err, I didn't even know it was coming out yet. Last I heard it was unannounced with little info other than a change in developers or something.

I don't really want to get my time all messed up in an MMO, but I definately was wanting to try it. I hope they have some kind of free trial.

I mean a trial after the game's release silly. I don't want to purchase the game just to try it just yet >=P. I WOULD have tried the beta if I had known about it, darrr.

Okay, so I find that ST:O is really a good pick-up-and-play game thus far.  In this early part it's all about killing Orion pirates, but they never go anywhere alone.  Combat is a challenge of strategy - you gotta maneuver to keep your shots in the right shield quadrants, line up torpedo attacks, manage ship power, and use your specials as you need.  It's a challenge - the GOOD kind of challenge - to take on an Orion battleship and a couple of corvettes with a Miranda-class (or equivalent movie/TOS class of light cruiser, which you can customize your TNG Miranda to look like).  Moreover, when you end up in a system with a few other guys, fleet action makes a huge difference.  I just wish there was easier ways to communicate, like a system-specific voice chat channel to coordinate attacks.

I can't wait to keep going, I definitely wanna go for the huge broadside-firin' ship of the line loadout.  You can also go for escorts (Runabouts, Defiant-type ships, etc.) or science vessels (buffing, debuffing, forcible decloaking, unique damage) too.

Or just nuclear wessels.

Hmm... can the ships designation have a circled 9 that absolutely no one but you in the entire game will ever understand? lol.

U.S.S Cirno  NCC⑨- the strongest.

Unfortunately it only allows numbers starting in 9 and going to a certain total range.  I forget what exactly, but I'm sad because it wouldn't let me do NCC-90210.

If it'll let me, I'd do an escort (basically a fighter-class ship) and name it the USS Cirno, NCC-99999.
