Mh maybe i'm stupid and i don't find anything, but i can't edit the dialogues @@ (i'm going to edit PCB)
i found how to change the sprites and the faces but not the dialogues and spellcard...anyone can address me to the right way?

Tried hard-editing it in a hex editor? It works in TH06.
I'm not sure if you can do it in the PCB's patcher's translation.pickle, but nothing hurts if you try, right?
Try making sure that each text string's number of characters remain the same.
So if a line says:
"This is ridiculous." = 19 characters
This is legal:
"I am not Reimu. " = 19 characters
This is illegal:
"I am not Reimu." = 16 characters and you'll get a fatal error crash when you patch.
I haven't tried editing the msg file directly in PCB, but will try soon.
I've edited the msg.dat of EoSD and they seem to follow the same format.
As always, make a back-up before trying anything out.
The spellcards are the ones that are hard to trace. I'm still trying to find where they are called from, but I seem to fail miserably.
Sorry if my English seems strange...

no problem for your english. I found the spellcards in spellcards.eng in insert_files folder, i trasformed the eng file in txt and i tried to change the first name but when the spellcard must to be used, the game crashed.
how i have to edit the pickle file? i tried to trasnform in .txt ad edit but it doesn't work (and it is a little impossible...)

Don't change the extension of the original file.
Instead, use the 'Open With...' option in the menu and use notepad (I use Cygnus since its a hex editor)
Alternatively use some tools to extract the msgX.dat (where X = Stage #) from th07e.dat for direct editing.
msg1.dat:
(http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/9634/68541667.th.png) (http://img251.imageshack.us/i/68541667.png/)
It looks more editable.
Then pack it using datpacker.
However the translations.pickle is more complete since it has all the stage translations in it. However, they're jumbled and you have to find the specific lines to translate using ctrl-F:
translation.PICKLE using a notepad:
(http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/8711/73582312.th.png) (http://img62.imageshack.us/i/73582312.png/)
Which means you should know what you want to edit. Pickle is an archive used by the Python language, so it's encoded and a headache to edit.
Some Tests editing msg1.dat

Editing the Boss Names in msg1.dat

I was able to edit the spellcard.eng in the patcher then patched it without problems:
It follows the same rule as editing the msg.dat that it needs the same number of characters in each line (including spaces)
(http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/2018/21297550.th.png) (http://img8.imageshack.us/i/21297550.png/)
I don't know how to edit the bomb names yet.
Chances are what you did was:
Edit spellcard.eng -> patch -> patch failed but since it was done without using the normal procedure there was no error log (actually there was but it displayed too fast to be noticed) -> incomplete .dat file was created -> corrupt .dat file was used -> tho7e.exe called for spellcard.eng which was missing -> Unhandled Exception Error occurred.
I'm concerned about my English since it's not my native language. :P

oh i used Hex editor and i can edit translations.pickle and spellcards.eng, but it was very caotic to do! (it is very annoyng i must to follow the original number of letters, expecially for the spellcards when I have a long name and i have to insert a small name...)

(i'm making the game based on our fan fic, i'm editing pcb because I don't understand anything about danmakufu, english tutorial too, i'm italian and too english make my head hurt x?

Stai provando a modificare PCB anzich? imparare Danmakufu? Pazza :D
Beh, se vuoi ti insegno che poi non ? cos? complicato... Sarebbe meglio se avessi qualche esperienza precedente di programmazione per?, perch? il linguaggio ? simile al C.
Eng: You are trying to modify PCB instead of learning how to use Danmakufu? Crazy :D
Well, I can teach you how to use it if you want, it isn't that complicated after all... It would be nice to have some previous programming experiences though, since Danmakufu's language is similar to C.
-
ara ara, italian *_*
guarda che modificare pcb ? facilissimo a questo punto, usare il danmakufu no perch? dovrei riprogrammare le spellcard ed ? da suicidio, almeno per me che sono alle prime armi con la programmazione >w<
Eng: edit pcb is simple because if i use the danmakufu script i have to program all the pattern and i can't to this because i don't know much about programming
-
Ma quindi vuoi usare le stesse spell di PCB? :/
Eng: So your idea is to use the exact same spells as PCB?
-
mh forse ? meglio discuterne per pm X?D
Eng: we have to talk by pm X?
-
Nice to see that you've figured it out.
The insert-character reminds me of someone from Teru Toru Magic...lol.
Anyway, do you know how to change the bomb names? I'm stumped at that part.

i don't know @@ i'm looking for it
