Do we have any Go players in our midst? Been getting the itch to start playing again, and it'd be nice to find people that I knew to play with. :3
I used to play on Kiseido Go Server back in the day, and I usually go through periods of wanting to play really badly and then going months without touching a stone. I'm getting the itch once again, so I reregistered on KGS and started to get back into things.

KGS (http://www.gokgs.com/), each of us with our respective names (well, not quite, since mine is Saka0402).
If you want a good game, I'd recommend theshim and Pesco as opponents. If you want a fun game with an almost guaranteed win, play against me :V
As for the IRC thing, I don't think we need an extra channel atm. Most of us are hanging around meido anyway, so we could coordinate from there. It works fine for playing Mahjong, so it will work for Go as well~

Oh bby, looking forward to getting home so I can play a game with one of you guys. I didn't get a chance to look through the games itself but I saw theshim was at about 14k, so we should be able to have a good match. :3

Hahahahahaa...yeah, I just got my ranking on GoKGS, and believe me, I'm no 14k. Maybe, on a VERY good day, 18k. Still, I'll be around for a chunk of today, so I'll just hang on #touhou-go and someone can bug me if they want to play.

I haven't touched this since high school.
and we play it on mathematical square sheets, essentially turning it into 'build a fortress with dots and Xs' and outmastermind the other into getting essentially the largest square area.

Gotta start somewhere :D Maybe I could play simultaneous games with each of you, and then we review the game afterwards?
Also, I thought of something else we could do. If you have a specific game you'd played that you'd like reviewed, we could all hop into a room and go over it together.

I played it as a child with my parents and I still remember the rules, but any hint of strategy I have is out the window >_>

Actually, after browsing through countless (0 because it can't be counted, durr hurr) strategy books, I have found the true strategy to Go...
The strategy is to win.

Just dropping in to drop this off, it's a pretty good beginner's tutorial that starts to get into the meat of strategy and the flow of stones: here (http://senseis.xmp.net/?HaengMaTutorialForBeginners). senseis.xmp.net in general is an awesome site for study, and you're sure to find something interesting if you check it out.

After seeing this, I decided to join up here, I hope I can find good opponents.
I'm not much, but I pride myself on my strategic talents.
I've found that after playing a few rounds online last year, I noticed that I had a knack for Go.
That and it was fun, much easier than Chess.

Yeah, just recently got some stuff, and one of the things I got was a game I'm trying to find mods for, but this certainly isn't the thread for that. xD
