You might have heard a little bit about this, but my computer has been through a roller coaster from hell as of late. It all started with the installation of a new CPU...Windows locked me out of my files, so I had to use other computers and hard drives in a desperate race to get my computer back and working again.
Well, I've managed to get my hard drive back, and aside from a couple of programs not working (Microsoft Office for instance, but who uses that when there's OpenOffice available, I say), everything's fine. I'm just having a hard time uninstalling components that I cannot use anymore due to all the hard drive changing and stuff like that.
For instance, when I try to uninstall Java, I get an error saying that "The installation source for this product is not available." I'd like to uninstall something cleanly from my computer so I can reinstall it (in this case, Java), because the "Add or Remove Programs" function isn't working for me. Can someone help me with this?

delete the registry key and you should be able to reinstall it, luckily Java is clearly labelled
check the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE sections under Software, wipe the Java folders I guess
worked for me
