Title: Touhou on Windows 7?
Post by: saiyoucho on November 01, 2009, 02:54:15 PM
Ok since I haven't been able to find any info about it anywhere else, does anyone here know if Touhou works on Windows 7?

I plan on buying a new powerful laptop soon and Windows 7 x64 is a strong OS candidate. But it would really be useful to know if the games work on the OS.

Additional info if they work with XP Mode even if they don't work with normal Windows 7 would also be helpful. (Although it seems XP mode wont work on the laptop I want. >_<)

I've been running it on Windows 7 x64 for a year now. The only notable problem is some graphical mishaps with the title screen menus when in windowed mode, but it doesn't affect the actual gameplay at all.

Though that might just be my graphics card's new drivers or something.

No need for XP compatibility mode. But yeah, runs perfectly.

Sweet. That was exactly what I was hoping to hear.
I'm thinking of picking up an ASUS N90SV-UZ062C. It had pretty much everything except the ability to run XP Mode so I was a bit hesitant.

But in that case, the beast should be sufficient to run Touhou along with more heavier stuff too.

I can second that.  I've had touhou games on an XP install, upgraded to vista, and then upgraded to 7 without any reinstallation of the games, and they work just fine for me.

All work for me as well (W7 x64), but MoF, SA and UFO needs to be started in windowed mode and turned into fullscreen with alt+enter. Starting them in fullscreen causes crash, probably just my display drivers thou.

I also get crashes upon fullscreen starts, but I figured out that if you maximize the window after the game loads up, it should be fine.
