Honestly, I'm not sure whether to put this here or in the Addict Recovery Center, since I've seen topics of this kind in each of them, so I'll put it here and we'll see what happens.
Anyway. With all the "What's your favorite XYZ" topics going around, I figured it would be easiest to just do it on a daily basis on one central topic. So, every day (or so) I'll update it with a new question.
Day 1:
What is your favorite shot type?
I have to say (though this will get me looked-down upon) PCB SakuyaA. All you had to do was dodge, and 4 bombs per life were amazing. Yes, she's not the fairest shot type, but she's still my favorite and that totally has nothing to do with the fact that it's Sakuya. Honorable mention goes to MoF ReimuB...it's hard to top the old standby of needles.
go go go

IN Yuyuko. Massive-yet-powerful spread with a powerful bomb.
Honorable mention to SA MarisaB.
-
Let's see... Emphasis: Favorite.
UFO!SanaeB for awesome focus dancing. I've never had so much fun tapping the shift key and dancing around the stages before.
-
IN Ghost Team, because I just love a resettable aimable shot-type. Also, the speed for both focus and unfocused mode are great. Not counting teams, then either IN Youmu and PCB Sakuya B, again for being aimable.
-
Depends.
My favorite for overall concept is PCB's SakuyaB. Aimable shots at high power, plus her bombs are a lot of fun to use.
My favorite for just being interesting would either be IN Remilia, MoF Marisa A, or SA Marisa B.
-
IN Youmu. Massive damage, with benefits.
-
UFO ReimuA.
-
I'll go with EoSD MarisaB. I don't have that much experience with other random shot types, and she was the first one that I 1cced a Touhou game with.
Plus she's the only Marisa to combine a good Master Spark and a good overall character.
-
Needles.
EoSD Reimu B, PCB Reimu B, IN Border Team, MoF Reimu B, SA Reimu A, UFO Reimu A.
-
SA ReimuA. Needles, but plus the sweet spinning effect and the ability to gap. :V
-
SA Marisa & Patchouli. Switching shot types probably seems complex to most people at first, but it's wonderfully useful.
-
UFO SanaeA I guess, mainly because of the snake motif. Not really that enthused about Touhou shot-types tbh, probably because I've been spoiled by some of the weapon selections in R-Type Final.
Though the game's level design is so shitty you don't get to have much fun with them.
-
Reimu B (or Needles Reimu). Sanae B in UFO is pretty sweet too
-
LLS MarisaA.
...What? I lke it.
-
UFO Sanae B
She's great! Not to mention I really like Sanae, her sprite is rather funny to play with moving around
-
Homing Reimu for the win almost all of the time. :D
Also IN Yuyuko for the MASSIVE SPREAD.
-
PCB sakuyaB
and IN youmu solo
although they are very similar
i love this type of shot.
-
Any Reimu homing except ReimuB in EoSD, ReimuA in SA, and both Sanae shot-types in UFO.
But overall my fave would have to be ReimuA from PCB. That is sex.
-
SA ReimuB. Even though it is defenitely not among the best shots, it has enough homing to make stages alot easier without losing too much firepower and the added piercing damage is nice, too. The gathering ability enables you to not miss any star piece even in the most unfortunate situations.
Oh, and it is Suika. Which is awesome. Yeah.
-
ITT needle fetish
-
PCB SakuyaB and MoF MarisaC.
-
Nice iniative.
I think I'll go with IN Youmu, the high power and speed make her unique, and amazing for time points and killing familiars. And this favorite shottype happens to be on my favorite character :V
Honrable mentions: SanaeB, MoF ReimuB
-
anything on marisa. although i don't quite get the point of shooting behind on UFO Marisa B, because they're weak as hell.. or maybe i should L2play and try out hard and lunatic and find out the benefits for myself.
-

wait
MARISA B SHOOTS BEHIND??
-
Can I say Yuka in PoFV? I love her flower bullets :V
But uh...lesse.
EoSD - MarisaA
PCB - SakuyaB
IN - Youmu Solo/Yukari Solo
MoF - MarisaC
SA - ReimuA/MarisaB
Overall I'd probably go with Yukari Solo if I feel like being cheap and SakuyaB otherwise :V
-
Can I say Yuka in PoFV?
This. If PoFV counts I'm changing my vote to Yuka and Lunasa.
-
wait
MARISA B SHOOTS BEHIND??
Don't be excited, they can barely even kill popcorn fairies that are running by. If MarisaB had no base shot (e.g. the shortwaves actually did damage) it would be a great attack type.
Anyway, I'll have to go with UFO's shot types in general. They were just too pretty to go with anything else, not to mention its one of the most balanced selections in the series (MarisaB DOES NOT COUNT)
SanaeB is awesome, if not a bit too good (High Spread High Damage WHAT). I'm killing jesus with FROGS, YEAAAAH
SanaeA was a great alternative homing shot, with higher % damage in homing, in exchange for non-focused attack and less homing range.
ReimuA made needles actually look pretty (MoF ReimuB OH GOD THE UGLY)
ReimuB should have had spinning options for pretty factor but it was still cool. And FANTASY SEAL SPINNING RAINBOW DESTRUCTION CIRCLE
MarisaA has pretty-tastic lasers that change color when hitting stuff, awesome. (MoF did too but other then the bug she sucked)
MarisaB should have had base shot killed, and the shortwaves made powerful so the spread could actually hurt things, but its pretty. Same notes on bomb; sucky but looks awesome
-
SoEW: the one shot type that makes Reimu slow and shoots lasers when maxed.
PoDD: not sure.
Lotus Land Story: Marisa's lasers.
MS: Yuka.
SG: lasers.
KG: Yuka.
EoSD: Reimu's needles.
PCB: Sakuya's directional knives.
IN: Remi.
PoFV: Yuka.
MoF: Marisa's lasers.
StB: wait, what?
SA: Alice.
-
Laser Marisa across the board.
Marisa/Patchouli combo in SA takes a notable mention, because formation change is a lot of fun.
-
Marisa/Patchouli combo in SA takes a notable mention, because formation change is a lot of fun.
This, I had a blast on easy with that shot type. trying out several ways to own fairies before they get a chance to spawn bullets (*cough* stage 5 and 6!). And it's nice on Orin when she sends those fairies at you, you can still hit her and all the fairies at the same time.
-
Laser Marisa across the board.
Marisa/Patchouli combo in SA takes a notable mention, because formation change is a lot of fun.
actually now that you mention laser marisas, i think the laser marisas from eosd and pcb are pretty shit because they're not constant damage (pcb less so because it's constant when focused). so i take back what i said about all marisa shottypes and revise them to "all marisa shots except eosd marisaB".
and yuyuko makes trash clearing SO FREAKING EASY.
-
SA MarisaB, of course and...hum...IN Remilia...
-
PCB SakuyaA will always have a special place in my heart, due to letting me 1cc the game when I was nowhere good enough to do it legitimately.
-
Yuyuko almost trivializes Hourai Doll as well.
When I've cleared Extra for the first time with Netherworld, Hourai Doll died a bit too early.....I was like "what? it's over already?" :V
-
This will sound nuts, but...SA MarisaC.
Two reasons -
1. I fail miserably at deathbombing, so borders are always nice. Plus it means if I bomb when I don't need to I don't lose as much power.
2. Nitoriiiiii~
-
New day, new question! Today's is...
What is your favorite Stage 4 Theme?
For me, this isn't even a question - Mystic Square's Maple Wise completely clobbers everything else.
...well, not completely. Alice Maestra, UFO's, and even SoEW's are pretty good, and Catfelt Fancy isn't bad.
-
Catfelt Fancy
oh u
For me... Retribution for the Eternal Night and Maple Wise. An Alice Maestra is fine too.
-
SoEW, as terrible as it is, has an intoxicating stage 4 theme.
Below that, Heartfelt/Voile/Voyage.
Below those, everything else.
Below that, MoF's stage 4 theme.
Somewhat related, stage 4 music on a whole is pretty good at being awesome.
-

Either Alice Maestra or Interdimensional Voyage of the Overly Long Even For Touhou Stage 4 Song Title.
-
Maple Wise.
Just below that, Retribution for the Eternal Night ~ Imperishable Night because I love those six notes so much.
-
Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passanger Ship. Like the first time I game overed, I went into practice mode just to listen to it (and, well, for the anchor danmaku, but that's besides the point). It just feels so nostalgic yet new.
-
Stage 4 themes are generally really awesome (Excepting Voile)...
Interdimensional Voyage gets constantly stuck in my head, and I love it.
But on par with that, Retribution for the Endless Night is great to me, for providing a perfectly energetic opening to the stage-spanning Marisa/Reimu fight, and also fitting to both themes.
-
Capital City of Flowers in the Sky is my favorite theme in the series. Easily. Fuck yeah unpopular opinions! :V Alice Maestra is also quite Godly, as is Heartfelt and Voile.
Oh and just to play catchup, my favorite shottype is VIVIT everything. And the Ghost team.
-
Alice Maestra
This. Or Himorogi, Burn in Violet.
-
Alice Maestra and Interdimensional are pretty much tied, for me.
-
Retribution for the Eternal Night ~ Imperishable Night and Heartfelt Fancy
because they fit my mood :V
-
I'd say that Fall of Fall is probably my favorite, though Heartfelt Fancy comes pretty close. Retribution for the Eternal Night and Alice Maestra are okay too. Can't remember Maple Wise, or Himorogi Burn in Violet x:
-
Either UFO's stage 4 theme or PCB's stage 4 theme. SA stage 4 gets honorable mention.
-
A tie between Phantom Ensemble and Murasa's theme. Oooh but I love IN's and marisa's theme as well :( Why couldnt you pick stage 1 or something ._."
-
Kawaii Yokai: Stage themes not character themes. :P
As for me, I'd say Voile, The Magic Library would be my favorite. I just can't go against EoSD. <3
Besides that, Interdimensional Voyage and Heartfelt Fancy are amazing.
-
Alice Maestra and Interdimensional are pretty much tied, for me.
This pretty much.
-
Kawaii Yokai: Stage themes not character themes. :P
As for me, I'd say Voile, The Magic Library would be my favorite. I just can't go against EoSD. <3
Besides that, Interdimensional Voyage and Heartfelt Fancy are amazing.
That character theme is in a stage, isn't it :o Anyway, IN takes the win then
-
Alice Maestra
That's it
-
Probably "The Capital City of Flowers in the Sky".
I don't know, the theme just fits perfectly with the stage's pacing and atmosphere.
UFO's theme is starting to grow on me actually.
Shoot the Bullet's stage 4 theme is also pretty nice. :V
-
Fall of Fall > Heartfelt Fancy > everything else. Heck, Fall of Fall's one of my favourite tracks in the whole of Touhou.
-
Retrubution for the Eternal Night!
-
Probably "The Capital City of Flowers in the Sky".
This, or like most others, Murasa's stage music.
-
Well it used to be Capital City of Flowers in the Sky, until Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship came around and beat it with a stick :V
-
Number three!
What is your favorite Stage 5 Spell Card?
Youmu's Asura Sword takes this one for me (I like the tractor beam effect and it's a doable card).
-
Having only played EoSD out of the possible games the current topic is referring to, I'll have to say Sakuya's Marionette. :V
-
There are two answers to this question.
Nazrin's Greatest Treasure and
ASURA SWORD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGTwRxWugYM#t=5m26)
-
Yuka's Master Spark, if you can count that as a spellcard. I dislike PC stage 5s on a whole (exempting MoF, maybe)
-
Hell God Sword. The mind-numbing agony it caused me in my journey to perfect stage 5 aside, I love it.
-
Tele-Mesmerism, bitches.
-
Just off the top of my head, it's probably Orin's Spleen Eater/Whatever it's called on higher difficulties. I seem to like cards that force you to use most of the screen.
-
"Cat- "Vengeful Cat Spirit's Erratic Step" / "Vajra of Perfect Buddhism" / "Radiant Treasure Gun" / "etc."
The list goes on, since I actually like quite a number of them. In short, I like just about anything that attempts to instill "panic" into a player, save for one certain Spell Card.
If I had to choose a single one, it would be "Vengeful Cat Spirit's Erratic Step".
-
Radiant Treasure Gun and Complete Clarification. Those are charming <3
Not on 1cc runs.
-
I love Stage 5 Spellcards
Just off the top of my head though... Tele-Mesmerism, Illusion Seeker, or Rekindling of Dead Ashes (As utterly bullcrap hard as the last one is). Maybe Absolute Justice too.
-
My favourite spell in the whole series: Sanae's Esoterica "Secretly Inherited Art of Danmaku"
Followed by Nazrin's Jeweled Pagoda "Greatest Treasure"
-
I don't have one.
Is that weird?
-
I like whatever I can dodge really.
-
Salamander Shield, Kaguya rocks
edit: Damn! for got about reimu and marisa part >_<
Invisable Moon, Reisen rocks
-
I don't have one.
In that case your choice defaults to Mima's charged bodyslam from SoEW.
For me, I think Yumeko's swordspam is pretty fun, even if it eats through your bombs lives continues as if they were nothing on lunatic. :V
As for actual spellcards, there's alot of fun ones to choose from. Hm, let's just go with Radiant Treasure.
Hounorable mention to Small Demon's Arrival, because I still have no clue how that card works.
-

Yuka's Master Spark, if you can count that as a spellcard. I dislike PC stage 5s on a whole (exempting MoF, maybe)
Withdrawing this; Satellite Sunflower and Royal Diamond Ring are better.
-
Hell God Sword, Small Demon's Revival, Radiant Treasure Gun. :V Lightbulb bullets are purdy.

I also have an inexplicable fondness for:
-
All of Sanae's spellcards dealing with the stars she makes move in mesmerizing ways.
-
Yumeko's streaming phases.
The whole thing is like OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT HOW DID I DODGE THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT OH GOD I CAN DO THIS FUCK YEAR TAKE THAT BITCH
-
Definitely Spleen Eater. That spellcard is just all kinds of fun.
-
Miracle "The Day the Sea Split"
-
I can't decide between Sea Opening "The Day the Sea Split" and Illusion World "The World".
-
Stages 5 are just too cool for me to choose ONE ATTACK, so let's call it a tie between Yumeko's streams of DOOM and Youmu's speedhax cards. But even that leaves tons of awesome stuff out........
-
Jeweled Padoga "Radiant Treasure Gun"
-
4.
Who is your favorite Stage 2 Boss?
I'm not that big a fan of the Stage 2 bosses overall. That said...I think I'll give this one to Kogasa, for sheer cheeriness in the face of despair.
-
Kogasa.
I don't even like any other stage two bosses, so this is pure process of elimination.
EDIT: Well, Hina isn't bad either, come to think of it. She gets an honourable mention.
-
I'm gonna go out of the normal and say Meira.
-
Who is your favorite Stage 2 Boss?
Kurumi all the way.
-
Also a heads-up: I can't post Friday nights, and won't get on Saturday night either this week (at least, not until very late, most likely), so...Daily Excepting Weekends Touhou Best Topic?
-
CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!
this time i know i got the right one ;)
-
Parsee! Honourable mentions to Chen and Kogasa. :V
-
Parsee, hands down.
Honorable mention to Mystia.
-

How about one of us hijacks the thread at this time?
I am going to say... Luize.
Honorable mention goes to Kogasa for giving me a surprise (!), and one to Parsee for graze-related reasons.
Dishonorable mention to Mystia for that second non-spell.
EDIT:
Mystia's final non-spellcard.
I mean seriously what the fuck.
:3
-
Kogasa.
Honorable mention to Hina.
-
Kogasa, hands down.
Honorable mention to Cirno because she's popular and I'm surprised nobody's even mentioned her yet.
-
Tie between Luize, Hina, and Mystia.
-
How about one of us hijacks the thread at this time?
I am going to say... Luize.
Congratulations! You've been awarded the "Shouldn't Have Opened My Mouth" Award! You get Friday nights, Baity. Enjoy!
Also...Luize? Really? I don't like her character design, I don't like her boss fight, I abhor her theme music (least favorite questions will come) and I just generally dislike her all around.
...so there.
-
Congratulations! You've been awarded the "Shouldn't Have Opened My Mouth" Award! You get Friday nights, Baity. Enjoy!
Also...Luize? Really?
Yay, I get to ask a question weekly~!
Simple, patterned danmaku. No gimmicks, just pattern reading.
Edited my above post with an appropriate quite by the way.
-
Favorite stage 2.....?
Parsee.
I would say Kogasa, but I don't play UFO on Hard yet :V
-
Toss up between Kogasa and Chen.
Honorable mention to Meira.
-
Gameplay-wise, Chen. I would have chosen Kogasa if it weren't for Parasol Star Symphony, since I really like her last two cards. Character-wise, Kogasa wins with no contest.
-
Kogasa.
I don't even like any other stage two bosses, so this is pure process of elimination.
/me sobs in corner
And Cirno. Kurumi is awfully close though, being both a friendly neighborhood vampire (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire) and invoking the trope "Vampires are Sex Gods" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VampiresAreSexGods)...in my opinion at least. :V
Actually at this point, I wonder if I actually like Kurumi more than Cirno and I just don't know it. :O
-
Completely torn between:

Little miss 7200RPM.
-
I'm gonna go out of the normal and say Meira.
Holy crap someone else was thinking that. Although I changed my mind. I'll have to say Parsee, by about a country mile over anyone else on the basis of sheer danmaku creativity... but Cirno and Mystia deserve a mention too for tricky danmaku.
-
spell card wise - CHEN! (I looooove shikigami flight)
Coolness wise - CIRNO! (come on, she IS the strongest after all...)
Honorable mentions: Mystia and kogasa.
-
Seriously guys? No Cirno? What a shame.
-
Hina and Kogasa
-
Probably Hina.
Both the stage theme and boss theme are damn epic :V
-
Kogasa, easily.
-
Bearing in mind that I've only played against (and therefore only really remember) her and Chen, I'm gonna have to go with Nineball on this one.
She needs hugs :<
-
Kogasa
(wow, that was a long post)
-
Cirno all the way!
-
Kogasa ! Kogasa ! <3
Oh yeah, btw, Demonbman where did you get your avie from ? That one looks really nice and has a P4 feel to it if I'm not mistaken.
-
Tie between Mystia and Cirno.
Cirno for her elegant attacks, viz. her first noncard, Icicle Fall normal, and Perfect Freeze are some of my favorites in the series.
Mystia for her surprise factor (Much more so than Kogasa...)- the first time I played Imperishable Night, the darkness absolutely killed me and it was so very much fun! Plus, you gots to love her dialogue~
-
Cirno.
-
I also support Meira, but she's overshadowed by other stage 2 bosses. Looking at her character from her dialogue in SoEW made me like her a lot after I suspected that she's one of those people who sit in one spot for hours trying to come up with a cool plan and have it be totally ruined by the person she's meant to spring it on.
-
After playing UFO hard, I'm definitely changing my vote to Kogasa~
-

I should record and upload that video of me not only perfecting lunatic Kogasa, but doing it PERFECTLY in time to the music. Seriously, Kogasa is fun stuff, as is the rest of UFO. It's quite refreshing to have a game that will relentlessly kick your ass even at my level of play~
-
It's quite refreshing to have a game that will relentlessly kick your ass even at my level of play~
This. To some extent.
Oh, and I might be late in getting my question up today but we'll see :V
-
It was either Kogasa or Parsee, but in the end I chose Parsee.
For jealousy moe oh god.

You people blow that fight way out of proportion, I'm 100% on her midboss card and no-deathed her the first time I played her without even seeing gameplay vids beforehand.
Now Ichirin on the other hand...
-
Chen. her theme is really pretty, and her fight is fun.
please note: i've never played seriously above Normal.
-
You people blow that fight way out of proportion, I'm 100% on her midboss card and no-deathed her the first time I played her without even seeing gameplay vids beforehand.
Now Ichirin on the other hand...
I find Kogasa Hard a more consistant fight than Nazrin Hard (Consistant in that I expect to bomb Water-Repelling Bone-Dry Monster and to capture everything else - yes, including the Train, which is far easier than Easy [wtf?] - meanwhile, Nazrin Pendulum on Hard is bullcrap and harder to capture than on Lunatic!).
Kogasa Lunatic, however, can go burn in a fire for being complete and utter bullshit. Until I saw the 'safe' spot, I thought her last nonspell was impossible... and now that's one of her EASIER attacks T.T
-

This is 100% what I think of it.
Though I've got a 50% capture rate on Nazrin Pendulum and haven't died to it yet.
And I haven't tried lunatic Kogasa, but from videos I'm sure she's a terror to fight.

By request...
5.
Bringing back an old thread indirectly:
Who is your (Touhou) "Arch-Nemesis"?
EDIT: This is still classified under the "Best", since they're clearly showing their superiority over you.
You know, that one boss that you hate so much, because she always kills you in some humiliating / annoying manner. I'll answer this soon, gimme a moment. Need to duck out for a while.
-
Satori...
SATORI!
SAAAATOOOORIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! >:(

Back. I'm choosing Byakuren because of this:

-
Youmu.
i can't count how many seemingly perfect PCB 1cc attempts have been ruined by her.
-
Sakuya. If you knew just how many of my no-bomb EoSD runs have ended at Killing Doll, you'd probably hate her too.
And even if it's technically not Touhou (zhomg me posting non-Touhou in a Touhou thread, that's just unheard of), I'd also like to give an honorable mention to this bitch. (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Yuitia)
-
Hm... Can I choose every single stage 5 boss that isn't Reisen? ._. Oh, and SoEW Marisa, and Patchouli, and Reimu, and SWR Yukari, and... >_<
If I have to settle for just one... Orin. With honorable mention to SWR Yukari.
EDIT: Oh, how the heck did I forget this even though I'm playing PoFV right now? STUPID FREAKING AYA KOMACHI AND SHIKI!!! GO DIE IN A FIRE, AND TAKE REIMU WITH YOU!!!!
-
ICHIRIN I FUCKING HATE YOU AND YOUR WHOLE FAMILY AND YOUR DOG.
-
Cirno.
Just.... Cirno.
Emphasis on "humiliating".
-
EX-Kogasa.
I once ragequit upon reaching EX-Kogasa before the dialogue even finished.
-
(http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/7412/8204.jpg)
Shou as well to an extent, but mainly her.
-
Kotohime. STOP IT KOTOHIME. STOP IT.
For the "regular" shooters, a toss-up between Minoriko and cat Orin. Though pretty much anyone in SoEW could've claimed the top spot had I played SoEW more than three times, more than enough to convince me that it's a stupid game.

what the hell 763 don't you people eat and sleep and such
Uh, how did you mistake that for a real screenshot? Just look at it. I'm actually something like 2/20 on Byakuren's first card.
-
Definetly Flandre, me attempting EoSD extra is something from the past which I do not like to talk about.
I won of her, tough! Only once, but oh how I rubbed her dead corpse over the floor and had apple pie served in her intestines!
-
ORIN! ORIN! ORIN!
She's pretty much the only reason why I haven't 1cced SA with more characters than the A weapons...
-
Youmu.
I cannot capture ANYTHING she throws at me.
On ANY modes.

Shikieiki
Seriously, she's unfair harder than the rest of the game combined what the hell.
I can't count the amount of times that she just refused to take a hit for god knows how long.
I don't think I've ever beaten her without losing less than three lives...
Dishonorable mention to SoEW Marisa as long as I don't just bomb spam her to death.
-

ICHIRIN
MOTHER FUCKING ICHIRIN
-
Patchouli she walks in and ruins at least 100% of my EoSD attempts.
-
shikieki Shikieki SHIKIEKI SHIKIEKI GOD DAMN MOTHERFUCKING SHIKIEKI
-
Shikieiki
Seriously, she's unfair harder than the rest of the game combined what the hell.
I can't count the amount of times that she just refused to take a hit for god knows how long.
I don't think I've ever beaten her without losing less than three lives...
This exactly.
-
either Murasa or.... KANAKO

KAGUYAAAAAAAAAAA
and sort of Yumemi
My IN Lunatic 1cc had 5/0 going into Stage 6 and 0/0 going out, and I was so close to dying it wasn't even funny. This was a good run. :V
-
Shikieiki. She's effing impossible to beat and her fight always ends up being one difficulty higher than the mode you're playing on.

-
Damn Shou's Curvy lazerz!!! >:(
Doesn't she have only one curvy laser attack?
-
I was going to say SoEW Marisa, but then I remembered that I had decided not to give a damn about that game anymore, so...
So I will go with Kaguya. Not with IN Kaguya, though. I go with StB 9-6 Kaguya. Easily the one attack that I have failed the most. And when my PC exploded, the StB version that I had backed up didn't have the capture acknowledged, so I may force myself to do this again. I may... *shudder*
My capture was try number 12XX. Go figure.
-
Doesn't she have only one curvy laser attack?
uhhh...*checks* all of her non attacks and Valient Treasure, they are still annoying, and im gonna refraze that All of her lazerz!!

Orin, pretty much. >:(

Only ST6 Hard card which I still didn't capture. It sucks. Hard.

Now Shikieiki and Kotohime win big points for being LOL I KILL YOU in their respective games, but this one goes without qualifier or question to GODDAMN AYA SHAMEIMARU GODDAMNIT YOU CHEATING EVIL TENGU HONESTLY WHAT THE HELL WAS ZUN THINKING I HATE YOU MORE EVERY TIME I SEE YOU DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE GODDAMNIT DIE ALREADY WHAT HOW THE HELL DID I DIE GODDAMNIT
...*cough* Anyway.
He's back, and he's learned new tricks!
The Shim is here with number Six!
Which is your favorite Stage 1 (stage portion only)?
I'm...going to go with PCB's, for one simple reason: I CAN RELIABLY CLEAR IT ON LUNATIC WITHOUT DYING. That is the ONLY Stage 1 (except maybe SoEW, but SCREW THAT) that I can do that with.
-
UFO. Unless I miss an UFO, it's never a reset....unlike MoF.
-
UFOOOOO
-
LLS Stage 1 because it has two stage themes.
-
LLS Stage 1 because it has two stage themes.
Points for originality!
-
PCB for being the shortest!
it's also the only one i never reset on Hard =P
-
MS, for Dream Express.
-
MS, for Dream Express and the fact that even though it's really easy and also really long it somehow still manages to be entertaining.
-
EoSD for never ever ever ever making me have to reset, unlike SA (I hate you sin wave bullet fairies)
In all seriousness, probably UFO for having an awesome theme, awesome graphics, and a decent design as well.
-
It's a dead heat between MoF and UFO. I prefer MoF's background & music (and Shizuha > Nazrin), but UFO's is a bit more interesting in terms of design.
-
They all suck o.O
But maybe PoFV or MoF...
I just did a PCB run and I am scratching what I first said, PCB is awesome!
-
EDIT: ... UFO. The stage portion is manageable on all modes. Also, lovely theme.
While MoF is pretty BS on Lunatic >.>
-
SA.
I love the progression and timing of A Dark Blowhole, and the enemy patterns are awesome fun to graze on for being totally crazy-fast on higher difficulties.
-
MS, for Dream Express.
This, pretty much. I'm not so fond of the other Stage 1 themes.
-
I'll go with SA. It's always fun to play.
-
GAH, BAD! Forgot completely to update, bad!
What is your favorite theme from PoDD?
This is a really tough one. I'm going to have to, albeit barely, say Vanishing Dream (Kana). So close behind are Rikako, Kotohime and Mima, but Vanishing Dream...
-
IN Youmu. Very useful.
-
That one theme during that one stage. The one that goes da da daaaaaa dudududududu daaa.
(I've never played PoDD)
-
I don't really know any of the PC98 themes except for Alice's EX, Shinki's and Bad Apple!!.
:V
-
I don't really like PoDD's soundtrack all that much, but Vanishing Dream is a very good song. Reincarnation is alright once in a while too.
-
Dream War is gorgeous, even for the ridiculous length of it compared to other Touhou tracks.
However, I love Strawberry Crisis!! +_+
-
PoDD... this game's soundtrack doesn't have to back down before the windows games in any way. Most of the character themes are simply great. Reincarnation, Dream War, Dimensional Dream, Maniacal Princess, Strawberry Crisis...
Still, there is one song that towers above the rest, and that is Kana's theme, Lost Dream. So... beautiful...
-
Lost Dream, Reincarnation, Reimu's theme that I have forgotten the name, strawberry crisis!! is a bit boring IMO
-
Didn't play PoDD ._.
-
Ellen's the one who doesn't age, right?
Her theme is <3
-
Lost Dream, Lost Dream, Lost Dream.
I adore Yumemi and I love Strawberry Crisis, but Lost Dream is just fantastic.
-
One to spot the burned-out bulb, his supervisor to authorize a requisition, a requisition typist, twelve clerks to file the requisition copies, a mail clerk to deliver the requisition to the purchasing department, a purchasing agent to order the bulb, a clerk to forward the purchasing order, a clerk to mail-order--
I'm answering a different question because I don't know PoDD's music.
-
Reincarnation times a thousand.
-
Empty Girl,Lost Dream, or Maniacal Princess?
I just can't decide...
-
Lost Dream War.
You cannot argue with this logic.
-
HHNNNNGGG so many fantastic tracks.
I'll go with Fight it Out! followed by Strawberry Crisis!! and Mystic Oriental Love Consultation.
Honorable mention to Love of Magical Chimes. which is the sound of VICTORY
-
Never played PoDD
-
Reincarnation. Just, Reincarnation.
-
Strawberry crisis, of course!
-
Can I choose an unused track? (from PoDD of course)
If so, I choose Starbow Dream. Then, next would be Phantasmagoria (another unused) :V
If I can't (though it's still technically within the bounds of PoDD), then I'll just be going along with Lost Dream like a whole load of other people~
-
I don't remember PoDD themes, except for three, which are Mystic Oriental Love Consultation, Strawberry Crisis and Reincarnation.
Between the three, Reincarnation.
-
Lost Dream Lost Dream Lost Dream Lost Dream Lost Dream Lost Dream Lost Dream Lost Dream
A Sailor of Time is fine too.
-
Reincarnation tied with Lost Dream
-
Rikako's theme!
-
Hahaha. Yes. Vanishing Dream ~ Lost Dream it is.
Then Dimensional Dream, Strawberry Crisis!!, and Sailor of Time, in that order.
Also,
Honorable mention to Love of Magical Chimes.
-
Maniacal Princess, with Dream War being a close second.
-
Aight, number 8.
What is your least favorite Stage 2 Boss Theme?
This is actually pretty easy; most of the Stage 2 bosses have pretty good music, but Luize's Spiritual Heaven just flat-out sucks. It's one of the exceedingly few Touhou tracks I don't love to death.
-
Dark Side of Fate. I've heard it waaaay too many times during my scorerun(s) after a few hundred restarts.
-
I was going to say Kogasa's theme because it vaguely reminded me of Rin's theme and is overall uninteresting, but I just listened to it outside of the game and I have to say it's better than I've been giving it credit for.
I suppose I'll have to say Dark Side of Fate for this one, considering Dark Road is so amazing it seems underwhelming in comparison.
-
I'd have to say... Scarlet Phoneme honestly. It just... I dunno, doesn't stand out to me.
And I happen to LIKE Spiritual Heaven <.<
-
Sorry Kurumi, but as hot as you are, your theme's repetitiveness is one notch too high.
-
Considering I don't even remember what Luize's theme sounds like despite loving MS... yeah, I think we have a "winner".
-
Haven't played PoDD yet but ... Strawberry Cr
yisis!!
-
Pick a PC-98 stage 2 boss theme. Any of them. Except that's kinda hard because I don't remember how any of them go.
-
Scarlet Phenomne. I love Kurumi, but her theme SUCKS. :[
-
Scarlet Phenomne is uninteresting.
However, Power of Darkness is even more uninteresting, so that one would definitively be my vote.
On an unrelated note, apparently my PC's low amount of RAM makes the sound of the PC-98 emulator lag like crazy if I have it running in the background for the music. Daaaaymn!
-
Withered Leaf, you're half the reason why I hate fighting Chen. The other half is the stage itself.
-
Scarlet Pheromone for worst, I don't like Parsee theme but it's not a very bad theme.
Also, Spiritual Heaven rocks.
-
Dark side of Fate (Hina's theme MoF), out of all the games I played I really liked most of the stage 2 themes (cirno <3) but Hina's is the only one which I don't like at all, the pace, the tune... meh
-
I know all of the PC-98 stage 2 boss themes sorta suck, but...
I really don't like Deaf To All But The Song. I just really, really don't.
-
The Bridge People No Longer Cross
Yeah that's right I said it. It sucks and it's boring.
-
What is your least favorite Stage 2 Boss Theme?
Stage 2 Boss Theme?
Boss Theme?

Dark Side of Faith

Haven't played PC-98 (and don't intend to) so...Dark Side of Fate I guess?

What is?
'Cause if it's Deaf To All But The Song, then I'm getting out of here~
-
Power Of Darkness, very boring and repetitive.
-
Ok then.
Beloved Tomboyish Girl. I think there are some PC-98 songs I absolutely hate, but I don't remember them :V
-
I actually like The Power of Darkness. >_>
-
And I like all three of the stage 2 themes in PC-98.
Go figure.

Tsk tsk tsk. In general I actually prefer PC-98 stage themes to Windows stage themes. Boss themes are a different story.

Even though I love Hina... Dark Side of Fate... it's just missing something.

Stop smoking crack guys, it's easily the best st2 boss theme :V

I actually like The Power of Darkness. >_>
The first 10 seconds or so are fine, and then it gets repetitive as all hell. Still better than Spiritual Heaven, though.

No that's Green-eyed Jealousy :V
-
I've Never really liked Withered Leaf.

I don't smoke but i'll definitely say its the UFO one even though i don't like that game at all.

you guys clearly haven't heared beloved tomboyish daughter, cause that is easily the best.
Bacas!
-
Don't misread the question people :V
What is your least favorite Stage 2 Boss Theme?
-
I'm gonna have to go with what others have been saying and go with Dark Side of Fate. It's just so boring compared to the stage theme.
Sorry Hina.
-
you guys clearly haven't heared beloved tomboyish daughter, cause that is easily the best. Bacas!
Oh right, I forgot about that theme. That's definitely worse than Dark Side of Fate. :V

I hate you all guys.
Dark Side of Fate is awesome. :V

I hate you all guys.
Dark Side of Fate is awesome. :V
/fanboy
Not compared to Dark Road it's not. :V
-
Parsee's theme is just rather uninspired. Once you get past the whole "omg its a sad song thats different than wut zun does" thing, it's really repetitive and just not fun to listen to.
-
Not compared to Dark Road it's not. :V
I don't feel like starting a "no u" argument right now :V
-
I don't feel like starting a "no u" argument right now :V
I accept your apology. :V

you guys clearly haven't heared beloved tomboyish daughter, cause that is easily the best. Bacas!
Yet my point still stands.
Doesn't help when I really hate the instruments ZUN used in EoSD.
-
Worst stage 2 boss theme? Withered leaf probably. i never liked Beloved Tomboyish daughter either.
-
I don't know all stage 2 themes are pretty down there.
Best final boss theme?
For me - Utsuho by far
-
How can you people not like Beloved Tomboyish Daughter *walks out and slams the door*
-
Sorry Kawaii but i'll have to agree.
Beloved Tomboyish Daughter is the worst S2 Boss Theme in my opinion, but that's not to say that its bad. Its more like the others being better.
But if it makes you happy, it can tie with Mystias.
-
Its hard for people who like all themes..but my least favourite would have to be....Yaminochikara...errr Meira's theme from SoEW
-
Its hard for people who like all themes..but my least favourite would have to be....Yaminochikara...errr Meira's theme from SoEW
Oh yeah... i forgot about the PC-98 songs. Yeah, that makes it pretty no-contest for me. Angel's Legend from HRtP. (It is the second boss...)
If that would be cheating then i'll pick Meira too.

I like it a lot too, actually 8O
It's better than most PC-98 stage 2 boss tracks @_@ Even if it is really sorta repetitive and all.
And I really wanna hear ZUN redo his PC-98 songs with current instruments.
-
pppffff you PC-98 deniers, HRtP has one of the best soundtracks in the series (which is even better when Anex86 kindly removes the mostly silly percussion)
One very cool dude (http://www.youtube.com/user/tamahagane) has put together the HRtP soundtrack as a playlist on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/tamahagane#g/c/CD0FF1519A6E496A). "Unfortunately" it is correcly emulated and therefore includes the percussion.
-
:<
I swear I am the only person in the entire world to like Angel Legend.
Sometimes I feel this way about "Now Die For the Debt You Have Accumulated" or whatever Sariel's theme translates to. I've only managed to find one remix/arrange of it in existence, and it didn't even sound much like it...
And yeah Meira's theme is gross, IMO. Thats my least favorite Stage 2 boss theme. That or CHEEEEEEEEN (I love you Chen but get a new theme)
-
Sometimes I feel this way about "Now Die For the Debt You Have Accumulated" or whatever Sariel's theme translates to. I've only managed to find one remix/arrange of it in existence, and it didn't even sound much like it...
Oh, I LOVE that song. It's a shame there aren't more remixes. Same for Decoration Battle, Magic Square, and Spiritual Heaven IMO.
-
While we're hijacking the topic to discuss the HRtP soundtrack, I'd also like to say that it's amusing how ZUN apparently thought anyone would listen to more than 10 seconds of "Civilization of Magic" (Sariel's second theme) in-game.
-
Dark Side of Fate is awesome :V
-
Either Cirno's or Kogasa's theme.
-
While we're hijacking the topic to discuss the HRtP soundtrack, I'd also like to say that it's amusing how ZUN apparently thought anyone would listen to more than 10 seconds of "Civilization of Magic" (Sariel's second theme) in-game.
I thought Sariel's second theme was "Let's All Die Together"?
-
I thought Sariel's second theme was "Let's All Die Together"?
Nope.
Its kinda hard to get the name wrong considering ZUN named Civilization of Magic in english ;)
-
I've seen it named "Let's All Die Together" "Let's Die Altogether" "Let's Die All Together" and "Civilization of Magic" myself, so... =/
-
The remix of it in MS is called "Civilization of Magic," but the original in HRtP is "Let's all Die Together."
Speaking of which, someone retranslated all the songs (and filled in the music room notes) and seems to have retitled Sariel's theme. Its new title is "Now, Until the Moment you Die." Admittingly this makes little sense, especially since that "now" is the same as Byakuren's "Now, in the name of the 3 treasures~"
-
Haaaah...tired much.
What is your favorite Stage 6 Boss Theme?
Let's just get right down to it. I used to say Suwa Foughten Field, hands down, but...
...not musically speaking, but I'm probably going to just BARELY have Infinite Being lose out to Yuka's Inanimate Dream, because not even Nuclear Fusion says FINAL BOSS like that one. (Musically I'd give Infinite Being the edge.)
-
Suwa Foughten Field easily.
If we can change this to "favorite final boss theme" though, then I'd say Unknown X ~ Unfound Adventure.
-
Mmmmmm. Close call between Suwa Foughten Field and History of the Moon, with Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome and Cosmic Mind trailing close behind.
... I'm just a big fan of the stage 6 boss themes in general. Generally moreso than the EX boss themes, too.
-
Tie between Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome and Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion.
-
Septette for the Dead Princess.
-
Eh, I can't really settle on just one. Aside from Lunatic Princess and the Phantasmagoria final bosses they're all amazing themes. I'll just pick Infinite Being for no particular reason at all.
-
Border Of Life by a long shot.
-
*Sigh*
Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess barely tops out against Septette for the Dead Princess.
I hate to say this, but PC-98's Final Boss Themes are not as impressive as Windows'.
-
Cosmic Mind.
Duh.
-
If Cosmic Mind kept up the momentum from the first 1:30, it might be my favorite. Sadly it does the same thing as Missing Power and settles into going into a weaker section of the song for a long period of time.
-
Hm... Honestly, I'm not sure. Septette is beautiful, but it's severely harmed by the instruments from EoSD IMO. Border of Life and Cosmic Mind are also beautiful, and don't have Septette's problem. Surprisingly, I think Complete Darkness is in the running as well, despite having the PC-98 chiptune deal... Hm...
I'd say Cosmic Mind really. I can't put my finger on WHY it's so beautiful, but it is.
Also, this is kinda off-topic, but even though I normally prefer songs that are kind of intense and fast-paced (not sure how else to describe it) final boss themes in Touhou usually catch my attention just by being plain... I dunno, beautiful. Eh... Not that good at trying to say what I mean <_<;
-
Infinite Being. Speaking of which, I could probably pull off a Perfect Stage 6 earlier than a Stage 5 one.
-
Septette is beautiful, but it's severely harmed by the instruments from EoSD IMO.
I agree so much. I love Septette in remixes (even just the IaMP/SWR versions), but I don't like the EoSD instrumentation either - I think the only piece I like as it appeared in-game from EoSD is Luna Dial.
-
Cosmic Mind. Infinite Being is a close second.
Honorable mention: Evening Star.
-
Border of Life due to it's epic-ness.
-
Cosmic Mind is the best freaking final boss theme ever.
-
The amount of people who actually like Cosmic Mind makes me very sad.
-
Man I must be the only person who likes Nuclear Fusion. To me it's one of the most intense "boss songs" Zun has made, and one of the few times his trumpet sounds work.
Honorable Mention: Inanimate Dream.
-
The amount of people who actually like Cosmic Mind makes me very sad.
I probably would've said Cosmic Mind as well, but I did climb up the "Emotional Skyscraper" (http://replays.gensokyou.org/index.php?u=BaitySM&g=12&p=&t=0&d=4&ch=0) which left me quite traumatized.
-
Whereas I scaled the skyscraper like King Kong (without the dying part). ;D
/me hides
-
Whereas I scaled the skyscraper like King Kong (without the dying part). ;D
/me hides
But you had to go and think it was a scratching pole.
-
Septette is beautiful, but it's severely harmed by the instruments from EoSD IMO.
This is a good sentence. Septette is the best thing ZUN's ever composed, but its execution is somewhat flawed. Even so, it's probably my favourite final boss theme (based on what I like to listen to outside the game, not while playing).
Honourable mention goes to Suwa Foughten Field. Less honourable mention goes to Cosmic Mind.
-
Question was favorite stage 6 theme so I would go: Septette for the Dead Princess. ZUN + recompose Septette with current style = major win.
I see also that people are overrating Cosmic mind - emotional skyscraper, but let us not forget the question was: "favorite" and not "the best" because Yuyuko wins in that category.
-
Either Border of Life (Yuyuko's 2nd theme, when you do that survival card in the end) or Flight of the Bamboo Cutter.
Honorable mentions to: mof, sa and ufo... yes that is pretty much all games I played but eosd (which is a nice theme aswell ._.)
-
This one is hard in a different way...
I can't decide between Suwa Foughten Field and Emotional Skyscraper.
I just can't.
Honorable mentions goes to Border of Life, and if it counts- Catastrophe in Bhava-agra ~ Wonderful Heaven.
-
Septette for the Dead Princess
-
Septette for me. I like it the way it originally is. I haven't heard a remix that stays true to the melody and theme.
Much Honorable Mention goes to Emotional Skyscraper. Almost came close but I feel that Septette has a much stronger rhythm guiding it throughout. It's also fairly disjointed, but I like to mentally separate it into various sections when I listen to it so I get the powerful feeling of the instruments without the strange overall feeling.
Second Honorable mention goes to Flight of the Bamboo Cutter, just because it reminds me of something that I can't put my finger on, and I haven't figured out what it is yet :P.
-
Cosmic Mind is the best freaking final boss theme ever.
This, but honorable mention to History of the Moon.
Lunatic Princess can go die.
-
I have to admit, pretty much every final boss track is wonderful. I haven't ever been disappointed, even with PC-98.
However, as the specification is stage 6 boss, that rules out a few games by itself. Plus, for me, it takes Border of Life down a notch or three, because that's two separate themes and they only work best together.
And like a lot of people, I think the instrumentation in 6 keeps it from being awesome, although it's still damn good.
I'm going with Cosmic Mind as a favourite right now, given that set of circumstances and how beautiful it is. Although Infinite Being is close behind 'cause it's wonderful.
If it's any final boss overall though... probably Yuyuko's or Kaguya's fight as accompanied by the music due to epic buildup and last spell; or, for a single track, Fate of Sixty Years
-
Border of Life
Border of Life
Border of Life
Border of Life
Border of Life
Border of Life
Fucking final spell Border of Life!
-
I like them all, but if I have to choose Favorite it would have to be Nuclear Fusion.
-
And I really wanna hear ZUN redo his PC-98 songs with current instruments.
A few people actually remade a few PC-98 songs to what they would sound like in the Windows games, and vice-versa.
Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVZvghFJ04w) have MS stage 3 remastered.
Or Mima's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTDwvMTmXo4&feature=related) theme remastered.
My favourite for stage 6 would probably be Infinite Being. It fits perfectly for the fight with Shinki.
Can't wait for them to remaster that song.
-
Fate of Sixty Years.
You all suck.
-
Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVZvghFJ04w) have MS stage 3 remastered.
I...fucking cried...my beautiful favourite Stage 3 theme...so beautiful...
-
Actually, I yet have to hear a bad stage 6 theme from ZUN. So far none.
-
Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon
Seriously the lack of this theme in this topic is depressing.
-
Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon
Seriously the lack of this theme in this topic is depressing.
Tbh, this theme is the third weakest I've heard from ZUN in the windows game.
The second being Septette (orginal from EoSD) and the worst being Suwa Foughten Field.
-
and the worst being Suwa Foughten Field.
what
...what
Suwa Foughten Field is nothing short of a masterpiece.

About 150 here! lol :V
-
It doesn't stand out at all to me.
When I first heard it, and beat Kanako, I'm all, "That's it? That's it? I had to fight an ugly-ass goddess with a pretty bad theme? My god ZUN you definitely lost it."
-
Final Boss would have to be Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizone...but on another note curse you PCB!
-
it gets annoying after 118 VoWG attempts:V
By the time I beat EoSD lunatic stage 6 without dying, I had played the stage over 250 times, and I still loved Septette. I agree with whoever said they enjoy the original best.
-

Too bad it doesn't actually sound like a good emulation ZUN's work, but these are good nonetheless.

What is your favorite bomb?
Now MASTA SPAAAAAAAAAAAAK is definitely awesome, but I think this one goes to SA ReimuA, for utility. It is absurdly easy to get back all your power, done right, and is still the best bomb in the game on the best shot type. SA MarisaC also gets an honorable mention for card capping purposes.
-
Private Square. It's so much fun to use and so useful too. :D
-
Favorite?
UFO!MarisaB's "Ultimate Short-Wave".
-
YAY! Favourite Bomb! Froggy Nuke wipes em' all out!
-
I'm gonna go with the obvious and say Master Spark. Dear god, the first time I saw it, I was like: O_O "WHOA!!! ...That's incredible!" Awesome beam that hits the whole screen? Yes please!
-
There are some kickass bombs in this series, both in looks and utility, but my vote has to go for froggy nuke. It was enough to make me think Sanae B was worth my time for a while.
-
Either PCB SakuyaB's Private/Perfect Square, or SA ReimuA's bomb.
-
I like Master Spark, Optical Camouflage, whatever youmu's was, and SanaeA's
-
A toss-up between Private Square (PCB Sakuya B) and Slash of Present (IN Youmu).
Both scream "screw it, I'm not dodging this shit", each in their own (very) different way. Master Spark? Slash of Present would slice it apart.
-
Private Square is worth something? It's been ages since I've played Sakuya B, but I remember it being worthless for anything other than stalling out stage sections.
-
That's because you don't play for score. :V
-
Stardust Reverie, mofos
-
I am, and shall always be, MASTAH SPAAAAAAAKU fan
-
Fantasy Seal for the win.
Seriously, Reimu orbs almost never suck.
-
ReimuA's for TH11, Wily Toad for TH12,and Master Spark for all of the others ;D.
-
Fantasy Seal for the win.
Seriously, Reimu orbs almost never suck.
I have to join with this one. Reimu's balls, they always work.
-
I'm a fan of Love Sign: Non-Directional Laser, myself. Spinning~
-
ARTFUL SACRIFICE !
...
Just kidding (lolHRtP)
Hum...for favorite bomb...
Final Spark~
-
Return Inanimatedness is beautiful.
-
Favorite? I like reimu's IN bomb, because it explodes in a nice rythm. Masterspark is awesome aswell... but so are sanae's bombs and youmu's.... aaaaaa!! I can't decide ._.
-
Deadly Butterfly "Everlasting Nap".
-
For sheer destructive potential, I'll go with IN Reimu's [Fantasy Seal -Blink-].
For aesthetics, UFO's version of MASUTAAAAAAAH SUPAAAAAAAAAAAAKU. It's absolutely beautiful to watch.
Too bad it makes you move about as fast as a crippled turtle :V
-
FROG NUKE, followed closely by Private Square.
-
FUCK YEAH FROG NUKE
but probably youmu's
-
MoF MarisaB lololol
just kidding! :V Sanae's froggies FTW.
-
Frog Nuke.
For sheer OMGCOVERSCREENBOMBOSHI-
-
UFO's SanaeB
DEFINITELY
-
Non-Directional Laser FTW!
-
(http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/8365/bomb1r.jpg) (http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/8007/bomb3p.jpg)
Frog Nuke is a nuke and is therefore awesome. Red the Nightless Castle is pretty in a red sort of way.
-
Uwabami Breakers totally has the best bomb ever. :V
Honorable mention to Portrait of Strange Relic's bombs for originality.
I love drawing shapes before they all fly towards the enemies. :D
As for in an actual Touhou game, I'd say Yuyuko's last spell.
-
Uwabami Breakers totally has the best bomb ever. :V
I wanted to mention that but figuring it is a touhou topic, I couldn't =S
-
Marisa's EoSD Master Spark! I don't like the design of the Spark in UFO as much, especially the moving 'whoosh laser effects'.
-
Normally I wouldn't post here but...
The only solution is more Master Spark! Any of them!
-
EoSD: Master Spark
PCB: Private Square
IN: Anything from Yuyuko, Youmu, or Remilia
Mo- o wait
SA: AYAYAYA Reimu C.
UFO: Reimu B.
My favorite of all of them?
Youmu from Imperishable Night.
-
oh man oh man I'm still so freakin' happy right now
What is your favorite Stage 3 Boss theme?
Now I'm not all that big a fan of these. A couple days ago I probably would have given it to Doll Judgment. However, after looping it for hours on end, I am convinced that Bet On Death, the theme of the obscure and what-the-hell-is-this Five Magic Stones from SoEW, is by FAR the best Stage 3 boss theme. Take a listen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTB9OdSi1IM), if you haven't.

I'd like Yuugi's theme more, but wut.
-
I'm gonna have to go with Doll Judgement on this one honestly. None of the others especially stand out to me...
-
Spirit Battle ~ Perdition Crisis
Next would have been Plastic Mind... and then Bet on Death (5 Magic Stones). I could rank them all, but that would take too long (i.e. :effort:).
-
Plain Asia. No competition for me.
-
Plain Asia. No competition for me.
If Plain Asia had even a LITTLE more percussion it would be my favorite; remixes of it (especially dBu's) are always awesome, but the original just sounds a bit thin.
-
I don't know, it's pretty close between Alice's theme and
Unzan'sIchirin's theme for me.
-
Stage 3 bosses, huh? Hmm.
Clearly this goes to A Drunkard's Lemuria 8D Fuck Yeah Afro Man
I'm torn between Plastic Mind (Alice in MS) and Incredible Brofists And The Forgettable Hitbox (Ichirin and Unzan in UFO)
I also automatically hate anyone who says A Flower Studded Sake Dish on Mt Ooe. I know it's not all that bad, but I hate that song a lot.
Also Perdition Crisis sounds good but it's strangely even more forgettable to me than Plain Asia
-
Bet on Death used to be my least favorite song in the series, but it's grown on me recently...it's still amazingly generic and unTouhou-like.
Still, I'm going to have to choose the generic answer and say Doll Judgement. It's quite a beautiful song, and the fact that it's overused and overpublicized thanks to MStPT doesn't change a thing. Honorable mentions go to Perdition Crisis and Candid Friend.
-
Doll Judgement, with A Flower Studded Sake Dish on Mt. Ooe being a somewhat distant second.
Honorable mention to Plastic Mind which is the most impressive in-game. It just doesn't quite stand on its own.
-
It's hard to decide between Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17 and The Traditional Old Man and The Stylish Girl.
I guess I'm gonna have to go with the classic and say Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17 though. Gotta love Hong's theme.
-
The fact that some people actually like Bet On Death (let alone think it's one of the better st.3 themes) completely blows my mind. There's like, one four measure phrase that makes up the whole damn song. And it's a really boring four measure phrase at that.
And of course, Doll Judgment is the best etc. etc. etc.
-
Very close ties between Doll Judgment, Plain Asia, and Candid Friend. I'd have to go with the second one, though.
-
Plain Asia.
Honorable mentions : Candid Friend, Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17.
-
Since I still haven't played most of the games, I basing this mostly on standalone value.
Very close race between Plain Asia and Plastic Mind. The more I repeat though, the more the former pulls away, so I'll give it the slight nod, even though I agree that it's a little plain at times (overall something I feel about a lot of IN music I've listened to so far...).
-
(http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/8772/689239.jpg)
Only clue you're getting.
-
Plain Asia and The Traditional Old Man And The Stylish Girl
-
No mention of Plastic Mind?
I'm disappointed. Really.
-
Maybe an idea for future posts in this thread: Perhaps it would be nicer if we get to answer with our most and least favorite answers?
As for stage 3 boss theme: China's theme all the way!
-
Doll Judgment, Plain Asia, Plastic Mind, The Traditional Old Man and the Stylish Girl.
Pick one, they're all some of my favorite Touhou songs overall.
-
KON BAN WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Doll Judgment.
-
Magic Mirror, MS music room version on Annex86 with optimal sound settings. Alternatively, the CD version. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM-NdImYYjM&feature=related)
Okay, technically it is a stage 15 theme, but it is also the theme for the third boss(es), and that's good enough for me.
If you don't think it should count, then it's Plastic Mind, though every single third boss theme is good.
Bet on Death is good only in context of the game it is in, which easily features the worst soundtrack of the series (as well as the worst gameplay, but you know that already).
-
DA-DA
DA-DA
DA-DA
DA-DA
DA-DA-DAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Ichirin's theme in UFO, Traditional Old Man and the Stylish Western Girl. Holy fuck that song is so amazing.
Plastic Mind came close, though.
On that note, I think Candid Friend is a fucking terrible song in both the originals and every single arrange not called Optical Camouflage by SOUND HOLIC.
-
Hmm... I'd have to go with Shanghai Alice of Meiji 13.
-
The Traditional Old Man and the Stylish Girl followed closely by Candid Friend.
-
The fact that some people actually like Bet On Death (let alone think it's one of the better st.3 themes) completely blows my mind. There's like, one four measure phrase that makes up the whole damn song. And it's a really boring four measure phrase at that.
Granted, the song only gets good at 48 seconds, and is still absurdly repetitive and simple. That said, it's still enjoyable; repetition doesn't automatically equal boring (though it can; see The Tank Girl's Dream).
Also, Baity, you're on for tonight, da?
-
Weirdly enough, the only names which popped into my mind when you mentioned stage 3 were "Bad Apple", "Romantic Children", "Doll-maker of Bucuresti" and "Sky Ruin" rather than any boss theme.
So I'm going to vote for "Candid Friend" because when I think about it, it's the only stage 3 boss theme I listen to outside a playthrough, if only occasionally.
-
Candid Friend is kind of creepy :V
-
Also, Baity, you're on for tonight, da?
"Yes, Sir! I can go for days without sleep!"
o>
-
although PCB is my fav game i will have to go with another one.
i will go with Walking the Streets of a Former Hell
-
My favourite stage 3 boss theme is Alice's.
Except for my favourite stage 3 boss theme. Which also belongs to Alice.
:V
-
Candid friend is easily the worst song in the series. Bet on death is way higher.
-
Plain Asia and Perdition Crisis.
Honorable mention to Candid Friend, which I randomly hum multiple times a day without realizing it :V Doll Judgment's pretty good too, but overall I like stage themes more than boss themes for stage 3 (LLS being the exception)
-
Plastic mind, or Plain Asia
-
My favourite stage 3 boss theme is Alice's.
Except for my favourite stage 3 boss theme. Which also belongs to Alice.
:V
Which one? She has two of both you know :V
-
Candid friend is easily the worst song in the series.
^5 :V
-
Sorry for the delay. Something popped up and I was trying to fix it before as quickly as I could. Obviously, I couldn't fix it completely.
Let's begin.
What is your single favorite (Mid-)Boss Attack?
Now, this can be a Spell Card, a non-spell, or even an attack from one of the PC-98 Touhou games.
Now excuse me while I go back to trying to fix this problem. My answer will be once again, delayed.
Quick Edit: To prevent the questions asked from being repeated, wouldn't it be more convenient to have them all stored in the OP once they're asked?
-
Froggy Braves the Elements.
-
Superhuman "Byakuren Hijiri". It's pretty, creative
and fun.
Honorable mentions : Froggy Braves the Elements, Peerless Wind God, Spring Kyoto Dolls.
-
It's so hard to choose, but I'd have to say Virtue of Wind God if I had to choose just one. Or Gengetu Rape Time. :>
-
Scarlet Meister. :D VoWG loses points due to the shitty bossfight (excluding the opener) that precedes it.
-
Or Gengetu Rape Time. :>
As much as I would love to choose this, I won't because this attack is much more fun to dodge.
(http://i80.servimg.com/u/f80/12/80/32/92/th/untitl55.png) (http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=325&u=12803292)
"Cheeto Lasers"; yeah right. I honestly don't see how the majority of people can't dodge them.
Next would've been "VoPB".
-
Oh yes, that attack IS fun. :3
-
"Cheeto Lasers"; yeah right. I honestly don't see how the majority of people can't dodge them.
I always thought people called them Cheeto lasers because they look like Cheetos. (http://wrrh100fall09.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/cheetos2.jpg) :V
-
Cheetos. (http://wrrh100fall09.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/cheetos2.jpg) :V
Every time I hear the word Cheetos, I keep being reminded of the ball version only. Probably because it's the only type that I have seen through my entire life :V
Not these demented looking stick ones.
-
How the hell am I supposed to just pick one? :c
"Rorschach in Danmaku", "Phoenix Tail", "Charming Siege on All Sides", and "Scarlet Destiny" is probably as far as I can narrow it down.
-
mid-boss eh?, have to go with Lily White's attack\/
-
I'm gonna go with "Counter Clock" for this one.
It can be kind of nerve-wracking sometimes but I love the "clock gear" lasers. It's actually a pretty fun attack to dodge through once you've gotten used to it.
-
Favorite eh? To just dodge I'll have to go with Mountain of Faith (Haven't played Hard mode yet)
-
Right now, Legendary Flying Object ; it's oddly arranged and requires a lot to follow, but the complete difference iin how you tackle it makes it lots of fun.
But there's a LOT of choices...
-
That attack where all the bullets get fired at me. You know which one I mean.
I have no idea.
-
Gonna go with EX-Sanae's 'Miracle Fruit' or Kogasa's 'Hello Forgotten World'.
-
Sanae's Esoterica "Secretly Inherited Art of Danmaku"
-
So many choice :( But I think I'll go with Heaven Spider's Butterfly Capturing Web. Purely because it looks so awesome and I haven't seen anything like it.
-
After timing it out, I'll have to say "Asteroid Belt".
-
Oh this isn't fair at all. There's so many amazing choices D:
-Taboo [Maze of Love]
-Earth Sign [Rage Trilithon High Level]
-Water Sign [Bury in Lake]
-Metal and Water Sign [Mercury Poisoning]*
-Illusion Ghost [Jack the Ludo Bile]
-Dark Trumpet [Ghost Clifford] (probably the only good thing Merlin's ever done)
-Subtle Melody [Repository of Hirokawa -Phantom-]
-Recollection [Border of Wave and Particle]
-[Heaven and Hell Meltdown]
-Response [Youkai Polygraph]
-Rekindled [Embers of Love]
-Danmaku Bounded Field [-Phantasm, Foam, Shadow-] (or whatever the fuck Yukari's LW is called)
-Great Magic [Devil's Recitation]
-Legendary Flying Object
-Spring Sign [Jade of the Horrid River]
-Mystery [Kuzui Clear Water]
And that's just spellcards, there's also Momiji's midboss attack in MoF, fighting Yuki on her own in MS, so many midspells that don't have names...
...gah, I'll go [Bury in Lake]. I don't know D:
*I will say that this is probably the funniest spellcard name ever.
-
Hourai "Fujiyama Volcano"
HMs to Response "Youkai Polygraph", "Nightmare of Heiankyou", and "Divine Virtue of Wind God"
-
Favorite Spell card? Hmmmm, I'll say Esoterica "Nine Syllable Stabs".
"The World", "Resurrection Butterfly","Nightmare of Heiankyou" , and that one Spell Card that Byakuren stole from Shinki, get HM's
-
That attack where all the bullets get fired at me. You know which one I mean.
I have no idea.
This, basically.
EDIT: Actually, I think I know what my favorite is. Resurrection Butterfly. I mean... You think you've beaten Yuyuko, but suddenly, silence. Then... WHOA! You have a sudden survival card that gets its own epic music! You can't get much more awesome than that. Even if it does love to kill me on the last red wave <_<;
-
Quick Edit: To prevent the questions asked from being repeated, wouldn't it be more convenient to have them all stored in the OP once they're asked?
I've got them all; I can put them in the OP if you want. Doing that.
For this one...oh man, oh man...I'm probably going to have to say Virtue of Wind God because it's just TOO DAMN FUN, but Shinki's Devil's Recitation is high (Cheeto Lasers are great until Lunatic, then they murder my face), as are Genetics of the Subconscious (fact that I suck at it notwithstanding), Froggy Braves the Elements (Suwako's most entertaining card), Reimu's Duplex Barrier (fun times), and Mokou's Rings of Death.
-
Yeah put them in the OP as well so it's much easier to locate.
Also, once again, I like whatever I can dodge. I don't have a favourite in terms of dodging :V
-
BoWaP

Issa'nother one!
What is your favorite remixed track?
This one's a bit tricky. Not "What is your single favorite remix?", but which track is it that you consistently find and love remixes of? Which track has the best remixes for some reason?
I'm going with EoSD's Stage 5, The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood. I have yet to find a single bad version of this, and a whole mess of awesome ones (Ezel-Ash, dBu, Dark PHOENiX, IKUTO) are out there.
-
I think I'm gonna go with Septette for the Dead Princess here. I don't think I've ever found a bad remix of it, and it is amazing whether going for beautiful (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmM7_YleeJU) and calming (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfijANBIjG4) or intense (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UDwwOwXWss) and (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gjc5IVCAxn0) emotional (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_VCsEH3bWU).
-
NUCLEAR FUSION (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=2084.msg126301#msg126301)
-
inb4 unowen
I'll say a tie between Grimoire of Alice and Alice in Wonderland. For PC-98 music, they get remixed a hell of a lot and I haven't found a single one I disliked. The ZUN-style imitation of Grimoire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmtbSmcCl70) in particular is amazing.

Probably either Nuclear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgHLMcda0QY) Fusion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8O07-rdiZk) or Border (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq2Z4ZaTkt4) of Life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUp2fYHvBPs).
All their mixes always prove to be epic.
-
Definitely gonna be Phantom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzIRqh4AOJk) Ensemble (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzDw-nLuzNk&feature=related).
It doesn't disappoint. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg-S7APWBJ4&feature=related) Seriously. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JC-R_r1hyo&feature=related)
-
Suwa Foughten Field and Faith is for the Transient People.
In terms of specifics though, Demetori's remix of Mysterious Mountain is beyond amazing.
-
The amount of 'good' remixes far exceed the amount of 'bad' remixes on my part because of how rarely I listen to remixes.
-
The best U.N. Owen Was Her remix evar. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovqBbCmBaNs)
If it weren't for that video I wouldn't even be posting here now.

You know, that was the first remix of U.N. Owen I came across, the second Touhou track I'd heard (the first was the original), and almost the same impetus for me as well.
Also, hooray for Jun.A!
-
Broken Moon. I've heard one bad remix of it ever, and it was sung by what sounds like a pimply faced teenager.
-
I had a bit of trouble with this one until I saw that the question asked "What song do you always find good remixes of" :P.
I'll have to go with The Primal Scene of Japan the Girl Watched. It just lends itself to awesomeness, same with Faith is for the Transient People.
-
New answer: Anything by Golden City Factory.
-
Dark Side of Fate. I don't care much for the original, but damn it has some fine remixes (Sound Holic, C-Clays, Sounds of Liberation).
-
I can't say I listen to enough remixes to be able to pick one out for being consistantly good or anything.
...Mostly because most remixes I find are just that; and I prefer arranges (AKA: I prefer dBu style over O-Life Japan, although both are damn good)
-
Necrofantasia/Necro-Fantasy
-
Can't decide between UN Owen was her, Lunar clock - Luna dial and Necrofantasia :(
-
魔法少女十字軍 ... or what its called? Magical Girl Crusade?
It is beautiful. I seek every remixes of this track.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuCx1Qu69jI
This remix of Fall of Fall from Sound Holic. Absolutely amazing.
-
I don't listen to Touhou remixes. :V
-
Yeah, I don't listen to the remixes a whole lot either. In most cases, the originals are enough. That being said, from what I have heard, Faith is for the Transient People has so far had some of the best remixes yet, this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZuIAsezF5s) one being a personal favorite.
I really need to listen to more when I finally escape university internet. Most notably the PC-98 track remixes.
-

Hey, I have that remix with just the piano! I personally think it sounds a thousand times better without the drumbeat :V

Hard choice between Border of Life, Septette for the Dead Princess, Necrofantasia and Sleeping Terror.
I'll go with Sleeping Terror (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QATidIEujhc)
-
Ah...
...well tbh I don't have a favourite theme to be arranged actually. I just like whatever is just made purely awesome, mostly in terms of metal.
For example, many Native Faith metal arranges I found are pretty bad, but there is one arrange that is godly beyond words (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiQCLXfucI4)
Of course, there is by my favourite arrange ever...UI-70: Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BGpEQrVxCg). It'll blow your fucking mind away!
I got so much more that I should make a top 50 metal arranges personal list to show others the best of the best.

I didn't like it.
Honestly, Demetori is hit-or-miss if you ask me. Some of their stuff, like their Necrofantasia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAiEEOxM6Yo), is godly; others, like that one, are kind of...meh.
-

Same here honestly. Though I do think they were pretty awesome with Septette... Then again, it's not exactly easy to make Septette not awesome to begin with.
Demetori's Septette, "Ascending into Naught" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UDwwOwXWss&fmt=18)
-
Pssh, that's one of my favourite Demetori tracks. :V I can see why people might not like it though, it's much more rhythmic than melodic, if that makes sense.
Maybe you'll like this more: Magnum Opus' Lost Dream. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDvs4VuixNg&fmt=18) Pretty different to the Demetori track I posted but also awesome if not moreso.
-

Demetori's Necrofantasia's actually one of my least favorite arranges from them. Probably because groups like Crow's Claw have already done it better.
However, they did an amazing job with this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLYWMoCvWI4&fmt=18)
And, it'd be a sin to mention Demetori without including this masterpiece. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-m6pkM0S2c&fmt=18)

Wow, you guys talk about Demetori, but don't ever mention this fucking masterpiece of HOLY SHIT SPEED! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nauOMNrZuJ0&fmt=18)
I was going to link to it until I remembered Iron Attack and Crow's Claw both did a better job at remixing it.
-
I was going to link to it until I remembered Iron Attack and Crow's Claw both did a better job at remixing it.
Crow's Claw - Most likely, although definitely not as intense.
IRON ATTACK! - IMO no way (unless you're talking about Rain in Vain, which is pretty good as well)
-
Oh, I forgot to mention Alice Maestra. Every arrange of that track is just beautiful.
Somehow, I managed to completely forget about Dancing Water Spray. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usQPxbnGN5o&fmt=18)
DANCING WATER SPRAY ACTUALLY GETS ARRANGED?
Also I can't be the only one who likes CYTOKINE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3x-zTHGSX8) ):
-
Well, that was a fun one. Anyway:
What is your favorite Stage 1 Theme?
This is a toss-up, but only between a few contenders. Dream Express loses out slightly to Selene's Light, which again is barely topped, in my opinion, by IN's Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes. Nothing beats that one in terms of setting the mood for the game, and it's always awesome to listen to.
-
I'm gonna go with Ghostly Eyes as well... Nothing else really comes close IMO.
-
ermm....SA's stage 1 theme is...The Dark Blowhole because its KICKASS!!
-
Dream Express for being able to be looped endlessly without it ever get tiring.
-
Paradise - Deep Mountain easily.
-
I have great affection for both False Strawberry(Shuusou Gyoku) and Dream Express(MS), though I suppose Dream Express is technically the better of the two. I don't care much for any of the Windows stage 1 themes because I've heard them all hundreds of times more than I'd really care to. :P
-
I really want to say Dream Express because it really deserves it, but Where Spring Arrives simply calls to me too much.
-
MoF's, I forget the name.
-
A God That Loves People ~ Romantic Fall
One of the best openers in Touhou. Not the best because that is hard to judge for me as I didn't play PC-98 games. But from the windows series, MoF's and UFO's openers are really pumping one's spirit up.
-
Hey, I have that remix with just the piano! I personally think it sounds a thousand times better without the drumbeat :V
dowant.jpg
On-topic : At the End of the Spring and Dream Express. They pump me up easily.
-
Romantic Fall
-
Paradise - Deep Mountain.
God I love the intro.
-
Either PCB or IN.
-
Eight-headed Orochi if that counts.
-
Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes
-
UFOOOOO's whatever it's called
edit: though if it counts, HRtP's "Eternal Shrine Maiden" is absolutely uncontested.
-
Ghostly Eyes and/or Romantic Fall.
-
I'll have to go with Dream Express here.
-
Stage 1? Hmm. Lemme take a relisten to all of em @_@
...Holy crap, stage 1 tracks are awesomer than I thought, I just usually don't pay them too much attention.
A Soul As Red As A Ground Cherry holds a place in my heart for making me notice Touhou music (started on EoSD)
Does Blue Seashore count?
What about Super Marisa World 0?
I'll give it to either A Dark Blowhole for modern games, or Hakurei ~ Eastern Wind for PC-98
-
A Soul As Red As A Ground Cherry
Ghostly Eyes
I don't like Dream Express too much because the stage is FUCKING LONG AND BORING !
-
For all the ones that I missed.
What is your favorite Stage 3 Boss theme?
Bet on Death, or Doll Judgement.
What is your single favorite (Mid-)Boss Attack?
Cheeto Lasers, Alice ver.
Yes, I went THERE
What is your favorite remixed track?
Gotta go with Grave of Being. +points to Grimoire of Alice and Lost Dream.
What is your favorite Stage 1 Theme?
Dream Express, Selene's light and Romantic Fall.
-
dowant.jpg
On-topic : At the End of the Spring and Dream Express. They pump me up easily.
I can send it to you when I get home next week because lolcollegeinternet :V
And yes, End of Spring and Dream Express are fantastic.
-
Definitely going to be A Soul As Red As A Ground Cherry.
-
At the End of Spring, though Romantic Fall and Ghostly Eyes are also pretty notable.
...Actually, come to think of it, most of the stage 1 themes are pretty good. Leave it to ZUN to start things off strong to pull you in.
-
At the End of Spring. It's really peaceful, and although there's some ominous sounds in it, it rapidly changes to an optimistic note, then back to just some really light tones.
-
Paradise ~ Deep Mountain
-
Paradise ~ Deep Mountain.
I love how it sounds in MIDI.
Oh and honorable mention to Eternal Shrine Maiden.
-
Today's question:
Who is your favorite Extra Boss?
All things are fair game here - battle, theme, personality, etc. I have to by an exceedingly slim margin have Koishi lose out to Mokou, because the Phoenix is pure awesome in all respects.
-
Mugetu. No need to explain myself here.
It should be pretty obvious who would be my second choice.
-
You know what sucks? When your two favorite characters in the series are both extra bosses. For the purposes of this question I'll give the edge to Gengetu because I don't like Yukari's fight that much.
Also Baity I don't know who your second choice is actually. :V
-
Hm... Not sure. But... I guess... Ran? ...Not even sure why xD
-
But I like all of them (minus Flan) :c
In-game it'd be Ran, Alice and Mokou, out-of-game would be Alice, Koishi and Ran.
Overall, I think I'd have to go with Alice.
-
EX Reimu.
She's a Touhou character so it like totally counts.
-
Also Baity I don't know who your second choice is actually. :V
You can't troll someone by doing something right
-
But I really DON'T know. Evil Eye Sigma? ???
-
Rika?
...or maybe Nue...
-
EX Reimu.
She's a Touhou character so it like totally counts.
Phantasm Reimu in CtC doesn't count. :V
-
Phantasm Reimu in CtC doesn't count. :V
Seihou...
-
But I really DON'T know. Evil Eye Sigma? ???
You're "close". Evil Eye Sigma is my third favorite.
-
Mokou. I had a newfound love for her in this doujin I read
-
Phantasm Reimu in CtC doesn't count. :V
Watch and be enlightened. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srd4oQQ9xsk)
-
Seihou...
Right, only played Banshiryuu so that hadn't occured to me.
-
You're "close". Evil Eye Sigma is my third favorite.
Rika?
Also, EX Reimu's nothing special other than her theme. Personally even though I know it's illogical (since it'd require her to not be a playable character), I wish ZUN would make an EX Reimu for the Windows series.
-
Rika?
Now you're just talking about the pilot of Evil Eye Sigma. Who doesn't even have her own danmaku.
-
Alice and Ran. I think Ran has the edge but it's hard to choose. PCB extra's dialogues are great, probably the best in the series, and I have no idea what's going on on MS' besides Alice wanting REVEEEEENGE, so that tips it in Ran's favor.... for now.
I wish ZUN would make an EX Reimu for the Windows series.
Weren't Reimu and Marisa going to be StB's "EX2" stage as an add-on, only to get scrapped because of time restraints?
-
Now you're just talking about the pilot of Evil Eye Sigma. Who doesn't even have her own danmaku.
And yet is awesome. I mean, who cares about the tank? And Rika has little shiku shiku bits in her conversation, that's got to count for something.
-
Gengetsu
Fixed for my own use.
Also, my liking towards Mokou have risen exponentially ever since I engage in daily combat with her recently. That, and Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke is just too good.
-
Ahhhhh! Gengetsu simply doesn't look right to me! D: Mugetsu, maybe, but Gengetsu just looks wrong. Hence why I always spell it (and pronounce it for that matter) Gengetu.
-

Now shut up.
-
Look, you can't say "Gengetsu Rape Time", it's just not right.
-
The wiki is all sorts of wrong most of the time though.
Anyway, enjoy. 1 run at MS Extra.
(http://i80.servimg.com/u/f80/12/80/32/92/th/untitl56.png) (http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=330&u=12803292)
Cut: Yeah, that too.
-
Seriously, official romanization (also Elliy is the only pronounciation, and I will only respond to calling her Tiyuri, yes I know the flaw in my reasoning here).
Besides, who's her BIGGEST FAN??? >:D
-
I'll go with Koishi. Love her backstory and the premise behind her personality.
She's also the last Windows Touhou extra boss that I've yet to meet, so bonus points for that :V
-
Fine! I'll be different than you people. :/
Besides, who's her BIGGEST FAN??? >:D
Don't make me pull off Ijiyatsu!DonutXGengetsu on you.
-
It's Gengetsu under normal romanization.
Also, I would have to say Mokou.
-
It's Gengetsu under normal romanization.
That's normal romanization. We're talking RomaniZUNation.
Don't make me pull off Ijiyatsu!DonutXGengetsu on you.
You were never going to draw it anyway. ;_;
-
You were never going to draw it anyway. ;_;
OH I WILL
I WILL
SOMEDAY
Right after I'm finished with Baity and other crap. >_>
-
Right after I'm finished with Baity and other crap. >_>
Take your time on that.
-
Suwako, Because she's Awesome.
-
(http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/4470/028234.jpg)
Her.
-
Wow, everyone really hates Flandre here eh?
Of course I'm gonna say Flandre Scarlet because she's the character that introduced me to Touhou and she's the only Extra boss I've legitly beaten.
Woo!
-
Donut
Ahahahah
Also favourite EX boss? Slaves
I don't really like them, but I feel Yukari is the most mature.
-
I've never even played an Extra stage... But I'll say Mokou because of her music =)
-
Fujiwara no Mokou, for cool spellcards
and angry hatesex with Kaguya
Nue gets an honorable mention for awesome music.
-
Flandre's boss battle is my favorite in the series, so I'm voting for her. =w=b
Koishi's a close second, though. Hartmann's Youkai Girl is one of ZUN's best pieces, and the whole battle is just incredibly fun.
-
Reach For the Moon, Imm...
err, I mean Mokou
-
Hartmann's Youkai Girl <3
Honorable mention : Undefined Fantastic Flying Girl <3
-
Well...my guess should be obvious <3
-
Probably Nue.
I like the fact that she isn't loaded with streaming nonspells and has no bullshit attacks like most EX bosses have. The most fun EX boss out there IMO.
Also cool BGM etc. :V
-
Nue is first for awesome fun spellcards and noncards, excellent theme and nuetongue.jpg. *points at avatar*
Flandre is second for the awesome gameplay and that it was my first extra clear, extra no focus, extra perfect, etc etc.
Gugnirtetsu gets an honourable mention for the alternate spellings. :V
-
Nue's probably the most fun extra boss.
Mima-Cirno was awesome too
But I like Suwako the most.
-
Wait.
Fuck.
I keep forgetting Nue is an Extra boss.
Changing previous answer to: NueNueNue etc.
-
Flandre Scarlet. no competition.
2nd place is shared between Mokou and Nue.
Also koishi sucks ass and she isn't even in my list, *equips flame resistant cloak*
-
Meh, more Koishi for me then <3
-
Mokou.
She's a lot of fun no matter how many times you fight her.
The exploding and resurrecting after every spellcard is a nice touch, and immortal smoke is <3
-
Mokou first for music and general character, Nue a close second for pretty much the same reasons.
-
Eh... I changed my mind actually. I just remembered, Mokou = Phoenix = Awesome :V ...How the heck did I forget that part earlier x:
-
Wow, everyone really hates Flandre here eh?
Of course I'm gonna say Flandre Scarlet because she's the character that introduced me to Touhou and she's the only Extra boss I've legitly beaten.
Woo!
/me mails you a "get well soon" card
-
I... have plenty. EX-Suika, Gengetu, EX-Alice and Mokou.
-
Ran~
-
And more!
What is your favorite Extra Stage Theme?
This is one of the hardest; Extra Stages as a rule have really damn good music (PCB, UFO and IN are the only ones I don't care for, and Extend Ash is growing on me anyway).
That said, I still with no hesitation whatsoever award this to The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls. Always has been and likely always will be my favorite. Alice in Wonderland is second.
-

Charming Domination and/or Tommorow will be Hare, Yesterday was Ke.
-
Gotta go with Imortal Smoke~
Edit:Whoops read the question wrong again!
IN's extra stage...
-
Heian Alien.
-
What is your favorite Extra Stage Theme?
Damnit people.
-
Hm... I'd say... Probably Alice in Wonderland. With MoF's and IN's as honorable mentions.
-
MoF's, Tomorrow will be Special, Yesterday was Not or whichever one of the billion translations you prefer. It's gorgeous~
-
Charming Domination and Extra Love.
-
UFO Romance in the Night Sky, followed by Extra Love.
-
Alice in Wonderland.
Like, this is supposed to be hard?
-
For theme it'll be Alice in Wonderland.
...Kinda the only good one, IMO.
-
Tomorrow will be Special, Yesterday was Not.
Honorable mentions : Last Remote, Centennial Festival for Flying Magical Lolis Girls, UFO Romance in the Night Sky.
-
Flower ponders the Leaf, Leaf ponders the Flower
Probably... Charming Domination ~ Who Done It? or UFO in the Night Sky
-
Romance in the Night Sky definitely. It's just so freaking catchy and whimsical. I really love it.
Centennial Festival for Magical Girls is a close second.
-
Alice in Wonderland, UFO Romance in the Night Sky. Faaaaaar above the rest.
-
Flower ponders the Leaf, Leaf ponders the Flower
I FORGOT THIS ONE.
-
MoF
-
Centennial Festival for Magical Girls
-
Alice in Wonderland
-
The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls
-
UFO Romance in the Night Sky is my favourite theme from Touhou actually. It's so unique.
Last Remote comes second.
-
The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls
then
Alice in Wonderland
then
UFO Romance in the night Sky
them
Extended Ash
then...*BAM*
-
LAST FUCKING REMOTE
Honorable mentions to Alice in Wonderland and Extend Ash.
-
Alice in Wonderland.
Like, this is supposed to be hard?
That :V
Honorable mention to Tomorrow Will Be Special and UFO Romance. UFO's Extra is my most hated stage in the series but damn if it doesn't have great music.
-
Last Remote.
Alice in Wonderland came real fucking close though.
-
I'm sad at all the last remotes.
I'd have to say extend ash ~ hourai victim.
-
Last Remote makes me throw babies.
other than that, dunno, I'm not a big fan of the stage themes at all :V
-
Centennial Festival for Magical Girls.
Last Remote gets a close second, for how good it sounds in-game.
-
Alice in Wonderland. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCoIBjRBn8k) Oh god yes.
-
Alice in Wonderland
Tomorrow will be Special; Yesterday was Not
UFO Romance in the Night Sky
Charming Domination
;_;
I can't choose
-
Silk Road Alice
-
I was going to talk about UFO Romance of the Night Sky and Last Remote, but then:
Alice in Wonderland.
Like, this is supposed to be hard?
The other two get honorable mentions.
-
People fairly familiar with PC-98 has more choices for their best.
*listens to PC-98 Extra Stage Themes, anyway*
... Ohmiga, Alice in Wonderland! Simple, yet elegantly melodic, and well it has Alice in it.
Next on the rank, before Alice's theme instantly came 1st, Tomorrow will be Special; Yesterday was not.
Nnnn, then comes The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls.
-
The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls, HM to Alice in Wonderland.
-
Forums are back, yay~
What is your favorite Reimu Boss Theme?
Ahhh, the main character of the Touhou Project. So many themes, and I love...pretty much all of them. This goes by the merest of margins to IN's Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQDVmod7hDE), with PoFV's Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60Zp2aXfVhU) taking second.
Honorable mentions and links for those not familiar with them (that we may have objective voting):
Dichromatic Butterfly ~ Ancients (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iErZO2pS9k) (Reimu's Extra Theme from Shuuso Gyoku)
Mystic Oriental Love Consultation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wM0a6z7Uxk) (Theme from PoDD)
Maiden's Capriccio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooGHHpy9hQc), the original from LLS
aaaand why not: G Free ~ Final (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osDEp_09ju0) and Ultimate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-osvQJwRGk) Dream, from Concealed the Conclusion.
...and Donut will probably complain if I don't put this here, so I'll throw on The Eternal Shrine Maiden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVfbybSFC9M), one of the stage themes from tHRtP. Not actually a Reimu theme, but considering the title, it might as well be.
-
I think you essentially nailed them all in the one post. Go figure :V
Anyway, my favorite would be the original Maiden's Capriccio, easily. On the other side of things (i.e. my least favorite) would be Colorful Path. That's all you really need to know.
-
Time for me to point another missed option: Now would be a good time for IaMP and SWR and UNL tracks to show up and say hi, 'cause Reimu's got mixes there. FANTASY HEAVEN FINISH (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE6yNmTQT7I), the M.O.L.C. remixes, etc.. Alternatively, I believe you fight Reimu on more than one occurance to The Color Of The Earth Is Yellow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EV-H1zJbKk&feature=related)...
Anyway...
Fate of Sixty Years is no. 1 by a mile, you do fight Reimu as Siki's final boss to it!
Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Duel gets the cake for me on this one.
Though I'll agree with Baity in that Colorful Path is my least favourite... I don't like most of PoFV's soundtrack that much, honestly, barring a sparse couple.
-
Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle takes first for me easily. Blame Fightest's analysis. :D
G Free ~ Final Dream takes seconds because it's just epic amounts of awesome.
-
You could at least have linked the original version of Eternal Shrine Maiden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzOUqOCRXOs). :V
Unfortunately I don't see how it qualifies as a Reimu boss theme (except maybe from G Free ~ Final Dream being partially a remix of it), therefore my pick is Mystic Oriental Love Consultation.
-
I would say G-Free, but it's not a canon Reimu theme.
So instead I choose Maiden's Cappricio
-
For me, it's a three-way tie between Maiden's Capriccio(IN), Spring Lane~Colorful Path and Mystic Oriental Love Consultation(PoDD).
-
Maiden's Capriccio from IaMP is the best, period. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP9xTQCq9rg)
-
Only played IN and PoFV so my vote goes to IN. I don't really like both of them tough...
-
I've only heard two of them... So I'll go with Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle :D
-
Dichromatic Butterfly. As if I even needed to say it.
Also, I'm pretty sure I said this before, but LLS Maiden's Cappricio >> Dream Battle. In fact, I never really understood the intense love for Dream Battle. I thought it was a pretty lackluster theme overall until I heard the original.
-
Probably have to be DIEchromatic Butterfly ~ Ancients
-
Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle, with an honourable mention for G Free.
-
Maiden's Capriccio from IaMP is the best, period. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP9xTQCq9rg)
-
Whether or not I consider it a Reimu theme, it's not a boss theme, so ignoring ESM...
Dream Battle, pretty easily.
-
Probably have to be DIEchromatic Butterfly ~ Ancients
-
Ah, available options and links are very much appreciated. Thanks!
My 1st definitely goes to The Eternal Shrine Maiden!! >w< The melody just keeps it flowing, and perhaps the thought of it being in the first ever Touhou semi-shmup game and one being the most melodic from it.
Also loves remixes of it so it kinda adds up.
Honorable Mentions:
Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle (1st if tESM dissolved for not being a Boss theme, but I kinda couldn't let myself to accept that >3<)
G-Free - Final Dream, because it had part of tESM x3. I think I've first heard of it from an official remix, but that's not Dolls in Pseudo Paradise's ESM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBQR6IcWNk), as far as I remember.
Nevertheless, I like all of Reimu's theme.
-
Am I seriously the only person who like Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path?
That song is the shit, seriously I play Reimu in PoFV all the time just to hear it :V
-
-Maiden's Capriccio (LLS)
-G Free ~ Final/Ultimate Dream (CtC)
-Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path
In that order.
IaMP's Maiden's Capriccio falls inbetween those somewhere as well.
-
aaaand why not: G Free ~ Final (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osDEp_09ju0) and Ultimate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-osvQJwRGk) Dream, from Concealed the Conclusion.
You forgot Dream Express ~ Red/White (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3QfPYeTZ1Y), from CtC's Phantasm Stage
-
Alice in Wonderland
UFO Romance
Donut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QW8wcwcXr0

Spring Lane ~ Colorful Path.
I used to hate it, but now I love it.
Funny how that works...

You're a day late :V
-
Maiden's Capriccio from IaMP is the best, period. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP9xTQCq9rg)
-
G Free~Ultimate Dream.
No contest.
Period.
-
ITT people consider fangames.
-
ITT people consider fangames.
Hey, it was put up as a choice, so I'm gonna go for the song I like most, canon or not~
-
Aw shit, I missed that post. That's what I get for skimming. Well, the Donut thing still stands.
Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly ~ Ancients
-
MAIDEN'S CAPRICCIO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooGHHpy9hQc) ~ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-pFVA3Qk40&feature=related) DREAM BATTLE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er0WQfS0d1c&feature=related) NO QUESTION.

Ancients.
-
It's only fair...
What is your favorite Marisa Boss Theme?
The other main character, and with nearly as impressive a catalog! This one, though, is very easy, as Marisa doesn't have the awesome that Reimu does; hands down, The Wtiches' Ball ~ Magus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cRk6h0_b0Y), Marisa's Extra theme from Shuuso Gyoku, is the best.
But to list them:
Love Colored Magic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubz8FBmfSA0&feature=related), from SoEW
Dim. Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shKs5FIaYac&feature=related), from PoDD
Vessel of Stars ~ Casket of Star (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ8mTK0yl0A&feature=related), from LLS
Dancing Witches (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1QPo6AEHzc), from IaMP (bleh)
Love Colored Master Spark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2JRwy6gsKs&feature=related), from IN
Dark Oriental Flight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nIk-dcM4CM&feature=related), from PoFV
...and if there are any more that I'm missing, possibly from the fighting games. Still, this is the easiest choice evar for me.
-
The Witches' Ball and Casket of Star are the only two worth mentioning.
-
Personally, I think:
Love Colored Magic > All; by a large margin.
Not too sure if you count the two extra songs obtained in the Grimoire of Marisa, heh
.
-
Casket of Star FTW.
Also Love Colored Magic>Love Colored Master Spark
-
Not too sure if you count the two extra songs obtained in the Grimoire of Marisa, heh
.
Illusionary Sputnik Night is a remix of Shuusou Gyoku's stage 4 theme, so I'm not sure how related it is to her. :V
Speaking of which, Magus completely rapes everything on that list.
-
The Witches' Ball and Casket of Star are the only two worth mentioning.
Magus completely rapes everything on that list.
-
Wow, 5 already and not a one for LCMS? Maybe there's hope for us after all...
-
Dark Oriental Flight
-
Illusionary Sputnik Night is a remix of Shuusou Gyoku's stage 4 theme, so I'm not sure how related it is to her. :V
Simple. Marisa stole it :V
As a very quick off-topic rant, I keep dying to invisible bullets on UFO Stage 1.
-
Just for list completing sakes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChyDsb-oTJE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChyDsb-oTJE) (VoS~CoS SWR mix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aq1UrH92Zo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aq1UrH92Zo) (Love Colored Magic IAMP mix) -persoanlly I feel her weakest.
Overall, I feel Marisa's themes are weak because her background music tends to be TOO DAMN LOUD!!!!
Honorable mention to Dancing Witches (yes I like it, sue me) and Magus, but...
I have my top song is Dimensional Dream, even though it doesn't really fit her.
-
Casket of Star. DEFINITELY no contest whatsoever, it's one of my favorite songs in the series, along with Septette and Cosmic Mind <3
-
Wow, 5 already and not a one for LCMS? Maybe there's hope for us after all...
Nah.
I'm one for LCMS, but it seems that it has somewhat lost its luster nowadays...
Aside from that, Dimensional Dream pretty much comes out on top followed right by Dance of Witches from IaMP.
-
LCMS is one of my favorite Touhou songs period, so yeah.
-
Magus completely rapes everything on that list.
-
Hmm... I've only heard Love Colored Master Spark enough to make any real judgments on Marisa's theme...
I'll go with none then. :V

Love-Colored Mystical Chain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFrKVl11qqE) is the best
Also, I'm gonna be the hated person who says Love-Colored Master Spark. I really do love it. It just seems so full of energy and fitting to her.
Casket of Star (LLS Ver) is damn fun too though
-
Casket of Stars, LLS and SWR version, both rocks
Honorable mention to Dark Oriental Flight (speed up version is awsum)
-
o_o Aww, I've heard only Love Colored Master Spark and Dark Oriental Flight, in short Windows Touhou Marisa theme ones. Must take a good listening to this one, because we're talking Marisa here >x3
For now:
Love Colored Master Spark - IN
>The eleki guitar background support, trumpet melody (the sound of Master Spark), pipe organ (perhaps her Stardust Reverie), and fast pace sounds so much like Marisa, IMO. (special linky for Fightest's Analyze of LCMS (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=2084.msg85914#msg85914) <3)
Dark Oriental Flight
... felt awkward editing an old-enough post >_<
-
Love colored master spark <3
-
Geeze. This one was a freak ton harder to decide on than Reimu's themes.
1st place goes to Dimensional Dream because it's kinda rare for Marisa to get a nice, serious sounding piece and this one makes her sounds just badass.
2nd place goes to Love-coloured Master Spark because it's the Marisa we all know and love. Goofy, fun-loving, and in your face.
-
Casket of Star if you include the SWR version for <3 guitar.
Otherwise, The Witches' Ball ~ Magus
-
Voting for anything besides Witches' Ball makes you a Communist :V
-
For Reimu: Maiden's Capriccio.
For Marisa: The Witches' Ball obviously. :V
-
The Witch's Ball ~ Magus
Vessel of Stars ~ Casket of Star
-
When I first played my first touhou game (Imperishable Night), it was Marisa's Love-Colored Master Spark theme that really stuck with me.
It made the fact she was killing me so horribly much more bearable. Therefore I go with it.
I know its technically a remix of love-colored magic from SoEW, but I personally find that one highly 'meh'. Honorable mention goes to Casket of Star (the SWR mix is my second favorite of her themes).
-
Let's be OFF THE WALL
Dim.Dream. By far, the one I like the most.
-
Voting for anything besides Witches' Ball makes you a Communist :V
If I voted for both Witches' Ball and Casket of Star, does that make me half a Communist? :V
-
This forum, she is full of comrades, da?
Comrade Baity, you are posting tonight, or the KGB will be coming to say hello.
-
Whoops, missed this:
Voting for anything besides Witches' Ball makes you a Communist :V
But I'm orange, not red. =V
*has the Master Spark and Caskets of Stars strike down during the Witch's Ball*
-
Love-Colo(u)red Master Spark or Witches' Ball.
-
I really like every one of Marisa's theme but there's this little something about Love-Coloured Master Spark (probably because it's the first one I heard) and Dim. Dream (it sounds just too good)
-
Reimu: Dicromatic Butterfly - Ancients (Shuuso Gyoku Extra) and G-Free Final and Ulimate Dream (CtC)
Marisa: The Witches' Ball - Magus (Shuuso Gyoku Extra), if you don't pick this, you are a nazi, the end.
Also, I missed the Extra Stage one so... "Tomorrow will be special, yesterday was not", "Alice in Wonderland", and last but not least "Leaf ponders the Flower, Flower ponders the Leaf." Honestly, you guys suck if you didn't pick those.
-
So I was converted, after hearing all Marisa themes...
1st goes to The Witches' Ball - IaMP!! >w< Ohmiga... Gothic witch theme... the melody is... >////< uhm, is this even Marisa?... and the violin boils up Marisa's witch craft, or whatever she's experimenti... *differently colored Earth Light Rays appear and shoot from the ground* Huaaaa!!
2nd, Love Colored Master Spark - IN
3rd, Vessel of Stars ~ Casket of Star - LLS
-
I'm feeling pretty exhausted. Think I'll sleep at 8pm today... Anyway... this had to be asked at one point or another, and since I'm feeling pretty uncreative today...
What is your favorite Stage 4 Boss "gimmick"?
Note: The word "gimmick" is being used in the marketing context, for the lack of a better word to use
If you're confused about what I'm asking for, then simply select from the list that I've conveniently compiled:
- LLS Reimu / Marisa
- MS Yuki / Mai
- EoSD Patchouli
- PCB Prismriver Sisters
- IN Reimu / Marisa
- MoF Aya's Survival SC
- SA Satori
- UFO Murasa's Survival SC
I'm going to go with LLS' one just because I can both battles are a lot more fun. I would've chosen IN, but the fact that you can "focus" to dodge Reimu's balls, and seeing that Marisa's familiars (orbs) aren't even a threat to you (like in PC-98) meant that most of the "fun" (note: not difficulty) was taken off. Not to mention some of the most eye-raping patterns are present here.
Satori gets a special dishonorable mention for Satori!Nitori having one of the most difficult Spell Cards ever conceived :V
-
Hm... Probably Yuki and Mai.
-
Satori gets a special dishonorable mention for Satori!Nitori having one of the most difficult Spell Cards ever conceived :V
Screw you, Baity. Satorin all the way. Prismrivers get honourable mentions.
-
Satori without a doubt. This is coming from someone who HATES her fight.
-
Oh, damn. Patchouli's ridiculously fun as long as you're not using MarisaA (unfortunately, MarisaA is my main shottype in EoSD!), but Satori has such a ridiculous variety of spellcards...
...ehhh, I'll go with Patchouli for now. I don't even like Patchouli but damn her battle is fun :V
-
The favourite battles are Yuki/Mai (plus solo Yuki) and Patchouli, but as for best gimmick... you can't top Satori's recollections. Though a 2-vs-1 like Yuki/Mai is something that I'd like to see again. (the Prismrivers' "3-vs-1" doesn't count since it never really feels like a 3-vs-1.)
-
Satori's copy ability is awesome. I'd love to see something like that again.
-

THANK YOU. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Prismrivers feel like 3 on 1. Yuki and Mai was a really brilliant boss fight because it really did feel like two seperate characters working in tandem instead of three spawn points for bullets.
-

Only thing I don't like about Yuki and Mai is that I can't tell how picky the game is in regards to which one you attack more. >.> The fact I use Yuka probably doesn't help.
-
(http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7773/12058.gif)
is the only correct answer.
-
What about murasa's anchors? If you're gonna mention marisa's familiars you should mention those aswell...
But I think I'll go with the prismrivers
-
Satori's copy ability is awesome. I'd love to see something like that again.
-
SATORI.
-
Patchy
-
Gonna have to say either Satori just because I love her to pieces, or Yuki/Mai for being one of many of my favorite parts of MS.
-
THANK YOU. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Prismrivers feel like 3 on 1. Yuki and Mai was a really brilliant boss fight because it really did feel like two seperate characters working in tandem instead of three spawn points for bullets.
Thus I say Yuki and Mai. Also, I'm still kind of ticked about Murasa. I was predicting Yuki and Mai again - whichever character you play has to fight both of the others. I think that would have been amazing...and instead, we got a boss with no variation at all, only the third since freakin' Aya and SoEW (and that really doesn't count).
-
Patchy
-
SoEW Marisa deserves to at least be an option for starting the whole familiars thing via magic stones as shields/weapons.
But, umm... I'mma go with the Marisa / Reimu complete boss change from IN. Although LLS is damn close, but I like the more complex nature of it, -and- the fact the boss battle breaks up halfway through with a small stage segment (But still not feeling at all like a 'midboss')
Satori was great though
Prismrivers can go die owait they're already dead lol
-
Patch and Aya if only because of the boss music, since the gimmicks don't appeal to me much.
Though I will admit I do enjoy dodging through Illusionary Dominance, I love how fierce it is~
-
Though I will admit I do enjoy dodging through Illusionary Dominance, I love how fierce it is~
Play Peerless BS God.
-
Play Peerless BS God.
Requires bombing more often, but it's still fun.
-
Satori all the way.
-
Three minutes early!
What is your favorite Extra Stage (stage portion only)?
I'm going to go with EoSD's. It feels the most...legitimate of them all. No tricks, just crazy dodging and a few spell cards which don't have to be safe-spotted to be fun. HM to MS's, for the crazy card part (even if I die to that a LOT).
-
Eh...for me it would be between IN or PCB. SA for music though, but we already went through that.
-
I don't like the stage portions though :c
SA I suppose, because it's short. :V
Honorable mention to MoF for being simple with some fun patterns.
-
I hate every stage portion but if I had to pick one it would be MS's. Lesser of the evils, really.
-
Shuusou Gyoku
EoSD's is the only one that doesn't suck ass.
-
I'm with 'nako here, I hate all the stage portions. But I pick MS, just 'cause Jack of
Spades Clubs Whatever is kind of easy, and it has awesome music.
-
I'm gonna go with PCB's. Don't ask me why, I'm not even sure why, I just think I like it the most O_O;
-
I'd have to say IN because of what i call and annilation fairy at the end, cause it always kills me :P
-
IN because I hate the stage portions of Extra, and this is one is really easy.
DHM to UFO because Lightly Falling Large Raindrops is bullshit.
-
MoF. It's the only Extra stage portion I actually find enjoyable.
EoSD's is annoying as hell and the pellets at the end have led me to destroy worlds before. :V
PCB's is too long and pretty much just the same thing over and over. Chen and Ran are the most irritating midbosses in the series.
IN has those annoying fairies right after Keine and that stupid fucking ragefairy at the end of the stage. Keine's pretty dull, as well.
SA's is shorter than the others and actually probably the easiest, oddly enough, but Last Remote and Sanae's irritating cards kill it for me.
UFO's Extra is my most hated thing in the entire series and Kogasa can go get impaled on her umbrella :V
Contrast to those, MoF's is fairly enjoyable and the BGM is great for setting a calming pace at which to play. Plus whenever I play that stage it's basically always a scorerun, so it's always fun to perfect (in a sense) the stage.
-
I'd say MS because random dodging is fun. I also find LLS extra's stage portion a hoot though.
-
I'd have to say MS's Extra Stage, because it's not a total pain in the ass, and the music is fantastic. Most Extra stage themes are pretty boring, and make the whole ordeal not very fun at all when all I want to do is fight the Extra boss. :-\
-
UFO's by a long shot.
Nue is booooooring though.
-
They're all pretty bad. I'll go with IN's because it's basically the only one I can remember right now.
-
EoSD. Closest Extra I've come to clearing. Plus it feels so... uh... EoSD like :V
-
umm... damn.
I dunno. PCB for lolbullettraps, or UFO for Surprise!Kogasarape 8D
I... never paid much attention to the stages/midbosses as they never feel too spectacular.
-
UFO, because every time I see all those balls I think 'How on earth am I gonna get passed that'. And then I dodge it without any problems, it makes me feel good. And in EoSD/IN/PCB you can just spawnkill the fairies a lot of the times and prevent bullets from even spawning.
-
EoSD. I still find this section stage the easiest to perfect, which is sort of weird I guess because objectively it's one of the more difficult ones. :V
Nue is booooooring though.
BLASPHEMY HERESY TREASON
-
Hmm, maybe IN's because it's easy, and that Death Fairy is the easiest with the Border Team, because of the Safe Spot. :V
If I could say the Best Extra Stage Overall, it would be MoF's, because Suwako's spellcards are something where you have to Play instead of Dodge.
-
IN because it's the easiest
-
Three minutes early!

SA and/or MoF, because they're the easiest. (IN is hardest.)
-
I gots 2 questions to answer since I've been gone all weekend.
Favorite Stage 4 gimmick: Prismriver Sisters obviously. :D
Favorite Extra Stage (stage portion): EoSD because it's the only one I've cleared. Woo!
-
MS
SoEW. SoEW. I like the EXTREME difficulty of it for some reason.
-
IN or MoF because they're easy. I play EX for its bosses. The stage portions are usually very meh and i can't stand having to restart them because i mess them up. EoSD is very annoying at that because its very dull, the pace is horrendous and if i make a mistake, i gotta do it all again.
SA isn't bad either. A year ago+some time when the game was all new and stuff, i was clipping those bullet rings constantly. Which is the reason i didn't clear it before a few months ago.
If i am to pick one of those that involves some tricky moments i'd say PCB Phantasm. Very fast-paced, epic music and some fast moving stuff.
To put it simply, i like those EX stages that are easy to get through. Not because i don't like a solid challenge but because i think the challenge should be in the EX boss. And it usually is. I just want to get there and get there fast so my favorite ex stages would be the easy ones.
-
Mine would have to be MoF's.
-
SoEW. SoEW. I like the EXTREME difficulty of it for some reason.

Fine, I won't cover you up on Friday / Saturday then.
...touche, good sir.
-
A fun one today:
Which game has your favorite conversations?
Oh, Touhou dialogue, why do you so rarely make any sense? That said, this goes to IN. Mostly for Yuyuko. HM goes to SWR.
-
I'm gonna go with IN as well, for the Magic and Netherworld teams.
-
Question, endings included?
Of course, spoilers / omissions will be added as appropriate :V
-
UFO's, BOO!
-
Question, endings included?
Of course, spoilers / omissions will be added as appropriate :V
Sure, endings too. Of course, that still makes me say IN, just for Yuyuko trying to kill Eirin
.
-
Go Where Yuyuko says (FinalA)
Go Where Yuyuko says (FinalB)
-
Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. Of course in the 59 times I played lunatic I only read it about 5 times, but it was top quality dialogue for Touhou.
-
Go Where Yuyuko says (FinalA)
Go Where Yuyuko says (FinalB)
Go beat up Eirin! (FinalA)
Blow up everything in sight! (Final B)
Not sure if that was the exact wording on FinalA, but... :V
-
I can't really think of a favorite conversation. There are some pointless ones, and some that just downright cracked me up. I think IN has the majority of them, though, so IN.
-
Also: "My god, jelly donuts are so scary."
-
Go beat up Eirin! (FinalA)
Blow up everything in sight! (Final B)
Not sure if that was the exact wording on FinalA, but... :V
It's GO KICK EIRIN'S ASS!!
...Also,Go Where Yuyuko says (FinalA)
Go Where Yuyuko says (FinalB)
quote]
-
I... Don't... Remember haha. I don't think I've ever read dialogue because I've been so focused on beating the damn game.
The only one that I have some semblance of is EoSD, so I'll go with that.
-
...
...I don't remember any of it. :|
-
Also: "My god, jelly donuts are so scary."
:D
One of my favorites for sure is Tenshi's dialogue in Youmu's scenario:
Tenshi
The weather is the essence of the Heaven of Non-perception.
Sorry to keep you waiting.
Youmu
Pardon?
Tenshi
What's wrong?
Looking for the criminal when she's right before your eyes?
Youmu
Eh? Ehhh!?
Tenshi
Did everything unravel too quickly for you to react?
Youmu
D8
Tenshi
"Are you the one slaying all the ghosts?"
Youmu
Uhhh, is it you who's been slaying all the ghosts?
Tenshi
Yes, it's me.
-
I'd go with IN as well, mainly for the great interplay between the team members. SA deserves an honourable mention though.
-
MS probably has the best dialogue for me. The Extra endings are the best :V
Poor Alice though
.
-
MS probably has the best dialogue for me. The Extra endings are the best :V
If only I could read them...(but I'm working on it!)
-
SA IMO went a bit overboard for dialogue. A more in-depth story is nice and all, but it didn't take into consideration you'd theoretically be reading them many times over. All the games up to Mountain of Faith had the right idea: Have short, memorable dialogue that didn't screw around a whole lot and kept at a brisk pace. I have to credit SA stage 4's dialogue for somehow even after a long exchange still being able to synch up with the music in a way if you read it normally.
And on a more valid side, Reimu A's dialogue sucked. >_> Reimu and Yukari are both characters in my top 5, but neither really seemed to be their normal quirky selves in SA.
MS probably has the best dialogue for me. The Extra endings are the best :V
Poor Alice though
.
That's right, you're a heathen and can read them. :( I just have to look at the purty pictures while I wait patiently lol
for the English patches.
-
Certainly the fighting games.
I like PoFV when you are talking with Shikieiki but the rest of the dialogue in that game is utter garbage. Mostly. It was fun when Komachi offered a price cut on the passage to the other side on the very uncomfortable boat.
-
Never read conversation's so I'll probably go with IN.
I'm 12 and what is this?
A trial of guts.
-

Except you can simply hold down CTRL and watch them fly by in ten seconds if that :V
-
Except you can simply hold down CTRL and watch them fly by in ten seconds if that :V
Which is usually what will be done probably.
-
I have never read a single dialogue :(
-
Reading IN's dialog got the most laughs out of me. So funny!
-
I like all of them.
-
Except you can simply hold down CTRL and watch them fly by in ten seconds if that :V
Obviously, but we're talking about the DIALOGUE here. >_>
-
"So... you control dolls... to make it rain! ...Wait, that doesn't make any sense."
SWR. :V
-
IN and SWR, with an honorable mention to MarisA in SA.
-
...with an honorable mention to MarisA in SA.
I forgot about that. Breaking the fourth wall FTW.
-
I... can't specifically remember.
I just enjoy it in general.
Marisa/Patch in SA comes to mind for weaknesses XD
-
hmmm... I'll have to say MarisaA in SA for breaking the 4th wall, and "Go where Yuyuko says x2"
-
PCB. Mostly because of Sakuya vs. Ran.
"Apparently you're a fox."
"And apparently you're a dog."
-
IN probably has the best dialogue. Gotta love GET OUT OF THE WAY, BITCH. Honorable mention to SWR for having just outright odd conversations.
UFO had some good ones with Sanae, though.
Ichirin: "So, you've been collecting the pieces of the flying treasure?"
Sanae: "Wait, treasure? Do you mean those charms with 'P' and 'point' written on them?"
-
Marisa
Well, will you open the door?
Prismriver Sisters
This door does not open.
Marisa
Don't you go through it now and then?
Prismriver Sisters
We just fly over it.
Marisa
...Oh.
-
For what I've missed during the weekend.
What is your favorite Stage 4 Boss "gimmick"?
Satorin~
What is your favorite Extra Stage (stage portion only)?
MS, it's the one that's more fun to me (And the only one I'm willing to do over and over again)
Which game has your favorite conversations?
GET OUT OF THE WAY, BITCH
(IN for the ones that don't know)
-
Marisa
Well, will you open the door?
Prismriver Sisters
This door does not open.
Marisa
Don't you go through it now and then?
Prismriver Sisters
We just fly over it.
Marisa
...Oh.
This.
-
SWR. It redeemed Remilia in my eyes and made me admire Alice, so much. Sanae in UFO gets an honorable mention for being awesome, and so does SA, for this reason:
-
Okay, okay, I give up.
You're right.
The endless night, stealing the full moon,
Hiding the human village,
and putting hats on stone statues,
It's all Alice's fault. Now, bitch, get out of the way!
IN all the way! 8)
-
Marisa&Alice in IN and SA have awesome scripts. And the best extra dialouge ever. Its better then Yukari having jelly donut-phobia.
Marisa:Besides, I figured out something really important.
Alice:(... ? What?)
Marisa:The shrine's totally empty now. It's the perfect time to go fishing.
Koishi:Oh no, thievery is bad...
"Later, Kanako caught Marisa going through their house."
"She got put through the wringer. The End."
Best. Ending. Ever.
-
"Later, Kanako caught Marisa going through their house."
"She got put through the wringer. The End."
Best. Ending. Ever.
I completely forgot about that. :V
-
Argh, SA. Just for that-
What is your favorite theme from SA?
SA has three tracks that I REALLY like, but I'm going to give it over The Earth Spirits' Homecoming and Hartmann's Youkai Girl to the obvious Lullaby of Demonic Hell. As annoyed as I am that I just lolclipdeathed like an IDIOT twice, it's still an absolutely amazing piece of work. Another HM goes to Satori.
-
Third Eye. Next.
-
Last Remote for Last Remote reasons.
Be of Good Cheer has grown on me a lot after 150+ attempts trying to perfect Stage 5.
-
Third Eye and Nuclear Fusion.
-
Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye
Honorary mention to Green Eyed Jealosy
-
Third eye and Hartmann's youkai girl.
They make me feel like i exist a bit less, which is neato.
-
It was Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion.
Then it was Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye.
Then it was Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer!
Screw it, I'm settling with Hartmann's Youkai Girl.
-
Corpse Voyage - Be of good cheer!
It helps that I never really had trouble on Orin.
-
Hellfire Mantle.
-
Third Eye. I wuv Hartmann's Youkai Girl, but I will never choose Koishi's music over her sister's.
-
Nuclear Fusion, Hartmann's Youkai Girl, and Third Eye.
-
Boss Theme= Third Eye
Stage Theme = Lullaby of a Deserted Hell
-
Stage Theme: Walking the streets of a Former Hell, or The Dark Blowhole
or Flower Ponders The Leaf, Leaf Ponders the Flower
Boss Theme: Satori Maiden 3rd Eye, or Nuclear Fusion or One-Way Accelerator
-
Argh Hartmann's Youkai Girl or 3rd Eye...
...
Hartmann's just because it's Koishi.
-
Last Remote definitely.
The atmosphere that song has is just amazing.
-
Green-Eyed Jealousy for the win.
-
Lullaby of Deserted Hell

Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion...
or Corpse Voyage ~ Be of Good Cheer!...
...Can I go with Solar Voyage of Mystic Corpse ~ Nuclear Cheer!?
-
Green-eyed Jealousy was always my favourite theme in all of Touhou.
I like Hartmann's Youkai Girl too, but it's not my favourite theme despite the fact that Koishi is my favourite character.
-
>one theme
>Subterranean Animism
... :(
Between Green-Eyed Monster, Green-Eyed Jealousy, Hartmann's Youkai Girl, Nuclear Fusion, Heartfelt Fancy, and 3rd Eye, I think I'll have to go with Green-Eyed Jealousy.
-
I love SA's themes overall but if i have to choose...
Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion.
Honorable mention goes to Hartmann's Youkai Girl and Satori Maiden ~ Third Eye.
-
DUN...

Da dun dun- dun dun- dun dun- dadadadadun- dadadun!

But yeah, SA really has a good soundtrack, so any other theme is fine, too.
-
Hartmann's Youkai Girl is like my second-favorite theme in the series, voting for that :V
-
ZUN...
Zaza zun zun zun zun zun zun zun zun zun...
Za zun zun zun zun zun zun zunzun- zazazun zazazun-
Zun- zun zazazun zun- za zun zun zun zun zun

-
Last Remote and Be of Good Cheer have to be my answers. Between those two... maybe Last Remote.
-
What is your favorite theme from SA?
Lullaby of Deserted hell. By far. Props to tons of songs as well, pretty much all of them (EXCEPT Harmann's. I hate it, to be honest.)
-
Utsuho boss theme, w/e it's called
-
Utsuho boss theme, w/e it's called
How can a name like Nuclear Fusion be that hard to remember? :P
Incidentally, I choose Nuclear Fusion <3
-
What is your favorite theme from SA?
Tie between Nuclear Fusion and Satori Maiden. I can't stop humming either of them constantly.
Although Be Of Good Cheer is another gem.
-
How can a name like Nuclear Fusion be that hard to remember? :P
Incidentally, I choose Nuclear Fusion <3
Utsuho's gigantic picture is in front of the BGM - 'title' when it appears!
that and I barely played SA
-
SA is like the anti-IN for me musically, so hard to find a song I don't enjoy listening to. :V
I'll go with Green-Eyed Jealousy.
HM to Nuclear, Heartfelt Fancy, and Walking the Streets of a Former Hell.
-
Heartfelt Fancy. It was the only song that elicited a "wow, I want to hear this again ASAP" response when I first played SA.
-
Last Remote
-
Hartmann's Youkai Girl has grown on me after I've been forced to listen to it for 30 minutes.
Lullaby of Deserted hell is also pretty nice.
-
Lullaby of Deserted Hell and Corpse Voyage- Be of good cheer!
Lullaby is one of those songs that just says... epic.
-
Next!
What is your favorite credits theme?
For those of you who don't pay too much attention to them or only hear them when you clear a game: go back and listen! They're awesome! And as awesome as all of them are, the most awesome to me is Arcadian Dream from Lotus Land Story.
I'd link to them all, but I'm kind of busy. If anyone else would like to, I'd very much appreciate it; otherwise I'll probably come back and do it in about an hour or so.
-
Such a difficult question, as I like every credits theme except for Another Dream. If I could narrow it down it'd be between Peaceful Romancer, Oriental Memory of Foregathering Dream, and Sky Dream. If I had to choose one though...
*the post cuts off here*
-
Sakura, Sakura~ Japanize Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YngLaU3gGpk) Just so beautiful...
Honorable mention goes to Crimson Belvedere~ Eastern Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9eE5uoB8Gw) Both are among my favorite songs in the series.
-
SoEW's Legendary Wonderland > All.
Peaceful Romancer second, then Sky Dream (UFO's) at 3rd.
-
PCBz

Crimson Belvedere ~ Eastern Dream, then Returning Home From the Sky ~ Sky Dream.
Yay for dreams? :D
-
the one from PoFV and the one from PCB AND the one from UFO.
-
Herselves. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vFlaVKbMOk) 'Nuff said
-
Nothing comes in my mind.
-
Herselves. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vFlaVKbMOk) 'Nuff said
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Truly something else from the Touhou staff role themes, but I wouldn't quite put it in the calibur of the three I listed.
-

I don't remember any of the ones you listed to be honest (well, Sky Dream is the Cosmic Mind remix, which automatically makes it meh)... I should really look up all these ending themes and listen to them again, it's been a while since I've heard a lot of them. I doubt they'll top Herselves though. That song holds a special place. >_>

Aight...ShiningDrake posted EoSD and PCB's...also, does tHRtP have more than one? I've still yet to beat it...

I... don't recall there ever being a "credits" theme for HRtP. It probably used the same track for the Ending Theme. This is basing off my memory.
-
WTF, Akyu's "Untouched" Soundtrack completely butchered Legendary Wonderland.
-
I... don't recall there ever being a "credits" theme for HRtP. It probably used the same track for the Ending Theme. This is basing off my memory.
Quite probably. Again, it's the only one I've yet to 1cc, so I can't say for myself.
-
WTF, Akyu's "Untouched" Soundtrack completely butchered Legendary Wonderland.
I use the Music Room for a reason.
-
Either Crimson Belvedere ~ ED (EoSD) or The Gods Give Us Blessed Rain ~ SD (MoF). I approve of the Suwa Foughten Field vibes in the latter.
-
Eternal Full Moon
-
Oh well, if you're including the fighting games, SWR's ending theme hands down.
UNL's gets an honorable mention.
-
Another dream - PoFV
I looooooooove it, can't really recall any credit themese atm but pofv is the only one who left me a deep (and good!) impression.
-
Oriental Evening Sky(SWR's).
God i love those violins.
-
Returning Home From the Sky ~ Sky Dream :)
-
Credits? That part where I'm shaking and run off to drink something only to come back to write my name and save my replay?
Yeah.. never heard any
-
If you count SWR, then Oriental Evening Sky and Sakura Sakura.
-
Returning Home From the Sky ~ Sky Dream (UFO).
However, if we're counting the fighting games, my vote goes to The Eternal Steam Engine (UNL). Absolutely beautiful.
-
I dunno. I don't usually care about ending themes at all.
-
Returning Home From The Sky ~ Sky Dream for the win.
-
tHRtP uses tHRtP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3M7_297tGM&feature=related) as staff roll theme, duh. Although it sounds better as the non-akyu-version.
As for my pick: SWR all the way!
-
Legendary Wonderland
The game is horrible, but it has some nice music.
HM to Peaceful Romancer
-
Oriental Evening Sky wins.
Props to Japanize Dream, Sky Dream, Sylphid Dream, Eternal Dream (I just noticed the pattern :V) and Peaceful Romancer.
-
Oriental Evening Sky
-
The Gods Give us Blessed Rain ~ Sylphid Dream
I love the rain effects...
-
Peaceful Romancer. Second and third places go to Peaceful Romancer too.
When I beat MS extra I didn't even expect to get anything but some unintelligible moonspeak banter as usual, and then there was..... that. And the whole PC-98 sendoff thing.
-
The Gods Give us Blessed Rain. It's the one that stands out the most in my mind.
-
A rather particular one today:
Which is your favorite OFFICIAL Reimu/Marisa artwork?
No, Alphes doesn't count. From the 12 so far, which is your favorite artwork for our heroines?
Reimu for me goes to PoFV; other than one or two expressions she looks great. Marisa, though, is all IN (especially that one expression where it looks like she's giving you the finger, but she's off by one).
-
Add the word "Official" to the question. Otherwise, you can expect a lot of fanart to appear as well. Because people have a tendency to not read the question properly / misinterpret the question.

This man speaks truth and is deserving of a cookie. BUT THERE IS NO COOKIE
But the question is edited.
-
Reimu: I'm particularly fond of LLS Reimu's ending art. For modern Reimu I'll go with PCB.
Marisa's easy: MoF. Probably the only good art in the game.
-
BUT THERE IS NO COOKIE
FFFF
Anyways, Reimu: EoSD, she seems... calm and angry at the same time.
Marisa: PCB. I dunno why.
-
BUT THERE IS NO COOKIE
D:
Reimu: MoF LLS / MS (basically the same thing). Because I like the outfit better. And the ending artwork (cut: :V).
Marisa: UFO. I don't know why, but I like the new design. It probably has something to do with my real name starting with 'M'.
-
Hmmm.
Reimu- Gonna have to go with all of her PC-98 portraits. The PC-Reimu just doesn't look as appealing to me.
Marisa- Perfect Cherry Blossom, hands down.
-
Reimu: EoSD, with PCB in second. Generally prefer the earlier Reimus to the later ones.
Marisa: Probably EoSD again, though I like her slight redesign in UFO.
-
Reimu: EoSD
Marisa: UFO
-
Reimu: IN
Marisa: PCB/SA
-
Reimu: UFO no doubt.
Marisa: I liked most of her designs, but I'm gonna go with UFO on this one as well for giant M.
-
Reimu: Probably PoFV, mostly because the portrait coloring in that game is amazing.
Marisa: UFO, for cowboy hat and GIANT M.
Additionally, Sakuya's PCB demo portrait is the greatest thing ZUN's ever drawn :V
-
Reimu: PCB
Marisa: EoSD and IN are equal
-
No love for IaMP artwork (http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Immaterial_and_Missing_Power:_Characters)? I'm not sure exactly what is meant by "official" artwork, and I'm not sure that ZUN necessarily drew these, but if the game is canon, the artwork is canon, and I'm going to go with it.
-

