Title: Suwako Help
Post by: mew77 on December 27, 2009, 04:51:17 AM
I want some help in using Suwako. Ever since I tried the character, I've been trying to find a way to use her effectively. Unfortunately I can only sometimes 2-0 normal comps.

Are there any other Suwako players out there who could assist me?

I've got loads of Suwako replays, but none of them (or rather, none of the good ones) are on a computer that I have access to at the moment.

Some essential tips:

-Stay in the air most of the time.  Unless you manage to land a random 5A, Suwako's unable to do anything while grounded.  Also, her flight is highly spirit efficient and doesn't consume air dashes.  Note though that this doesn't mean fly around at the top of the screen, stay relatively low to the ground when on offense.
-Move frequently between air, grounded, and underground statuses.  This allows you to refresh your moveset and continue your assault without opening yourself to retaliation or giving your opponent time to escape.
-Keep out a bullet with high priority or good coverage at all times.  This mostly consists of her default 22 and both alt.214s, though her alt.623 lasers are dense as well.
-Corner your opponent.  Unless fighting Reisen, Remilia, or Sanae, your midscreen damage on a combo on average will be around 2000 damage, while corner combos can easily pass 4000 cardless.
-Regardless of what 22 you're using, keep an effect on your opponent whenever possible.  If using Cursing the Earth, use it on knockdown, and if it gives green aura your opponent's going to eat free combos for the duration.  If using Mishaguji-sama's Curse, pressure your opponent at all times and go for combo/blockstring length over damage, as the degen will help more in the long run (and isn't affected by proration or defense).
-Always, ALWAYS have either her default 214 or an alt.236.  Without these specials, you're completely defenseless when resurfacing from underground.  The alt.236 stone frog comes with the added advantage of chaining into spellcards on block.

Do you have a Nico account by any chance?  I've seen a few decent Suwako players on there (though by no means are they competitive level).
