Title: Move over, Windows XP beep
Post by: Drake on March 10, 2010, 06:24:01 PM
UFO Stage 5 Theme, Rural Makai City Esoteria.
At about 1:11, when Nazrin comes in, usually in-game a UFO switches color if you don't grab it.
In the ripped game music, there's still the sound of a UFO changing color. I checked in game as well, and it's there even if you grab all the UFOs.

Right on the second snare hit. I'll never unhear it again. Thanks.

Wow, you're right.

It is barely noticable if you don't hear out for it, though...

Hmm, I tried listening to my rippped copy and couldn't hear it at all, same as when I tried it in the music room.

But when I tried playing stage 5 I heard it. For some reason though I tried my music file again and still can't hear it.

Yep, definitely there. Either way, it's a lovely noise, so I'm not complaining.

Good, another reason to listen to Rural Makai City Esoteria.

Even in your music U. F. O.!

Oh wait.

Wow it really does. You gotta wonder how that sort of thing even ends up happening. Was ZUN just having a bit of fun?

Wait, does this mean there isn't a single clean recording of Rural Makai City Esoteria in existence?

I have it on good authority that in Double Spoiler, if you listen closely to the Level 3 theme, at about 45 seconds in you can hear "Caw caw".

I listened and didn't hear it. ??? Then again thanks to stupid air pressure buildup I'm a bit hard of hearing right now, so I'll try again once it clears up.

Listened to all different versions, including in game and everything, and it's not there.

Edit: Nope, tried everything, earpiece, headset, normal, trying on very loud volume, without sound effects, nothing.

It's definitely there. It's disguised in behind a snare hit, but it's there.

I even tried somehow enchanting the sound and all with an audio editor, playing it slow, fast, anything. It's not there.

Probably the EQ you set up for your speakers.

I haven't set mine up properly, so I can't hear it atm.

Maybe it just sounds similar? Like in A God That Misses People ~ Romantic Fall, 1:33 sounds like Windows Error Message? (98 or XP, i'm not sure - Vista user), but it is just piano. (Yes, error sound is playable on normal piano... weird)
Btw, have fun hearing it for the rest of your life :P

Oh wow, it is there.

BTW did we ever find out if the Windows XP pop in the Interdimensional Voyage was intentional or if it just slipped into the recording?

It's really, really quiet in the background, but it's certainly there.

I had to listen several times, and yet I couldn't succeed in hearing it with my pc's speakers.

Had to focus a bit while listening to it with my headphones, and I finally found it. Yes, it is very, very quiet D:
