WARNING: Anathe bait.
Spiderweb Software (http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/) is a small company that makes wRPGs. They're best known for the Exile/Avernum series and the Geneforge series, written by a dude called Jeff Vogel. Possibly some other guys. Anyway, both series are very solid, and worth playing. You may download the demo/unregistered copy at their site for free. You can either order and pay for a full version or you can poke Anathe or myself for an "alternative" way to get it. Either way, you should all try it. I got Kanako to try Avernum 5!!!

Old person moment...
I remember this good series of games since they started the Exile series. Back when the Windows had most all of the games. The game series did well as RPG for three games. Blades of Exile also was personally super as it also provided an editing program to make more scenarios for the game.
Good fun games these I say.

Exile 3 was on a disk of free/shareware games I had years and years ago. I had never played a game like it, and I was quite bad at it for a long time, but after a while I started to have fun and actually played it all the way until the shareware world ended. I once promised myself I would buy it. ...Someday...

Don't worry, you aren't as bad as this:

Heh, back in those days I was a mac user, and those games were mac-exclusive way back. I actually registered blades of exile shortly after it first was released, excellent game. Even before that there was another game using some Dungeons and Dragons rules somewhat. I forget the name, realms maybe? It was quite good.
I didn't like how expensive it was to level up though, really was a drag that I'd spend absolutely no gold at all the entire game on equipment and consumeables, and yet manage to not be able to afford the stats I wanted to purchase when leveling up.
Seriously though, the character customization in those games was only compareable by Fallout IMO, very cool. I still have a longing memory to the cheesy "mmmmm" sound when you pick up food too >=D

Holy CRAP I remember Blades of Exile. I was so young I couldn't buy them or convince my parents to buy them, heh.

Exile is truly an awesome series. Hard as nails if you don't know what you're doing, too. Exile 3 also had one of the biggest game worlds I've seen in an RPG, ever.