No, Alphes doesn't count. From the 12 so far, which is your favorite artwork for our heroines?
Alphes drew the IaMP/SWR portraits, and helped out with the PoFV portraits.
-
No, Alphes doesn't count.
Alphes drew the IaMP/SWR portraits, and helped out with the PoFV portraits.
Oh. Shows what I know.
Well then. Next choice after the fighters is a tougher decision, mainly because I've honestly never cared too much for a lot of the in-game art. I may or may not come back to this with a new answer.
-
Reimu: UFO
Marisa: SA or UFO (I think her UFO art looks kinda pretentious, but then, that's Marisa for you)
-
Reimu: EoSD. Classic Reimu for the win.
Marisa: I rather enjoy UFO Marisa. The giant M is a nice touch.
-
Reimu: PCB
Marisa: PCB
PCB Wins :D
-
UFO.
-
Reimu: Probably PoFV, mostly because the portrait coloring in that game is amazing.
Marisa: UFO, for cowboy hat and GIANT M.
Additionally, Sakuya's PCB demo portrait is the greatest thing ZUN's ever drawn :V
You're going to have to post it now, you know. :V
-
UFO for both. However... Reimu's
MoF art LLS ending art and Marisa in SA both look pretty awesome as well. Actually, Marisa looks great in EoSD too. And PCB. But I guess UFO is my favorite, GIANT M YEAH
-
You're going to have to post it now, you know. :V
(http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/9205/pcbtrialsakuyaditz.jpg)
-
(http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/9205/pcbtrialsakuyaditz.jpg)
Best Sakuya art EVER
Although I hate how she has a purple sprite. Its so much better when it turns blue in PoFV.
-
(http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/9205/pcbtrialsakuyaditz.jpg)
Well, now I have to agree.
-
I prefer the older ones, they have this kind of charm to them.
Especially that Sakuya one. :V
-
LLS. PC-98 Reimu is a total hottie.
And I don't really like any of Marisa's portraits, but SA's sucks less than the others because of that awesome capelet.
-
EoSD Reimu and DIAL M FOR MARISA
-
Yesterday:
Eternal Steam Engine or Sky Dream
Today:
UFO for both.
If you voted for PCB Marisa, look at her fingers for a moment.
...Oh wait, that was the demo art, wasn't it?
-
What, I never got that Sakuya... Oh wait, *goes to find demo*
-
Something makes me want to believe the art in the legendary earliest PCB demo is just a bunch of stick figures with dresses. :V
Still no luck with anyone finding that though?
-
Reimu: UFO
Marisa: PCB
If you voted for PCB Marisa, look at her fingers for a moment.
...Oh wait, that was the demo art, wasn't it?
Not that it would really matter if it wasn't. Every hand ZUN has ever drawn has been no less than horrible.
-
Woohoo for writing this instead of my essay! But seriously, this only takes a minute.
What is your favorite Stage 3 theme?
There are only a couple I don't like, but...this goes to Romantic Children. HM to Doll Maker...man, Alice took all the good ones...
inb4 Alice stole the precious theme
-
Bad Apple!! ever since I first heard it which was around the start of this year.
-
There's a lot of good stage 3 themes, but my favorite would have to be The Gensokyo the Gods Loved. Honorable mentions go to Romantic Children and Walking the Streets of a Former Hell. Bad Apple is one of those songs that is really good material for remixes, but the song itself isn't anything special.
-
The Doll Maker of Bucureşti. No contest here.
-
I think I'm gonna go with Chinese Tea House. Man I just love the EoSD music.
-
World of Empty Dreams.
Honorable mention to Doll Maker of Bucuresti and Gensokyo the Gods Loved.
-
My favourite stage 3 boss theme is Alice's.
Except for my favourite stage 3 boss theme. Which also belongs to Alice.
:V
-
CAN'T CHOOSE D:
Bad Apple, Romantic Children, Shanghai Tea House ~ Chinese Tea, The Doll Maker of Bucuresti, Nostalgic Blood of the East ~ Old World, or The Gensokyo the Gods Loved...
...I think I'll go with Doll Maker for this one, with Gensokyo the Gods Loved in second place.
-
BAD APPLEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh, and China's one from EoSD.
-
Walking the Streets of a Former Hell obviously
-
Oh man, the third stages have a lot of good themes huh? I guess I'll go with Doll Maker of Bucuresti though.
-
What is your favorite Stage 3 theme?
Hurrrrrrrrrr (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L66wW1nwiIY#t=1m31s)
-
Gensokyo the Gods Loved.
-
Gonna say Chinese Tea for this one
-
Tie between Chinese Tea and The Doll Maker of Bucuresti.
-
Romantic Children.
no challenge.
-
Romantic Children.
no challenge.
fffffffffffff how did I forget this
This is my new answer.
-
Fffffffffffffff I hate this question.
Doll Maker of Bucuresti or Gensokyo the Gods Loved? :C
...
Fine, Doll Maker. Both are some of my favorite songs in the series, but Doll Maker has this urgent feeling and nostalgic charm for me since PCB was my first. Also Alice.
Honorable mention to Romantic Children, though.
-
Hard choice...
I'll go with Romantic Children
Honorable mention to World of Empty Dreams
-
Walking the Streets of a Former Hell ......
-
Romantic Children. Nothing else compares.
-
Lol, this isn't even a competition for me. Gensokyo the Gods loved wins by MILES, I love it so much and how the fairies spawn according to the music. Sometimes I practice run stage 3 just to hear it :V
EoSD is pretty awesome to.
-
Ugh, another hard music question. It feels to me Stage 3's are more often than not "calm before the storm" songs, meant to instill a sense of exploration and discovery of a new area. Fits since (IIRC) there traditionally a huge difficulty jump in Stage 4 (well it definitely exists in EoSD at least :V).
Going to have to go with The Gensokyo The Gods Loved on this one. Honorable mention to Romantic Children and Shanghai Teahouse.
On another note, does anyone know where I can find the original midi to World of Empty Dreams, I can only find remastered versions of the song.
-
Romantic Children
I mean, srsly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVZvghFJ04w)
-
World of Empty Dreams wins here.
-
I had almost voted for The Doll Maker of Bucuresti... but then I found out that Maple Wizen is the remix of Romantic Children.
Yeah Romantic Children.
-
I had almost voted for The Doll Maker of Bucuresti... but then I found out that Maple Wizen is the remix of Romantic Children.
Yeah Romantic Children.
Errr...no? Maple Wizen is a remix of Maple Wise, the stage 4 theme of MS...unless I've completely lost all shreds of my sanity.
Anyway, Baity, forget not tonight pl0x.
-
Doll Maker of Burfksldighsi(?) But it was annoying that she kept popping in and out
-
Chinese Tea. The only thing I don't like about this theme is that it completely overshadows Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17.
-
Chinese Tea of Bad Apple.
-
Stage 3 tends to have some of the best stage themes, and the Doll Maker of Bucuresti, the Gensokyo the Gods Loved, and Nostalgic Blood of the East are all very close for me, but I think the Doll Maker of Bucuresti is the best. I always wonder, though: why Bucuresti? Does Alice have some connection to Romania?
-
I have a very minor stomachache (which was a consequence of eating something weird; not food poisoning this time fortunately), so I'll get this out here and now before I go and lie down for a bit.
What is your favorite "character" sprite (set)?
This can vary from Playable Characters (that you control), to "Nameless" Fairies, to (Mid-)Bosses. The Fighters (that is IaMP, SWR and UNL) are also included in this.
Lying down now. Answer coming when I get back up.
-
Porbably Sakuya's from UNL and SWR, DIO POSE ACTIVATE!
-
Porbably Sakuya's from UNL and SWR, DIO POSE ACTIVATE!
Ditto.
-
ZengarKanako, in Onibashira cannon modo.
-
Ooo... this is a hard one...
I think I'll go with Sakuya from IMP/SWR/UNL for the badass pose she has.
-
In the fighters, Patchouli all-around.
In the shmups, I'm not really sure. None of them scream out at me in particular, but as opposed to his artwork ZUNsprites are extremely well-done, and there are so many details involving them (Windows games) that I didn't notice until seeing the sprite sheets themselves. I don't know, I'll have to come back to that one.
Or I could just stick with Fighterchouli, but that'd be boring. :V
-
Yuyuko with her fan out.
And as far as the fighting games go, I've always been quite fond of Alice's sprite, though I'm not quite sure why.<_<
-
Um... White Marisa in UNL I guess. (It's one of her alternate color pallets)
-
Damn...this is a 4-way tie between Utsuho for badassery, Suwako for her awesome Wackiness, Iku for 'el fevre', and Suika for Drunken Fist.
In the end I'm going with Utsuho though. Goddamn she's so epic in UNL.
-
For shooters, I'll have to go with UFO Sanae just for the "sing my praises~" hands she has.
For the fighters, it's a tie between this (http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2571/awesome.png) and this. (http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/4920/yukariishaxingdonotdist.png) I can't decide. D:
Honorable mentions go to Alice for the surprisingly cool twirl she does in UNL after the AH HA HA face and Suika swaying back and forth...back and forth...back and-
/me trails off and just stares at Suika
-
Mokou's sprite in IN. Easy.
As for the fighting games... I don't play them, so I can't really say I've appreciated the sprites enough to care, but so far, Utsuho is top tier.
-
Kaguya's sprite *cough*Midnight*cough*
-
And as far as the fighting games go, I've always been quite fond of Alice's sprite, though I'm not quite sure why.<_<
I'm rather fond of Alice's spelltrance declare animation in IaMP, magic circle included.
Actually, that might be my favorite overall.
-
Forgot this (http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/2343/awesomealice.png)
-
Okay, final answers: Tenshi's sitting pose, Alice's IaMP spelltrance declaration, and Patchouli's UNL Royal Flare animation (which approaches god tier if Okuu uses Abyss Nova when next to her)
Honorable mention to Marisa during Blazing Comet in UNL.
-
Kisume's sprite has a certain charm to it. I suspect I'll be the only one picking her, but oh well :p
-
Cirno's standing pose in UNL. Technically it's her crouching pose, but w/e.
She just looks so sure of herself. She IS the strongest and there ain't anyone who is going to tell her otherwise.
-
LLS stage 6 Yuka.
Late edit: for the fighters, Suwako's "flying" animation
And, of course, honorable mention to Konngara!
-
(http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/7817/th105.jpg)
And from the fighters, basically anything involving Utsuho. This in particular. (http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/8364/th121.jpg)
-
Yuyuko with Fan
++++ for Byakuren that is 3 TIME TALLER THAN YOU and stylish lotus.
Ho and how to forget...BROFIST Unzan
-
I don't know, there are so many, perhaps yuyuko/mokou/byakuren with the fan/bird/'ufo' out
-
Just so you know, I consider the
BROFIST fist as a bullet.
Anyway, time for me to add mine now that I'm up for a bit.
LLS Boss!Reimu just because. Fun fact: Reimu wields her gohei in her left hand during the PC-98 games and swaps to her right hand during the Windows game. Ambidextrous anybody?
Then LLS Stage 6!Yuka has some nifty animations that I never noticed until I savescummed for demonstration purposes.
And then Alice in (all 3) of the Fighters for those boots.
Edited question wording sightly to catch all the flaws.
-
I like Kogasa's umbrella spin.
I wonder if she makes herself dizzy doing that. :V
-
Koishi and Satori's "Dancing" Sprites from SA and Suwako's sprites from UNL.
-
Koishi and Satori's "Dancing" Sprites from SA and Suwako's sprites from UNL.
Man how the fuck did I forget this.
But still Utsuho for best sprite. Satori/Koishi in the shooters though :P
-
Byakuren with the whatever-it-is with the lotuses on it out.
-
(http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/7817/th105.jpg)
And from the fighters, basically anything involving Utsuho. This in particular. (http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/8364/th121.jpg)
Thanks.
-
Komachi's Nice Boat in SWR/UNL
Anything Utsuho related in UNL.
As for shooters, I like Koishi the most, especially during genetics.
-
For the fighters, tough choice,. I'd have to say basically anything Suwako does. She just looks like she's having so much fun fighting, no matter how the battle's going.
HM to Alice's little ballerina-spin and Tenshi's sit-on-a-rock-and-kick-you-in-the-face animation :V
For the shooters, the PoFV sprites, all of them are absolutely gorgeous. If I had to pick one character for best sprites...I'll go with Sakuya. Although, Medicine has the best sprite.
-
Man...Fan!Yuyuko and Phoenix!Mokou are fighting it out, but fighters go to selecting Cirno in Arcade mode, when she spins around...aaah, awesome. :)
-
What ZUN lacks in drawing skill, he makes up for in spriting skill.
I really can't decide.
-
Gonna need a new topic soon...
Who is your favorite midboss-ONLY character?
This includes a bunch of nameless PC-98 people, Daiyousei, Koakuma, Lily White, Tewi, Shizuha, Momizi(knew I was missing someone), and Kisume (and technically Cat!Rin and Orb!Nue).
I'm going to go with Kisume, if only because of the statement "SILENCE, BUCKET GIRL!"
-
You missed Momizi
-
Yay for Momizi's Giant Blue swirls of death!
-
Momiji <3
-
Shizuha is the shiz.
-
Stage 4 LLS Fairy (both of them; identical) for being hands down the hardest Mid-Boss(es) ever created. Harder than Cat!Orin even.
-
SoEW's moonrune-shooting fairy.
-
It's a tie between Daiyousei and Momiji
-
Lily. <3
-
Daiyousei~
-
Daiyosei/Momizi.
-
Momizi
After seeing her fan made phantasm stage, of course.
-
KOAKUMA KOAKUMA KOAKUMA KOAKUMA KOAKUMA KOAKUMA KOAKUMA KOAKUMA
KOAKUMA
-
(http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/7678/018328.jpg)
These two.
-
Shizuha i guess... i've always had a thing for her.
If not, then Momizi. Mainly because of her being cute and her danmaku being very challenging.
I could have mentioned Orin or Nue in their respective mid-boss forms but i still think its the same character even though they appear otherwise so those don't count imo.
-
During UFO, discovering that Blue Floaty Orb could drop a life in stage 4 made it the best midboss ever briefly.
Anyway though, Momizi. Why? ...Admittedly, it's because Male!Momiji is always, without exception, absolutely delicious.
-
Momiji purely because her fanart is so awesome.
-
Lily. Both Lily.
-
Lily.
-
Momizi because she has some awesome h-doujin and others don't have as many :V
-
The Books.
If that doesn't count, Lily White.
-
EDIT: Woops... I'm a human. I make mistakes :(
Favourite midboss... probably CatOrin.
That Nya is just classic 8)
-
Walking the streets of a former hell :D
It snows underground.
You're two days off, will you people PLEASE read topics before posting in them?!
Also, technically EX!Keine is one too.
-
Actually you know what? I changed my mind.
Lily White <3
-
The Books.
Good call, I'm voting for the books too. Otherwise Momizi.
-
For the PC-98 Games its the Midboss from Stage 4 of SoEW, because no matter mow much I improve my SoEW Skills, it still manages to take a life from me. For the Windows games it would have to be Kisume, because she haz a bucket!(and for her Spell Cards I guess) :V
(HM's to the Card Midboss from MS's Extra Stage and Shizuha for being Awesome.)
-
My theory is that the stage 4 midboss in SoEW, the stage 4 midboss in LLS, and the stage 3 and 5 bosses in MS are all the same greater fairy. If nothing else all of them from LLS on share the same sprite. Doesn't matter, I hate that girl. :V
-
Koakuma is quite lovely.
-
Lily White > Shizuha > Koakuma
-
Kisume, for being moetastic. The Shiz and Koakuma get honorable mentions.
-
Momizi because she always freaking rapes me.
Forget Gengetu Rape Time, this is Momizi Rape Time.
-
Bah, 's late.
What is your favorite unique bullet?
You know, some characters have their own bullets that they and only they use. I'm thinking Kisume's BUCKET LAZORS are pretty high up there, myself, though FACE-MELTING SUNS are a good contender. Probably forgetting better ones.
-
Probably Utsuho's sun bullets, yeah.
-
Welp. There goes "next week"'s question.
I'm a pretty big fan of Yumeko's Knife-Swords.
-
My knowledge of unique bullets may be mostly limited to SA, but that's not gonna stop me.
FACE-MELTING SUNS
-
BROFIST
Honorable mention to Koishi's heart bullets though. Those things are just too cute.
-
FACE-MELTING SUNS are just too awesome.
honorable mention: strawberry crosses
-
BROFIST.
-
Brofists are pretty cool until you actually try playing against them.
My final vote goes to SHANGHAI SHANGHAI SHANGHAI SHANGHAI HOURAI HOURAI HOURAI HOURAI
etc.
-
ANCHORS
Seriously, I was blown away when I first saw them ingame.
-
Brofists are pretty cool until you actually try playing against them.
I disagree. ~_^
-
I disagree. ~_^
Okay, let me word that better:
Brofists are cool if you have a computer that's badass enough to handle their fps-sucking manliness. And if KKS were to magically cease to exist.
-
Unique bullets? Not a whole lot of choices.
Facemelting Suns, Brofists, and Anchors are all great.
However, I want to also give points to the Aya Comets and Shinki's Cheetolasers... and Nue's UFO "bullets" (If those count)
-
Yuugi's Shackle-lasers, because they're so easy~
-
Peerless Wind God FTW I mean Aya comets.
-
I'm a fan of Yumemi's crosses. I remember the first time I saw them.
"Oh, this isn't to bad-- what the fuck is that a GIANT CROSS ON MY SCREEN?"
-
Tie between Shikieiki's judgment sticks & brofist
-
Koishi's
phallic heart bullets.
Come on, it's hard for me to dodge her love <3
-
More anchors! More! MORE!
-
I like Nue's lasers, no wait now they are balls, and now they are lasers again... sorry my mistake they are
balls no wait lasers...
Altought I'm not sure if it counts since Syou does a similar thing.
Then I'll go for anchors, YARR!
-
BROFIST!!!
...........
...................__
............./??/'...'/???`??
........../'/.../..../......./??
........('(...?...?.... ?~/'...')
..........................'...../
..........''............. _.??
..........................(
-
Unsurprisingly, I love Yumemi's crosses and Shiki's wall of judgment sticks.
-
CAUTION!! CAUTION!! CAUTION!!
Also, Brofists and Nue's UFOs if they count.
-
[size=9]broFEEEEEEEEST[/size]
That is all.
-
Probably Nazrin's blue bullets produced by her
proprietary blue pendulums that actually looks like rat poison pellets :V
Yuyuko butterflies, but later found out in PoFV that Aya also uses them (and likely some others as well).
... I'll go for Marisa's psychedelic star danmaku x3. I don't remember anyone using stars (except Kaguya, but that's only on her 5th impossible reque... oh, that was the End of Imperishable Night I was referring... Dangit, Kaguya ;_;)
So then I find it hard choosing unique danmaku... Oh wait, Yuka Flowers!!! xDxDxD
(I'd really go for Nazrin pendulum and pellets if it weren't for it being normal danmaku x3)
-
Mai's egg bombs.
-
I'm gonna say giant anchor bullets are awesome, with Keine's long lasers from StB 3-6 a close second, if those count.
-
Shou/Nazrin's thick lasers, if it counts. Otherwise, Anchors.
-
I say Mystia birdies!! fly fly fly!!
-
Probably the last one for this topic~
Who is your favorite Stage 4 Boss?
I go with Patchy on this one (flat-eyed Patchy stare of doom is awesome and possibly the best thing ZUN's ever drawn outside of endings), though Satori gets an HM.
-
Reimu in Imperishable Night. Yuki and Mai would get it but their fight gets less cool halfway through.
-
Satori~n
-
Patchouli is one of my favorite fights in the entire series.
HM to Aya, who has a fucking awesome theme and fun noncards.
-
Satori~n
-
Patchy. Just... Patchy. She's hard as hell, but I can only imagine the beatdown she could give if she actually had energy instead of being so fragile she might collapse at any moment~
-
Hm...I don't particularly like Patchouli as a character, but I'd be lying if I didn't say her fight was an absolute blast (as long as you're not using MarisaA). Same goes for Satori (except with MarisaC).
Dishonorable mention to Prismrivers. God fucking dammit that is such a stupid fight.
-
I can't decide between LLS Reimu and Patchy. They're two of the best boss fights in the series for me.
-
Patchy, Yuki/Mai (and solo Yuki)
Dishonorable mention to Prismrivers. God fucking dammit that is such a stupid fight.
+1
-
My vote should be obvious.
But if it isn't. Prismriver Sisters for the fucking win.
-

This is a vote for Satori.
-
CAPTAIN MURASA MINAMITSU
-
patchouli
prismriver
marisa
aya
satori
murasa
hmm, I guess I don't really like any of them, as they are major 1cc breakers.
I'll say Marisa is my favourite because she's the one I had to practice most to perfect in Hard Mode.
-
I like Patchy and Satori more, but Marisa's fight in IN what I really love. With all that chasing and stuff.
-
Satori. No-brainer.
Honourable mention goes to the Prismrivers for Merlin <3
-
Patchy. Even though I don't like her much, her fight(s) is(are) really cool.
-
Satori for sure!
(With an HM to Patchy of course.)
-
Satori, obviously. I mean, she has BoWaP, Throwing Mt. Togakushi, Pandemonium, Great Whirlwind... the list goes on. :V
-
(http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9668/98462.jpg)
This is a vote for Satori.
Best of both worlds for me. I love Satori and Patchy.
-
A personal liking to Patchouli, and:
Patchy. Just... Patchy. She's hard as hell, but I can only imagine the beatdown she could give if she actually had energy instead of being so fragile she might collapse at any moment~
Hakurei Marisa Honorable Mention to Marisa, of course, then Satori. (still have issues with ranking characters :x)
Patchouli&Satori Mixed art
Waaai, cute Satchouli art <3 =w=
-
Satori! It was fun to see previous characters danmaku in a fight
-
Aya/Satori, theyshe is so frakkin' easy. Even better is that she uses your partner's danmakufu.
-

...except for MarisaC, but who uses that? :V
-
IN Reimu. Those border cards are awesome like woah
-
LLS Reimu. You'll understand why when I upload the video counting 3 days from now.
-
I'll have to go with Patchy here.
-
I love fighting Satori
With that said, I !@#$ing hate the Prismrivers so hard.
-
Looks like we'll squeeze in one more...
What is your favorite Extra Boss theme?
So many awesome ones to pick from here...but ultimately, there's little choice; nothing really matches up against Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke. I will throw an HM to Hartmann's Youkai Girl for being awesome and fitting the image of a broken girl so well, but nothing can really top the sheer epic majesty of Mokou.
-
Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke
This question isn't even fair.
I guess HM to Hartmann's.
-
Not sure whether I like Immortal Smoke or Icemilk Magic more to be honest...
-
Why do I get a feeling like this question has already been asked at least twice already? ::)
Dichromatic Butterfly.
-
Sorry for the extremely stereotypical response, but U.N. Owen was her for me. I think people would enjoy that song more in general if it wasn't for that god-awful Mcrolled video. Someone kill whoever made that, seriously.
-
I never saw the big deal about Immortal Smoke. It's a nice tune, but Hartmann's Youkai Girl is about a billion times better than any song in the series not called Faith is for Transient People :V
Honorable mention to U.N. Owen though, the original still manages to be one of my favorite songs from the games themselves to listen to, and some of the arranges are really good (although most of them are fairly mediocre, every so often you'll get something amazing like Surge Steps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9vjoW5ZT_o&fmt=18) or Grip and Break Down (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQNU2bopSqA&fmt=18)).
I will also take this time to say that I despise Necrofantasia in all forms :V
-
Necro Fantasy, the song that sold me on Touhou for life.
-
Maiden's Illusionary Funeral ~ Hartmann's Youkai Girl
(Ran ~ Koishi)
-
Immortal Smoke is immortal.
-
Why do I get a feeling like this question has already been asked at least twice already? ::)
Dichromatic Butterfly.
Silence you. :V Probably since we've asked Extra boss and Reimu theme.
Also, bah, another HM (well, two) to the Shuuso Gyoku ones. Forgot those.
-
The Grimoire of Alice.
-
UN Owen. Pretty much the only one I enjoy listening to outside the games.
-
Necrofantasia
-
Necrofantasia
-
Heian Alien.
It's U.N. Owen was Her+!
-
Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke
Heian Alien
I can't decide between those two.
Probably UFO's... Argh I just can't decide
-
MOKOUUUUUUUUUUUU, her theme was the reason I started playing touhou in the first place (eventough I don't know the name :V)
UN takes second place
-
The Tank Girl's DreamOh I thought you meant worse. :V
Gotta go with Reach fo' the moon. Grimoire of Alice has HM.
-
Native Faith is tied with Hartmann's Youkai Girl. Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke came second. U.N. Owen is third.
-
Man...Hartmann's Youkai Girl is REALLY growing on me.
For now it's still Grimoire of Alice, followed by Hartmann and Heian Alien.
-
Heian Alien!!!
HM's go to the Grimiore of Alice, Immortal Smoke, and Necro~Fantasy.
-
My favorite is definitly UN Owen was her?
-
My favorite is definitly UN Owen was her?
Unsurprisingly :V
-
The EoSD fanboy in me can't let me say anything other than U.N. Owen Was Her?
Reach for the Moon ~ Immortal Smoke is a very close second though.
Seriously, I'm one of the few people that would consider EoSD their all-time favorite game in the series in terms of music and gameplay.
-
Seriously, I'm one of the few people that would consider EoSD their all-time favorite game in the series in terms of music and gameplay.
I agree for gameplay; EoSD is simple danmaku. No tricks, no funky life systems. Music...EoSD is hurt by the synthesizer, and it's not stellar overall, but it certainly has some of the best.
-
All touhou extra themes suck.
For me it's a tie between Witches Ball ~ Magus and Dichromatic Butterfly
-
All touhou extra themes suck.
Get bent get bent get bent out.
-
Get bent get bent get bent out.
-
Necro Fantasy > Immortal Smoke > Grimoire of Alice
Necro Fantasy is infinitely better than Necrofantasia and you know it.
-
Dichromatic Butterfly/Magus
If those don't count, then Necro Fantasy or Heian Alien.
-
Grimoire of Alice.
Was this supposed to be hard?
Also, locking thread, make a new one if you folks wish to continue.
