleased. Our security is taxed enough as it is."
-
>"Please do not take it personally, Miss Yuugi, but I do not think Mistress would prefer to have more than one entrance into her manor. Especially not one where there's quite a few people who could come in whenever they pleased. Our security is taxed enough as it is."
>Yuugi shrugs, and instantly changes her mood:"If that is how the Mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion requires it, I will personally see to it that this tunnel will be closed off. That is an oni's promise. I will even go as far as to ward off any possible explorers from the place. My inn's fairly close-by anyways, so it's no matter."
-
>"For the time being, let's content ourselves with keeping it guarded and a secret, until Mistress can be consulted for a more thorough evaluation. Now, may I ask what became of that rabbit?"
-
>"For the time being, let's content ourselves with keeping it guarded and a secret, until Mistress can be consulted for a more thorough evaluation. Now, may I ask what became of that rabbit?"
>"Ah, the rabbit.. Wait... you didn't see her on your way here? Didn't she... aaaahh, I see" Yuugi says, changing from an inquisitive face to a face that you can't quite place. Is that.. a smile?
>"Yuugi, what is it? Is something wrong?" Flandre asks.
-
>"You're suddenly being anything but forthright, I notice."
-
>"You're suddenly being anything but forthright, I notice."
>"And I've also noticed you being quite assuming. That's a pity. I would've thought you'd be more trustful, but it seems you really are as cold as you seem. So much for my new girlfriend, then." Yuugi says
>She grins, looks at Flandre, and asks:"So, what'd we bet on again? Don't suppose you remember, do ya?"
>Flandre, seemingly unfazed by the more important thing going on, responds quickly: "Of course I do! It was 500 yen, right?"
>They start rambling at eachother about the bet, not paying any attention to you in the slightest.
-
>"If that's what you choose. Little Mistress, let us return now, before before your sister worries."
-
>"If that's what you choose. Little Mistress, let us return now, before before your sister worries."
>"O-okay! I hope I didn't make too much of a mess, Yuugi? I tend to overdo things.." Flandre says, with a guilty smile.
>"No problem, no problem at all! I'll clean it all up, don't you worry! After all, you have to clean up after every party, don't you?" Yuugi says
>Flandre nods, and looks at you.
-
>Bow toward Yuugi. "Thank you for taking care of the Little Mistress."
>Back to the mansion! Stop and collect Patche along the way.
-
>Bow toward Yuugi. "Thank you for taking care of the Little Mistress."
>Back to the mansion! Stop and collect Patche along the way.
>"No problem! I had fun, of course, and I hope you'll visit again too." Yuugi says, and walks away, further into the city.
>You and Flandre take off, flying back onto the cliff and through the tunnel. Nothing noteworthy happens in the tunnels, but once you reach the bedroom, Patchouli is nowhere to be found.
>Flandre looks around the room, and says:"Huh, was Patchouli supposed to be here? I guess she thought you could handle it yourself.."
-
>"Let us hope so."
>Head back.
-
>"Let us hope so."
>Head back.
>Flandre nods, as you start walking back up. It doesn't take very long to reach the basement. No one is there either, so you head back up the stairs to the Library.
>You don't immediately notice Patchouli, but Koakuma is sitting at a desk, skimming through a moss-covered book
-
>Frown.
>"Has Patchouli returned from the basement?"
-
>Frown.
>"Has Patchouli returned from the basement?"
>You frown once again. You should really stop frowning. It's not going to do your skin any good, and Rinnosuke only restocks moisturizer once in a month...
>Koakuma turns in her chair after hearing your voice, and responds:"Ah, Sakuya-san, so you found Flandre. That's quite a relief.. Patchouli-sama... She didn't come with you? Did she fall asleep or something..?"
-
>"It is a little complicated. Let us just say that there's a hole in the basement, and she stopped to rest midway through it."
>Patchouli doesn't have a history of somnambulism, does she?
-
>"It is a little complicated. Let us just say that there's a hole in the basement, and she stopped to rest midway through it."
>Patchouli doesn't have a history of somnambulism, does she?
>"Oh my.. That is quite... unusual. Something bad must've happened then, I don't remember her ever passing out or anything of the kind. She must've been exhausted. Did she fight anyone along the way, perhaps? I've heard that a magician's health depends on his magic power, and I can only assume the same goes for her.." Koakuma answers, her voice sounding worried.
>Not that you know of... She sometimes falls asleep while reading books, but ever since Marisa started raiding the Library, Patchouli has actually started sleeping a few hours of the day.
-
>"She did mention being attacked by a cave spider. But I didn't see any signs of it, so I assumed she had driven it away successfully."
-
>"She did mention being attacked by a cave spider. But I didn't see any signs of it, so I assumed she had driven it away successfully."
>"Ah, there lies a possible solution. She could've been poisoned without knowing. Patchouli would definitely be affected a lot by most common diseases. In any case, we should locate her as soon as possible. Where was it that you last saw her, then? I shall travel there immediately." Koakuma answers resolutely.
-
>"In the basement. There is a new tunnel that the Little Mistress has made. Part of the way through is a little house. She was resting there."
-
>"In the basement. There is a new tunnel that the Little Mistress has made. Part of the way through is a little house. She was resting there."
>"And where is she now, then?" Koakuma asks.
-
>"If I knew, would I have come in here asking about her?"
