This large list of IPs (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=groups;sa=members;group=17) that i'm not going to name individually! You sorry lot of idiots, sitting around and squandering those spiffy blue titles while other, more ~~hapless~~ capable individuals with boatloads of potential are waiting in the wings! (At least, in theory..) The shrine is a mess, we've been out of toilet paper for weeks, and there's a stench coming out of the refrigerator that is making my head spin.

So what are we going to do about it, hmm? Welp, somebody's head is going to be on the chopping block for this, and it sure ain't going to be me.. Hmm...

If you guys want to keep your positions, then put up or shut up! Convince us why you deserve to keep your spot on the Idiot Hierarchy. Remind us why you're apparently so sweet. Because i'm drawing a blank here, peoples. If you don't answer the call, then don't be too surprised if you wake up one morning and your house has been emptied of its valuables. Your title might even be gone with it.

(And note, all your poor title-less heathens have an opportunity! Think of this as "MotK's got talent", even. Or a forced challenge between everyone who has Idiot Hierarchy titles, and everyone who doesn't. )

It's very simple. At the next full moon, you will be given a location and a text to recite. Your job will be to acquire a means of recording video with sound, make your way to the location, get naked, wear 6 living cats, and recite the text in a wailing voice, as you begin to envision the interdimensional horror that you are about to summon into our world. You of course want to film all of this, and then post the video here.

PPS: Bonus points if the cat are under the influence of catnip.

Take care not to actually an interdimensional horror into our world. Any damage, be it physical or psychological, is not covered by MotK membership, nor is it covered by any staff members or regular members in particular unless specifically stated in a document that has been in existence for five seconds or longer. MotK membership can be revoked at any time.

After some initial observation and studying of his opponents, and potential challengers, plans started to formulate in his mind. Gears within gears, plots within plots within plots, subtle manipulations that wouldn't be traced back to him for many moons to come... but how best to execute these plans? The ever-changing nature of the internet itself, and the community in general, meant it would be hard to efficiently play mindgames with the denizens within. Perhaps, he would need an ally...

...but where could such an ally be found? The Librarians were a noteworthy choice; they already had their own positions of power, and would not be threatened by the chaos. Perhaps one of them would be willing to aid Esifex?

Alternatively, the other artistic minds of the community may be a viable resource. While the Librarians would be perfect, the other writers would be ideal, as well. All were creative, all were clever, and many were good with subterfuge - a necessary evil for writing suspense-ridden stories. Unfortunately, Esifex couldn't be sure of their ability to keep a secret. They would make good comrades, but poor secret keepers.

Then Esifex realized he was trying to compete for an 'Idiot' tag, and shrugged.

It's not really rocket science. Competitions are one way to give people amusement and get people participating, but it's far from the only way. You're more safe than others due to producing a steady stream of random content (and making up for your absence with Jerome the Ninja Cable Dog :v)

Ultimately, the Idiot Hierarchy exists as an institution to make this place less boring. When people do sweet things, they get something to show for it as appreciation, in hopes that the slight encouragement will lead to more amusing things down the line.

However, sometimes that doesn't always pan out. Maybe the person in question was a one-hit wonder, or they are hitting a block of some kind. Taking away your title doesn't mean we don't like you, we just don't want the Idiot Hierarchy reduced to a badge of popularity or some kind of tenure-track position.

I think a good large chunk of my interest in this is that the only thing to do where I live is play video games and LEAVE. Even work is a breeze and it'll be at least two months before I can move on to something I'm not 2-4 years overqualified for. I'm prodding to see if anyone gives me something other to do than push the number of hours I play Oblivion up another 20 hours every week.
