What could be the reason that I can't play Labyrinth without it crashing? It starts up and my monitor flickers a bit. There are pixelated graphic issues in the window (mostly cyan/white in color). Eventually the monitor goes black for a few seconds and comes back to a "thLabyrinth.exe has stopped working" error. Sometimes while flickering, the music will hang. Even if the game doesn't crash, it will only sit there with a black screen and the music playing. I never even make it to the title screen.
Vista, x64, nVidia card (I heard there may be some issues with nVidia drivers, using the latest), proper fonts are installed, patched to most recent version, English patch installed. halp? D: Google has given me nothing useful.
EDIT: I tried running it in forced 256 colors and it works, but it's hideous and I can't read any of the text. Additionally, the text appears as an incredibly thin/skinny font and is placed off to the left of text boxes on top of character portraits. Hopefully that can give someone some clues. Like I said, I have the proper fonts installed, but it doesn't quite look like they're working, I guess. I wouldn't know.

First of all, you might have screwed up installation of the game. You are supposed to
A.Extract the 3-part zip
B.Copy files from Plus-Disk folder into Game folder and overwrite
C.Apply 2.04 patch
D.Apply English patch
And just install fonts whenever. Also, make sure the folders have no japanese characters in their names.

That's how I did it last time, but just in case, I did a fresh installation again. Still having the same issue.
The only way I can get it to run still is in 256 colors. I grabbed some screenshots this time to show what it looks like, in case that helps. You can see where the font/text is having issues.

Without forcing 256 colors, I can't even make it to the title screen without a crash.

I managed to solve the problem by tweaking my nVidia settings. Here's what I did, in case someone else has a similar problem.
- Go to the nVidia Control Panel and set Advanced Settings.
- Under "3D Settings", click "Adjust image settings with preview"
- Click "Use the advanced 3D image settings" and then click "Take me there"
- Click the Program Settings tab
- Click "Add" and find your thLabyrinth.exe file
- Make sure it's selected in the dropdown and apply custom settings. These worked for me:

(Off, 8x, On, Override, 4x, Off, 3, Multiple, Off, Clamp, Quality, Off, Auto, Off, Use 3D application)
And voila:

Curiously, it fixed the text issue, too. I'm not knowledgeable enough on what I just did to know why, but if it works, it works.
